Hi, here is a new thread, Excuse the ultra unoriginal title. Weighed in at 9st0.5, this morning, aim (as it has been for every month since March) is to get under 9st. Cannot believe we are in the second half of this year.

6 days isn't that long I don't think. Could be time of the month water retention related. I'd just wait it out another week.
I've maintained again which is great given my weekend wobble.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2020 10:01

It’ll pass then. You know you’ve done the right things so it will show on the scales eventually if you keep going.

Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense like the whole of June I struggled to lose yet this month it’s been easier. I’m learning to be patient. I’ve lost a stone since start of May but nearly all of that loss was in early May and this month 🤷‍♀️

Heygirlheyboy · 21/07/2020 10:16

Thanks both. I know 6 days not so long but what's rattled me is that I was losing so easily in the previous few weeks and suddenly I've stopped. Also the Ted talk about cycle suggested first two weeks are the ones where higher cals are burned..

TheHoundsofLove · 21/07/2020 10:32

Sometimes, I just don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it all. If you just hold your nerve and stay strong, it'll right itself!
I've just got back from the hairdressers - it's a 12km cycle each way, so have done that instead of my run today. It always surprises me that I don't wake up from a fast feeling particularly hungry, so have only just eaten. I suddenly felt starving on my cycle home so have had a cheese and spinach pastry from the bakery.

Heygirlheyboy · 21/07/2020 10:42

Yum. I did wake hungry, regularly do, love my ONO. Well done on fab cycle.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2020 10:53

No it’s the latter part of the cycle where more calories are burned and women are prone to overeat due to trying to stick to the same intake as the rest of the cycle but be too hungry and end up bingeing or eating shit.

It’ll level out

Heygirlheyboy · 21/07/2020 11:53

But I thought while yes extra cals can be added second half it's the first half that is peak diet and workout phase and it's not paying off for me..

Hangoverstruggles · 21/07/2020 12:52

@Heygirlheyboy I think you'll probably have a bigger loss later in the week. I can stay the same and then suddenly lose a lb, and then another very quickly. It not a daily in daily out thing.

TheHoundsofLove · 21/07/2020 13:04

Yes - it's definitely meant to be the first 2 weeks when you can workout harder and see more results from diet...achieve great things, basically! Allegedly. Grin

Heygirlheyboy · 21/07/2020 13:51

And strangely I lost about 4 lbs in the two weeks before! So the extra calorie need teamed with less in was what shifted things for me. Who knows. Anyway I'm feeling good so hopefully it will pay. More sea time for me later! Enjoy your splash iggle.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2020 15:45

Quite possibly yes. I was always taught that the menstrual at pre menstrual end was all about purging, releasing and letting gyof stuff so if you can harness that end then the universe will collaborate. The ted talk argued that yes we use and therefore need more calories at that end therefore either we can manage to go with that and gain greater losses (as I did with an extended fast with greatly reduced activity this time) or we can end up unconsciously overeating to compensate for the extra cals we needed but ignored and therefore ended up hungry and rebelling.

There’s nothing really said about the other ends of our cycle other than ‘comparable to men’ who most diet advice is designed upon.

My understanding, and what my anicdotal evidence of one woman, seems to suggest that doing less but not eating more yields results in the week before ones period. Doing less and eating less/fasting gets great results.

Your experiments may suggest otherwise but for me personally it made sense. I knew already that if I could manage a fast in pmt time the results were boosted but the video explained why.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/07/2020 15:52

Sorry loads of typos main gist being that even if I burn less but don’t eat more I lose weight at the latter end of my cycle.

For me that means it’s better to slack off normal exercise routines but not eat extra in the week before my period. I already have an increased calorie need and exercise just makes me hungrier. But if I leave food intake the same the extra calories needed will result in a deficit despite me moving less.

Hoping I make sense but a bit of daytime bubble friend drinking has occurred Hmm

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/07/2020 16:08

Afternoon.

B salmon omelette
L baked beans and sausages on toast, rice cakes
D chicken casserole and broccoli

Went on a walk last night which turned in to a 10 hike up and down hills so bit stiff today. Will try to get some jogging done later but I'm meeting friends in a garden for a catch up tonight. (I usually run at night)

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/07/2020 16:09

10km hike

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 21/07/2020 18:07

Hello lovelies, I've done well up until now, but I've just set my out of office email and wine is in order!
B. Skyr yogurt and nuts, coffee 200
L. Bacon and tomato sandwich, apple
S. Twister, olives, a few hazelnuts
Dinner will be veggie kiev, oven chips & peas, wine
I'm thinking I'll get up to about 1800 if I try not to be too ott
8000 steps and I'll go for another walk in a bit

MonsteraCheeseplant · 21/07/2020 18:09

I have obsessed about food today. Hating the calorie limits Grin. This is the highest risk time of the day for me. I'm doing great right now, I have my meals all set up for a good day within calorie limits but all I want to do is stuff my face with chocolate and biscuits. I feel like my resolve is petering out.

B: Yoghurt, toast and honey
L: Chicken soup and a chocolate biscuit
D: Spag bol
S: chocolate biscuit, 2 Reese's minis, kinder bueno individual piece, piece of blue cheese

Well, we'll see.

Octopus37 · 21/07/2020 22:06

Monstera you've done great and have lost loads, think its normal to lose resolve. Have eaten loads today, went to a friend's house for lunch and then had pizza for dinner so expecting a gain tomorrow

Thanks, i'm worried about saying fuck it and the wheels falling off but one day at a time. We can but try. Turned out a 'good' day in the end. Think my mood is getting to me.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 22/07/2020 08:55

Well done Monstera. That's great. Sorry your mood is low though, it's always hard to eat well when you feel rubbish.

B bacon omelette
L chicken casserole
D swede, apple and broccoli tray bake
S rocky road

MonsteraCheeseplant · 22/07/2020 10:28

God a bacon omelette sounds epic right now!
I reckon my mood will pick up in a week and a half when I collect two teeny kitties Grin

HoneysuckIejasmine · 22/07/2020 10:30

I would heartily recommend eggs for breakfast. Low calorie and full of protein, so I am often not that hungry when lunchtime rolls around.

TheHoundsofLove · 22/07/2020 10:46

Oh yes Monstera - I'm sure that will probably do the trick! Grin
My go to meal if I'm trying to minimise carbs or can't think what else to have is a cheese, chive, mushroom and red onion omelette - so tasty, light and filling!
I got up and did a 5k run with my son before school Halo and then have just cycled an 18k round trip to a local town that I needed to go to. I haven't felt hungry all morning, so haven't eaten anything yet but am looking forward to my lunch - I'm going to have a Kase Bretzel with cheese and chilli jam.

everycowandagain · 22/07/2020 11:22

Morning all, just checking in. I am up slightly with some AF bloat, but not too concerned about it because I think it will reverse. Had more of a maintenance weekend which was lovely after a really strict 10 days. Knuckling back down now for my last week before holiday.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 22/07/2020 12:41

Holiday - anything nice planned?

Would anyone care to guesstimate the calories in one of these? The second row down in particular. I have one currently burning a hole in my freezer. What do you reckon? 400? MFP will give you any number under the sun so it's not helpful

HoneysuckIejasmine · 22/07/2020 12:52

4-500 I'd say. A tiny 1" square of homemade rocky road is 120 cals.
