Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

Oh poor you @fallfallfall I shouldn't moan about my 7-ish hours then. But I really feel I need about 24 to feel rested Wink Has it always been like that or did you sleep better when younger?

Good list @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 I've got food and toiletries and medicine mostly sorted. Like I say, just want to go through and rotate things that have been in there for a while. Toiletries I try to keep one in use and one spare which works OK as we don't go through that much, so more about "fun" things.

DS has just had new wellies, coat, fleeces, socks and long sleeved T's. I think he'll need longer trousers & new pants.

I don't normally shop too far in advance for Christmas and do a lot online anyway, so may leave that for the start of November.

Hope that you all have a good day. Going to be a hot one!

fallfallfall · 07/08/2020 06:17

i use to sleep like a log and easily could sleep on a picket fence, no issues with shift work UNTIL perimenopause and menopause.
like i said though with no kids and no job it's not much of a problem, i stay pretty relaxed about it. never ever nap though and just take it easy till bedtime and give it a good effort.
the teen years really interrupted my sleep, waiting for them to call for a ride etc. now i usually can, but try not to, chat with dd in the uk.
it's 10:16 here. i'm off to bed, dreaming of new numbers on the scale.
and hoping for new photo's of the grand kids ;) who are off school till early september. so more time off for them.

Hi Everyone

Only scan read as up to eyes in paint ... just on a late lunch break.

I just caught sight of @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 preppers list. Looks great!

Have a great Friday ❤️👍

Hi all, didn't work today, so feels like Saturday instead really! Very hot, walked to a friend, set the world to rights and had a mini bottle of Prosecco in the process, a glass of lemonade at home and a burger with salad....so not great, but there we go.

Hope you finished the paint job @TheRealHousewife.

Oh I'm looking forward to all the joys of the menopause @fallfallfall Hmm

SunshineCake · 07/08/2020 22:06

Bit of a weird day. Nice walk with ddog. Bit of gardening. Pottering. TV. Guinea pig is off his food and I'm worried he will die over night. He's very quiet. Had a cry already. Had a cuddle with him. He normally wriggles and he just laid in my lap. Just so worried about him. Tomorrow meant to be running early while dd gets a lift from dh. Dh said he'll check on him for me. Sad.

Aurorie11 · 07/08/2020 22:10

5 days in, Monday was a disaster food wise but pretty good the rest of the time.
Keeping up with the exercise, resting heartbeat has been 60 all week, down from 67 about 7 weeks ago.
Tonight was hard, I’ve a bad habit of evening snack after dinner, so had a cup of tea and went to bed. Strange day food wise, went for a walk after getting up intended to have porridge but something kicked off work wise and ended up logging on earlier than planned so didn’t eat until lunch and that was a can of soup, bbq dinner had a burger, chicken leg and salad so could have been worse but did have about 20 Pringles.

fallfallfall · 07/08/2020 22:27

Oh sunshine I hope the little fellow pulls through.
Cool, cloudy and l o w energy start to the day.
Knew better than to give in to the laziness so started with the usual and hoped for the best. About to go for my bike ride.
Flowers arrived for dd.
149 still eluding me.
I’m serving a Chinese broccoli noodle dish, with corn on the cob AND will sneak in some cabbage with the broccoli. Our very first ever cabbage harvest.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 07/08/2020 22:29

Bit of a day of 2 halves here.

I've been on leave this week with DD so as final day of holiday we had a takeaway for dinner from 5 Guys.

B - nothing
L - cottage cheese, cherry tomatoes and salami
D - Bun-less bacon cheese burger with grilled onions and mushrooms and a couple of DDs fries.

S - 1 scoop lemon sorbet at the park and a Greek yoghurt this evening.

We spent about 2 hours exploring a big park in town though so managed my 10,000 steps.

fallfallfall · 08/08/2020 01:58

Hey real I hope the paint looks good in the early morning light.

TheRealHousewife · 08/08/2020 06:48

Good Morning

@Galvantula sounds positive 👍

@jazzyroll welcome. You’ve made a plan to start which is a positive step. Are you using any Apps to monitor your progress? Happy Scale App allows you to break your goal down into segments. It’s very motivating to see another mini goal smashed. You’ll love it here, the ladies are awesome.

