RedScarf · 11/05/2020 08:42

So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

@BluePajamas my DP thinks his current contract will finish in a couple of weeks and he might have a bit of time at home before the company find him another one...aaarrggghhhh. He faffs around, gets under my feet, has to be reminded constantly about what time to collect the DC etc and then (having watched me do housework, cooking, job hunting and so on for hours) says "I don't know what you do all day!" Angry

Hope lady time isn't too bad! I keep thinking about going to the GP again about mine but firstly losing weight would definitely do some good... I'm just failing to drag up any motivation. I'm utterly shattered all the time but no doubt losing weight would help with that too!

Toomanycats99 · 18/11/2020 17:07

@BluePajamas

Like the sound of your home gym - I just don't have any room. I have a mini trampoline that spends much of its time propped up against a cupboard spoiling the look of my room!

I weighed myself once last week and I had put on one pound but as I hadn't been to classes since September and haven't stuck to diet that's more too bad. I seem to back on track this week. Last week I just wasn't really in mood and so like you said just went with it. I ate breakfast and that seemed to make me wants more carbs all day.

That said what I class as a 'bad' day now would probably just have been a usual day 6 months ago. So I am going to take it easy to Xmas low carving where I can but not stressing out if I need to succumb to some Xmas food some days.

I mean right out and walk in the evenings and I don't mind the cold but the rain puts me off so haven't made it much. Did walk with a friend in rain Saturday though as we had booked it in and stuck to it.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 19/11/2020 12:36

No room here either @Toomanycats99 (do you really have too many cats by the way?! We have one, but I would love more!) - I do do plenty of walking (16K yesterday) but clearly not enough to work off everything I eat Blush

How are you feeling @BluePajamas?

In (slightly) exciting news, I have a job interview tomorrow!! My first interview for many, many years as I was in my previous job for 10 years before leaving to have the DC. Of course I have no smart clothes which fit and hence have had to source more via supermarkets and M&S - ruddy lockdown!! Where's Primark when I need them?! - and I've only had a couple of days' notice to prepare. Not sure if that's better though as it gives me less time to flap and panic Hmm

The job would be 90% home based which would work well for me, I could drop off the DC, log on and work for 4/5 hours. Also means that during AF I would hopefully be at home still, as there's usually a day each month when I literally can't leave the house Sad It does sound like a good fit for me, and is in a field I've worked in before, but it'll be useful to talk everything through at the interview.

And once I have a work routine sorted, either with this job or another, I'll have no excuse for not getting into a good exercise and eating routine...!

Toomanycats99 · 19/11/2020 13:18

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

At the time we had three. Two that I had had for some time a then a third one that adopted us. Basically anytime her owners let her out she just came and slept on our sofa so in the end she moved in! 3 felt a bit overwhelming hence the user name!

Good luck in the interview.

OptimisticAnnie · 19/11/2020 13:19

Well done on making a start.

BluePajamas · 19/11/2020 17:14

We have one cat here and in the last 2 weeks he has got covered in paint, lost a claw, got stuck up a tree and followed us to nursery meaning he got lost and I had to go back home then the whole route to nursery shaking his treats and making kissy noises (good for steps though!) Definitely 1 cat too many!

Toomanycats99 · 19/11/2020 17:52

@BluePajamas

That is stressful. Mine are fairly laid back. One doesn't do much other than sleep. The other is a bit more risky. He got shut in a derelict house a couple of years ago I say house but it was more like a car larder. Birds and mice on tap plus we also had a dead bat once. He went missing again a couple of months ago and when he got back he spent all his time sitting high up in a corner watching the room so I suspect he got locked in again somewhere.

BluePajamas · 19/11/2020 22:30

Aw poor thing, I dread mine going missing, ds would be inconsolable

Right, back to it fresh as a daisy tomorrow I plan to post here saying what an angel ive been!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 20/11/2020 16:18

@BluePajamas hope your angelic day is going well Halo

@Toomanycats99 our cat is definitely not a wanderer, we've had her since she was 2 and she's never far from home, especially not at dinnertime!! She has (very) occasionally brought in a mouse but it must have been a particularly elderly, arthritic mouse for her to manage it Grin

Well, the interview went ok - it was more of a chat covering my CV and the company's requirements than a formal interview, which was fine by me, even if I don't get the job it's built up my confidence a bit. They're hoping to make a decision early next week; I thought I stood a reasonable chance but obviously you never know if someone else will be a better fit for the job/ company environment. Of course I thought of some more great points that I should have said when I was on my way home, but by that point there wasn't much I could do about it...

I was feeling quite good about today and then a friend took it upon herself to say that she thought my DC were being rude and cheeky Sad for the record I don't think they actually were (on this occasion!) - school had changed the one way system at pick up/ drop off time and they couldn't get their heads round the fact that we were going the other way, so kept telling me I was doing it wrong. Even worse the friend said this twice and then expected me to do her a favour which I usually do, but I was a bit Shock that she still expected it! I will be going a bit more low contact after this; even if she'd thought that it would have been better to keep it to herself, I never feel the need to comment on her DC...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 20/11/2020 16:19

Oh yes, my point about the 'friend'(!) was that I went straight home and ate a chocolate brownie. Didn't even stop to consider if I genuinely wanted/ needed it. I'm clearly more of an emotional eater than I realised...

PuuurrSaidTheCat · 28/11/2020 17:57

Evening, I've NC but I wear Pajamas and they are blue!

How is everyone doing? It's been very quiet on here, I've been ticking over quietly too, haven't lost but also haven't gained so could be worse!

Hope everyone is ok..

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 30/11/2020 11:50

Hi @PuuurrSaidTheCat, I'm about the same! Just life getting in the way really; I'm still job hunting, sorting out Christmas presents for friends and family, and doing enormous amounts of food prep/ storage for when I'm finally employed again and have less time to be at home...

