Lockdown lose a stone! That tricky last stone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 18/04/2020 11:38

Hello,
So I got back on the scales today and I was 9 stone 12.5.

The Dukan diet calculator says I can be 8 stone 10 by June 20.
Can this be true? Let us try it out!!

Based on my exhaustive and extensive diet 'research' from the last 27 out of 41 years of my life and weight ranging between 8 stone and 12.7 stone I am going to do the following:

  1. Daily 'change my mindset' reading in the morning
  2. Meal plan for the week but every morning commit to what I am going to eat for the day.
  3. Follow a low carb diet based on Dukan when my book arrives and Louise Parker recipes because I love her.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays are 16/8 days.
  5. Beachbody on demand - Morning meltdown 100 workouts.

I have lipoedema and I am not 100% sure my thyroid works.
I haven't got any lower than 9 stone 10 in the last two years.

I feel well and might as well use this lockdown time to focus on balancing the blood sugar and my insulin response! Weight loss should be the result.

Anyone else want to join in and lose a stone over the next couple of months?

Huge well done Myohmy, your middle looks so trim now and you look really healthy and fit. Thanks for sharing pictures and your diary entry. You have been so dedicated you really deserve the great results.

I will try and weigh later, the dog got spooked by strong winds on walk and yanked me badly earlier. Pulled muscles in my back, hoping to stretch it out gradually. In pain and can’t do a thing right now.

Hope everyone doing ok.

yukka · 06/06/2020 15:08

@myohmywhatawonderfulday

YIPPEEEEEE HURRAAAAY AMAZING!!!!!

So pleased you have done it!! All your hard work and commitment has paid off. The pictures look great, so rewarding to see the physical change!

Hope I can say the same in another few weeks. I'm half a pound down this week which isn't bad given last weeks 'time off' and limited exercise. Feeling good to keep going xx

yukka · 06/06/2020 15:10

@RedKite1 oh no sorry you've hurt yourself. Yes rest and stretching hopefully will ease it 💐

RedKite1 · 06/06/2020 21:02

Thanks Yukka, it took 4 hours and involved hot water bottles strapped to lower back but I am pain free.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 07/06/2020 07:51

Hello!!

Thank you!!!

I am glad you are feeling better but take it easy.
I have decided to go onto the consolidation phase of the Dukan - which is basically:

B: Oatbran
L: Protein plus veg/salad
D: Protein plus veg/salad

But now I get to add in fruit and some extras - a celebration meal every week and some bread (but I am going to test how that makes my joints feel).

Have a happy Sunday everyone x

@myohmywhatawonderfulday
Phenomenal news and well deserved after such commitment!
Many congrats.

I'm still hovering around 11st as I've not stuck to 1k calories every day this week and due to circs very little exercise but back on it today with a big run. Will be mixing up the exercise with online HITT classes this week and sticking to 1k cals as I'm determined to be 10.9 in 2 weeks!!

TeaRose29 · 07/06/2020 13:41

Well done @myohmywhatawonderfulday, you look absolutely
amazing! That stomach (or lack of it 😬😬)!! As you know, I swear by Dukan - 2 years ago I lost over a stone by following it pretty closely, and I kept it off (pretty easily) for 15 months. I only put back about 9 pounds after two very indulgent holidays last year. It's brilliant to hear that someone else has had such success when nothing else worked.

It's interesting that you are doing consolidation - Dr D really stresses this, to avoid putting weight back on. Please stay on the thread and report back!

This time round I'm nowhere near my stone yet - I have lost a few pounds but I haven't been sticking to the plan closely enough.

Anyway, after seeing your pictures on Saturday I went straight to big Tesco and stocked up on all things Dukan - 0% yogurt, quark, turkey bacon, steak, fish, lean ham, capers, gherkins, eggs, salad. I've made a long list of Dukan-compliant meal ideas as well, and I've also been though my Dukan cookbook and put post-it notes on recipes I like the look of.

Full steam ahead now! I want to be 9.13 by 1st July!

