Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

Hi everyone

Thank you for you good wishes on my cycling. I was rewarded on the scales this morning Grin. I weighed twice having put my glasses on as wasn't sure I could see properly. This was after I had run 6.67km! I am definitely getting faster and I realise I have been doing better than I thought as I hadn't understood the stats BlushGrin. I then walked the dog for 1.5 hours though we stopped a lot to chat so didn't get far, just 2.12 km.

I hope the carpet fitting is going well, *@Foreverlexicon. We need new carpets in the hall and on the stairs and landing but with kids, animals and humans who don't wipe their feet, cats who use the stair as a scratching post, I have said to dh not yet.

*@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 your post has made me realise that next week is the start of people going out all day. Feel a bit sad. DS2 goes back to school and then DD the following week. My eldest isn't due back at uni until October so he's here mostly. Kids not entirely happy about going back as ds worried it isn't safe.

*@TheRealHousewife I keep forgetting to say thank you for noticing that my posting my actual weight was a big deal.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

ZebraSpotts · 27/08/2020 13:59

I went through clothes I'd years ago packed away into suitcases, this morning. Having dropped another pound on the scale recently, taking total loss to 31 pounds.

Was a size 24/22 in May.
Tried on various items, I'm a 18/20 currently.
Happy days! Haven't steadily been a size 18 for 4-5 years!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 27/08/2020 15:29

Well done @SunshineCake you're doing so good with all your running and biking and I'm glad it's showing up on the scales for you.

I can't wait to drop a clothes size @ZebraSpotts I'm in size 22 and desperately want to get to an 18 so I can just go to a normal shop and know they'll cater to my size. Places like new look and H&M have all made their big sizes online and it feels like they're saying 'we want you to give us your money but not show up with all your fat in our shops'. Angry

SunshineCake · 27/08/2020 17:50

That is great *@ZebraSpotts. Well done.

A got rid of a pair of black jeans I don't think I had ever worn as I thought I would never get into them. I bought them when I tried on a blue pair, forgetting that black clothes are always a bit smaller and didn't try them on. Of course they would fit now. Grrr.

Just done another 25km on the bike.

Maybe start a campaign, *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 as they might not mean that but if you feel it...

rivierliedje · 27/08/2020 20:03

@SunshineCake You are being really inspirational with the exercise!
@TheRealHousewife Thank you. Those are helpful.
It continues massively busy at work and often just me in (confluence of annual leaves being taken). I feel I should be spending more time outside, more time reading, playing music, knitting, gardening, cooking etc and much less time doing nothing on the internet. I know I will feel better if I go for a walk or run, and yet it is so difficult somehow.
I did however track my breakfast this morning and go for a run yesterday and am going to go out for strength and flex soon.
I also got off the train early again to go to the library.

ZebraSpotts · 27/08/2020 20:36

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Me too, I'd to shop comfortably in store and leave with something i can wear.
i tried to order stuff online from PrettyLittleThing plus size range, at 32 I'm too old for their wears seemingly. I've kept a pair of size 18 leggings, but could prob fit a 16.
My legs are okay-ish but not remotely toned. My upper body Confused is carrying all the excess, lots around my tummy. I'm apple shaped. I look like an apple on a stick lol.
So out of 15 items, i can keep 1. Urghh

I really didn't see how big I'd gotten. If i cant fit mainstream attire now having gotten half way, i must of shrouded my size before.

Thing is....i love myself at every size! So blinded to it a bit. Grin

ZebraSpotts · 27/08/2020 20:37

@SunshineCake
Black clothes are always a bit smaller?!

Yep, something to do with the dye. Annoyingly I bought two exact bras in white and black and the white fits fine and the black makes me look like I'm auditioning for page three Hmm.

Galvantula · 28/08/2020 06:12

Hmm🤔

It does seem like a mini whoosh here, down to 59.2kg today. I didn't weigh the lay couple of days so I'll see if it stays lower. I did the body fat% thing on my scales and it's lower too (although clearly not super accurate).

Will need to remember to do measurements again, it's been a few weeks.

Have a good Friday everyone!

fallfallfall · 28/08/2020 06:18

I think it’s really interesting to read what each of us are doing/trying with a similar goal.
Equally interesting to hear what challenges we face.
I’ve got guests staying at our home, so cardio is difficult to fit in.

Galvantula · 28/08/2020 06:42

I forgot my tiny exercise. I'm doing the walk from my car to work as fast as I can 😅 we have to park quite far away. It's not much, but its automatically part of my day so requires only a little extra effort.

Foreverlexicon · 28/08/2020 07:12

@Galvantula any exercise counts!

I had a good day. Had a bit too much for dinner but eh, it was in place of the annual family bbq and it was delicious and healthy if a bit too much.

B - yoghurt with banana and granola
L - carrot sticks, tomatoes, hummus, falafel and couscous
D - Big salad made with potato, apple and corned beef (nicer than it sounds!), veggie sticks, french bread with butter and pate, cheese and crackers
S - apple crumble with ice cream and caramel sauce, couple of chocolates
E - rode horse and ran 8k

Carpet is gorgeous. Mattress is arriving today and I’m so excited to be out of the spare room - currently sharing a very uncomfortable 4 foot double and my own bed is kingsize and I cannot WAIT to be back in.

