So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

Did my 30 Day Shred yesterday and walked the dog but succumbed to a home-made naan bread! Still just within my calorie allowance but am probably eating too many carbs. I am veggie but eat mostly vegan so not reasonable to low carb but I really didn't need to eat so much naan. Better day today.

RedScarf · 13/05/2020 08:49

30 day shred is evil!

Hi everyone.
Yesterday was an awful day food wise, I ate loads of crisps, ice cream and general crap. But I was still under my calorie goal i don't know if that counts as a win so I think that needs adjusting. I might change it to 1800 kcals instead of 2140 or whatever ridiculous number it is.

Today me and dd went for a very slow walk, we walked to the lake to feed the ducks- dd is 10 and hates ducks so it was quite funny. We ending up walking 4.6km and where out for just over an hour. I burnt 650kcal.

Hope everyone has a good day 😁

mn needs an edit button *were not where

RedScarf · 13/05/2020 15:59

That's a great calorie burn!

I've not left the sofa again my head feels like cotton wool and I'm v tired and emotional, it's lady time and I'm sleep deprived so think I might allow myself a biscuit tonight. I've only had a sandwich so far so it will be fine.

My ds is 10 and hates everything atm, should have called him Kevin...

Day 9 of 30 Day Shred today and I caved and measured my waist a day early (plan to measure every 10 days). I've lost nearly 2 inches in 10 days! Makes me feel much better about the fact that scales aren't moving that much. That said. I googled what 1lb of human fat looks like and it is quite a sizeable blob so feel better about losing slowly.

Did a Zumba work out too and am going to walk the dog. One good thing about lockdown for me is that I've finally learned to enjoy working out at home. I have unopened home workout dvds going back years but finally got into it.

Hope you all had a good day.

Lalotai47 · 13/05/2020 17:46

Redscarf I remember finding it horrendous years ago and gave up on day 3 but I think Joe Wicks has got me a bit fitter so Level 1 at least doesn't feel too bad!

RedScarf · 13/05/2020 19:08

My MIL called me to ask if I would walk to her driveway so she can show me how low she can squat now she's doing joe wicks everyday! Grin ( I politely declined!)

I might attempt it in a week or so when hopefully I'll be a bit less bloated!

Justabadwife · 13/05/2020 20:04

@redScarf how far away does your MIL live. Im picturing a massive walk to watch a lady do one squat 🤣

Well I pushed myself tonight and went for a 3km walk- I was out 37mins and burnt off another 310kcal.
That means I end the day with a 500kcal deficite 😀😀

Dontrainonmyparade · 13/05/2020 20:24

May I join please? I have about 3.5stone to lose and started on Monday. I’m doing calorie counting using mfp and intermittent fasting - I’m eating between 12-9pm only.

I run 5km a couple of times a week, I’m trying to be strict with myself about going every other day this week, and am trying to encourage the kids to come and walk with me every day too. I can do my 5k at around 38 mins at the mo, but my best time was 33 mins when I was about 2 stone lighter a couple of years ago.

Alcohol and chocolate are my vices.

newbienewbie20 · 13/05/2020 20:29

Can I please join in!? Have roughly 3.5st to lose.... started today being careful what I ate and did a 20 min spin class. Managed to finish off a bar of Lindt dark salt chocolate but I told myself I was clearing out the cupboard so no temptation from tomorrow!!

RedScarf · 13/05/2020 20:36

@Justabadwife only about 10 mins away, she's 75 and bonkers!

Justabadwife · 13/05/2020 20:49

@RedScarf ahh thats not too bad. Can you hire her out? I can't do squats to save my life.

lifesbetteraftertea · 13/05/2020 21:14

@RedScarf your mil sounds hilarious. Well done everyone on a successful day. I've kept within my cals and managed another good walk this evening. Noticed how many times I mindlessly reach for food throughout the day, having to catch myself on so many times.

