Hi, here is a new thread, Excuse the ultra unoriginal title. Weighed in at 9st0.5, this morning, aim (as it has been for every month since March) is to get under 9st. Cannot believe we are in the second half of this year.

Good work Badger!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/07/2020 22:00

Yes I definitely take exercise cals with a massive pinch of salt.

Heygirlheyboy · 08/07/2020 22:21

But you can look up average calorie burn for walking/running etc so there is an average. I would definitely think you'd burn 12 chocolate fingers from a 5k run, absolutely.

Virgo1958 · 08/07/2020 23:03

Hope I can join this party. I need to lose weight for a holiday on 14 September. Started 8 June and have lost 6 lbs but have had a couple of falling off the wagon. Trying to do 1200 calories on a 16.8 basis.
I have worked for both Slimming World and WW and have realised over the years that there is no rhyme or reason why you suddenly may put on weight when you expect to lose it. Science just doesn't seem to work with weight loss.
Presently am 13 stone 4 lbs and am desperate to get into the 12's.

Welcome Virgo

MonsteraCheeseplant · 09/07/2020 07:28

Those random 2lbs that appeared on Monday disappeared today. Grin

Octopus37 · 09/07/2020 08:05

Hi, busy day yesterday as I went to see my Dad. Went out for a pub meal, he insists on everyone having light bites,, so had one of those and a dessert and a glass of wine. I need to overhaul our whole family's eating habits a bit cause my DS1 13 has got a bit overweight during lockdown. Feel a bit awful cause I haven't been keeping a tab on what he eats, just been so busy but thats no excuse. This wasn't instigated by me, he got on the scales the other day. I had a Mum who was obsessed with diets etc so have tried to not pass that on and not monitor what they eat too much (my Mum didn't say I should be on a diet, but trying to get slim was a huge priority to her). Have a few ideas about how to shift the balance of our meals a bit, which should benefit us all. Weighed 9st1 this morning.

Octopus once things return to normal he will likely shed it very quickly so you're right not to make it a thing. Sounds like a lovely evening. Another pound down here, impossible, but noting it anyway 9st 8lb now.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/07/2020 09:10

Well done.

I’m back down 0.6lbs. Undeservedly as I had insomnia last night and ate chocolate digestives.

dobbyssoc · 09/07/2020 09:13

Hello - may I join in please. I lost 1st 2lbs from may to June and have now stayed static and it's really getting me down.
Need a kick up the bum please!!!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 09/07/2020 11:12

Hi Virgo and Dobby. Welcome aboard!

Octopus dsis and I were discussing that the other day - we are both actively trying to lose weight - she's perhaps a 12 aiming for a 10. But she has two preteens and they've started to notice that she eats differently - "oh, mummy never has came with us" or "mummy, don't you want a bread roll too?" sort of thing. So she's trying to find the balance between enjoying food with her kids in the spirit of everything in moderation, and dieting to meet her own goals. Difficult. I have always been overweight and I am very conscious of making sure my kids are a healthy weight, whilst trying not to be noticeably policing their food. Fine line to tread.

B bacon and eggs
L soup and salad
D falafel wraps

TheHoneyBadger · 09/07/2020 14:56

I have just eaten 5 biscuits to a total of 410cals. Period better come soon.

It’s not so bad as it’s all I’ve eaten today but hardly a nutritious breakfast and lunch. I’m really sluggish and tired today.

Hangoverstruggles · 09/07/2020 20:21

I was under the impression that protein fills you up! Today I planned my day with more protein than normal and I was starving after dinner 🙈 cracked into the sugar this evening and gone way over on my cals 😁 I'm feeling a bit meh today, and worked out today & yesterday so maybe it was mood or exercise rather than the protein... who knows

Anyway

B coffees, half punnet of cherries 120
L 2 eggs, toast, smoked salmon, tomatoes (not hungry at all at this stage) 360
D pasta with tomatoey sauce, 200g chicken, protein yogurt 700

Raging hunger & sugar craving so... twirl finger, big handful of haribo, banana, loads of grapes 350 😩

Total 1500 / 128g protein. Will try harder tomorrow!

How've you all done today?

MonsteraCheeseplant · 09/07/2020 20:36

Looking forward to the weekend! It's been proper grey and miserable here. It's this kind of weather that makes me want to comfort eat in large portions and gorge on chocolate. I've brushed my teeth which puts a stop to eating more for today Sad

B: Yoghurt, toast and honey
L: Eggs Florentine (from a restaurant, ridiculously hard to guesstimate, MFP numbers varied from 300-900!)
D: Macaroni cauliflower cheese and spinach
S: Low cal ice cream, a bite of cake, a Reese's mini cup.
Roughly 1400

TheHoneyBadger · 09/07/2020 21:49

So chocolate digestives and a roll with salami and halloumi and a little bag of cheese puffs and epic napping. Don’t know if it’s pms or just that I haven’t been sleeping great lately but I’m wiped out.

