Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hi there,

I think there is some very real wisdom in staying off the scales for a while. I definitely felt more fear weighing in today (what if.. and its a bit scary to me that the number has the potential to effect my mood). I think its better to stay away than be deactivated by a number.

Anyway I lost 3/4 of a pound this week - so that tips me to
8 stone 13 3/4!! Which is a total so far of 12lbs 3/4 in 5 weeks. (My scales measure in 1/4 pounds).

Its Day 36 and I commit to:
B: Greek yogurt, ricotta, nutmeg and stevia
L: Bacon Meddalions and scrambled eggs
D: Oatbran bagel and burger
S: Diet coke, SF jelly
I will drink two litres of water.

Movement: A socially distanced walk in the country with my friend.
Cardio - 50 minutes

Hi, is it too late to join?

Ohmy- you've done amazingly well!

I have lost 8lbs so far and have 1 stone left to go. Am exercising 3-4 times a week and eating 1300 calories a day but have plateaued over the last 2 weeks and been snacking here and there. Back on it now!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 23/05/2020 11:37

PudleyDudley - welcome and thank you!! You have done well as well - 8lbs makes such a difference.

OP posts:
Squashbanana125 · 23/05/2020 13:00

Shorty - well done you are doing so well. It makes such a difference when you feel in a good zone about yourself.

My- yay in to the 8’s!! Well done! Must be A good feeling.

Today I’ve not broken my fast yet but about to cook a healthy bacon, egg and tomatoes lunch and for dinner I think steak and salad

Last few days I have managed to stick to it but my heads been all over place. Was crying to music this morning and just feel so bored and crave normal life of doing things with the dc’s or going clothes shopping. It’s definitely better when the weather is better and no shock last 2 days been crap.

I’ll take the positive that it’s managed to stick to plan. And for that I’m feeling good.

Must admit I didn’t do a walk yesterday as didn’t leave the house. But we can’t be active all the time.

Have a good day everyone

beautyqueenfrompluto · 24/05/2020 22:02

Just checking in and saying hi. It's going to be another hot week so hopefully that means lots of yummy salads. I'm really enjoying exercising at the moment and really feel I'm getting stronger which is good. I hope you're all having a nice bank holiday weekend.

Squashbanana125 · 25/05/2020 14:44

Hope everyone is well. So quiet on here. Hopefully all enjoying the beautiful sunshine today.
I’ve been ok. Think I had a slight wobble on sat evening and snacked on some chocolate and sweets but I didn’t let it carry on till Sunday.

I’ve not eaten yet today as I’ve been busy and now just enjoying the sun so will prob try and do a fast today.

RedKite1 · 25/05/2020 15:01

Hi Squash, yes it is quiet isn’t it, I don’t think that’s a good sign Grin. I forgot to weigh this morning (week 1), don’t think I’ve had a great couple of days, as usual I am saint like until late evening and then eat a big bag of Doritos or popcorn with wine. However, no groceries for a few days, all junk eaten, it’s chicken and veg or chicken and salad for the next three days. Hope you are feeling happier today. I really should do a fast day, I always feel much better after one.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 25/05/2020 16:14

Hello everyone,

I will try and get back to my morning posting with lots of motivation!! I think I have mentioned that I do project work. So I don't do very much and then I do non-stop work and it sort of goes in that rhythm. I have just sent my project off to my management team and so it should go back to being a bit quiet and I can be more focused.

I haven't stopped, I have kept eating Dukan and exercising but I feel like its stopped working...I know I need to drink more water.

I shall go right now.
You are all doing so great. Lots of people say they want to start doing something like lose a stone but you guys have all been here with me since the start! Thats commitment!!

OP posts:
beautyqueenfrompluto · 25/05/2020 22:31

I'm here and doing ok. I have decided I need a bit of a kick start as I feel more like I'm maintaining than actually loosing. So from tomorrow I'm going v low carb. I will still have carbs at breakfast but none for lunch or dinner...and that includes no sneaky crisps!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 26/05/2020 09:04

Hi Beautyqueen - me too! I am going to do the same as you.

I am going to go v low carb until Saturday's weigh in and see if that makes the scales go down again.

Motivation: Try and link your healthy habits to something you really like eg when you prepare meals listen to an audio book.

Meals:
B: Fast
L: Roast beef (from Sunday) made into a soup
D: Omelette
S: Greek yogurt, oatbran

I will drink one litre of water by 12pm and 1 litre of water by 4pm

Movement: Walk, plus morning meltdown

Lockdown ends on the 15 June so we have got 19 days countdown to wow!

Squashbanana125 · 26/05/2020 17:44

Hi beauty & my - sounds like a good idea to get things hopefully moving in the right direction. And my great idea about the water I def need to up my water intake

I’ve been ok. I think a few bad habits creeping in with snacking- been having Alpen light bars as I remember back to my sw days these were allowed but I know in my head it’s not great to have these and should have fruit instead but so easy to grab with a cup of coffee.
Meals have been good. I have been fine. I am weighing on Thursday but I think I’ll be the same as it’s time of the month and that always seems to make me retain water. And messes with the scale

Tomorrow I hope to go for a nice long walk. And see if that helps at all with a loss.

OhCobblers · 26/05/2020 18:50

Just checking in with one more lb lost but still slow!!!
I think I've worked out though for me I need to log every single calorie, only eat protein with salad and/or veg, don't exercise calories and run ALOT!! Which I've been doing but I still don't drink enough water - I do try but it's hard!!