@fallfallfall i do that too! I visualise what number I’d like to see on the scale in the morning 😬 I hope you see the much awaited 149!

@MrsJonesAndMe Yes for now. It started as a bit of filling where one of the kitchen doors had blown open and knocked something into the wall causing a dent in the plasterwork. Not a problem. When I went for the plaster and paint and I also got eggshell to redo the skirtings as they get care worn with being near the main door and dogs in and out. Also one of my dogs ‘taps’ the wall to go out. Over time it’s brought the paint off. Looks all lovely and fresh now. However the paint I used on the wall has a different finish to the rest (it’s the same brand, colour & finish) Didn’t have enough paint to do the complete wall as it’s a huge high wall. Now got to get more paint to paint the whole thing 🤷‍♀️. It was one little job that should have taken a day tops. I’ve been at it for 2 weeks on and off 😅.

@SunshineCake I hope your guinea pig is ok ❤️

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Love your preppers list! Have you got long life milk on there? Generally I always have a couple of those in the cupboards for emergencies. And a thermometer & oxyimeter. Good for checking for symptoms and the oxyimeter (the little thing you put on your finger to check oxygen levels) can be crucial if you contract C19.

Right I’m off this morning to get .... more paint 😬

Hello all
I've been quiet for a few days as I've been slacking due to a significant birthday. I'm back on it now and wondering how much damage I'll have done to the scales. Am proud of myself for managing to have a few dodgy days and then getting back to it though, normally it's a slippery slope.

I need to catch up on all the posts too. Smile

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/08/2020 13:17

Been low carb for just over a week now and my resting heart rate has decreased from 72 to 68 BPM, my sleep score on the Fitbit has improved and I have more energy. I've also earned enough activity points on my Vitality health plan for a free Caffè Nero coffee next week.

SunshineCake · 08/08/2020 14:01

@Aurorie11 4/5 good days though! DH and I used to have crackers and cheese as a 9pm supper and most times I would say we, well I, weren't hungry but just wanted the enjoyment of the crackers and cheese. This was before my intolerance testing and eventually we learnt we could still have them but st lunch time instead! Occasionally we will have a bowl of crisps rather than the large bag or some fruit but as I am doing IF the kitchen shuts at 8.30pm and by the time dinner around six and then clearing up etc there isn't a lot of eating time left or time to get hungry again Wink.

Thank you @fallfallfall. He survived the night but he is still very quiet. I made him a fruit and veg salad for breakfast, usually he has this at teatime, and he's refused all of it. DS made me a cool blanket incase he was too hot but he just refused to be hand fed and isn't squeaking at allSad. He looks confused and I'm devastated.

@HettyPain don't worry about any weight gain. It is your birthday, you enjoyed the treats and now it is back on your plan.

I went our running around half six this morning and did 5.2km. I was quicker than Thursday and knocked a minute off my average km time. I then walked my dog for 1 and a quarter hours and have been on the go all day. Having a sit down now as doggy wants to be with me and won't lie by the fan without me.

DS1 is away with his girlfriend and I have had to text him to warn him Guinea Pig Cutie is poorly and now he is sad too. DD is away for the night too and I have my orders not to tell her if he dies while she is away. I hope he is just too hot but I'm worried.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/08/2020 15:54

Oh no, I'd scrolled through hoping to see good news on the piggy @SunshineCake Sad

@Aurorie11 One bad day doesn't outdo the other 4 good ones. That's a bad mindset we all get into and then a downward spiral. Well done for getting back on track.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 sounds like you're doing well! Don't think I could cut carbs completely

Your birthday @HettyPain? Well done for getting back on track.

Your meal sounds nice @fallfallfall. We've got tomatoes and that's the only reliable success we ever have. Glad DD got her flowers in the end.

Hate it when a little job turns into a big job like that @TheRealHousewife

We went for a walk round a NT garden this morning and then came home and tackled gardening. Now ache and I've been through the shower to get rid of the ick. Too hot for hard labour really!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/08/2020 16:25

@MrsJonesAndMe I started out hoping to be able to follow the Leto diet then realised that that is just not in any way sustainable for me, you have to try for less than 15g net carbs a day, a glass of milk is about 10g!

