Monster you are under so much pressure. Have your drinks and enjoy them and write today off other than drinking lots of water before bed. New day tomorrow. And enjoy the serotonin hit from all those carbs.

I’ve been invited to eat in a friends garden at the weekend to celebrate her mums birthday (also a friend really). She has told me the menu and it sounds lush and we will no doubt also drink obscene amounts of Prosecco. That will have to be my write off day.

Still fasting getting to the bit where I get bored and feel like eating just to punctuate the day. Drinking lots of herbal tea instead. Will take the dog out for a last walk at 8 then try and head to bed and sleep. If I can’t sleep I’ll end up eating but have already decided what I’ll eat if that happens so I don’t end up wasting this fast.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 03/06/2020 21:04

I think you mean Octopus there. I agree though, Octopus, this is a crazy time for you, try not to make it harder by being too harsh on yourself.

I'm supposed to be going to a BBQ at the weekend to see my sister and parents in a garden but the forecast is for rain so that might not happen. Typical, it's been gorgeous for weeks.

B: Yoghurt
L: Spanish chicken stew
D: Jambalaya
S: Reese's miniatures, french fancies, a kit kat (104 cals, good value for calories there!)

Went for a walk. Life's feeling a bit monotonous right now. Wishing I could plan a holiday or even just a trip out somewhere.

I feel you @Octopus37, the pressure is getting too much. It's the uncertainty of when it will all end. I hope your house move goes smoothly. Could you get a few days off? I'm investigating getting a part time nanny/ babysitter.
Today's food
B. Coffee
L. Jacket potato, goat cheese, roast veg
D. Spaghetti Bolognese with cheese & half a tub of halo top
S. Two apples, square dark chocolate, strawberries
Total 1500
Steps 13,000

hangoverstruggles · 03/06/2020 21:28

Evening everyone!

Starving today! Wasted calories on a smoothie which really was pointless.

Ran first thing
B Banana smoothie with nutriseed superfood supplement in (not convinced by it), large coffee 220 cals
L Salmon fillet, tomatoes, bread sticks, dip 380
D pork chop, new potatoes, loads of veg, Yorkshire pud, gravy. Lidl own Mini magnum ice cream 550
S almonds, strawberries, 6 haribo

1350 eaten but did run and also walked to school & back. Curbed my appetite this evening with some nice herbal tea we're trying.

Anyone else envious of how much men can eat? DH has lost 12lb because he's been running but doesn't have to watch what he eats at all. He eats big portions, drinks beer and is never hungry because he can eat when he wants! Drives me mad that I have to be so measured! Envy

MonsteraCheeseplant · 03/06/2020 21:43

Yeah it is definitely easier for guys. DH is losing weight on 2000 calories a day.

Ooh thank God you're all here. I'm losing my mind with frustration here. 41 years old, 5ft 4 and stood on the scales nearly 3 weeks ago to discover I was 79kg or 12 stone 8 Blush F**king hell Confused Lost approx 20kg last year through diet and dropped to about 60kg. I have never felt as awful about myself as I do now though.

So as soon as I realised what I weighed I changed my diet immediately. No more rubbish. I dont eat meat anyway (not veggie just have terrible problems digesting it - won't give you the gorey details). Snacks are all fruit and veg. Lots of salads. Everything is low or no sugar. No chocolate or sweets. I don't drink. Low carbing. In 3 weeks I have lost exactly 1lb. WTF???

Other info that might be relevant. I'm pretty sure I had Covid in April. Not tested as I didn't fit the testing criteria at the time but fully symptomatic and a VERY LONG recovery. Still having real difficulty breathing at times and need an inhaler though I never did before.

Also increasing dosage of a life changing drug that I need to take but unfortunately causes weight gain.

TheHoundsofLove · 04/06/2020 07:09

It's such a slog isn't it Just ?! Hormonal fluctuations make such a difference to us women - it's so frustrating! Fasting has previously been really effective, but I'm finding it too difficult to manage alongside homeschooling and having to be 'on' all the time. I also think low carbing would probably be effective too (as I definitely feel more bloated and sluggish when I eat carby food), but how sustainable is that in the longterm? I will keep plodding on, but dear god it's relentless!

Octopus37 · 04/06/2020 07:28

New day indeed, 9st2.5 today, o well. Welcome, Just, good to see another newbie. Hounds, no what you mean about it being a slog even though I seem to be taking a duck and dive approach at the moment. Hangover, know what you mean about men being able to eat more and not getting hungry, think I am driven by hormones and emotions when it comes to food. Just, just read about you probably having had Covid, take care of yourself, sounds like it has taken it out of you. Hope everyone has a good day and that the sun comes back.

carlywurly · 04/06/2020 07:38

Morning everyone, hope you don't mind if I join you. I've just weighed in at 11 12 at 5ft 7 and need to shift a stone. I started the year at 13 1 and was slowly losing prior to lockdown with the incentive of a tropical holiday that got cancelled Sad

I'm doing loads of exercise and my bum, arms and legs are toned - it's the white, wobbly bit in the middle that needs sorting! I think if I gave up bread and baking (and wine) it would make a big difference. I need to get back to logging calories too.

