Well done everyone and thanks for the support. Fried chicken fillets and curly fries utter junk food and it was lush.

Meant to say I remembered a gorgeous snack from Egypt years ago that could totally be a healthy alternative to my dry roasted peanut fixation. Took some research but reached out to friends there to guide me. It’s called termes which means nothing to google but I finally found out they’re lupin beans prepared in a certain way.

Found some and sadly they’re the latest superfood trend as so hellish expensive and hard to find here. I’ve bought some though and will see if I can prepare them right and report back.

Halo top arrives on Tuesday and I’m hoping it’s lush enough to never see me tempted by a 1000 calorie tub of Haagen Dazs again!

A friend found this for me!

Octopus37 · 05/06/2020 06:22

Well done on your resolve Iggle. Not a very good day for me yesterday, just ate rubbish as so stressed, weighed 9st2.5 this morning. Sound like a broken record, today's a new day, I just keep weighing and posting to be accountable.

EndlessUserName · 05/06/2020 06:39

@octopus maybe focussing on maintaining this month would be better and less stressful for you? I know I've had a month or two off in this process, and whilst it was frustrating at the time it did me the world of good to step back from it for a while? For me, it has meant I haven't reached my goal yet which is the frustrating part, but I have looked after my mental health which is just as important x

EndlessUserName · 05/06/2020 06:41

Ooh thanks @Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket it has never occured to me to buy something 'fancy' like that, I might give it a go! It would feel like a treat but would be super easy to cook, I like it!!

Todays menu (rough plan)
B - half Weetabix
L- not sure, maybe beans on toast again
D - takeaway! Yay!
S - I also still have some chocolate cake... Need to be careful with this!!

Mimilondon39 · 05/06/2020 07:32

Well done all! I’m down to 11st 6 which I’m pleased with (11st13 ten days ago). Have stopped drinking beer ( mostly!) and used MFP. Factoring small treats in eg the odd Ferrero Rocher has helped immensely!

TheHoundsofLove · 05/06/2020 11:13

Well done Mimi !
Octopus I totally agree with stop - don't be too hard on yourself. Losing weight, I find, does take quite a lot of headspace and sometimes I just haven't had it to give! You sound like you're going through a stressful time anyway and then with an imminent move added to the mix - it would be enough to knock anyone off kilter!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 05/06/2020 13:27

@TheHoneyBadger those termis things look a lot like broad beans, perhaps they could be substituted? I'd put peri peri salt on mine!
I'm doing good so far today. I've promised the kids we'll go get kebabs for tea, but I think a shish and salad is acceptable diet food. It's the chips that push me over the edge...
Does anyone have any good easy breakfast ideas, I'm very sick of porridge but there's not much that beats it in terms of being filling for the calories. I kind of want another sweetish option

MonsteraCheeseplant · 05/06/2020 13:34

Igglepiggle - do you have any restrictions e.g. carbs, max no of calories etc?

Honey on toast is my weekend breakfast which is 156 calories and Muller light (or Lidl own) raspberry and cranberry yoghurt is my weekday breakfast at 84-95 calories depending on the brand. The strawberry ones are good too. Cherry was ok but not as good as the others imo. They're all sweet.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 05/06/2020 13:45

Very different texture Iggle. They’re somehow nut like. Maybe I’ll post you all samples when I do them lol.

Extremely stressful communication with work. Trying not to get paranoid and freak out but I’ve sort of been forced into having to stick up for myself and be clear about things that have been happening that are not ok. Wish that didn’t cause me so much anxiety but it does.

Now the challenge is to not translate that anxiety into calories! Happily though I was only up by a pound on my new low after falling off the wagon yesterday.

May the force be with us all! Especially octopus I’d be bonkers if I was going through house sale/purchase now.

TheHoneyBadger · 05/06/2020 13:47

Have you ever had oat bran galettes? From the diet book beginning with D that I now can’t remember?! Dukam? Something like that. They’re sweet delicious pancake like but low cal and high fibre.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 05/06/2020 13:49

I saved this yummy looking recipe once (pic attached).

Have you tried Overnight oats? Porridge oats, yoghurt and/or milk plus jam or whatever. Here's a couple of example recipes. i used to have them everyday, might try them again sometime, they're good.

Strawberry & Banana
Ingredients:
1/2 c. rolled oats (not quick cooking)
1/2 c. plain Greek yogurt
2/3 c. milk
1 tbsp. chia seeds
2-2 1/2 tbsp. strawberry jam
1 small banana, mashed
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl or jar, cover with a lid or plastic wrap, and allow the mixture to sit in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, stir in the desired mix-ins and enjoy.
Makes 1 large serving.

