Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

29/07/2020 - 229lb, BMI is 34.8
05/08/2020 - 226lb, BMI is 34.3

3lb loss this week Grin

Foreverlexicon · 05/08/2020 07:54

Morning all.
I weighed in and I’ve lost 0.8lb. I’m surprised as I ate a LOT wed-fri last week and just been eating what I want with a tad of moderation the last few. Been doing a lot of running though (12k yesterday!) so that’s probably why. I’m not particularly trying but I wouldn’t be devastated to lose a few more lb! Will just see where I settle I guess.

In other news, my car had to be towed to the garage yesterday as it was pissing oil everywhere. Not happy, it’s only 5 years old and 30k in the lock. Garage thinks I may be able to take this up with the dealership as I’ve had it less than 6 months and it’s beyond reasonable wear and tear.

Luckily I’m on my days off and have managed to cage a lift to the horse this morning. Also going for a short run - trying to get ahead of my mileage for the month and my 7 runs in a week badge!

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/08/2020 08:34

Well done both of you

What a bother with the car @Foreverlexicon

I'm the same as last time I hopped on - total loss from starting 22.9lbs Hmm Grin

Have a good day all!

TheRealHousewife · 05/08/2020 09:49

My Stats
29/07/20 - 137.2 BMI 26.8
05/08/20 - 134.1 BMI 26.2

Still about 9lbs to lose to be in just ‘normal’ BMI. Believe it or not I need to get to 116lbs to fall into centre of middle range, which is 18lbs away. Can’t imagine get much below 125lb, I'll just do my best.

In other news for some time I’ve been researching autoimmune disease (I have coeliac and thyroid disease) and how you can lower your inflammatory markers and amongst other things, Omega 3s came up. Also the learning module of my Fast800 Plan said the same. So I’ve sent for some and they should be here at the end of the week.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 great weekly loss! It’s so motivating to see the numbers going down.

@Foreverlexicon every bit helps. Perhaps all the exercise you do helps! It must keep your metabolism ticking over nicely. Sorry to hear about the car! Is there any warranty left on it?

@MrsJonesAndMe great overall loss!

I love sparkly stuff Grin. Thanks @TheRealHousewife and well done on your loss.

Well done @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50.

@Foreverlexicon a loss is a loss so well done. Annoying about your car and I hope you get it sorted painlessly.

Better than going up @MrsJonesAndMe! It will be your turn next week !

I didn't weigh myself as I didn't run due to having my therapy appointment and just felt it would be too much pressure and rush. I will run tomorrow and then weigh myself.

fallfallfall · 05/08/2020 17:26

Down 1.4, currently 150.6
Encouraging that the 140’s are not far off.
My bike needs to have the brakes checked, dh should be able to sort that but not sure that will be today.
I have a couple healthy looking zucchini’s one the garden!!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 05/08/2020 17:42

Today's food diary

B - nothing
L - 2 x mini wraps with cheese, bacon and mayo
D - Lasagna ( this was a calorie killer!)

rivierliedje · 05/08/2020 17:51

Yesterday started well with the first NHS strength and flex podcast, then did XBX later in the afternoon as well and walked to one train stop further and got off one earlier on the way to work. Lunch was roast veg with quinoa, dinner was simple past with plain arrabiata sauce.
Today I went for a short walk on my lunch break at work. Had same breakfast and lunch. And have had some salad for a snack after work.
Will be going for run 2 of week 1 of the NHS couch to 5k in a bit.

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/08/2020 18:18

Well done on all the losses ladies!