Today:

B = 0% Greek yogurt, rose water flavouring, SF raspberry and blackcurrant jelly

L = protein shake (0% yogurt and Banana flavour protein powder)

D = sea bass and salad

S = lean ham and mustard

Have a great day everyone!

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 08/06/2020 15:46

Hi there,

Thanks OhCobblers - keep going you can do it!

Thanks TeaRose29 - your menu looks like a great dukan menu! I have rose water flavouring as well - I will use that tomorrow - what a great idea!

Hi everyone
I’ve been so busy and quiet on here but believe it or not I’ve been trying hard with my weight loss - for my slow and steady at the moment . Today’s weigh in was 10’2 1/4- down 1.5lbs from last week.

My- wow your pics are amazing and such a difference. I’m envious of your sculpted arms. What do you do to get them??

So for me I’m just going to carry on as it seems to be working, slowly.

Been sticking to the 16:8 when I can. My aim is to get in to the 9 bracket. So it’s only just over 2lbs. Just taking each day as it comes

Not sure about food as need to go to Asda later. But currently waiting in for a delivery.

Feeling positive.

Yukka · 11/06/2020 19:20

@Squashbanana125 that's brilliant well done. Steady is deff the way to go for long term loss - and you're so close to braking the 10 stone mark! Keep going.

I've done well this week and hoping for a 2 pound loss. Focussing on proteins has really helped and keeping up the exercise.

I've seen a skirt that I really want to wear but need to be slim to pull it off, so prob another 6/7 poinds to go but its given me added determination.

My running pram has arrived! Will have a go this weekend, think my legs have recovered from the last attempt with the normal pram.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Squashbanana125 · 11/06/2020 22:40

Well done yukka. The skirt sounds lovely and will be a nice treat once you have reached your goal.

Totally know what you mean about upping your protein. I have been trying to do that too.

And I’m finally at a place where I don’t feel I’m on a diet. So I’m in a good headspace

Keep going and let us know how weigh in goes

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 12/06/2020 20:07

Squashbanna - that is such good news. I am so glad for you and your feelings around not feeling like you are on a diet.
Yukka - How is your pram? I hope it makes going for your runs smoother.

It was my son's seventh birthday but I have mostly been on track. I had a bit of a heavier workload this week which always throws me off a bit. I need to learn to approach this differently so I don't keep repeating the same old same old.

Morning ladies,

Well pleased to report I have broken the 10.8 stalemate and am 10.6 1/2 this morning. Yippee! It's great to feel I'm in the lower half of the stone now. My body has deff gone into ketosis and I need to keep it that way for a bit longer!

Pram is amazing, it's top condition for second hand, going out in it later today.

Hope anyone else weighing has a good day.

@myohmywhatawonderfulday hope your son had a nice birthday x

OhCobblers · 13/06/2020 10:57

@yukka I was reading your post while in bed sipping coffee, thinking I'd have a lazy morning. Intended to do a big run tomorrow.
Seeing your weight loss for the week inspired me to go out running for 30 mins!! Big run still to come tomorrow though!

No weight loss here this week annoyingly but I think I'm retaining a load of water for various reasons but a short run helps!!

Squashbanana125 · 14/06/2020 22:20

Happy birthday to your son My

Well done yukka on the loss! Amazing

Ohcob- atleast you went for a run, hopefully scales move this week for you.

Monday tomorrow...let’s all have a great week

overweightcat · 15/06/2020 08:11

Well done @yukka

Not the best start to Monday morning for me, had an awful night last night and missed my morning exercise with DP. Not sure if I'll manage it today was only supposed to do 25mins but I'm still not feeling the best.

Will be sticking to 1200cals today and drinking lots of water as I've been feeling quite dehydrated these last few days.

On the plus side DP took a picture of me and DCs yesterday and I looked at it and didn't cringe for the first time in a long time! I look slimmer and don't fill my clothes out like I used to and my face doesn't look all puffy and chubby. Still a stone to go but I'm glad I actually stuck to something this time after 7 years of false starts.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 15/06/2020 10:24

Hello!

Yukka!! So pleased for you!!! Squash - great news about your run! And Cat - I hope you feel a bit better and I am pleased about your picture - that must feel good.

Thanks for all your wishes to my son.

