@Eesha I'm following the keto way of eating too. I would really recommend it. I've been doing it for 3 months and lost 38lbs with only the occasional craving. So far I have had enough will power to stick to it.

When I reach a 3 stone loss, I'm treating myself to my Easter egg. No other diet I have done has given me enough strength to leave chocolate sat in the cupboard for that long Grin Good luck, with however you decide to lose weight.

I'm in!
Start weight- (16/02/20) 13st 5lb
Current weight- 11st 10lb
Goal weight-not an actual weight, just until I'm happySmile

Regular day-
B-protein shake
L-100g chicken breast 100g veg 50g brown rice & protein shake
D-any meal using 100g lean meat, 100g veg. I.e. chilli, spag Bol(no spaghetti) etc
I also have a few snacks in the evening such as, chocolate, Greek yoghurt, nuts...
I also do at least 30 minutes of HIIT everyday. I use a YouTube channel-her name is Sydney Cummings and she's amazing! Gives lots of options for each exercise, high and low impact etc.
I'm currently eating between 1200 and 1300 calories a day until I've lost the bulk of my weight, I'm then going to increase caloric intake and begin proper weight trainingGrin

@Eesha I started Keto in desperation as no other diet has worked for me with the underactive thyroid. I am very inactive too which doesn't help. The theory behind Keto in very simple terms is that by withdrawing carbs you turn your body into a fat burning machine rather than a sugar burning machine. [All carbs turn into sugars once broken down by your body]. You need to eat a very high fat diet rich in protein and lots of non carby vegetables. I personally only eat 2 meals a day normally and if my weight isn't going down quickly enough for my liking then I go down to one meal a day for a few days. [Known here as OMAD]. I've put a couple of days menus below to give you some idea;
Lunch - 2 rashers of bacon with 2 eggs fried in butter or olive oil
Dinner - sirloin steak, stir fry and pepper sauce
Lunch - tin of tuna in oil mixed with a litttle mayo with salad
Dinner 2 thick good quality sausages with vegetables roasted in olive oil - [peppers, mushrooms, red onion]
I don't track or calorie count anything at all. That's because I want to adopt this as a way of life in the long term so I don't want to think of it as a diet. The caveat to that is that DD4 [junior doc] thinks that I ought to get my cholesterol checked once I've reached my goal as she's worried about my heart health in the long term with all the butter I'm eating. She thinks it's fine until I get to my goal weight though so I'm carrying on for now.
In addition you also need to drink at least 2 litres of water a day as that seems to help with weight loss generally but particularly on Keto.
If I need a snack I allow myself 6 pecan or walnuts and for a sweet treat a pot of sugar free jelly or 2 squares of Lindt over 85% chocolate. I must add that I am definitely not an expert but doing the above has worked well for me. There are others on here on Keto who I'm sure will be along to help you too.
Looking at you @GetTheStartyParted!

@recklessgran that's really helpful thank you. I'm going to give it a go. Just need my kids to eat all the cereal now otherwise I'm tempted. I think I'll struggle without rice with my curries. But your results speak for themselves!!

@Eesha I find that so long as I eat enough protein and fat then my appetite is very reduced so hopefully you will be able to resist! I was a chocoholic and also ate crisps every day. My children have both in the house and I haven't had one.

With curries, I have either half a bag of cauliflower rice or make a keto naan bread.

I track using an app, mainly so I know I'm on the right course. I don't worry too much though, I let my appetite dictate how many meals I have and I rarely snack.

Good afternoon all!

I am also starting May at the same weight I started April, having lost and gained the same few pounds repeatedly.

I've come to the conclusion that despite my exercise (I cycled over 100 miles and walked over 50, plus fitness classes online) when I'm not doing that I'm doing basically nothing. So I'm never reaching a deficit. Plus on top of this I've been craving really crappy food. Pizza mostly but I've also had plenty of cakeaways too.

So my plan, for this month, is to simply try my best. To eat well, to exercise, and if I lose, great. As long as I'm not gaining excessively I will be happy.

Here's to a great month everyone. 😊

Oh and I'm still calorie counting:

Today:
B- Porridge 150kcals
L- Chicken and avocado salad wrap 371kcals
D- Sticky Italian Sausage Pasta and a homemade garlic flatbread 641kcals.

I also cycled 15km during a HIIT spin workout earning me 400kcals.

@MotherOfDragonite me neither WinkI thought I would snap back this time especially having not eaten anything treat like over Christmas. The gestational diabetes diet is low carb .. low GI. I couldn't eat chips or potatoes or crisps even as I was diet controlled ( taking my blood sugar readings.) You could eat some carbs such as fruit if combined with fat ( say full fat non sweetened yogurt) so maybe a bit like Keto ? @recklessgran . I only managed such a strict diet for the baby. My first DC was giant, so I was not going be pushing another whopper out. I don't feel as dedicated now.

I guess maybe all those Mars bars mid pregnancy (before I was diagnosed with the Gestational diabetes) might have contributed to the extra weight I was 10 stone before, having never got back to my pre 1st pregnancy fighting weight of 9 stone 10. .