Did you sneak the chicken dish past DH @fallfallfall Grin

Bet it was worth it though @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Wink

Goodness, you sound like you're on a roll @rivierliedje

Hope you're OK after your session @SunshineCake

SunshineCake · 05/08/2020 18:54

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe I am feeling a bit SadConfused but I expect it will work out eventually. Tomorrow I run and I'm looking forward to that. I still can't decide whether to try and run further each time or run the same route and try and get it faster Confused.

fallfallfall · 05/08/2020 21:21

mrsjones well the butter chicken spice pack still had lots of kick and the massive dollop of curry paste made for tender flavorful chicken. dh liked it a lot and there is enough for tonight as well.
i tried to put 3 oz of meat on my plate, it looked absurd so after putting 3 on the plate, ate out of the pot, cuz no way was 3 going to work! i quickly stopped that and weighed out what i thought would be a reasonable serving of chicken 6 oz looked right to me. the Canadian recommendations are 3 oz, but as part of the main meal that was pretty measly. i didn't check the salt content on anything.

total loss for you 22.9 lets get to get that .1 done and dusted so you can be 23 down ;) i much prefer even numbers.

sunshine is that what therapy is suppose to do is make you think and reflect? i guess it's not an instant feel good type of pep talk chat?

TheRealHousewife · 06/08/2020 06:23

Good Morning 😊

Yesterday’s food plan went to plan. Slept a little better but still not brilliant. FD today so sleep might elude me again tonight 🥴

OAN did anyone watch Dr Michael Mosley’s programme that was on last night at 9:00pm channel 4. How to lose a stone in 21days. It was ok. Follow up on next week.

Today’s menu is Omelette & lentil & spinach Dahl. Not had the latter before and can’t say it sounds appetising but will give it a whirl.

Have a good day!

PS Don’t forget your water.

Have a good day @TheRealHousewife

Bad night, up early so going to be a long old day. Having a walk to the park and then planning a yoga video later.

Check in with you all later x

Galvantula · 06/08/2020 08:51

Morning all.

Greek yoghurt and granola so far today. Plus my new medication, which I seem to be tolerating ok so far. 😬 I feel like I can see some improvement, I think.

Can't believe it's next week that the kids here are due back at school 😱 I'm stressed trying to organise 3 lots of uniform this year as the smallest is starting. 😄

Galvantula · 06/08/2020 08:52

I'm also seeing a counsellor @SunshineCake, she's mostly so far trying to get me to be kinder to myself which I'm apparently very bad at. Blush

jazzyroll · 06/08/2020 09:04

I have weighed today and am 222lbs. Want to get down to 147lbs which is a whopping 75lbs to lose. Just the thought of is making me want to cry.
I'll do good old fashioned calorie counting as I need to look at my portion size and work out what's good for me and what isnt. Wish me luck, folks!

Galvantula · 06/08/2020 11:08

Oh yeah I did weigh today. I'd spiked back up to 61kg but back to 60.4 today. Hoping to get back to downward trend.

SunshineCake · 06/08/2020 11:27

Hi everyone

The therapy is definitely not a pep talk kind of situation, @fallfallfall. I find it really hard at times but it is helping a lot and what happens is things get processed between the sessions, almost without me realising or thinking about things. Sometimes it happens as I think about the session or when I tell DH about it or even just on its own.

@TheRealHousewife I have recorded that programme and will watch all in one go.

I ran 5.3 km today and was quicker on my pace maximum but disappointed my weight was up and back into the higher stone range but I suspect the gluten free bread is to blame as I had three slices yesterday and it has rice flour in which is an issue. I will do better, just making mushroom and garlic soup with fried in coconut spray courgettes for lunch. Dinner is mackerel, salad and new potatoes. I also didn't drink as much water as usual yesterday as so busy and was out twice so that will be rectified today.

Hope your day is better than feared @MrsJonesAndMe.

We've just spent over £80 kitting out DS2 with the PE kit he needs, @Galvantula and he wouldn't have told me until the day of PE I am certain. I love his school but it annoys me so much how often they change the PE and games kits and how much they need. Both my son's went there and the eldest's kit was changed and now the younger one has too Angry. £40 or more for one PE too when they need three is ridiculous and there is no need for branded shorts and tops. Glad your meds are working and good looking with your counselling. Mums are terrible at taking time and care for themselves and more often than not the men in their lives should hang their heads in shame that they don't facilitate more free time for the mothers of their children.

