Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Enjoy your day @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50!

@Foreverlexicon your commitment to exercise is impressive!

Ended up making Spinach & Parmesan omelette rather than mushrooms for lunch. 😋

Good afternoon all.

Rather than start my own thread, is it ok if I join you here for some accountability?

Current weight 243lbs, I have gained about 7lbs since the beginning of lockdown which I could ill afford to do. I was fairly productive in May and got to week 8 of C25k, and was doing yoga (badly) via the Down Dog app 4 times a week. In June I had a bit of a personal setback and together with finding that the longer runs caused stress on my knees I struggled to get the motivation to carry on. I am concerned for my ongoing health so need to make commitments to myself. Have started to follow 16:8 as I find intermittent fasting the best way for me to approach weight loss.

My plan for August is
Follow 16:8 - usually 11am until 7pm. Calorie count to see what TDEE looks like.
Restart c25k from week 5 but switch to 2 x 15 min runs with a walking break if I find it too strenuous on knees
Practice yoga via app 5 times per week

I would like to drop 4lbs by the time I go back to work on 1st September. My daily routine will then look completely different so I will work out what to adapt but hopefully having built up some good habits.

TheRealHousewife · 03/08/2020 14:40

Hi @MalmseyWhine A warm welcome, yes of course you can join us😊. Your plan to lose lbs by September sounds very doable.

I log all my calories via MFP. I also pre enter all my planned meals for the week and I know exactly what I’m having when. I find that stops the obsessing and worrying about what I can eat. Good Luck!

Hi everyone and welcome to @MalmseyWhine @HettyPain @Sundaypolodog @Aurorie11* @happinessischocolate.

This is a fabulously useful thread with knowledgeable and friendly people. I was going to say women but that was an assumption though I'm fairly sure we are all ladies.

Another fan of chocolate raisins but sadly off limits now due to dairy. Talking of M & S does anyone remember a loooong time ago they did garlic and herb crisps in a light blue packet? Every time there is a thread about food missed I post about them and I do not think anyone else remembers them Shock.

*@Galvantula we also had pizza yesterday but it was DDs birthday and DS1 made the dough from scratch. Mine was a plant pizza so not a bad choice and we will ignore the one slice of DHs I had but he was having literally my favourite toppings so...Grin.

*@Aurorie11** Flowers I am so sorry for the loss of your Mum. Such a horrible virus and difficult time for so many. Be kind to yourself and ask for support if you need it.

*@happinessischocolate** I have tried weighing weekly and daily. Weekly made me feel like I might miss any losses and daily made me fed up at times. Not I try and wait and only weigh after every third run which helpfully works out roughly weekly and is a bit better for me emotionally. Sometimes I weigh extra but on the whole I wait.

*@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 how was your day out and lunch and how did MiniTory get on with the swings, etc? Lovely to be out. We went to the beach a couple of weeks ago and it was just good to get out of the house and see our dog playing in a new place. Maybe order the sandwich filling but ask to leave off the bread. I'm thinking something like a ham, cheese and salad sandwich would work without the bread.

*@Foreverlexicon sometimes I think we don't lose weight because we don't eat enough. I have had several weigh ins where I have thought how can I be down when I ate XYZ but then I have also had too many how can I be up when I have down well?!?!

*@MalmseyWhine** I started Couch to 5K in May and not just run without the app as I finished it. Definitely watch your knees. Something is better than nothing. I'm proud then even when I have found it hard I have never slowed to a walk and keep running even if slow. I ran 5.5 km this morning but I was quite slow. I manage every other day okay but I get the feeling dh thinks I should aim to get faster where as I think I would like to run further and aren't bothered how long it takes. I'll do what I want !

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/08/2020 17:34

Hi all, we had an absolute ball.

They had a 1 week old Pygmy goat, just the cutest little thing, and llamas, donkeys, sheep, cows, rabbits, guinea pigs and an array of birds.

DD rolled down Tumbling hill, explored the woods, made a den out of branches, pumped water into a little stream set up they had and dug in the sandpit, rode tractors and went crazy over the slide.

