Help!!! I’m only 5,2 and weight 11st 2lb Shock

I’ve just downloaded the nutra check app and plan to lose 2 stone by autumn.

Anyone need to lose a couple too?

Any advise please? I’ve never been so fat in my life Sad

I've not had an alcoholic drink in 3 weeks now - I do like my wine, and I'm partial to a G&T or V&T. I definitely was drinking too much during lock down.

I really struggle generally as DH is very overweight- but he has a limited diet and refuses to eat healthily, apart from bursts of him decided to eat nothing but chicken/lettuce and cucumber - Eating well as a family would be easier if he would eat any sort of veg!

I'm still keeping to the 18:6, and trying to do time on the exercise bike/cross trainer as well as the mulitgym and free weights - I will feel better about myself!

madwoman1ntheattic · 19/07/2020 18:00

Hmmmm. Second week running with no loss. Still can’t quite figure out if it’s increase in exercise (and ergo fat changing to muscle) or that my hitherto failsafe body blitz diet doesn’t really work at 49. Which is entirely possible. Previously I had no issues of dropping 7lbs in the two weeks. This time I dropped 5lbs in the first week and nothing in the next two. It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty close. Hmm.
In any case, it’s a bit depressing. I theoretically knew it gets harder when you are older, but to have no impact at all in the last two weeks of changing eating habits and exercising is a bit crap. Harder work required Confused
I’m not giving up. Can’t. I’m 50 in six months and if I don’t figure out how to lose weight now, I’m essentially accepting obesity as a lifestyle choice. Gah.
Miranda, I have about four alcoholic drinks a year Grin I feel your pain.

MoonBaby1 · 19/07/2020 21:24

Hi everyone, I’m having a bit of a rubbish time losing too.

I used to be able to stop drinking and chain eating toast and I lose masses but something about turning 35 seems to have slowed my metabolism right down. I’m not giving up and I’m going to start moving more as of tomorrow!

OP posts:
MirandaWest · 19/07/2020 22:26

Today I have moved a lot. Two long walks and one of them had quite a few sets of steps. Also had a roast dinner and a lager shandy (forgot i do drink that occasionally Grin)

Tomorrow I’ll be doing week 5 run 1. Am hoping my legs don’t complain too much after today’s exertions.

MirandaWest · 20/07/2020 09:13

Week 5 run 1 done. And almost enjoyable in places. Now need to make sure I don’t snack while working...,

beenrumbled · 20/07/2020 21:28

I got to wK5 run2 before my knees gave out. I'm hoping to get back to it if the stretches I have to do help!

Weighed myself this morning. 3 1/2 lbs off, 6 in total. According to my scales my BMI is back in the green, if only just. Another 7 1/2 lbs to my first target.

My will power is going to be tested this week. My neice has just started her own business and I have ordered a mixed box of fudge from her. Might try to gave one square every few days. Yeah right who am I kidding. Grin

Still no alcohol and doing OK on reducing bad carbs.

Dazedandconfused28 · 21/07/2020 06:44

May I join? I'm 5'2, I started at 11 stone last week, down to 10 stone 9lbs.

I'm starting with gentle healthy eating & 10k steps, but building up to do the Blood Sugar Diet of 800 cal a day, probably will start in August.

I've got an underactive thyroid & I seem to do well for a while until I get all ravenous, shaky hunger & pig out on sugarBlushNeed to break the cycle

MirandaWest · 21/07/2020 08:06

Welcome Smile that is an excellent first week Smile.

I’ve been doing this for nearly 4 weeks after discovering I was 79.5kg (12 stone 7). Next weigh in is tomorrow

sg622 · 21/07/2020 19:38

Wow! I posted on this thread back at the start then I forgot about it . Just found it again and I can't believe there are now so many posts, and lots of weight loss too. Sounds like some of you have been doing brilliantly, I need this inspiration in my life! I started at 11.3 at the end of June and started slimming world 3 weeks ago. It has been fairly easy to stick to, but weight loss has been slow. I'm consistently losing 1lb a week, so a total of 3lbs as of Monday. A loss is a loss and at least things are going in the right direction, but I'm trying to speed it up a bit this week by combining it with 16/8 intermittent fasting. I'd love to get 2lbs off this week. I am 39 and like some of you I definitely find it much harder to shift the weight compared to 5 or 6 years ago and it can feel like a real slog when you're not seeing results on the scales

LemonPeonies · 21/07/2020 21:03

I got a tax rebate and spent some of it on a multi weight set and some resistance bands from Amazon Grin. I'm starting light as I haven't done weights since before I was pregnant and DS is 8 months now and I still breastfeed so have been warned my my Dsis to take it easy. I'm determ to drop a bit before my anni with DP next month, I would like to wear a dress and look nice rather than hiding my double chin which I can't hide in photos atm! Well done everyone. I also don't drink, it's just the junk food and takeaways for me.