Welcome @jazzyroll. You have to start somewhere and you have come to the right thread. One pound is all it takes to start. We'll help and support you.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/08/2020 14:36

Oh you're up north of the border @Galvantula. Good luck! Any hand me downs? I saw a counsellor years ago and paid good money and just sat and sobbed through the first session. Always felt wretched afterwards, but it was a positive thing to do overall.

You can do it @jazzyroll Just break it down - maybe 3x 25lbs and maybe a goal like the first stone off by October or whatever.

I'm doing OK @SunshineCake Nearly Friday. Struggling with emotions and work and not enough sleep, so all one big pile of poo really Wink But know I'm lucky in lots of respects.

I'm trying to plan and buy/organise some stuff in case we do have a winter lock down or at least quarantine which seems likely as somebody will develop a cough or fever at some point - won't they? Books, art supplies, marshmallow toasting kit, Lumie light and vitamins and I will need to go through the food stash to make sure things are used up and replaced before the autumn.

Any other ideas?

SunshineCake · 06/08/2020 15:45

Clothes for kids that grow like weeds like my youngest has this summer.

Wellies, slippers, pyjamas, coat, hat, gloves.

Hand wash!

Face masks.

Games, books, felt tips, jigsaws.

Galvantula · 06/08/2020 20:01

@MrsJonesAndMe a few hand me downs, but unfortunately oldest is a sleeve chewing dirt magnet 😅 little one can get any of the boys stuff that isn't wrecked, but she has asked for pinafores and a cardigan instead of a jumper. Actually need to double check who needs what to be finished 😵

The counsellor is kind of to work on changing how I think about myself since the diagnosis. I've spent almost 40 years thinking I was just a bit rubbish, not that there was a reason I had trouble. I'm doing a bit of the work myself reading books too. The medication should help, but I need to work on ways to help myself too.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/08/2020 21:04

Good list @SunshineCake

You'll get there @Galvantula sounds like you're very self aware, so a good start.

I did a HIIT video instead on the basis that it will be too hot tomorrow night, so yoga tomorrow instead...or maybe just fall into a vodka and lemonade with lime Wink Depends how the day goes!

SunshineCake · 06/08/2020 22:24

Also socks!!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 06/08/2020 22:31

My prep list which I'm gradually working my way through for winter/Brexit is below. I did this for Brexit earlier this year and it came in really handy when we went into lockdown in March as we had enough food and stuff in the house to not need to shop for weeks. Have made a few modifications on toiletries and medicines that are more COVID focused.

Toiletries

  • loo roll
  • hand gel
  • soap bars
  • toothpaste
  • tooth brushes
  • bleach

Medicines

  • paracetamol
  • Sudafed
  • ibuprofen
  • calpol

Food

  • tinned tomatoes
  • tinned fruit
  • beans
  • pasta sauces - tomato and Mac n cheese style
  • frozen veg
  • frozen meat
  • frozen fruit
  • gnocchi (usually lasts a couple 3 months if you check dates)
  • rice
  • pasta
  • flour
  • sugar
  • yeast
  • bicarbonate/ baking soda
  • instant mug cake mixes for quick puds and treat and some box mixes which are good for entertaining DD

Clothes

  • next size up for DD who must be sleeping in compost or something because she never stops growing, also some cheap wellies and trainers in next size up.

Xmas pressies

  • mainly done now, just a couple more to get. There have been lots of good sales recently and I don't want to be queuing in rain/cold near Xmas

Toys and activities

  • craft stuff
  • some kid magazines with the free plastic tat on
  • colouring, activity, joke books from poundshop and charity shops
  • remnants of fabric so DD can make dolls clothes
fallfallfall · 07/08/2020 00:12

wow oh wow well done torys
to toiletries i'd add deodorant as it keeps
medicines i'd add an antibiotic ointment here we can still get polysporin but i'm sure you have the equivalent over there.
earlier people were chatting about sleep? that eludes me most nights but since i don't work it's not really an issue. i take the occasional melatonin or tylenol ES if need be. my deepest sleep is after 4am, and i never get out of bed before 8...but life wasn't like that when i had the kids or worked that's for sure.
