Blurghhhhhhh 3.5ish stone to lose.

RedScarf · 11/05/2020 08:42

So today is day 1, I've just taken my before pictures had a little cry and weighed myself.

I've got 3.5 stone to lose and then some more that I'll assess when I get there.
Because I WILL get there!

Starting off with calorie counting, no choc/crisps and either a bike ride or c25k every evening after dc2 goes to sleep. And will tweak as necessary as I go.

I'm planning on posting here A LOT as dh is less than helpful and tbh is he's annoying me during lock down so I'll probably moan about him here too!

Feel free to join in, share tips, try stay sane and on track. Halo

I did about 1600 calories yesterday instead of 1200 as we had French bread, cheese and sausage rolls in with loads of salad which took me over and 2 packets of crisps but it's still a lot less than if was eating before I started MFP. Just need the kids to finish the sausage rolls so I'm not tempted.

I ordered some smart scales last week which should be arriving today, so I'm looking forward to weighing myself and hopefully they'll be worth the extra money I impulsively paid for a "smart" set as I'm thinking I should have just got a cheap set from home bargains Hmm

lifesbetteraftertea · 22/05/2020 07:40

@dk20 I have a Fitbit Alta and it definitely counts my steps when I'm pushing the pram / holding the dogs lead / talking on the phone whilst walking. @RedScarf so long as you get back on track that's the main thing, that's where I always go wrong, one blip and then I give it a few months to start again.

The weekend has arrived.... hardest part of the week diet wise. Last weekend I counted in a few glasses of wine on Saturday night but I think I'll just not bother this week, it only makes me want to nibble and drink more and more. I can manage just a small bit of chocolate or crisps but don't have the same control with alcohol.

Have a good day everyone !

gggrrrargh · 22/05/2020 07:51

Morning all!

I’ve hit my first mini goal which was to get under the closest stone, which was the weight I was in January. The next goal is 5 more pounds which will give me the weight i was in May 2019.

So far so good using MyFitnessPal mainly, gone for 1340 calories a day (why that number I don’t know!). I’ve made sure I’ve gone for a walk and taken a vitamin every day too since starting which I think has made me feel more able to keep going. My meals are utterly boring and samey but I can deal with that Smile

Givemestrengthorgin · 22/05/2020 09:06

Well done @gggrrrargh! I'm sitting bang on 14 stone at the minute so I need to keep plugging away to get into the next stone bracket this week. Then my next goal is also another 5 pounds. I've been doing lots of running and Les Mills workouts so I'm hoping I am toning up as well as slimming down.
I agree that MFP is great. I find it so helpful!

What kind of food is everyone eating? Any good meals or recipes to share? I eat a lot of grilled chicken with piri piri seasoning, grilled veggies and Tzatziki. It's tasty, low carb and low calorie.

gggrrrargh · 22/05/2020 09:48

Thank you Smile sounding in a positive mood @givemestrengthorgin which is a big part of the battle, so I’ll reckon you’ll be on the next stone soon Smile I’ve been assigned to extra work due to current work situation and it’s a bit miserable - the first time it went badly I ate a whole pack of chocolate bars, recently when it went badly again I chose a walk until I calmed down instead so I’m feeling happy I’m not likely to go off target way I’m feeling at mo.

Diet - I wish mine was better. I base my whole day on how many low calorie snacks I can eat and then the healthy bits are more of the afterthought. Right now 71 calorie Skips are my go to but try and have fruit or cherry tomatoes as a snack in the day too. For actual meals it’s a lot of soup, tinned spaghetti type things, cereal, freezer veg with potato waffles, that type of thing.

lifesbetteraftertea · 24/05/2020 13:45

How's it going everyone?

Dk20 · 24/05/2020 14:00

Today's going good for me today, had a healthy breakfast then a SW meaty pasta recipe for lunch which is by far the best SW pasta I have tasted.
The only problem I have it the weather, it's so hot that i dont know if I'll be able to get out for a walk this afternoon, might go in the evening if its cooler.
Its weigh in day for me tomorrow so am going to try and stay good today.

lifesbetteraftertea · 24/05/2020 16:20

@Dk20 some of the Sw recipes are gorgeous. I had bacon and eggs this morning and just had big roast dinner. Had a slice of toast earlier so I've got a long day ahead to last with 200 cals. Will try to get out for a walk at some stage too. Heading out to get the kids ice cream now but I've got a can of Diet Coke, lucky me!

Givemestrengthorgin · 24/05/2020 16:34

I'm having a good day today - making up for a terrible day yesterday. That's two weeks in a row where I've gone off the rails at the weekend. Going to be really strict with myself this week and make sure I keep the exercise up and stay within my calorie limit at least 6 days out of 7. Today I've done a 7K run and a dog walk. And I've only eaten a banana and scrambled egg on toast leaving me 900 calories for the day. Grilled prawns and veggies for dinner.