Another busy today today; gym this morning then haircut then need to get horse ready for a competition tomorrow. Have a good day everyone.

fallfallfall · 28/08/2020 07:22

Oh I can’t wait to hear how the competition goes 😊 @Foreverlexicon

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/08/2020 19:21

HI all, just a quick check in. Not doing great in mood or weight issues - eating pretty much constantly Hmm hoping it doesn't mean I'm going to get another period!

Take care, I'm hoping for a restful weekend because the next 2-3 weeks is going to be hellishly busy x

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 28/08/2020 19:38

@Foreverlexicon hope the competition went well

@MrsJonesAndMe sorry you're not having a good time of it today and I hope you do get a restful weekend to relax and recuperate!

Still slugging on with the diet, been more difficult today as it's been a chilly rainy day and I just want some stodgy food.

Leicester lockdown review happened today and no change, all stays the same for at least another 2 weeks. So kids are all back at school but we can't have family round for a cup of tea. Ludicrous!

Just got some good news though, back in March when the world went to shit my work told us that they would have to temporarily cut pay to 80% pay for 100% work. Finally they've announced its going back to 100% as of September. Can't wait as while we've been OK due to reduced costs, this will mean actually having a bit spare that can be saved.

fallfallfall · 28/08/2020 21:19

@MrsJonesAndMe positive thoughts coming your way, I hope your mood and energy pick up soon.
@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50, I just made cabbage casserole for tonight. Typical cold weather food, but I was shocked how much cabbage I put in it (shredded it, along with kale) so winter comfort food need not be stodgy.

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/08/2020 21:49

Thanks it's nothing and everything. Just want to hibernate through the next 6 months.

I saw that @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 and I was fuming on behalf of you all. We've had a sudden increase (from 5/100 000 to 23/100 000) but they're all in the other town which makes up our borough. Worried that we'll be locked back down!

Foreverlexicon · 29/08/2020 04:00

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 that must be so frustrating. I hope it passes quickly for you

@MrsJonesAndMe hope you’re feeling a bit better today and you get a nice relaxed day.

I’m awake at an obscene hour today ready for the competition. Yesterday was a good day; I did a HIIT class which was savage and man am I feeling it!

Yesterday was a good day. Lunch left a little to be desired but the rest was good.

B - wrap with bacon, egg, cheese and avocado and a satsuma.
L - pork pie, sunbite crisps and 2 malteser biscuits
D - sundried tomato and basil cod fillet, rice and green beans
S - double chocolate chip cookie
E - HIIT class, 20 min swimming and rode the horse.

I’m not going to have the healthiest couple of days as competing today which is always a bit of a treat day and then going to a hen do tomorrow but it’s going to be a great few days.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

rivierliedje · 29/08/2020 09:48

@Foreverlexicon Hopefully the comptetion went well.

I finally weighed in today and I am down. PLus I have done a whole day of My fitness pall logging. SO that is good. GOing for the thrid of the week 4 runs in a minute. Then we plan to go for a walk later and I also plan to build a bat box later to hang in a tree, to encourage bats to come in. Two friends are having three babies between them soon and I am knitting baby hats for them.
Anything to keep my hand busy and away from the cream crackers!

Galvantula · 29/08/2020 10:56

Hope you're all having a good Saturday.

Still 59.2kg today. So hopefully not a blip. Just need to keep up staying as close to MFP target as I can and continue my tiny exercise. I'd like to try and build in a bit of extra walking too, without the kids as they're really slow 😅 We'll see how that goes.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 29/08/2020 11:06

@rivierliedje I love knitting baby hats, they're just so cute and teeny. No babies in my life at the moment but I could knit up some doll hats I suppose, hmmmm that may be a job for this evening. I've been doing colouring the last couple of evenings to stop myself reaching for the fridge Grin

fallfallfall · 29/08/2020 12:47

@Galvantula I don’t count walking the dogs as anything, no exercise with my two. They stop too often for too long. 59.2 kg sounds great.

SunshineCake · 29/08/2020 13:06

Afternoon all Smile

I've just made pizza for everyone as dh hasn't had one in months and fancied it and now I'm having salad, left over chicken curry from scratch and home grown spinach. I know a weird combo but I'm not bothered.

As @Foreverlexicon said @Galvantula any exercise counts as even if not enough to burn fat it is great for emotional well being. And it is not a blip. Gavel. Well done.

Hope the competition went well *@Foreverlexicon** and your new mattress is comfy.

What does your lockdown entail *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50? I have no real clue about what I am about to do other than shop with a face mask on.

Aww *@MrsJonesAndMe . Hope you get some time to rest or just be on your own today.

I have completed three consecutive days of cycling for 25km and this morning was my 56th run and my furthest distance by a decent amount - 7.7km. I've also knocked about 20 seconds off minutes /km if I've read the stats correctly. I hadn't understood it so have been getting faster without realising. Later I'll go on the bike again and possibly walk the dog if she wants to go out.

SunshineCake · 29/08/2020 13:08

Forgot to post my weight but I'll save that for WOW Grin.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 29/08/2020 13:31

@SunshineCake we're not allowed to socialise with other households on private premises (indoors or garden) or in public indoor premises like pubs/restaurants, so can't meet up with family in a cafe.

We can meet in parks as long as we social distance at all times.

Playparks, gyms, leisure centres, casinos, softplay etc are still closed in the Leicester city boundary too.

Official advice is still to only travel into our area if you need to but non-essential shops, hairdressers, tattooists have been able to open.