Dk20 · 13/05/2020 21:27

Hi all,
I have 3 and a half stone to lose aswell. There are so many of us looking to lose the same amount.
I started on Friday, have been eating well and getting out for a long hill-y walk every day.
Didn't manage the walk today, have had a migraine and it was awful today but have eaten well today. I try to find the sw plan for eating as I find it easiest.

Lalotai47 · 13/05/2020 22:29

Hope the migraine goes. Dreadful things they are.

RedScarf · 14/05/2020 09:51

Morning! I've woken up today actually hungry! I know that sounds stupid but I don't remember my tummy rumbling for possibly years and It actually feels quite nice!

OP posts:
Moonlite · 14/05/2020 10:02

Hey can I join? I'm trying to lose 2 stone, I'm currently the heaviest I've ever been. I managed 13,000steps yesterday and have been doing 30 minutes on my exercise bike on the days I dont get out for walks.

I'm not calorie counting because I have quite an obsessive personality and worry I'll get too obsessed with numbers but I'm cutting out snacks that have empty calories and only allowing myself to eat something if it has some nutritional value so instead of a bag of crisps I'll boil an egg and put some pepper on it as a snack. No sugar in my tea etc. My biggest downfall is wine/beer but I'm working on it!

Currently drinking a black coffee and considering a morning hike over local mountain Hmm

RedScarf · 14/05/2020 10:04

How is everyone doing? Welcome to everyone new that's posted, it's good to have so many in a similar boat

Justabadwife · 14/05/2020 10:17

Morning everyone.
@RedScarf I quite like walking up actually hungry, instead of getting up and then having breakfast for the sake of eating.

Me and dd have been out again this morning- we went to the quiet park and had a quick game of tennis. We saw 2 dog walkers. We were out for an hour and i burned 600kcal.

I've entered all of the food I am going to eat + snacks into my Samsung health app, so if its not on there its not being eaten.

@Moonlite I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but here its lovely, if I had some more enthusiasm I would go for hike. Im debating going early tomorrow morning before it gets busy.

Hope everyone has a good day. 😀

PulyaSochsup · 14/05/2020 10:39

Hi everyone! I would love to be on board with this, I have 3 stones to lose and I need crowd motivation! Well done for starting this Redscarf, I am fed up with procrastinating about it!

LaLaLanded · 14/05/2020 11:47

@Justabadwife I feel like a bit of a dick mentioning this but I don’t want it to potentially derail you - are you using your Samsung app to track how many calories you burn? They are notorious for over-estimating calorie burn, as are the gym equipment tallies.

An hour’s walk typically burns 200-350 calories (ish, depending on speed, your weight, the terrain etc).

This article might help, it looks fairly accurate to me: www.goodhousekeeping.com/health/fitness/a47008/calories-burned-from-walking/

Justabadwife · 14/05/2020 13:39

@LaLaLanded I have a Samsung galaxy watch, but the calorie burn was pretty much the same when I had a fitbit. I think the burn is quite high because I'm fat, and surrounded by hills, so its never a nice flat walk. 😁

astridforty · 14/05/2020 13:49

Exactly the same here, started a month or so ago with 4 stone to lose. I’m 11lb down now after joining Trinity Transformation - which is an indicator of just how desperate I’d got really. I actually responded to weight loss marketing on Facebook. That said, it’s working for me and I’m determined to stick to it. I just need that continual motivation of seeing the scales move and that seems to keep me on track.

I need to stop working out how long it will take me to lose it all, it’s so depressing that it’ll probably be next spring before I’m where I want to be.

Peasypasta67 · 14/05/2020 13:57

I really can't recommend slimming world enough. I've tried diets before but never succeeded because if I banned certain foods I wanted them. On slimming world you can eat whatever you want really. As long as you stay within your daily syns. Also going to group and being weighed really motivates me. They're still doing virtual groups online now.

I started in january and got my 2 stone award the last session before lockdown. I've only lost 3lb since lockdown but I know that without slimming world I would have gained massively during this time.
