Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

His heart attack was in February. I'll look in Holland and. Barrett so thanks for that fallfallfall.

@MrsJonesAndMe it was the nurse that rang him and I expect he realised there was no point saying anything personal as she hadn't filled him with confidence already. I'll tell him about he insulin info, thank you. Hope you feel better.

I'm getting up now to go and run in the rain. Had a horrible dream where two men attacked me when I was just trying to buy a protractor and other school stationery bits Sad. Hopefully I can run off the horrible feelings.

Foreverlexicon · 25/08/2020 07:52

@SunshineCake oh that sounds very difficult. Well done for dealing with it through exercise though. I do find it helps but am rarely able to motivate myself when I’m upset!

Thanks all. I’m okay now. Talking through it with a colleague helped and I have a week off now to defrazzle.

Yesterday was a good day.
B - banana
L - hummus, carrot sticks, tomatoes, falafel and couscous
D - chorizo and cod cake, potato, peas and carrot
S - mini snickers
E - rode the horse, bums tums and legs class and swam 20 min.

Miserable weather here. Need to do some work decorating and tidying my bedroom prior to carpets being fitted.

Trisolaris · 25/08/2020 08:40

Hi everyone,

@SunshineCake Sorry to hear about your tough few days and good luck to your husband. I’m a T1 diabetic myself. There are some really excellent resources out there for learning about it and the diabetes UK forum might be useful to speak to others who are going through similar and get support.

rivierliedje · 25/08/2020 10:02

@SunshineCake Hopefully the run has helped. Horrible dreams really disturb your sleep, don't they. A run is a brilliant way to deal with it. I quite like running in this sort of windy, rainy weather, it just feels right.

I've not filled in my fitness planner for a few days Blush. I should do that now.
Strength and flex (not stretch and flex as I keep referring to it) level 4 first one done today and first run of week 4 done yesterday

SunshineCake · 25/08/2020 10:24

Hi everyone again

I am back from a run in the rain on my own and a walk in the rain with the dog. I ran further than on Sunday, was quicker by a decent amount but burnt three less calories Confused. Bit annoyed no weight off but then had a word that I can't expect to lose weight every other day!

Thank you for your kindness re my dream. Not everyone seems to get it that they can upset me but I am pleased to report the feelings passed a lot quicker than they normally do. When I dreamt dh cheated on my it work a long time to get over it but then these men were strangers so maybe that is why? My therapy is definitely helping and we are working more on me now rather than things that have happened.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/08/2020 15:59

Hi all

Glad you're a bit better @SunshineCake Well done on the run, don't focus on calories burnt, you're improving fitness and building strength.

Quick waves to all. Need to go sort out a few things.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 25/08/2020 16:12

Legs, legs,oh my legs. Or more precisely oh my thighs!

Went on a long walk/run/play about at the park yesterday so already a little worn, then I did my cardio this afternoon. I definitely know I have muscles in there even if they aren't very defined 🤣

It's a breezy, blustery, rainy day here. Good on you @SunshineCake for persisting and doing your run in this 'Orrible weather. We've been hibernating.

DD has been like the energiser bunny all day, a kind of nervous energy as she waits for school tomorrow. I ended up chucking her in the bath at lunch time just to give her something contained to do so I could have some peace!

Not convinced tomorrow will show much loss, have been hopping on the scales all week and don't seem to have seen much change, but you never know.

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/08/2020 06:55

Will be hopping on the scales in an hour. Fingers crossed to all.

I feel your pain @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 though for me it's shoulders that are painful!

Foreverlexicon · 26/08/2020 07:14

Good luck on the scales @MrsJonesAndMe!
It’s calves here that are aching!

I had a good day yesterday.
B - fruit and fibre cereal
L - egg bagel and crisps
S - roasted butternut squash seeds and a satsuma
D - black bean and butternut squash enchiladas with homemade guacamole
S - 1 finger kinderbeauno and a handful of chocolate buttons
E - rode horse and cardio day at the gym; interval 5k on treadmill, 10 min stair climber (this is a killer) and 10 min rowing machine.

Currently not happy with the cat. I stroked her bum last night and apparently it really pissed her off and she lashed out at me and gave me a real deep scratch right between the eyes. Really quite deep to the point that I’m wearing bloody steristrips!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 26/08/2020 07:56

WOW update

29/07/2020 - 229lb, BMI is 34.8
05/08/2020 - 226lb, BMI is 34.3
12/08/2020 - 221lb, BMI is 33.6
19/08/2020 - 220lb, BMI is 33.4
26/08/2020 - 220lb, BMI is 33.4

Total loss this month remains the same as last week 9lb

Total loss since starting in March is 13lb, I did drop to 219lb during the week but have dipped back up.