Dk20 · 24/05/2020 20:49

@lifesbetteraftertea I love the recipes, had a chicken saag for dinner. Weve tried many of the currys over the years but this is the first one weve made thsts been edible Blush even the kids finished their plates.
@Givemestrengthorgin the weekends seem to be the hardest. I fell of the wagon really badly last weekend but have managed to keep being good this weekend - mostly because I have to weigh in first thing Monday morning.
Dp and ds make homemade pizzas every Sunday. They are really delicious and so hard to resist but today I didn't eat any, I just kept well away (sulking)when they were eating them.

InTheNorth123 · 24/05/2020 20:56

I've had a small chocolate bar and a cupcake today, but I'd planned for a treat day so only had brunch and dinner. I'm sticking to 1200 calories a day so 8400 a week. According to MFP (which should be accurate as I've tracked everything) I'm only 64 calories over for the whole week.

I've lost 2lbs so far and I'll next weigh in on Sunday next week.

lifesbetteraftertea · 24/05/2020 21:51

Weekends are my downfall as well. It's so easy to very quickly undo all the hard work of the rest of the week. I'm also so impatient, and weighing myself much too often. My official weigh day is meant to be Monday. I think this week I'm going to scrap weighing in every morning and just keep at it

Dk20 · 25/05/2020 10:12

Did my weigh in this morning and lost 3 and a half pounds last week! I really needed that after a very slow start the few weeks before that.

Givemestrengthorgin · 25/05/2020 10:51

@Dk20 amazing, well done! Have some cake to celebrate...joking Grin!

I'm going out tonight for a run and aiming for 5k in under half an hour...wish me luck 🏃🏃🏃

Dk20 · 28/05/2020 19:31

How is everyone doing this week?

lifesbetteraftertea · 28/05/2020 20:14

@Dk20 amazing weight loss for you well done! Am doing well here, slightly over calories today but going to head out for a walk now and put it right. Am feeling chuffed to be in week three, rather than giving up after a week! Think I've about 6 pounds off so far.

RedScarf · 28/05/2020 20:46

Hi everyone, I've been so busy this last week I've missed dinner most days, the domino effect from it is not good as I'm starving and then over eat. I connected my google home dot thing whatever it's called and have set daily alarms for lunch, dinner and a set get out of the house and exercise time so maybe I'll be more on top of things...

Well done everyone who's stayed on track, and if you are lurking and struggling then post so we can help you!

I've had two bad days, one involving a Chinese take away 😬 I'm ready to get back into it tomorrow. I'm not going to weigh until Thursday next week, or I'll be demotivated by the damage I've probably done!

I did my second couch to 5k run tonight and I'll start HIIT tomorrow now I've fixed YouTube on the smart tv. Does anyone have any recommendations for free beginners HIIT videos on YouTube?

Dk20 · 29/05/2020 07:14

@lifesbetteraftertea 6 pounds in 3 weeks! Well done you.

@InTheNorth123 I actually had Chinese on Monday evening, after weighing on Monday morning. I weighed again this morning and am down a pound since Monday mornings weight, so dont be too hard on yourself.
How are you finding the couch to 5ks? It's something I'd love to do but just seems so daunting to start.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 29/05/2020 08:16

@InTheNorth123 if you search for fitness blender on YouTube you will find hundreds of free workouts starting from beginner/10 mins.

InTheNorth123 · 29/05/2020 09:38

@Dk20 thanks, I just hope I haven't gained back my loss.
I'm finding it ok so far. I have done it before many times but I think week 5 is the furthest I've ever got 😳 I have been able to tell in the past that it definitely does work to increase fitness each week.

InTheNorth123 · 29/05/2020 09:40

Thanks WeKnow I'll have a look this afternoon.

RubySlippers77 · 30/05/2020 23:40

@InTheNorth123 I've just completed week 1 of C25K! The first run was ok, the second was ok even though I had to take DS1, and the third was hideous as I had to take both DC. DS2 moaned the entire way! If you wanted to spend a little bit of money then Davina OYG is £10 a month and has loads of videos or Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD is still a bargain £5 Smile

@RedScarf I know what you mean about the domino effect, if I wake up starving and grumpy then I end up eating breakfast plus many snacks!!

Dk20 · 31/05/2020 07:56

@rubyslippers77
Well done on the C25K. Its something I would love to do but dont know where to start. I know this may sound silly but is there an app/something that will help me time the walk/run parts easily if I started?

Dk20 · 31/05/2020 08:00

Yesterday I discovered a SW recipe for egg muffins. They are 'free' on SW so you can eat as many as you want. They were so delicious I've eaten 12 in less than 24 hours Blush I hope this doesnt come back to bite me in the ass.
I was good for the rest of yesterday, had lean bacon with egg for breakfast, and homemade burgers with homemade wedges for dinner, all free meals so hope I will see a loss when I weigh tomorrow morning.