Raspberry & Vanilla

Ingredients
1/4 cup uncooked old fashioned rolled oats
1/3 cup skim milk
1/4 cup low-fat Greek yogurt
1-1/2 teaspoons dried chia seeds
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon raspberry jam, preserves, or spread
1/4 to 1/3 cup raspberries (cut each berry in half), or enough to fill jar

Directions
In a half pint (1 cup) jar, add oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, vanilla, and raspberry jam. Put lid on jar and shake until well combined. Remove lid, add raspberries and stir until mixed throughout. Return lid to jar and refrigerate overnight or as long as 2-3 days. Eat chilled.

@honey feeling similar here re: anxiety. Very nearly falling off the wagon. Trying to keep at it this week and will maybe do a maintenance week next week.

Sweet breakfasts - totally my bag!! Here's a little list of stuff I love. I can post any recipes if you like the sound of them

Chia pudding with cardamon and cinnamon, berries
Homemade granola, natural yogurt, berries
Smoothies made with milk, banana, some oats, sometimes some nut butter
'french toast' but using spray oil and wholemeal bread, topped with natural yogurt, berries, maple syrup (1tsp goes surprisingly far)
I have loads of oat recipes for a change, like carrot cake oats, the coffee and banana oats that I posted in the last thread
I also have loads of overnight oats recipes, like raspberry and coconut
Sometimes I get mini frozen pastries to enjoy at the weekend with some proper coffee. Or bigger pastries but I halve them to share with family

Love sweet breakfasts as you can see!

EndlessUserName · 05/06/2020 14:23

Sorry @honey I can see you didn't actually say anxiety. That's how I'm feeling anyway. It's a very hard time right now. Hope you're ok

EndlessUserName · 05/06/2020 14:24

One more, wholemeal toast (1 slice) with peanut butter, sliced banana and some chia seeds

TheHoneyBadger · 05/06/2020 15:26

Oh I was def anxious and thought I said so. Thankfully after finally going head on and speaking up I have received some of the right noises of reassurance. Hope you feel better x

TheHoneyBadger · 05/06/2020 15:27

Full moon eclipse tonight btw if anyone needs something to blame weird feelings on

MonsteraCheeseplant · 05/06/2020 16:10

Carrot cake oats...I'm going to need more details on that please! God I love carrot cake.

Hello!

Some excellent breakfast ideas Stop!
Hope everyone is feeling positive, whether that is focused on your plan or planning a treat!

My day was:

B 3 cups of coffee (75)
L oats, berries and a banana (should have been breakfast but work was crazy busy (310)
D 4 large slices of dominoes pizza & half a giant cookie (guessing 800)
S banana (100)

About 1300 - 1500.... I ate some of the kids left over pizza too so hard to know. Literally nothing green 😁

And zero exercise as sat at my desk for 10 hours straight!

Not healthy but bloody lovely. Wanted to treat the kids to pizza after first week back at school / nursery. Challenge now is to avoid picking for the rest of the evening!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 05/06/2020 21:05

Ooh! French toast with spray oil is a good shout. Does anyone have a good recipe for granola? Ideally needs to be lowish calories for me. I used to make a honey & peanut butter one which was delicious but too many calories for diets. I try to keep week day breakfast under 300 calories.
Today's food
B. Toast peanut butter jam coffee (300)
L. Smoked salmon egg scramble, roast veg, small bit of French stick (470)
D. Small chicken shish, salad, 1/3 bag of chips, half a bottle of wine (710)
S. Square dark choc, 2 nectarines (170)
Total 1660
Still under 10,000 steps but might go for a walk to top it up in a minute

Octopus37 · 06/06/2020 07:56

Yes, I think this might be another maintenance month, was 9st3.5 this morning, had our usual Friday take away last night. That said, think I've got something going on with my periods etc, quite uncomfortable which isn't helping. After the house move, I need to go to the GP, also due to have my copper coil removed, although trying to get an appointment is another thing. Will just do my best and keep posting cause I feel that if I stop, all the weight will go back on. Sounds as if everyone is doing well. Some of the food ideas sound great.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 06/06/2020 08:21

Hello hello, happy weekend.
My weight has been really up and down of late which has been emotional and confusing. I'm super glad I waited most of the week to weigh myself again today as I got a surprise whoosh! 10 stone 5! I'm delighted and will be celebrating with my first take away in over a month.

TheHoneyBadger · 06/06/2020 09:35

Congratulations monster.

Didn’t do great on the food or exercise front yesterday but scales say the same as yesterday which is a lb above my lowest weight thankfully.

Could do with being good today as I know tomorrow will be a write off food wise.

Octopus keep posting as you are doing and try to be happy with maintaining till things have calmed down for you. What weight did you start at?

MonsteraCheeseplant · 06/06/2020 09:44

Blimey just discovered that i'm back down to my old G cup bras! It was a sad day when I realised I needed a GG.

Octopus, keep going, you're doing really well not to give up completely. Not because you're doing badly, but because I know how easy it is to say fuck it to the diet when life gets tough. Your future self will thank you for holding on the way you are.
