Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Hello everyone,

Woo woo TeaRose! That is brilliant to be your lowest weight for ages!!

So everyone on weigh in day I have to report I went up 1/4 lb to 9 stone. (12 and 1/2 lbs lost so far).

So last week, I broke into the 8's by a smidge but this week it went back up.

Soooooo...my plan to eat mainly protein the last four didn't work.
I also did harder and longer workouts. The other thing I did was make it to drinking 2 litres of water a day every day.

I am going to go back to the alternating pure protein/protein veg days. I am going to keep the 2 litres of water a day.

I don't really know what to do about exercise - whether to try and do less intense/add in a morning early morning walk instead of the HIIT or to step it up more because maybe I am not in a calorie deficit anymore?

It was going to happen at some point. I just wish it had happened when I had made it to 8 stone 10!

10.4 3/4 this morning. Yay! This is the lightest I’ve been since last July! @myohmywhatawonderfulday, don’t worry about your tiny gain. I understand the importance of getting that new number! I read recently (in fact, I think it was on Marshall Brain’s Dukan diary - google it, well worth a read) that when we do a lot of exercise, our blood volume (ie the amount of blood in our bodies) goes up. Blood has a weight, so of course this can cause a temporary increase. He also talks about the “whoosh” effect, where your cells temporarily replace fat with water, so you can stay the same, frustratingly, for a while, and then you get a sudden drop of a few pounds. You sound tiny now (how tall are you?) but this has worked for you, so keep on keeping on!

Have a great day everyone! Enjoy the sunshine! Xx

RedKite1 · 30/05/2020 12:46

Well done TeaRose29!

Myohmy keep going you are v v close. Wish I weighed what you do but I haven’t been as disciplined to be fair.

OhCobblers · 30/05/2020 14:09

Good job TeaRose!

I ventured into "10stone something" territory this week! First time since last year but back up today to 11stone something.

However I'm sure that's down to last nights dinner and not enough water so keeping at it today!!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 30/05/2020 21:05

Hi everyone,

Thanks Tearose - that is really interesting about blood volume and fingers crossed for wooshes for us all! I am 5 foot and quite curvy. I do look nice right now - not overweight and not underweight.

We are all getting closer even if there are temporary blips on the way. Oh Cobblers it won't be long now before you are well in the 10 stone somethings. I am glad you are keeping it up today!!

RedKite1 - you are still here doing it - its not about how fast but not giving up that determines success with weight loss - I am sure of it!

See you all soon!

Hi everyone! Sorry for doing a disappearing act, we had 2 deaths in the family so it's been a bit weird, sad, and weird. They were both older (one 96) but it's sad we can't get together or go to the funerals (we live 250 miles away).

By the skin of my teeth I am clinging on to 10.8 1/2 and as dh is off work today and tomorrow we are ordering take away and going to enjoy some drinks in the garden. Then I'm back on it.

However - I did achieve my first non scale goal of running 5k by the end of may, did it on Thursday, with the bloody pram! In a fairly respectable 35 minutes. So I'm happy my fitness has improved and I'm going to invest in a proper running pram.

Been reading through the updates and it's lovely to be part of a group where we each have our challenges and wins along the way.

I'll keep logging in this week as it does help me a lot!

Happy Sunday everyone x

Squashbanana125 · 31/05/2020 15:44

Hello everyone

Well done on the losses! And glad to see lots coming back.

I’ve been quiet last few days. I had a few days off plan but not too bad. Hopefully I can reign it back it. Looking forward to cooking a nice big roast chicken today with lots of veg.

Have felt very lathargic last few days- thankfully dh has taken 12 year old dc out for a few hours and I just intend on sitting here and resting and cooking. I’m so bored of the pressure of “what we doing today mum”. I just want to do nothing lol

My exercise has been non existent but I will write a few goals down later.

I was 10’4 last thurs and would love to see 10’2 this week.

beautyqueenfrompluto · 01/06/2020 08:29

I'm back after a horrendous few days! I've had a lovely time but have eaten all around me. I'm back today and going all in. Ready for my morning workout now and back to work today too (although from home still).

RedKite1 · 01/06/2020 09:15

Hi everyone, I got on the scales and am up 1 lb.

Sorry for your loss Yukka.

1st of June, possibly going to Cornwall in 6 weeks (if allowed), so back on it. I simply haven’t been consistent, too many carby meals, last night I got out some poppy seed crackers and humous and watched a very long H Potter film with wine of course. I am going to weigh every morning as it doesn’t get me down, I need to stop letting things slide.

B Coffee
L Grilled fish
D Roast veg

Have a good day everyone, sorry I’ve been so crap!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 01/06/2020 10:27

Hello everyone so wonderful to have you all check in and update!
Its really brilliant to hear how you all are.

So lovely to see you Yukka - I wish there was that emoji where its hugging a heart like on facebook because I would put that here.
Congrats on achieving your NSV and running your 5K!

This weekend I did stick to everything but I did eat some cake, some wine, some crackers, some houmous, some crisps and I got a headache. So even though I have felt sooooo well avoiding these foods- the call of the carbs got me this weekend!!

But its Monday. What a beautiful day to get re-appointed and move on! I love all your plans and energy to do this today!

I have already done my workout (number 45/100) and I am going to eat: B Protein Shake
Lunch: Chicken Salad
Dinner: Salmon Fillet and green veg
Snacks: No snacks for me today just water, herbal tea and more water!