LemonPeonies · 21/07/2020 21:03

Anniversary *

sg622 · 21/07/2020 21:48

Good luck @LemonPeonies! Increasing my exercise is the next thing on my list. I used to be really fit until about 8 years ago but once I had kids exercise just slipped way down the list of priorities until it fell off completely

MirandaWest · 21/07/2020 22:53

Tomorrow is my weigh in day. And then I’ll go running. I’ve been walking a lot more and keeping to my calories but as this will be 4 weeks since I started, I’m thinking it might not be a lot of a loss. Am just hoping it is a loss Grin

MirandaWest · 22/07/2020 06:57

Weighed myself and have lost 1kg since last week Smile. So now 73.6kg and I’ve lost nearly a stone Smile

24th June - 79.5kg (12 stone 7lb)

1st July - 77.6kg (12 stone 3lb)

8th July - 75.9kg (12 stone)

15th July - 74.6 kg (11 stone 10)

22nd July - 73.6kg (11 stone 8)

Every week I am losing but it is a little less each week. Am hoping it doesn’t stop altogether at some point Grin

Now I’m off for week 5 run 2

wrensandrobins · 22/07/2020 08:34

Weighed on this morning 12st 1! Bmi 31! So close to being overweight which was my goal for Christmas! I started in May and I have lost 27 pounds!

Dinner at my dads tonight but will be careful during the day and then really on it tomorrow!

I want this so much! Just around to go out and run 2 miles before work :)

Beatricemom89 · 22/07/2020 09:02

I've lost my weight a few times so I can give you some advice. First of all, download an app that counts calories that you've burned and eat. Make a habit to go on foot everywhere possible and make some exercises every day at the same time, that's really important. Do not forget about having enough sleep and rest throughout the day. And it''s always easier to lose weight with friends.

imtheglue · 22/07/2020 16:40

Can I join too Smile I’m 5,3 and started 3 weeks ago last Monday at 13 stone. I’m down to 12,8 but since the end of week one have had terrible reflux - I think?
GP has given me antacids which are due to finish tomorrow but are not keeping it at bay.
I think that I also have thrush and my bloods have come back low in iron.
Anyone else had these issues? I was trying to be healthy and seem to have made myself ill Confused

MirandaWest · 23/07/2020 10:18

Hello @imtheglue and welcome to the shorties losing weight.

Hope your issues get sorted soon - can’t be much fun Sad

MirandaWest · 23/07/2020 10:19

I am much better when I am out walking and don’t have snacks with me. Although my snacks this morning of a wholewheat rice cake and a very small dime bar have been OK I suppose

sg622 · 23/07/2020 10:44

@MirandaWest you sound like you have settled into a really good exercise routine with all your running. As a former runner (although it has been 8 years now since I last ran regularly😳) I'd love to do c25k to get back into it. But I'm often on my own with my two kids as DH is abroad a lot, so when I've started it before I've had to do it in my garden and that gets boring REALLY quickly!! Maybe it is time to just push through the boredom and do it

MirandaWest · 23/07/2020 11:11

I’m lucky in that my two DC are 16 and 14 and so getting out is fine. I work from home 7:30 - 4pm 4 days a week and so make myself either walk or run before work, have a lunchtime walk and then try and walk again after work.

But snacking while working is very tempting!

MirandaWest · 24/07/2020 09:40

Did week 5 run 3 - 20 minutes running without stopping. Nearly ran on a bit more but decided not to do too much at once!

Wanted to supplement biscuit with a bagel spread with Nutella but reminded myself I’ve been doing this a month now and need to keep going.

So had my normal breakfast with a hard boiled egg as well

DulciUke · 24/07/2020 14:44

Down 2 pounds from last week. Really impressed by everyone who has taken up running. Not in the cards for me, unfortunately.

madwoman1ntheattic · 24/07/2020 23:50

I’mtheglue, weirdly I’ve had the same thing over the last few days. I’m not taking anything for it but it’s really grim. I’m just hoping it will settle.
Weighing tomorrow. Have everything crossed as not list for the past two weeks despite working solidly at it. I feel like I need a stone off before I start running. My knees won’t take it yet!!!