Hoping I sleep ok tonight too and wake up like a new woman tomorrow.

Agree sudden drops in temperature often make me hungrier too. Luckily I’ve slept so much it’s done damage limitation on how much crap I could have eaten but also means my tdee is crazy low.

Heygirlheyboy · 09/07/2020 22:41

Had a funny day as out and about today but totted it up there and looks like 1250 or thereabouts. I have a new allowance now I've gone down [eyeroll] but it's still very decent at 1491 per day. Fitted in 10k steps. I think my period also due, will have to steel myself!

Octopus37 · 10/07/2020 08:16

Welcome newbies,.
Honeysuckle, that balance is really hard. Until now I've never had to worry too much, although DS1 did start to look slightly overweight when he was at the end of year 6 (probably just before he started puberty). This rectified itself for a bit though cause he grew upwards. He is now 13 and taller than me (must be about 5ft7 will a proper deep voice. I'm hoping that he'l grow upwards more soon. DH is 6ft so hopefully he has got quite a bit more growing to do. I know it sounds sexist, but I have always thought that I would worry more if I had girls, probably cause of my Mum always being on a diet and the impact it had on me. Trying to do healthier meals and hoping against hope that we can get back to normal with school and everything in September. He normally plays a lot of football and has started training again. I weighed 9st1 this morning. I'm planning on cooking slow cooker paella for dinner.

Morning. Slept all of last night as well as most of the day.

The exact 0.6lbs I was down by yesterday is back on today.

Now three days late for period Hmm

Will try to pick up activity levels today

Hangoverstruggles · 10/07/2020 09:35

Good morning, I'm still up 0.5lb on last Friday. Never mind!

Think I'm going to make Monday my weight recording day as that ties in with the weekly view on MFP and might help me from going off the rails every weekend.

Meals are planned for today but someone has brought Friday treats into the office so will see how it goes Grin

Hope everyone has a good day.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 10/07/2020 09:48

Hello all,
It is really hard to know what to do with children and dieting isn't it? My DS who is 12 is visibly over weight. He just looooves food and always has done, he's like a Labrador and lockdown has made him even more sedentry. It's a hard cycle because the more unfit he becomes the more embarrassing it is to do any sport. He's dyspraxic too and very big for his age 5ft 9 which really doesn't help. And I really don't want to give him a complex over it.
Aaaanyway,
I'm back I've put on 2lbs, very unsurprisingly as I've had basically 2 weeks off. Getting back on the wagon for real now!
I've missed you all 😊

MonsteraCheeseplant · 10/07/2020 10:04

I've baked two cakes already today. I've got to carve them into a 4 and a 0 and then decorate them for a small family celebration tomorrow. They're about a million calories a slice. With oil and butter and shit loads of sugar. And that's before frosting and decoration. And before the main meal. This weekend will be a write off, I just hope the damage won't be too bad or long lasting...

Heygirlheyboy · 10/07/2020 10:58

Enjoy it Monster it won't break you. I got up late and missed my walk and have had a lunch for breakfast due to lack of supplies Hmm
B/L: mushroom soup and veggie burger. No protein, I know. Like another poster find it nigh on impossible to hit 100g or anywhere near it of protein plus it doesn't fill me up anything like carbs! I'll have an omelette later tho with some veggies and maybe cheese. Aim to get my 10k in and keep up by calorie burn. Good luck all.

Twixes · 10/07/2020 19:19

Hi everyone, just checking in.

It hasn't been a bad week at all for me. Very much still on the 16:8 or 18:6 if I can hack it. Amazingly I'm not at all tempted by junk which I'm hoping will continue for a while. I think my current weight has scared me into not wanting it!

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket and @Octopus37, it's interesting to hear about your sons. My DS is only little (nearly 5) and he's bordering on overweight too. He's just constantly hungry and looking for food, it's a big worry for me but it also drives me insane that he's constantly looking for snacks! He was being monitored by our public health nurse for a while but he came out of the overweight BMI zone so he's not being monitored now but I know a few days of ice creams, bread and pasta and he puts on weight! Thankfully he loves fruit so I just let him eat 3 apples if he wants Shock. As you say Octopus, I have to be careful not to talk about food too much, I don't want to give him a complex! Sure he's still only a baby!

Heygirlheyboy · 10/07/2020 19:37

Well done Twixes, sounds really good.
B: mushroom soup and veg burger
L: Strawberries, blueberries and Greek yogurt
D: my beloved ratatouille with halloumi
Snacks: skinny latte and chic marshmallow cake.
1350 cals
10k steps done.