Have a lovely day everyone!!

I had wondered about adding some of the chocolate one to the galette for a chocolate treat might - try it this weekend.

Have a nice day!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 04/06/2020 21:41

Yukka, that sounds like it could be really nice x

beautyqueenfrompluto · 05/06/2020 06:48

Hi everyone. So I feel thinner....and I tried on the bag of clothes that were too small and most fit well now and everything zips up! Two dresses don't look right yet as too tight but two months ago they didn't even meet to zip up!

But....I've still not lost weight in 5 weeks!!! People are telling me I look thinner, my clothes fit substantially better so it's a little annoying. I have really upped my exercise including HIIT so some of it can be explained my muscle gain I guess. But still, id have hoped to have lost something. I'm not going to let it discourage me though.

I was going to go v low carb but haven't really stuck to that-I think next week I'll go back to trying that.

Good luck this weekend everyone-weekends are always my most challenging time.

yukka · 05/06/2020 09:05

@beautyqueenfrompluto well firstly that's amazing, all those lovely clothes you can now wear! And secondly how annoying! I'll go for the stupid question first - are you sure your scales are working properly? We have digital ones and put new batteries in as dh said he didn't they they were right and I think I agree. Or are they manual? Is it worth investing in new ones to see? Or put them on a different floor surface first and see?

You must have lost 'inches' for there to be a difference in clothes, that's awesome.

Yesterday went well for me, was rigid with the plan, didn't have my snacks in the end so was a 750calorie day? But I didn't feel that hungry. I think food in the morning and shake in the afternoon works better for me.

Passing up on alcohol this weekend, going to go really strict on the diet for a bit. The thought of (hopefully) seeing my family next month/dds first birthday and being a size smaller is fuelling my determination.

Today is
B oat bran galette with mushroom and bacon lardons
L protein shake
D fajita bowl, no wraps
S apple, cottage cheese

@myohmywhatawonderfulday did you mention a recipe for oat bran bread/bagels?

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 05/06/2020 10:43

Beauty -that is so brilliant. You are doing so well. Have you got any pictures that you can look at side by side from before? What you describe has happened to me - when I was lazer focused for my wedding. I was 8 stone 10 for at least 11 weeks but my body shape completely changed. People would ask me how much weight I had lost and I would have to say ....errr I haven't lost much weight on the scales.

I am liking our focus - it really helps me - Yukka you are doing amazing! The oatbran bagel goes like this:

2 table spoons of cottage cheese
2 eggs
2 teaspoons of quick yeast/baking powder
4 table spoons of oat bran
2 table spoons of wheat bran or porrdige oats (I didn't have wheat bran so I used porrdige oats).
Pinch of salt

Whizz it up
Bake at 180 for 30 mins

Put your baking tin/bagel molds on the tray that goes in your oven on the tray before you fill it up with your mixture. I didn't the first time and then had a right old mess trying to transfer it into the oven because its quite a wet mixture.

Today's menu looks like this:
B: Shake
L: Shake
D: Mackerel fillet with salad (although I might switch lunch and dinner around).

Tomorrow marks day 50 for me and so its a big one!
Have great days wearing clothes you couldn't a few weeks ago!!!

That's fab @myohmywhatawonderfulday well done!

Sorry I've just caught up here and hope I can still join!
Lost nearly a stone and have another stone and few pounds to go before I decide if I want to loose any more.

Sticking to the 1200cals a day through MFP and exercising but not logging it on the app.
Currently 68.5kg down from 74kg want to get down to 62 with my initial target being 65kg and go from there to see how I look and feel.
Not cutting out any food groups but being mindful of my portions and if I am really craving that bit of chocolate/pack of crisps I will adjust my calorie intake accordingly to allow for it.

I've mostly found sticking to 1200 for me means just meals and no snacks + my usual 2 coffees and water. Exercise is with the aim to tone and strengthen rather than loose weight.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 06/06/2020 08:31

Here is a picture of the larger journey I have taken - its an encouragement that if I can do you, any of you can too.

Here is an extract from my diary from Feb 2019 (about when that first picture was taken and I weighed 11.7 stone).
Just waiting. Waiting to feel well. Waiting to feel comfortable in my body and not like an old blob. Waiting to eat well and not be consumed by junk. Waiting to feel happy. Waiting to wake up in the morning and look forward to the day. Waiting to not feel like I am not going to cry. Waiting to feel like I can just be myself. Just waiting..just waiting..too much waiting..maybe I should start moving and shaking?

I had/have tried everything and when I started this 50 days ago ( just six weeks) I was already in a routine of healthy eating and regular exercise. I tried Dukan in desperation, because it was the only thing I hadn't tried. And I have been shocked at what has happened.
I have been committed. I have followed the 'rules' I set myself every day and sometimes I have felt hungry and cold and fed up.

But here is a diary entry of mine from last week: My skin is so clear, my joint pain has completely gone. Zero IBS. My mood is balanced - I cannot remember a flat or low day despite being in lockdown. My clothes are fitting. Its sunny and I am so thankful to be here, right now.

For me, today represents that I moved, I shaked, I committed, I prepared, I showed up, I followed through, I never gave up, I tried just one more thing.

It's much more than 14.5lbs.

Thanks to team Lockdown Lose a Stone who have joined in along the way and shared your recipes and encouragements and NSV and I hope you are all well x