After reading the thread most days, I thought I would join as you all sound so lovely and encouraging!

Current weight 16:13
Target for May 16:6
Total lost so far 70lbs (5 stone)

Low carb for me (under 100g a day & 1750 calories) as not quite brave enough for full Keto yet & 10,000 steps a day.

@GetTheStartyParted well I ordered some cauliflower rice for curries. Now just have to avoid cereal!!! How long before you saw any difference?

Hi @TheStirrer an amazing loss, it doesn't sound like you need to be keto, low carb is serving you well!

@Eesha I lost 10lbs in my first week, I have lost between 1lb and 4lbs each week in the following weeks, this is my 14th week. My main advice would be to read as much as you can about it so you feel confident in the choices and changes you make. I still read up on things, try new recipes and so on.

My dinner, where I wanted to use up mushrooms and cabbage, become tuna and mushroom keto pizza with homemade coleslaw.

Hello glad I found this thread, hoping it will help motivate me.

I want to lose weight after having my baby in January. I was 10 stone 10 last week, currently 10 stone 8 and would like to get to 10 stone 4 by the end of May. My plan is to get back to pre pregnancy weight of 9 stone 3 but want to do this in manageable chunks and not too quickly as I am breastfeeding. So around a pound per week seems attainable.

Hi Everyone,

Today was ok. I had two toasts (rye) for breakfast, larger lunch than usual (added rice to my egg, courgette and tomatoes), extra snacks of rye bread and handful of blueberries and dinner of lentil curry (no fat) with rice, cabbage and homemade bread. 2 squares of dark chocolate after and am currently having a glass of wine.

To balance it I managed 19,772 steps today!

I am trying to eat if I really am hungry and not deprive myself of something I really want as I am hoping that this will be a sustainable life style. Fingers crossed it works!!

@Eesha I lost 6lbs in the first week and had lost a stone after 4 weeks. It's much slower now but that's O.K. I know I can do this and the big losses in the early weeks of Keto really are very encouraging and really help you to stay focused and on track. Looking forward to seeing your progress which I'm sure will be great! Good luck.
Welcome@TheStirrer 5 STONE? Blimey that's hard core, good for you bliming well done!

Happy May to everyone!

@cricketmum84 - ouch on the shingles!

I weighed in this morning same as yesterday so two days running at the devilish weight of 66.6kg 😈. A loss of 2.3kg for April which I'm happy with considering I was already (just) in normal BMI. A big thing for me today was taking measurements - all smaller than a month ago but my waist is 5cm down taking me below the increased health risk number 😁

Fairly usual day today although I did double bread - standard lunch of houmous, salad and bread but with lentil burgers however my partner made soup for dinner and it was definitely bread and marg weather with said soup.

Oh, and it was wine tasting group night. We went with the Aligoté grape variety (with the wine bring from Burgundy) as it was one we didn't know very well. If you like the occasional easy, light and fresh glass of dry white for the warmer months I'd recommend it 😊. Not as dry as a Chardonnay but still not sweet at all.

Hi. Can I join in please? I started my much needed diet a week into lockdown and have lost about 7lb so far.
My current weight is 12st13.5lb - I’d like to get to 12st7 by the end of May.
I’m exercising everyday at home but I need to get my steps up again as I’ve not been out walking much.
Food wise I’m doing 5:2 and healthy eating. And cutting down the wine consumption!

Morning! I'm still weighing regularly so thought I'd lurk on the thread. I'm fluctuating between 70-72kg which I'm happy with, given the amount of baking I've been doing recently. Hope everyone is surviving lockdown.
Anyone heard from @vebreithen?

I need to lose 3kgs (6-7)lbs for a medical weigh in on 27 May 😬.
Start 83kg (13st)
Today I am 75.85kg (11st 13)
Target end of May 72.85kg (11st 6)
Ultimate goal 65kg...

I have been pretty consistent during lock down but efforts a bit frayed the last week. I normally have two meals a day but need to focus and avoid the chocolate biscuits!!

Happy Saturday everyone! And welcome to Day 2!!

My 2lbs that's been on and off all April is back off again this morning!! Saturday is my official weigh day so happy to report that's a loss of 2lbs to start the month. I so so want to see the 17s!!

Just cooked up a big batch of swede (keep getting them in my veg boxes and not using them). Going to give it a good mash and add lightly buttered leeks and spring greens and then freeze in one portion batches. I'm the only one who likes it :(

The shingles are still extremely painful but the horrible infected rash seems to be clearing a little so feeling less manky today.

Plan for today is:
L - bit late now bu might just have a little portion of the swede and greens once it's done
D - 2 LM sausages with more swede and greens and some mushrooms fried in fry light and garlic.

Sorry I've not had chance to tag all the new joiners but wishing you all a huge happy welcome, we are a nice bunch and the usuals and long timers really make this thread what it is!! Couldn't do it without any of you guys ❤️

Have a lovely Saturday and I'll catch up with the thread properly once I've bashed the swede up!
