Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

Hello everyone

I'm not sure if I'm feeling anxious, down or hormonal. I am late but that isn't anything new. Had a nice long walk with my dog then went to see a friend. It is the first time I have seen her since before lockdown and it was nice to see her but I find going out so stressful and there was just so many people around.

I'm up half a pound since last Wednesday but that is okay. Whatever my weight I tell myself I am gaining with my running and better eating. I am having salad and tinned oysters for lunch and then dinner will be fish and veg as everyone else is having lasagne.

Wet here too but not too bad so far.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/08/2020 07:04

Morning!

Lovely and sunny today as promised @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 hope you have the same!

It's exhausting isn't it @SunshineCake? I've gone from seeing a friend or 2 every week to having seen 2 friends once each in the whole lock down and another twice.

Have a good day all!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 20/08/2020 07:39

Good morning lovely ladies!

Sun is shining, washings in the machine just about ready to go out on the line. I've had scrambled eggs with hot sauce for breakfast as I woke up starvin Marvin!

Most exciting as of this morning I am 1 stone lighter than I was when lockdown started!!!

Off to the park today as tomorrow's looking like a very windy stay inside kind of day.

Happy to hear you have the sun too @MrsJonesAndMe

Hoping you all have a good day today Grin

Foreverlexicon · 20/08/2020 07:55

Congratulations @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 that’s fantastic!

Lovely and sunny here after a very wet day yesterday. I’m knackered, did a LOT of exercise yesterday and was up too late. I did better on the food front, it could of been healthier but it was one of those days where work dictated I couldn’t have the breakfast I’d packed which had a knock on effect but equally I didn’t overdo it on the sweet stuff and I ate when hungry so pleased with that.

B - bagel with philly and ham
S - cappuccino, crisps and grapes
L - 2 crumpets with butter
D - chicken casserole with lots of veg and dumplings
S - 2 caramel and pecan cookies
E - treadmill 5k, 10 min rowing machine, 30 min heavy weights, 20 min swimming and I had to walk home which took roughly 30 minutes.

Loving the gym! Also did a bodytrax and recorded it; I weighed 69.8kg so I’m up a few pounds. However, it’s a different scale and 18:30 wearing gym stuff whereas usually I weigh first thing naked. I’ll do another one in just under a months time before I go on holiday.

Have a good day everyone!

TheRealHousewife · 20/08/2020 08:40

Good Morning All

Anxiety has dialled down now, thank heavens.

@SunshineCake no I didn’t get tested. From a common sense perspective I’d been no where or seen anyone for weeks. I’d only been out Saturday. In all honesty I think it was pollen/allergy related. Fine now. I also do the app when I remember. Via it/email they asked me to partake In research which I agreed to do but heard nothing 🤷‍♀️. In regards to weight I’m sure you’re building muscle with all the running and stuff. Per square inch muscle weighs heavier than fat. Your silhouette will be changing 😉 even if the scales aren’t.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 WOW 😮 that is fantastic progress! 🥇. That’s so inspiring. Well done!

Right I’m off to potter in the garden 🥕

Have a great day!

Morning all. I'm still stuck at just over 60kg, but I think I've found at least part of the problem. I've been drinking lots more as the medication makes you thirsty/dry mouth. I've also been drinking something slightly more sugary than my normal squash (or diluting juice as we call it up here Grin ). So I've probably drunk almost 1000 extra calories a week the last 2 weeks. Duh! Enough to take me from very slowly losing, to the just maintaining zone. Seems obvious but I've obviously been a bit preoccupied with starting the medicine and trying to record every day any side effects or if it's working. I'd normally only have one glass a day of squash, or take a water bottle of it to work, but I've got through loads.

At least I figured it out. 😅 I'm going to try a sugar free version. I don't get too much aftertaste with sweeteners and apparently this one is nice.

Well done @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50, great result!

Sounds like you're really working on getting fitter @SunshineCake, something I need to get back to.