So, I have decided that I am really going to try for the tricky last pounds and try for 8.7 stone.

It's Monday - its time for a fresh re-focus and a jump back into it!

I'm back after being a bit unmotivated. But I'm hoping to meet friends this weekend and I want to look as good as I can do totally back on it. I also did a food shop today so I've plenty in and will start back on MFP.
Glad to see everyone's posts and catch up.

Squashbanana125 · 18/06/2020 11:00

How’s it going everyone?

Welcome back beauty? How are you finding it?

Weigh in today as a 1 1/4 lb loss so down to 10’1. Slow and steady. It’s been this way all along for me. My target is to get in to the 9’s bracket and I’ll go from there.

Actually it may have been more this week but Tuesday evening I had my first McDonald (don’t normally eat this) but dc’s begged me to go. So had a nice burger and a McFlurry. had I not had that it may have been more.

This week I plan to be good and try and relax on the weekend with Father’s Day Sunday. I was hoping to do a bbq with all the trimmings if it doesn’t rain and have my father over to sit and enjoy it with us in the garden. Not made a plan b yet if it rains. And I ordered him some lovely biscuit cakes which I want to try too

Going to do my eating window today 12-8
B fast
L tuna and cottage cheese salad
D not sure maybe kofte kebabs and Greek salad

overweightcat · 18/06/2020 12:57

Hi All!

DP dragged me out of bed this morning for a workout after I kept snoozing the alarm and I might've told him I'm not his friend anymore Blush
40 min fat burner + 7 min Joe Wicks abs for some reason Hmm ticked off this morning.

I was gearing up to be super good today after I felt better after my shower and coffee and then I had a notification pop up on my phone saying my doughnut delivery it's on it's way BlushBlushBlush
I ordered them a few weeks ago as a Father's Day thing and completely forgot about them!
They're huge and topped with all sorts of loveliness and I'm trying to persevere and stay away but I think I'm going to have to call today a cheat day and swap it with Saturday!
Oh I don't know, or should I just have doughnuts for dinner and hope it comes under my cals?

Hope everyone is having better luck on the food front than me today!

Squashbanana125 · 18/06/2020 13:50

Overweight - I don’t like saying your name I feel rude. The doughnuts sound amazing. Maybe have 1 and try and work it in to your calories esp as you have been good. I often thinks it helps to just raise calories for a day now and again.

Enjoy Smile

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 24/06/2020 20:10

Hello,

How is everyone doing?

I can't believe how quickly time goes.

Any way I have been totally (well not totally) rubbish. My workouts have been much more sporadic and I am feeling the weight go back already.

So I have to do what works.

Which is committing every morning to what I am going to eat and what I am going to do.

Sorry to everyone for my boring posts but I am going to start again with the rules that I gave myself all the way back in the beginning!!

xxx

OhCobblers · 25/06/2020 10:26

So I need to kickstart the weight loss as I think I hit a plateau.
I'm on 800 calories a day of protein.
Exercising well but not going over the top and I'm down 2lbs this week.

Hoping for another 2lb loss by Saturday but that might fail a bit as I will be cracking open the wine tomorrow!!

overweightcat · 25/06/2020 10:37

Hi @myohmywhatawonderfulday
AF has arrived here so feeling rather crap and have a headache coming on with this heat so going to try lots and lots of water today. I had a jump up on the scales from 66.5kg midway through last week to 67.5kg I don't know if it was a combination of imminent AF and the doughnuts I mentioned on Thursday but luckily it seems to have shifted now and this morning before I drank or ate anything it's showing 66kg on the dot.
I'm sticking to 1200cals and I've recently looked up what my maintenance calories would be when/if I hit my goal weight to see if it's actually manageable or just a silly target if I have to restrict myself forever to keep it and they're around 1700/1800 which I would be happy with so keeping on that course.

@OhCobblers well done on your loss! - do you think you need to maybe up your cals? I've read on one thread that sometimes when you're on very low cals your metabolism slows down and adjusts to surviving on that hence the plateau and sometimes you need to actually eat more to kick start it again. Not sure if it's right or not but maybe worth looking into?