So I've just cut out bread, crisps, chocolate and limiting pasta, rice, flour to as little as possible and whole grain versions when I do have it.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 08/08/2020 17:53

Today's menu has been basically stuff I can grab quick from the fridge with minimal effort because it's HOT and I'm melting.

B - Costa ice latte sat outside the cafe by myself reading my book, listening to music and people watching. Bloody heaven!

L - coleslaw, cottage cheese, leftover beef slices and cherry tomatoes

D - boiled egg, salad-y mix of baby corn, cherry tomatoes and green beans and a couple of slices of cold chicken

Afternoon Snack - Greek yoghurt with some homemade apple and blackberry compote

Spent a couple of hours at the park with DD this afternoon chasing butterflies, going up and down, up and down, up and down x 100 the slide and trying to figure out how all the things on the adult gym work. No idea what the round spinning plates at chest height do but we decided they were drums.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/08/2020 18:25

Sounds good @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 You've found your mojo! i on the other had ordered Dominos Blush

rivierliedje · 08/08/2020 19:27

Wow you all have so many plans and great things going on.
I lost all of 100g this week. But it is down and that is something.
Completed week 1 of the NHS 12 week fitness plan (a combination of their stretch and flex and couch to 5k).

Foreverlexicon · 09/08/2020 05:19

I’m struggling a bit with this maintenance thing. I don’t know how to find a balance. I’ve had a very stressful few days, new car blew up and looks like I will be going into a dispute with the garage. On the plus side, I never liked that car anyway and now I have a new, much more fun one.

I’m going to start logging my meals here again with a view of losing a few more lb. But if I maintain then that’s fine too. I’m not going to calorie count though.

@SunshineCake I hope your piggy is okay and just feeling the heat!

fallfallfall · 09/08/2020 06:14

Sounds like a good attitude and plan forever.
I’m not counting at this point either, I think I have a good perspective on what’s excessive. I’m certainly not hungry even with exercise (most of the time, even early am. 4-5pm is very difficult for me though).
A rather quiet Saturday, I visited a good friend.
Positive thoughts for piggy

CormoranStrike · 09/08/2020 06:53

Morning all.

I’m in and I need to lose a lot of weight.

Someone how I have crept up to 14 and a half stone size 18 woman who has recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure.

So, as if Tuesday this week I have embarked on healthier eating.

So far that has included cutting out all crappy snacks and eating lower calorie meals.

I am juicing too, to help with some digestion and skin issues I have. So hopefully that will work.

First day of juicing yesterday, and I had a small glass of a fruit based one and a tall glass of a veg based one (and normal waters etc).

Sheesh, diuretic for sure, I peed four times during the night!

SunshineCake · 09/08/2020 07:16

Morning all and thank you for the good wishes for my Guinea Pig. Last night he seemed quieter, if possible, and I decided if dh was right and he would go in his sleep he should have the chance to go while being cuddled. I have become allergic to him so he was on a blanket and sat with me for quite a bit. I spoon fed him some water and I do think some went in. He refused the cucumber DS2 brought for him though but the water seemed to perk him up a bit and he had a little walk around my lap. Very stressful moment when cat2 jumped up not realising GP was there and then later cat1 tried to sit with dh and was relegated to the end of the sofa where he glared at GP. Good doggy just looked at him to check all was well. I will go down shortly to see how he is doing but I am worried that the water came too late and the little walk was the last rally. Fingers crossed he's okay.

Good luck and well done to everyone. I can't think anymore. Might have to go down now.

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/08/2020 07:57

Hope it's good news @SunshineCake

Welcome @CormoranStrike, looking forward to the new series Wink

@Foreverlexicon sounds very stressful. Just keep being mindful and you'll be OK.

Well done @rivierliedje

A chat with a friend can make all the difference @fallfallfall

Have a good day all.

SunshineCake · 09/08/2020 09:05

He's alive!!!!

I thought he had gone, told dh he had gone and walked away crying. Dh checked and said he was fine and I would make a terrible coroner. Off to walk the dog now to calm my nerves.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 09/08/2020 09:13

Glad your Guinea pig is still with you @SunshineCake!

AF has visited this morning so expecting weight loss to stall a bit this week as it usually does. Gonna try to keep up the healthy eating and get through the next few days without doing my usual monthly chocolate binge
