Hi @FatBeGone Smile

Done my first day. Had a shake for breakfast and lunch, 2 Skinny Whip bars as snacks and will have a Fibre One bar before I go to bed. Had chicken stir fry with noodles for tea. Am I doing it right?!

Did my run first thing and took the boys out for a walk. Walk was at toddler pace so doesn't really count, although I did have the 1 year old strapped to my back in the carrier!

Do you all weigh and measure your evening meals accurately to make sure you're below 600 calories, or do you just make something reasonably healthy and assume it's alright?

What about drinks? I've just drink sugar free squash, tea and coffee with semi skimmed milk as normal.

I used skimmed milk for the shakes but interested to try them with almond milk so will pick some up on my weekend shop. Like the sound of warning the milk up too.

I'm feeling a bit hungry, but I like idea of hunger just being a feeling like being cold, hot etc. I don't need to be scared if being hungry and I don't need to respond to it every time.

BryonyG · 16/06/2020 21:22

Well done @istheresomethingwrongwithme, sounds like you're doing just fine! I hate calorie counting so I'm eating M&S calorie counted ready meals - I know they're not great but at least I know I'm keeping on track!

I don't bother logging my drinks - I have probably 3-4 teas with skimmed milk, I've coffee again with skimmed milk and a can of diet coke. I'm rubbish at drinking water!

Almond milk is great for the shakes, just make sure it's the unsweetened kind. If you can find it Alpro do an unroasted unsweetened almond milk which is the lowest calorie of them all, but I can't always get that. I can't tell the difference in my shakes at all.

SallyLovesCheese · 16/06/2020 21:57

Welcome, isthere, it sounds like you're doing it right to me!

I do count my coffee though, because I have lattes so use up to 200ml off milk each time. So I count that by adding it to my My Fitness Pal app. Often my dinner is below 600 by at least 100kcal so as long as my whole day is 1,200kcal I have the calories how I want.

So breakfast might be porridge and coffee, then perhaps an afternoon snack might be a bit more than 100kcal (always hungry in the afternoon!) but I deduct from my total.

Pretty good day today, feeling happy! One day at a time!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 17/06/2020 07:09

Thanks for your advice. I hate calorie counting too so I think I'll carry on with my normal drinks as calories should be fairly low.

For my evening meal I think I'll just aim to cook something that's balanced and healthy and hope that it's somewhere around the 600 calorie mark. If the weight doesn't come off I'll have to start logging it on MFP, but this is still a massive calorie reduction so hopefully I can shift a few pounds without being too extreme.

Looking forward to day 2! No run for me today and the weather is rubbish here so I don't think I'll manage my hilly walk as hoped. We will dash out between the showers though, so better than nothing.

BryonyG · 17/06/2020 08:18

Morning all, hope everyone is well today! I've woken up with a stinking headache, I think it's the weather as it's very muggy and close here. I'm not going to let it put me off though, my day's eating is all planned and I'll be sticking to it.

I've got a long weekd off work and that is really going to test me - normally that would be my cue to head to the supermarket to stock up on lovely treats. I need to reset my brain to see something other than food as a treat. What do you all do to treat yourselves while losing weight?

Dairym23 · 17/06/2020 10:13

@BryonyG drink more water, might help with headache.

Non- food treats what about things like buying a nice lipstick that you wouldn’t usually wear or get a pampering set from Tesco? I hope you get some more ideas x

BryonyG · 17/06/2020 11:49

Thanks @Dairym23. I have a terrible make up habit already so don't need to be tempted to buy anymore but those are good suggestions.

How are you getting on today?

Dairym23 · 17/06/2020 12:14

I’m getting on better today! It’s day 2 for me. SF snacks arrived so that’s been my go to rather than the kids snacks.

BryonyG · 17/06/2020 13:16

That's great, sounding very positive!!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 17/06/2020 19:53

Day 2 done. Had shakes for breakfast and lunch and skinny whip bars as morning and afternoon snack. Will have a fibre one bar this evening.

Had hairy bikers sausage and bean casserole for tea with mash and veg. Probably over 600 calories but I'm having something really tasty to look forward to has kind of kept me going all day. I've felt quite hungry, but I usually do when I start dieting, I think it takes my appetite a few days to adjust.

I'm meeting a friend tomorrow for a coffee and I am almost certain she will have cake. It's going to be very very difficult to resist Confused

Dairym23 · 17/06/2020 22:37

Hope everyone had a good day, how’s everyone feeling with the plan so far?

@BryonyG what did you decide for your long weekend non-food related treats?

@istheresomethingwrongwithme well done for day 2!

SallyLovesCheese · 18/06/2020 07:43

Good morning! Just catching up.

@BryonyG I hope your headache went. I have started buying things for my son as my treat! Even just a pair of socks from Sainsbury's. I do try to keep spending to a minimum though, as not much spare cash!

How're you finding the snacks you've got, @Dairym23? I do have SF snacks but think I might stick with the Proper Corn and cheap kitkats once my current stash has run out.

@istheresomethingwrongwithme I know what you mean about resisting cake while out for coffee! Just try to keep your future self in your mind - cake now or slimmer for life? (That's what I do, anyway!)

I had an okay day yesterday. Had a real sandwich for lunch and managed to eat just a quarter of a grab bag of Wotsits with it. Then a bar for dinner. I did with myself yesterday, though, and the same as Monday, so at least I haven't put anything on so far - I know it'll demotivate me if I don't keep losing, just got to keep my eyes on the prize!!