After my 'emotional eating' revelation above (which wasn't really that much of a revelation when I considered it - should have twigged long before!) I have tried to think a lot more about what/ when I'm eating - also have a couple of 'mindful eating' books lined up at the library, when we're finally allowed back Confused

How are you @Toomanycats99?

Toomanycats99 · 30/11/2020 17:30

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

I'm ok thanks. Still (hopefully!) maintaining. Feeling a bit conflicted though. I have spent way too much lately including my food budget which I seem to be overspending by so much!

I'm torn between being back in some more carb based meals as it will cut the food cost down and trying to continue as is.

I think I will see how next month goes - I did bulk buy some cat food and also a major stock up so that may be why but then there is Xmas coming and the extra food I will end up buying for that......

PurrSaidTheCat · 01/12/2020 20:15

Yeah worrying about money this time of year sucks. I left my shit but steady job to become self employed during first lock down and realising how stupid it was not to have had a buffer saved up first! Also feel like I can't moan about it as it's my own doing. (Though absolutely love not working at the shit job now!)

Anyone struggling to feel Christmassy too? I can't be arsedGrin

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 05/12/2020 23:23

@Toomanycats99 all the food on offer at the supermarkets seems to be carb-based and I seem to have bought a lot of it, certainly makes it tricky when you're trying to lose weight! I'm glad of my fruit and veg box every week, will definitely make it easier if we have to isolate.

How is your new job going @PurrSaidTheCat? I've thought about setting up my own business, would be interesting to hear how other people find it! I just think that unless I was 100% dedicated and committed I would find it too easy to become distracted at home and spend my time doing chores instead of actually working...

I'm making an effort to be Christmassy for the DC - they are only little so madly excited. However MIL is refusing to change her plans of having around 15 people (5 households!) over for Christmas Day, if not I will probably spend it home alone Sad after months and months of being careful around other people, I wouldn't be comfortable being in an enclosed space with lots of other people for hours on end. Or maybe I'm overreacting? I don't know, at least if we have to isolate then I wouldn't have to make the decision...

(DP has moaned about this already by the way. And moaned about him putting on weight, and it must be my fault. Last Saturday night he drank two bottles of wine and snacked on a large bag of Kettle Chips, two packs of salami, some mini sausage rolls and some of the DC's biscuits. He turns into the Very Hungry Caterpillar and eats/ drinks more than a day's worth of calories in one go... but obviously it's all my fault Hmm)

Toomanycats99 · 08/12/2020 19:10

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl

I seem to keep buying carbs too - me and my daughter have somehow managed to polish off awhile sourdough loaf today. And I cracked open the Xmas Pringles!

It's only going to get worse eating wise I think! I have a relative with severe MH issues and I am only family local. So I am trying to deal with that - I started having panic attacks myself last year. They are at the point where the local MH services will discharge them as not engaging and frankly I want to tell them to stop expecting me / everyone to run around after them.

Hope everyone else is having better luck with the weight losing.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 08/12/2020 22:14

LOL @Toomanycats99, I keep (deliberately) turning a blind eye to the Pringles in the supermarket, otherwise I know I'll get peckish at some point and shovel down a tube Grin they have such cute Christmas wrappers at the moment though - aarrrrgghhhh!

Sorry to hear about your relative, it must be very frustrating when they would rather kick up a fuss and try to get your help rather than communicate with the professionals. Can you take a step back citing your own issues/ busy with family/ work pressures? Or are they not the sort to take a hint?

Hope you are well @PuuurrSaidTheCat

Audreyseyebrows · 08/12/2020 22:17

Can I join?

Toomanycats99 · 09/12/2020 05:42

@Audreyseyebrows course you can! - welcome.

Hopefully you are able to resist the Xmas pringles!

Audreyseyebrows · 09/12/2020 08:43

Thank you! I don’t know if I can resist but I’ll try! I need to lose about a stone and a half.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 11/12/2020 11:21

DS1 is down with chicken pox. I foresee many days stuck at home with a grumpy, spotty child. Hope you are having a better lead up to Christmas than me @Toomanycats99 and welcome @Audreyseyebrows!

regretting not stocking up on Pringles now

Biancadelrioisback · 11/12/2020 11:32

Oh can I join?
In the past three weeks I've completely changed my diet and lifestyle, monitoring everything on My fitness Pal and I've lost 10lbs!
I'm so happy but I need to lose 4 stone in total. Nealy a quarter of the way there.

My DM has been going on about my weight for about 4 years and keeps asking when I'm going to do something about it. I'm a bit gutted she hasn't noticed my 10lbs! TBf, I haven't told anyone I'm trying to lose weight so will probably continue to wear baggy clothes until I'm ready to 'reveal' myself

Toomanycats99 · 11/12/2020 12:43

Welcome @Biancadelrioisback

I am also aiming for 4 stone - I am about 2.5 in. Know how you feel - I went o work for first time in 6 months after losing over a stone and no one commented!

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl you may be lucky - my hypochondriac 9yo had it a year or so ago and I was dreading it. She didn't have too many spots and only a small amount of itching on day 1. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm gutted - I have hotel and theatre rickets booked for week before Xmas and now looks like we will be in tier 3 by then. No chance to go before because of work.

I am pondering booking a taxi lights tour if that happens but really I should probably save the money.........

PurrSaidThecat · 11/12/2020 20:22

T

PurrSaidTheCat · 11/12/2020 20:42

..not sure what happened there!

I've also got 4 stone to lose now as The scales are going the wrong way.

A stone loss is great @Toomanycats99 don't be disheartened, I think people don't mean to be but are very self involved (not sure that's the right word) at the moment, do you feel a difference in your clothes?