Need to make sure I don't allow a plateau to derail me which has been a problem in the past.

DD has woken up today and got straight into her school uniform and done her hair, I need to tactfully rebutting her cardi and redo her ponytail as she's very proud of herself. She's so bloody cute!

TheRealHousewife · 26/08/2020 08:39

Good Morning Ladies

Weigh day ... how are you all doing. I’m heading in the right direction, albeit somewhat slower. That’s ok.

August WOW:-
05.08.20 = 9st 8.5lb
12.08.20 = 9st 7.1lb
19.08.20 = 9st 5.9lb
26.08.20 = 9st 4.1lb

@Foreverlexicon How are you feeling? Confidence crises are agony. What feels very real in that moment tends to not feel so bad the morning after. Enjoy your week off! Ouch 😣 Put the kitty on the naughty step, the little minx. Sending positive thoughts.

@Trisolaris Enjoy your holiday! We’ll be here when you return 😊

@rivierliedje the mountain walk sounds invigorating 🏔.

How’s it going @MrsJonesAndMe ... are the pesky scales behaving themselves?

@SunshineCake sending a hug. Hope you and your DH are ok. GPs can be insensitive at the best of times. Rant away as much as you need to on here. Great effort on your cycling 🚴‍♀️... you’ll be in the Tour De France next 😬

Great link @RubySlippers77, thank you for sharing.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Great overall result for August so far! 👏🥇👍. Keep going, this time next month you’ll be glad you did.

Last few days of the month. I for one am keeping on it. I’m heading towards 3st lost (taken 2.5 years mind, and developed autoimmune thyroid disease half way). Looking back I was never accepting or acknowledging about being over 12 stone and under 5ft. Not a good look but I just didn’t see it. Similar to now as I don’t feel I look nearly 3 stone less (other half tells me I look great but he also says he never registered how big I got for my frame, bless him).

Have a great Humpy Day 😬

Sorry might cross post as this as took an age to type.

59.8 before I head on holiday today

Have a good week everyone - you sound like you are making excellent progress!

Galvantula · 26/08/2020 09:42

Well done @Trisolaris , I'm still hovering, 60.1 today 😂

Well done everyone on some good results. :) Go us :)

My one year graph isn't all down the way @TheRealHousewife, but I'm still lower than I was when I joined this thread at my highest weight in years. And slow and steady is definitely ok for these tricky last few kg.

SunshineCake · 26/08/2020 11:55

Hi all

I'm back to where I was on the 17th but I will keep an eye. I'll be going on the bike once I am back from therapy and I have made vegetarian shepherds pie for dinner. I walked nearly 5K with the dog this morning and where possible walked quicker.

Ouch *@Foreverlexicon. How is your scratch now? Keep an eye to make sure it doesn't get infected.

Great results *@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 and I'm sure LittleTorys looks adorable.

A loss is a loss *@Galvantula!

Just checked my August results and day one has me Sad.
1st - 11 stone 13.4
8th - 12 stone 1
12th - 11 stone 13.8
17th - 12 stone 1.4
21st - 12 stone
23rd - 11 stone 12.6
26th - 12 stone 1.6

Not sure what any of that means other than I haven't done as well as I thought I had Hmm. Just finishing period, had a bit more chocolate than normal yesterday as eating it and not replacing after dh news. Will try harder Sad.

TheRealHousewife · 26/08/2020 12:24

Hi @SunshineCake I understand your despondency. Don’t forget about all the exercise you are doing. You’ll be building some firm dense muscle which per square in weighs heavier. Plus as you’ve said you’ve just finished your monthly which messes with water retention etc. You’re doing great!

TheRealHousewife · 26/08/2020 12:27

You’re back on it @Galvantula and making progress 👏👍🥇

I think you're all doing great! Star

10kg off in total, so could be better and could be worse. Fasted an extra 2 hours this morning through circumstances, but was fine. Now need to go down some water!

Ouch on the hand @Foreverlexicon

Bet she did look adorable @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

TheRealHousewife · 26/08/2020 13:35

Nah Grin tend to eat between 9-5 or 9:30-5:30 but today ate at 11:30 and will still aim to stop once the smalls and I have had our tea.