Glad you're feeling less anxious @TheRealHousewife. It's really hard going feeling like that. I had no idea how much it was affecting me until I started the medication which has really helped. It's very odd to me going about all serene not overthinking everything and panicking all day. 😍 Until the medication wears off, so if I wake up at night my mind might still be churning. But definitely improved.

Catch up later, have a nice day all. 😘

SunshineCake · 20/08/2020 12:43

Hi all

I'm back from therapy. Have been feeling emotional for days and now I feel exhausted. Don't know what to do with myself. Felt yuk all morning from something I ate yesterday. Still feel sick. Just sitting for a bit and waiting for dh to ring me on his lunch. I want to go and see him but feel too out of it to drive safely.

Well done to everyone for their exercise, good choices and weight loss.

Trisolaris · 20/08/2020 12:48

Hi, would like to join!

Have lost 4kg since lockdown then have been paused at just over 60kg for a month then yesterday was my first day under 60kg. Need to get back into doing more exercise to push it down that last 5kg or so!

Galvantula · 20/08/2020 12:53

Hi @Trisolaris, fellow stuck at about 60kg-er here 😅 I'd like to get rid of the last 4ish. I did lose 2 but have put them back on...a few times. This time I hope they'll stay off once they're gone!

@SunshineCake therapy can be hard work! Hope you get some down time and a chat with DH Flowers

Trisolaris · 20/08/2020 12:57

@Galvantula It feels like your body just reaches a stage where it clings to every last gram a bit more doesn’t it? I can get it below but I know I’m going to have to up my activity level to do it!

Galvantula · 20/08/2020 13:12

Yes I feel the same. I've not done any exercise apart from walking and cycling for months. I work shifts so I'm going to need to be creative to make a routine of it when I'm sometimes out super early and sometimes out until late. I should really take advantage of the late weeks as I have a few mornings free with all 3 DC at school now. 🤔

SunshineCake · 20/08/2020 18:22

Welcome *@Trisolaris and good luck.

DH rang at lunch time *@Galvantula but we haven't had a proper chat yet. I watched a bit of tv then did some gardening. Just back from walking the dog for nearly an hour and have had leftover salad and roasted veg with tinned anchovies. I'll have raspberries and strawberries later and then tomorrow morning I will run.

I'm still really tired and I think hormonal.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 20/08/2020 19:19

Had a bit of a cheat day today, went out and had a really nice morning with DD and Nana at the park, then we got McDonald's on the way home and I had the chicken, bacon, cheese wrap which by itself was 500 calories. I might get to the end of tonight just around calorie count but have had carbs and hungry so not that likely.

Back on track tomorrow though and will be doing week 2 day 2 of the exercise programme.

rivierliedje · 20/08/2020 20:05

I started off well this morning, but I haven't been sleeping and it makes me hungry, especially right after work. Which leads to the terrible buying of crisps or chocolate or donuts on the walk from work to the station. (I pass a small supermarket, two donut shops, a handful of corner shops and numerous cafés, it's a terrible walk when you're hungry).
I'm going to make myself a salad now, for dinner and then go out in yet more rain for stretch and flex

ZebraSpotts · 21/08/2020 07:04

Hello hello!
Well done, some amazing inspiration on here.

I'm joining in!! Grin

I've lost 29pounds.
Was 258 at start of lockdown. Over may-aug stopped eating in excessive amounts. Gone from size 22/24 to size 18.
Currently 229, 5ft 8.

Now feeling a bit stalled and stuck and tbh fed up.
Can obv see a difference. But always get low mood during stage where it feels stalled, and like this journey with last forever or is unachievable.
I know the answer is to keep going, effort will eventually reflect on scale.
Basically just trying to weather the storm of current funky mood and ride it out.

My aim is to lose 2 pounds a week now. So i can hit my goal weight of being under 200pounds by new years.