B - Greek yoghurt with pecans and a drizzle of maple syrup
L - 3 chicken selects from McDonalds
D - chicken wrapped in bacon with steamed grated carrot, broccoli, sweetcorn and peas

S - 1 scoop mint chocolate icecream at the farmpark and 1 skinny latte coffee drink (emmi brand)

Saraban · 03/08/2020 17:35

Hi all - room for one more? I’ve been following threads on this board for a little while, having had a nasty shock 2 weeks ago when I hopped on the bathroom scales at a friend’s house (I didn’t own any myself... that has now changed!) and realised that according to BMI, I am technically overweight Shock Only just - 26.3 - but wow, how did that happen?! My weight has been creeping up for years, and lockdown has seen me comfort eating a great deal. I was shocked that my mental image of myself no longer aligns with the physical reality.
I’ve joined WW - my mum had success with them in the past - and have really been enjoying that, although the WeightWatchers board here is fairly dead. I think just being conscious of what I’m eating has been the biggest step for me, and I like that I’m still able to eat whatever I want really, just in moderation. Looking forward to being along for the ride!

SunshineCake · 03/08/2020 19:25

Sounds lovely *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. She'll sleep well tonight!

Welcome *@Saraban.

Hi all
Im dipping my foot in.

Lets get the fundamentals out the way first
14st 6, or 201lbs 5ft 6. I am dedicated to coca cola and potatoes.

Ive been 4 days without a coke, replaced with 2 coffees a day and lots of water. So far so good, but with experience its usally day 8 when i fall (lord knows how many times ive tried in the past) i have been drinking it since i was a teen im now 39. Im a veggie so my diet is mainly potatoes (chips and crisps) cheese. I dont eat all day or i snack early thrn have nothing relying on the coke to fuel me. Ive balloned to a size 20. Im 40 in january and i want to be at least 3 stone lighter. Life is busy but i cant eat like a teen anymore and i have to do something once and for all.

rivierliedje · 03/08/2020 20:00

May I join too? Currently weigh more than I ever have, stress eating and being less active then previously; too much screen time and too many snacks/treats.
10st 12, 5ft4
A lot of family members have a history of high cholesterol and high blood pressure (also long line of early heart attacks) and I want to be one of the long lived ones. I have a big birthday coming up and I would like to try to conceive soon. Lots of reasons to make a change. But i find it very hard.
I did go for a run this morning and am going to roast some veg to eat with quinoa for dinner.

RubySlippers77 · 03/08/2020 21:01

Hi all - will be back later to read everything on the shiny new thread (thanks @TheRealHousewife!) but am just absolutely shattered after a weekend away with the DC and then a tummy bug. Urgh. Trying to catch up a bit on MN but off to bed shortly!

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/08/2020 21:09

Hello, it's great to see some new faces joining in. For all of you starting out it is worthwhile, but not easy!

I've eaten too much junk this PM to get me though, but sticking to my eating window and exercising.

HettyPain · 03/08/2020 21:19

Thanks for all the welcomes and great to read so many positive updates. Hello to everyone else who has joined! 02Aurorie11 I'm so sorry about your Mum.

I've clocked up 2kg in total of loss now. Slowly but surely I hope. Did a morning workout today too. Am shattered now though. Also ate a cupcake today, which wasn't part of the plan. It was given to me and it would have been rude not to! This has left me -26 calories at the end of the day, which is frustrating! I think I need to chill out a bit but I'm so determined to lose the weight this time.

fallfallfall · 04/08/2020 00:45

oh my the tread is moving quickly!!
hello everyone :) i'm not great at individual replies and being in a different time zone isn't often helpful. not today anyway, pity party for 1 over here as it's my dd's birthday and; the card is stuck in postal he11, the gift i'm making her isn't finished, and the flowers i ordered weren't delivered :(...my poor baby girl didn't have the perfect day (from a mom's perspective that is).
the weight is coming off, the increased cardio seems to be doing the trick (leslie 1-2 times a day so about 75 minutes worth) a 45 minute bike ride and of course being mindful of my food choices.
b. oatmeal with fresh picked raspberries (had to pick them myself...thankfully abundant)
l. toast with tomato slices and watermelon...too much red to photograph nicely
s. oh my pizza! dh will shortly get going on the dough and the toppings are roasted mushrooms, roasted peppers, sundried tomatoes, basil (from the garden), not sure which hot italian sausage (probably capocollo) and some fresh mozzarella.
the salt will be hard to resist and keep my portion size under control.
and considering the recipe makes 4 pizza's it's will power that will get a work out.
welcome :)
real bonus points for logging all the food ahead of time!! oh my that's dedication.
i'm just eyeballing portion sizes. going for fresh, color, and a lunch sized plate. did remind myself last week what 3 oz of meat actually was as our tenderloin steaks can easily be 10oz...like mini roast size. welcome to the land of AAA beef.

