Had my first post C25K run today. Came across a bizarre obstacle. I was running on a path like normal and it suddenly went up. I kept running and found myself going up too!

Seriously, my route today took me up a couple of hills and it made me realise I've never encountered them before. I usually run on a common that used to be an airfield. INCREDIBLY flat. Are there any techniques for hills? My calfs were not happy with them. And when you run down should you go for it with big strides or pitter patter down in little ones. (I chose the latter as it was slippery.)

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 12/07/2020 12:34

Hi everyone, just found this thread, I have just done my first c25k run this morning, I have 3 young dc so had to do it around the garden 😂, no excuses that way though. Felt really good actually, not hard, just right! I'm 5ft2 and 11st6. I need to get down to 10 stones ideally, hoping the running will help me to be fitter and make better choices.

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 12/07/2020 12:36

Miranda it looks beautiful where you live!

madwoman1ntheattic · 12/07/2020 17:06

We have accidentally morphed into a running thread 😂 (that’s ok by me. I used to run marathons and was uber fit, these days I live in what is basically wall-to-wall Olympians and I’m the fat old lady struggling to tie her laces.) Hills - little steps!
I looked a bit closer at my Fitbit weight records - because I’ve been weighzing most days it does go up and down. I actually am 7lbs lighter than on 30th June, and my fat percentage is consistently tracking down even when my weight fluctuates up slightly. So all good! (AF also arrived yesterday, so I think I need to take hormonal fluctuations into account too. Gah.)
I’m still horrified at my weight. I was horrified before lockdown and as I’m a stone heavier now I’m completely boggled. But I’m getting it under control.
I miss greenery in nature! This is the view from my work desk lol.

It’s come to my attention that I’m fat. Pre obese in fact.

For some reason I decided to start pulling weeds out of the patio after we’d eaten and this ended up with Dh and DS power washing the patio and DD and I pulling up other weeds and hoeing. Nice bit of family togetherness Grin.

Am having a piece of the flapjack DD made earlier as I seem to have used up quite a lot of calories today....hopefully the flapjack ones won’t just migrate to my tummy and hips...

beenrumbled · 13/07/2020 07:13

That is a beautiful view. I'm smack in the middle of suburbia but surroundings like yours would encourage me to get out more.

I've not had a great week. I had takeaway twice. Sad

I had my weekly weigh in this morning and I weighed 9st 11 so I have lost 2 1/2 lbs last week.

I definitely comfort eat. And I was drinking far too much but I've not had an alcoholic drink in almost 2 weeks. I'm definitely trying to shift to a healthier lifestyle overall.

Still doing my new stretches for my dodgy knees so I'm aiming to get out for a run in a weeks time. In the meantime doing a mix of excerise bike and cross trainer.

Hi everyone Smile

I joined this thread on Friday. I've had three ok days so far, I'm following Slimming World (again) and although I haven't been completely 'on plan' I feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things. Definitely a big calorie reduction from before anyway, so I guess that's the main thing.

I ran on Friday morning and Sunday morning and am planning on going again today. I aim to run three times during the week then once at the weekend, however quite often end up missing one run so if I do three runs a week I'm happy with that.

My Slimming World group is hoping to restart on 13th August so that's a date to have in mind as good motivation to get back to target as I need to go back but I don't want to start paying again!

Hope everyone has a great week.

MirandaWest · 13/07/2020 08:21

@beenrumbled a loss is a loss and 2.5lb is a good loss Smile. I am looking forward to when my weight is 9 stone something but will take a while to get there!

@istheresomethingwrongwithme calories going down sounds a good thing and I am impressed with the running.

Have good days everyone Smile

KarrieKay · 13/07/2020 08:23

I'm so impressed by all the runners! I love hiking but hate running. I'll get back to the pilates and davina this week.

wrensandrobins · 13/07/2020 08:47

Half a pound on for me this week! I need to up my game! This week is going to be tricky for me too as I have a plans every evening with friends and family, for the first time since mech! Think I will have to be very careful with my other meals and up the exercise! heading out for a run now!

MirandaWest · 13/07/2020 19:04

Have done lots of walking today. And stuck to my calories. Is somewhat frustrating that DH can eat sweet treats and is staying the same weight but I guess that’s just life!

Week 4 run 1 of couch to 5k tomorrow

beenrumbled · 13/07/2020 22:22

Thank you @MirandaWest. I had hoped for more as it was my first week. But it means I have started my journey. (Again)

Enjoy your run!

littleninja · 14/07/2020 08:18

Hi everyone,
It's so good to see this thread is still inspiring so many shorties!

I weighed in yesterday and have only maintained. I did ok with my eating last week but wasn't as strict with myself as I was the week before. This week has already gone to pot too as we had some surprise visitors and celebrated with an Indian takeaway!
I will get back on it today and will be extra good for the remainder of this week - I'm determined to at least lose 1lb by next weigh in!!!

LouiseSP82 · 14/07/2020 08:22

same here..11.7 stone and 5'2..wearing the same baggy clothes!

MirandaWest · 14/07/2020 09:14

Just done my week 4 run 1 - a bit more actual running than last run (16 min compared with 9 minutes) but I did it Smile

Now for another day of controlling my snacking - weigh in tomorrow and I’d like to have lost some more weight

CorianderLord · 14/07/2020 10:01

Get a FIIT subscription - HIIT and circuits exercise from your front room. Yoga too.

Portion plates are good for an easy way to cut food.

And MyFitnesPal. It's boring but it works. You'll be shocked at the calories you're eating

MirandaWest · 14/07/2020 10:27

Have been using MFP for the past few weeks and I agree that I was eating a lot too many calories Blush

But I am now controlling it and the urges to eat rubbish are getting a little bit less Smile

Polkadotpjs · 14/07/2020 15:33

Hello all. Well I got new scales and put on 3lb. Whether this is calibration or the fact I didn't weight for 3 days while old ones were broken I don't know but still. I have since lost 2 of them but not back to the 10 stone 9 lowest weight I had on the others. I've been a bit crap though. Lots of wine. Well half a bottle on several days though my eating is still pretty ok. I'm starving right now though and had period last week so am accepting of fluctuations much more than I was. And I'm liking Noom's non judgemental chars and messages

LemonPeonies · 14/07/2020 21:52

Lovely picture @MirandaWest. I haven't lost any this week despite sticking to my calories and walking more 😥

LuluJakey1 · 14/07/2020 21:55

@MoonBaby1

I’m active (as in I walk between 6-10000 steps a day) but I don’t do any other exercise.

It’s very much from snacking and alcohol.

I’ll look up TDEE it’s new to me.

Not being rude but I don't think that counts as active. 6000 is 4000 below the daily basic recommendation. Active would be 15000 plus in my opinion.
MirandaWest · 15/07/2020 07:42

Just done my Wednesday morning weigh in and I am now 74.6kg. So nearly 5kg off in 3 weeks Smile.

Will do body measurements in a bit Smile

KarrieKay · 15/07/2020 09:43

I'm 1lb down. Since I had wine and pizza last night I'll take that. I'm 11st2 and i want to get below 11st in the next 2 weeks

KarrieKay · 15/07/2020 09:44

Thats great going @MirandaWest. i'm almost inspired to start running!

MirandaWest · 15/07/2020 10:15

My running is currently not much faster than my walking tbh Grin. But I have been doing quite a bit more walking just recently which I am presuming must be helping Smile