ZebraSpotts · 21/08/2020 07:06

And i do need to start implementing daily exercise too, but haven't yet - going to need to push myself on that element.
I'd be happy to just do 10,000 step walk in the early mornings, so that might be the plan.

fallfallfall · 21/08/2020 07:40

Welcome ZebraSpotts
I go through long plateaus as well. In my case I’m never really sure why.
If I have a flat stretch these last 9 days of the month I’ll know why.
Believe or not I’ve received info on a proposed cell tower in front of my home!
That and canning...oh my I need to deal with that tomorrow!! I should write that down, it’s midnight but I’m on MN calming my mind.

rivierliedje · 21/08/2020 07:52

That's amazing @ZebraSpotts.
I have just realised, from putting things in to my fitness pall, how very calorific shop bought hummus is Blush. And how nutrient dense/calorie poor vegetables really are. I love vegetables, but sometimes it can be easier just to eat cream crackers and hummus.b I have just had what felt like a huge breakfast of mushrooms, courgette, leek and veggie pudding which is fewer calories than a normal bowl of porridge.
I feel a bit stupid just realising this now.

ZebraSpotts · 21/08/2020 08:20

That sounds like an amazing brekkie.
I've lost a lot of my appetite and cravings. Which is very alien feeling to me.
So I'll start with a generous coffee today, until inspiration hits.

And i think that's my annoyance - I'm not eating remotely like i used to, but scales not dropping.
Going to step on the scales later, hope for a smaller mumber.

Ive written down mini goals.
next goal -
•-1 |228, (-30 total)
•-5 |223, (under 16st bracket)
•-3 |220, (under 100kg)

Also started watersports - I'm doing a windsurfing session at end of month, so that's 2 weeks of focused effort. It's easier to balance with less weight. I'm very glad of something in the diary that's going to keep me accountable

Foreverlexicon · 21/08/2020 08:20

@ZebraSpotts welcome and well done, you’ve done really well! You’re right, the trick is to just keep going.

Good day yesterday. Day off formal exercise. I wasn’t hungry for breakfast so just had brunch.

Brunch - bagel with egg, packet of sun bites, grapes
Dinner - chicken casserole with dumplings
S - 2 pecan and caramel cookies
E - rode the horse

Plan to ride and go to the gym today before working a late shift. Didn’t sleep too good so I’m tired but don’t start work til 5 so at least I have some down time today.

SunshineCake · 21/08/2020 13:53

Hi and welcome to our newbies.

My period finally arrived which explains the low mood. DH alarm went off a bit louder than normal and made us both wake with a jump. I went for my run which is good but dh had had to leave for work before I was back which I was sad about. I ran 6.16km and my running index was very good.

SunshineCake · 21/08/2020 13:57

Posted too soon!

I was just looking at my chart and I was a bit disheartening to see I haven't solidly improved on any column though lots of improvements then back then up again and then I realised I have only been logging for three weeks GrinBlush.

Back in May three minutes was a struggle, now I am running 6km every other day so I'll take that.

Weight down but it's the 1.5 lb that went on last week.

Not doing much now. Felt pretty poorly when out with the dog this morning, and got quite scared, so I've prepared jacket spuds for dinner, done the washing and dishwasher and now I'm watching tv. Some days I just need a few hours doing nothing. It is blowing a gale outside and I'm seriously worried about our tree out the front. It is going to come down if the wind gets it at the right angle and I am a bit scared.

ZebraSpotts · 21/08/2020 14:14

@SunshineCake
That's amazing! 3mins to 6km, wow

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 21/08/2020 14:57

@SunshineCake you're progress with running is remarkable, I can't even imagine a day I could run 6km.

I just did week 2 day 2 of the couch to fitness program and found it really hard.

I don't feel much fitter but have noticed I have less pain in my knee. I've had that pain for 6 years so had just got used to it hurting all the time.

Today for lunch I had mushroom, tinned tomatoes, spring onions and leftover pulled pork all cooked on the hob together to make a kind of quickie casserole.

I think I need to get more fibre as digestion is feeling a little sluggish at the moment so I added a glass of orange juice to breakfast.

SunshineCake · 21/08/2020 17:15

I never believed I could either. Days when it was run eight minutes were eek moments then twenty were eeeeeeeek but that is the beauty of the app. One builds up slowly even without realising it, the rest walks in between help plus every other day is a rest day, so anyone could do it.