OhCobblers · 26/05/2020 18:53

Don't EAT exercise calories

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 27/05/2020 08:41

Oh Cobblers - a lb loss is always a win..you can't get to your goal without first losing that pound!

Squash - I too have found that I need to be so 'on it'.

Day 40 commitments

Motivation: Make time for the holy trinity of fat loss - meal planning, food shopping and preparation. Put this above everything else to keep on track.

Meals:
B: Oat bran porrdige with rictotta and coconut yogurt
L: Scrambled egg/egg white and bacon medallions
D: Chicken miso soup

Movement: Workout 40 - this is the end of phase two of the hundred workouts I have committed to.

I think its time for a NSV sharing... my NSV is that I fit in all my summer clothes that have been in the shed for two years because I couldn't fit in them. But I knew one day I would! And that is now!

What is your NSV?

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 27/05/2020 19:28

Just came back on to share with you my newest discovery!

Its a cold brew coffee made with almond milk from tesco. It has no sugar, hardly any carbs.

Today I put lots of ice in the blender, chocolate protein powder, cold brew coffee and some oatly - whizzed it up and it was amazing. Such a treat and really hit the chocolate spot!!

OP posts:
myohmywhatawonderfulday · 28/05/2020 08:18

Good morning!

Here are my Day 41 commitments.

Motivation: Slow breathing is linked to will power and self control. Practise right now. Next time you are faced with something that may know you off your goals - pause, breathe and then decide if its worth it.

Meals:
B Fast
L: Feta omlette
D: Nandos tofu in a miso soup
S: Oatbran and vanilla yogurt, protein shake

Movement: Workout 41 - cardio

Does anyone have any ideas what to do with the children?

I am getting really stuck!

OP posts:
Squashbanana125 · 28/05/2020 10:43

Just checking in

Cobblers- well done on the pound loss. It’s in the right direction hey

My- thanks for the tip on the coffee. I tried that Oatly the other week but it was the chocolate one. Amazing. Gonna have to tried your version of iced coffee.

Well today was weigh day and I lost 1/4 of a pound. I won’t say I’m not disappointed but I’ve seen it many times when it’s time of the month and people say they generally don’t lose. So I should be happy with my 1/4 loss and run.
And hope that next week is a better loss.

My - no idea what to do with the children. Sorry

beautyqueenfrompluto · 28/05/2020 15:30

Just checking in too. I need to drink more water too. I had a 3rd person comment on my weigh loss yesterday so I'm feeling good! I guess people noticing is a NSV! I also want to fit into my summer clothes which have been in the loft for two years.
As for what to do with the children-no
Idea! How old are yours?

RedKite1 · 28/05/2020 17:11

Hi everyone, I am useless in the heat but the evenings are lovely. Lunch was carby, I have no excuse, it’s just what we had. Dinner is roast cauliflower and courgettes (love this), family having last of the chicken and salad.

My kids are 13 and 16, I am very lucky as they amuse themselves generally, get on and we are v rural with lots of space. They play Clash of Clans (computer game thing) for an hour most days, Star Wars and Harry Potter lego, one reads (one never reads), bike rides, butterfly nets, listening to music, looking after dog, Merlin on Netflix is the latest thing and homework fills their time. Younger kids would be a whole other ball game. Don’t suppose that has been any help! When they were small a box of chalk for outside, a big cardboard box was always loved, a bit of garden or just a pot to make a mini garden for woodlouse or fairies. I think I got easy kids.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 28/05/2020 19:59

Hi everyone,

Lovely to hear your check-ins! I am really pleased people are noticing your weight loss Beauty - that is great. And Squash - its so normal around time of the month and its another 1/4 lb closer to where you want to go. I am so glad you liked oatly - I love it. It is my favourite 'milk' and the chocolate one is so nice.

My children are 9 and 6 (although they are close to their birthdays). They do similar things to your children even though they yours a bit older. I have actually coped quite well with lockdown but the past few days I have been getting bored with myself and my unoriginal ideas. Will have to check out Merlin on Netflix.

My Dh was actually a star and got the paddling pool from his mum and dad's so they went in that and had great fun - and it was something different to do.

xx

Good Morning everyone!!!

Motivation: Habits work on a loop - they are made up of a cue, routine, reward. The cue can be a time, location, situation, people etc.
Can you think about how to nudge any of your detrimental routines today? Eg grab a coffee on the way to work every day? - choose a lower calorie one instead?

Meals:
B: Coffee and chocolate protein shake smoothie bowl
L: Oatbran galette and jalapeno tuna
D: Feta omelet
S: SF jelly

Movement: Strength training, insanity max 30 cardio, really long walk

Go get that stone!!

Hello Everyone! I haven't been posting as have been outside enjoying the sunshine.

I've kept on track mainly, and was 10.5 1/2 this morning, which is my lowest weight for months. So pleased, even though it's been slow progress. I've been re-reading the 800 diet by Michael Mosley and for the last few days I've been trying to stick to 800 calories (still using Dukan), as I want to make fast progress now. I want to be well into the 9s by the start of July, when lockdown will probably be eased even more (and please God hairdressers open and I can get my roots done). I want to emerge like a butterfly from a chrysalis! 🦋🦋.

Have a great day Everyone!

TeaRose29 · 29/05/2020 10:12

Oh, I meant to say @myohmywhatawonderfulday, that coffee shake sounds amazing!