SunshineCake · 26/08/2020 19:08

Hello. Hello. Hellooooo

Get me. I just cycled for 61 minutes 13 seconds in the bike, went 25.2 km and burnt 1000 calories!! I didn't push too hard, worked up a bit of a sweat, felt really good. Tomorrow I run.

Feel tearful. Not used to feeling good about myself and that I have achieved something. Therapy was good but I feel tired and emotional now.

rivierliedje · 26/08/2020 21:20

wow @SunshineCake!! That is amazing. You really are doing tons of exercise. Feeling proud of yourself is weird, but just bask in it. And have a big glass of water!

I am in a rut, eating poorly, sleeping poorly. It is so busy at work and there is no sign of let up anytime soon. Schools go back next week and an enhanced and expanded flu vaccine programme is coming in in October and I'm reeling slightly at the thought.
I have been keeping up with the week NHS fitness plan, on week now. But haven't put anything in My fitness planner anytime soon.

RubySlippers77 · 26/08/2020 22:26

Well done to everyone with weight losses Star

Hope your muscles have calmed down now @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50! I used to love going to the gym/ aerobics and feeling that I'd actually worked. Tough as it may be running round after the DC, I don't get the same feeling from it just complete exhaustion

Glad you're feeling better now @Foreverlexicon but ouch about the cat!! Thankfully ours is too lazy to bother scratching anyone!

Enjoy your holiday @Trisolaris Smile

Which apps do you use @TheRealHousewife? I'm hoping to have a bit more time to make the most of things like that once the DC are back at school. It's hard to remember to track anything when I have them constantly shouting and squabbling in the background...

Brilliant work with your cycling @SunshineCake, and I hope you are feeling a bit calmer now, you should be really pleased with yourself.

I need to lose about 20kg @MrsJonesAndMe. It seems insurmountable Sad

I know completely what you mean about a rut @rivierliedje. I bought a weight loss journal today to (hopefully!) help start me off. Firstly though, I need to get a GP appointment to sort out this ribcage pain I still have - still can't manage to get one! - and the DC need to go back to school to give me a few precious hours to myself...

Foreverlexicon · 27/08/2020 07:25

Great results @TheRealHousewife and @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50

Don’t worry about the hovering @Galvantula and @SunshineCake you just need to keep chipping away. It took me over a year to lose 2 stone. It doesn’t matter how long it takes.

I had a weird day yesterday. I had no appetite all day and only had a couple of nibbles until 4.30pm when the gf had to have dinner (early as she has hockey training on wednesdays) so I ate with her. I then had a loooooong evening in without anything to do and ended up snacking a bit too much and eventually had a wrap before going to bed. Next time I will just have my dinner later! But calories were fine and muscles are sore from my workout.

B - few sips of peanut butter and banana smoothie. Few bites of yoghurt, banana and granola.
D - turkey cottage pie with broccoli
S - mini snickers bar and handful chocolate buttons
S - crisps
Further D - enchilada wrap, butternut squash seeds, grapes and kiwi
S - 1 finger kinder beauno
E - full body weights and rode the horse

Getting bedroom carpet fitted today. I’m very excited. Plan to run this morning and ride the horse then we’re visiting my dad this evening for dinner.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 27/08/2020 07:44

Yesterday was a weird day, with DD at school the house was really quiet while me and DH WFH, it's not been like that since March!

I stayed within my calorie target, helped mainly by falling asleep on the sofa at 8pm I think.

B - coffee
L - w mini wraps with shredded chicken, bacon and salad cream
D - spicy chicken strips and green beans.

Thighs have recovered so today will be working on Core.

TheRealHousewife · 27/08/2020 09:32

Good Morning

How’s everyone?

I had a poor night last night. Massive inflammation/spasms in abdominal cavity (previous bowel resection, laser for endo, adhesions). Really don’t know what set it off as eating really clean. Settling down down but feel shattered & washed out.

Great cycle session @SunshineCake 👍🥇👏

@rivierliedje can you find any time to yourself to just breathe. Breathe deeply in for 4/5, hold slightly, breathe out for 4/5. Try this site It will help, I promise, it relaxes the sympathetic nervous system.

@RubySlippers77 I use Zero for IF, Weight Diary, Happy Scale, FitBit App (connects to scale) & MFP. I love my apps!

@Foreverlexicon envious about your bedroom carpet. I’d love a carpet! We are wooden floors & rugs but miss the luxuriousness of a carpet.

Have a great day!