BryonyG · 18/06/2020 08:01

Morning all!

@istheresomethingwrongwithme - why don't you take one of your snack bars with you for coffee so that you're eating too but still keeping on track? Nicer than just sitting watching someone else eat!

@Dairym23 I haven't decided yet! I think I just need to train my mind that just bring off work is enough of a treat in itself.

@SallyLovesCheese my headache did go thank you. I think it was the weather being very muggy/close as I'm not usually a headachy person.

So I've slipped back into my old habits of weighing myself every day which is not so bad when the scales consistently move down but of course they don't always do they? This morning I am 100g heavier than yesterday so now I'm doubting myself and the whole process, already stressed that the weigh in on Monday will see me putting on or staying the same as last week... Why am I like this?!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 19/06/2020 06:20

Morning everyone Smile

Had a good day yesterday. Managed to resist the cake, to be honest, with 4 children between us now my friend and I barely had time to drink our coffee let alone tuck into a cake, so that was good! It also kept me busy all morning so I didn't end up having my morning snack and lunchtime shake until a bit later, so it all sort of pushed things back a bit.

Last night after tea, I actually felt really full and I haven't woken up feeling too hungry this morning, so I'm hoping my appetite has adjusted itself a bit now.

Going to a friends this afternoon to play in her garden with her children, so that will keep me busy and stop me thinking about food all day! I'll have my shake just before I go and take my afternoon snack with me to keep me going.

Hope you all have a great day Smile

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 20/06/2020 06:55

Hi everyone. I had a good day yesterday until after tea - I just felt soooooo hungry and demolished a loaf of chocolate Confused

Going to try really hard to get back on it today and not write off the whole weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

BryonyG · 20/06/2020 10:22

Don't stress about it @istheresomethingwrongwithme - it's done now, just move on.

I'm low on snacks just now so I'm going to pick up some more this morning so that I've no excuse to fall off the wagon over the weekend. I'm dreading Monday's weigh in for some reason, I feel like I won't have lost any weight, but I'm determined not to let that throw me off track.

LlamaofDrama · 20/06/2020 10:33

Hi everyone, happy weekend!

I had my weekend treats slightly early this week (Wednesday Blush) so I'm going to have to stick to they plan like glue today! Still no change in weight but hey, it's not gone up, it will have to go down sooner or later.

5k run this morning, 300kcal burned has to count for something! Breakfast shake done, lunch shake prepared for and healthy dinner (leftovers) in the fridge.

Repeat after me. I can do this. I can do this. I can, right?

Have a fab weekend, indulging in things that don't contain calories!

BryonyG · 20/06/2020 11:29

Hi @LlamaofDrama, what an impressive start to a Saturday morning! I wish I could get the running bug but everytime I try I get bored after about a week. Don't let the scales dishearten you - how are you feeling in yourself? I can usually tell from the way my clothes are fitting better that I'm changing shape even if the scales aren't changing much.

LlamaofDrama · 20/06/2020 11:36

Hi @BryonyG, I'm rather impressed with myself! I keep hoping to get the running bug but I've never succeeded. It's basically just grim determination, bloody mindedness and a good talking book to listen to that gets me out there! But am I right in thinking you like the gym? That's hardcore...

BryonyG · 20/06/2020 13:10

Yes when the gyms are open I do powerlifting as a hobby so I train 4 days a week. It's a huge help in keeping my weight down!

MellieNelba · 21/06/2020 01:12

Hello - been reading all your threads. I bought the slimfast starter pack and started on Tuesday and am determined not to get on the scales until next Tuesday. I just thought with Lockdown it’s now or never - have no excuses not to stick to it. I have lost a stone in lockdown but I think that was through worry/illness and a bit of following slimming world. I would like to lose another 2 stone. I like not having to think about dinner and breakfast - have porridge and a shake. My evening meal is piled with veg. I will be disappointed if I have not lost weight on Tuesday. I am only 5ft 2 so every pound shows.

SallyLovesCheese · 21/06/2020 10:16

I'm kicking myself: had a late one last night and ate two SF snacks at about 11:30pm, so definitely put me over for the day. I need to get back into the mindset that these kcal are ALL I get in that one day and not keep slipping in other things. I find myself thinking "If it's 1200kcal to lose then if I eat 1300kcal it's still less than I'd eat normally so it's okay." Then over the week I'm eating over half an extra days worth of kcal 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

If the scales don't move tomorrow I'll only have myself to blame.

BryonyG · 21/06/2020 11:07

Hi @MellieNelba, welcome and good luck to you! Keep the faith, if you've stuck to the plan then the scales will show it over time.

@SallyLovesCheese - don't stress too much over a couple of hundred calories. If you've over-eaten yesterday then why not just adjust your intake today to allow for it? One less snack and a slightly smaller dinner will easily balance it back out.

SallyLovesCheese · 21/06/2020 18:28

Because I really like food! Grin

Welcome, @MellieNelba!

imnottoofussed · 21/06/2020 20:08

Well my first week went quite well I lost 3lb (in the first day) but towards the end of the week I've been struggling to stop snacking and I've been roughly guessing the calorie content of my evening meal a few nights. I'm going to have to be strict with the counting. Currently feel like eating everything I can find in the kitchen Confused