MalmseyWhine · 04/08/2020 08:13

Thanks for welcome.

Succesfully did 16:8 yesterday - actually was more like 18:6 as I didn't eat until abiut 1.15pm. Just managed to finish dinner before 7pm! Did a ploddy W5R1 and 20 mins Down Dog yoga so am feeling a bit stiff today.

It's going to be warm and sunny today so I need to do a work out soon while it's cooler.
Have a good day everyone.

wizzler · 04/08/2020 08:14

Hi,
I've been losing weight since mid may and have lost nearly a stone. Now just over 12 st.

I've been on a different thread but the initial enthusiasm over there has waned and now there's on a couple of us posting.

I definitely find the positivity of Mn encouraging, and posting my updates keeps me on the straight and narrow.

So I though I might sneak on here if that's ok?

TheRealHousewife · 04/08/2020 08:52

Good Morning You Lovely Lot 😊

Have you all got your meal plans planned for today? I need to keep reminding myself to drink water. Sometimes it just won’t go in.

Setting out our intentions early on in the day (or week) can help in staying on track.

Welcome to the newbies. @Saraban @Imonlydoingwhatican @rivierliedje @wizzler If you’re looking for none judgmental support from a great group of people, you've come to the right place. 👍

Welcome back @RubySlippers77 😊

@fallfallfall 75 minutes of Leslie is impressive! 👍

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 sounds like you had a blast! I’d enjoy doing dens and stuff 😬

Wishing everyone a great day.

Hi everyone

I resisted the urge to weigh so am pleased and won't weight tomorrow as decided not to run until Thursday. I have an appointment and it will be all too rushed plus I think an extra day of rest will be beneficial.

Just tucking into home made spicy carrot soup. Nice enough but a tad spicy. Dinner will be a chicken tray bake with as many veg and salad bits I can come up with.

TheRealHousewife · 04/08/2020 19:02

Gosh it’s quiet on here today 🤔

@SunshineCake Spicy carrot soup sounds nice 🥕.

Hi, been busy running round after too many children. Food so so and a yoga video done. Main focus at the moment is sticking to my eating window, getting daily exercise and sunshine/fresh air and taking my vitamins.

Lots of new faces, I'm glad you're on board. We have also had a drop off here, but always someone to listen.

Oh that is such a shame @fallfallfall We've had similar problems with family far away and not being able to get something over to them.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 04/08/2020 21:02

Busy day today running around after DD who woke up in an energetic mood, she reminds me of the energiser bunny some days, it's exhausting Grin

B - was a bit of a 'what do I have left in the fridge' affair, so I cooked up bacon bits, turkey pieces, cherry tomatoes and spring onions
L - wafted thin chicken and salad wraps
D - pork loin steak with gnocchi

Hopeful that tomorrow weigh in will reflect a good week of eating but we'll see in Lethe morning.

wizzler · 04/08/2020 21:51

I'm on holsi in Northumberland so unable to weigh in daily .

I thought I'd be bingeing on meals out and ice creams, but because of the virus there are queues outside all of my usual gah gas so I am eating surprisingly sensibly with high hopes of at least staying the same this week

Aurorie11 · 04/08/2020 22:16

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster food wise, but did get kids out for a walk about 4 miles.

Today has been much better no snacking. Scrambled egg with slice of toast for breakfast. One slice tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich plus nectarines for lunch, then we ate out to help out (my Dad wanted the company) chilli and rice, couldn’t quite finish it all and left half of the garlic bread. No snacking at all. Plus another 4 mile walk with kids.

Back to work tomorrow after a couple of days holiday

fallfallfall · 05/08/2020 01:01

all's well over here, avoided the pizza at lunch and cooked up some chicken breasts (in a dry spice pack that was dated best before 2009...) with some other spice mix (been in fridge way too long) along with some tomatoes and onion (pureed). honestly it's baked in the oven for 3+ hours what can go wrong??
either way the plan is for green salad and this spicy chicken (pray dh does not check the packaging in the garbage).
exercise is fine, will bike this evening.
the flowers have not arrived :(

TheRealHousewife · 05/08/2020 07:25