I might make a big batch of veg soup for lunch. I have no excuse not to while wfh.

everycowandagain · 04/06/2020 08:10

Welcome @carlywurly

I am 135.2 this morning so I am down a bit, goal is about 130lbs. I have done my zoom PT and am ready to hit my day. 1500 calories, lots of water, fruit and veg! I am feeling quite hungry so need to choose my food well today.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2020 08:38

Morning all. Couldn’t sleep so broke my fast at 10pm with veggie soup, an egg that was boiled ready for a snack and some salty rice crackers.

New low this morning Smile who knows when I’ll see it again but I’ve seen it which is good as I was feeling stuck.

Yes I did mean octopus, thanks monster

Hangoverstruggles · 04/06/2020 11:48

Morning! That sounds a really healthy meal Honey. So pleased you have a new low this morning - well done!

For beer drinkers, I found 3% beer in Sainsbury's which is only 66 cals a bottle! It's not bad at all and I like that it's low alcohol. It's called Amstel Bier and is in the normal beer section. They also have a decent alcohol free section which are mostly low cal or sugar free 👍🏻

Hangoverstruggles · 04/06/2020 11:51

No Mars Ice though!!

Think there's a supply issue. I work in supply chain for a supermarket and I know we're struggling with supply on certain branded ice lollies due to earlier peak in demand this year.

everycowandagain · 04/06/2020 12:09

Ooh thanks for the beer tip @hangoverstruggles We had been drinking Michelob Ultra from Tesco for our lower cal beer choice but its been out of stock for a while.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/06/2020 12:23

@Hangoverstruggles that's the kind of insider information we need! I love how I have you guess on the hunt for mars ice creams, and my family and my in laws Grin

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 04/06/2020 14:57

Hello all!
Well done on the way you broke your fast @TheHoneyBadger it's good to have a retreat strategy in place!
I'm going to look out for that beer @Hangoverstruggles
Today I'm doing ok so far
B. Porridge, berries, almonds, coffee
L. Turkey and roast veg sandwich with nandos mayo
D. Will be chicken goujons lots of green beans and some home made oven chips
S. Already had an apple & will prob use up any extra calories with some halo top.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2020 15:14

Ahh beer. I’m doing ok not having it in the house. Not sure how I’ll manage when pubs reopen.

TheHoneyBadger · 04/06/2020 16:30

I’ve ordered take away. Rubbish I know. I finally faced writing an email I’ve been putting off to try and deal with a work situation I’ve been stressing about today.

I hadn’t eaten and I poured a glass of wine. Hunger + alcohol equals reach for crap or order takeaway sadly.

It’s fine. I’ve burnt a fair bit today and at worst calories in should equal calories out.

RaraRachael · 04/06/2020 17:52

Today I have done my flat belly exercises, but no walk - due to having to go in to work in the morning, and raining in the afternoon.

Food for today -
B - Rice Krispies
L - Tuna sandwich and yoghurt
D - Shepherd's pie
S - Coffee and a party ring (they have shrunk since the last time I bought them, so may have 2)

The weekend is my worst time because we are having a takeaway every Friday atm, just as a little treat and then Saturday is my booze and crisps night whilst doing a family quiz.
I feel as if I've lost a bit of weight, but Sunday morning is my weigh-in so the scales will be the proof Hmm

Hangoverstruggles · 04/06/2020 19:18

Evening everyone.

Don't worry about the takeaway honey, life has to continue! Sounds like you've had some good successes this week.

@RaraRachael I was weighing myself on a Tuesday but thinking of moving it to a Friday so I can enjoy the weekend a bit more 😁

Today

B 40g oats with milk & berries, coffee 250
L 2 boiled eggs, one slice of toast, banana 380
D chicken, steamed potatoes, broccoli, corn cob and gravy 230
S tea with milk, 12 almonds, indeterminate amount of delicious brownie made by DH (the bastard) had a small piece but kept taking off extra slithers until I'd had a big piece! 400 approx

Total 1260ish

I did a 5k run and walked to school and back twice (approx 3 miles of walking)

EndlessUserName · 04/06/2020 21:15

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket chicken goujons sounds nice, is there a recipe please?

@RaraRachael we have takeaway every Friday too. If I work it out right I can save calories / syns to still lose weight. I find weekends very hard too though so sometimes I just maintain overall. It's hard!

@honey new day tomorrow. I'm the same with food - it's definitely a comfort for me. I'm getting better at finding other ways to cope. I had a very very stressful meeting yesterday but managed to avoid eating to ease the stress and instead did some knitting that night instead

EndlessUserName · 04/06/2020 21:16

Ps I meant to tell you all that I have started eating almonds too! I love them!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 04/06/2020 21:35

Can't give up take aways, don't feel bad HoneyBadger.

B: Yoghurt
L: Spanish chicken stew
D: Burritos
S: French fancies, mini Reese's, strawberries and raspberries

OP posts:
Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 04/06/2020 21:42

Hey @stopfundinghate the chicken goujons are readymade from m&s! A lazy meal for me usually and goes down well with the kids.
I ended up having one G&dietT and a nakd bar, so no room for halo top.
Just over 1500 cals in all and 10,000 steps. Very tempted to keep eating but I'm going to drink tea instead
