Hello my lovely losers and welcome to the April edition of lose 7lbs/3kg per month!

Previous thread here :) Lose 7lbs/3kg a month - The March Thread http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3835693-lose-7lbs-3kg-a-month-the-march-thread

All are welcome regardless of how much you want to lose or what method you are following.

All I ask for is the amazing support and positivity I see every month from this absolutely amazing little corner of mumsnet.

Obviously things are going to be a bit weird this month. If your goal is just to maintain then that's absolutely fine. Stick with us, share your plans, recipes, hopes and achievements. Share your good days and your down days. Chat is not limited to just dieting and food. You regulars have kept me going this last few weeks!!

Anyway, enough mushy stuff! See you all tomorrow for start of the month weigh in!!!

Much love and stay safe! ❤️❤️

Hi all,
I am finding this thread very helpful to read through - it’s nice that it’s so positive!
Ended up being very ‘good’ over Easter and didn’t have much chocolate at all. Also having lots of long walks - we’re lucky to have a lot of very quiet public footpaths round here and I’m finding the nice weather is really beneficial to my mood. I think I suffer quite badly from SAD and I never really realise until the warmer weather comes and I start feeling so much happier!
I’m only going to weigh myself every few weeks as I find I get a bit disheartened when I only see a drop of a pound or two.

On another note, can anyone recommend a good set of scales? The ones I have were about £15 by salter (the mechanical ones) but they’re rubbish! When I started slimming world they weighed me at 12 stone and then I was actually 12s 10lbs on the SW scales! The dial wobbles around all over the show on mine.
Any recommendations welcome!

jamrollyolly · 14/04/2020 12:51

Hi can I join? I need to lose 10lbs to get back into the healthy zone, although more would be great. I had a lockdown clear out of my closet last week; all clothes that don't fit went into suitcases under the bed. My cupboard is almost empty!
I'm hoping not being at work and stress eating biscuits might help, and I'm on day two of really watching what I eat- two scrambled eggs spinach and dry toast for lunch, a salad for dinner. We'll see how it goes!

Tryingtwo · 14/04/2020 18:00

Hello all, managed to stick to my calories yesterday and so far today but have found it hard to get motivated. I will count today as a sts because I was up by 2lbs pre-shower but down by 0.2lbs, from yesterday's weight, post shower.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 14/04/2020 21:04

Hello everyone.

Hope we are all ok.

I've been slowly increasing my activity as my diet has not been great if I'm honest.
Easter. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Covid 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today I did an hours walking with my daughter, cycled 10k then did a 40min Les Mills BodyBalance class. If I can keep this up I stand a chance of going back to work less of a whale.

Wednesday would normally be my weigh in day but I'm not going to weigh tomorrow, I'll weigh next Weds instead.

Keep safe everyone.

JessJonesJumps · 14/04/2020 21:14

Welcome jamrolly it sounds like you've made a good start!

cricket someone on an earlier thread recommended Yoga with Adriene. She has workouts for people with back problems. I can't manage all of her exercises so I miss those ones out and just lie peacefully on the floor Grin Cosmic Kids is much faster and more energetic. You actually work up a sweat. DS and I tipped over quite a few times so there was much more laughter with the Cosmic Kids one!
I empathise with your inability to grow fruit. I've tried to grow tomatoes lots of times over the years and it's always a failure. The only think I've managed to grow is mushrooms and I'm not sure that counts since it's simply putting a box in the dark and watering it occasionally.

MotherOfDragonite · 14/04/2020 22:20

Welcome @jamrollyolly! I think it can be a fun thing to do while we are in lockdown. Certainly it's giving me at least a small sense of control over one bit of my life :-)

So, I'm not sure if I will lose anything when I weigh in tomorrow. I've done a bit of baking with the girls, and had a few snacking mishaps as I come up to "that time of the month", although thankfully I've stayed on track in between those.

I did well drinking water today but am still not finding time to exercise. Rather than beat myself up about it, I think I will take this one off the table just for now. Might join in and do some Cosmic Kids with the girls though - thanks for the suggestion @JessJonesJumps!

Jollyholibobs · 14/04/2020 22:50

Hi all I would like to join. I really like the positive vibe. I was on this thread in June or July last year with some success but have since got into very poor habits.
Weighed in this morning at 10 st 9.4 which is 18.6lbs heavier than this time last year. Some of that may just be being full of chocolate and hot cross buns! I will use mfp and am getting back to running and zoom PT sessions. Looking forward to feeling better and hoping to be able to avoid having to buy new summer clothes.

ploughingthrough · 15/04/2020 01:34

Morning all from Singapore. Welcome to all the new joiners you in the right place for support and accountability.
I was going to take a jog today but a) it is so hot and humid today b) the government decided late last night that you're not allowed to step out your front door without a mask on or you risk a $300 fine and I can't jog with a mask on. All a bit stressful really so opted for a fitness blender Pilates workout instead.
My weigh pre and post Pilates was 62.4kg which is 2kg from the start of April. Beyond my expectations and a bit over 13kg lost from the start of this journey. Got you lovely lot to thank. Not sure what I'm going for next but I'll get to the end of April and see where I am at. I fear that much more loss isn't sustainable for me long term.

Onceuponatimethen · 15/04/2020 07:38

Morning all!

Congratulations those with losses, commiserations to those with me on having gained a bit this week. Welcome to everyone new - I’m sure you will find the thread very useful!

I’m really determined not to skip back completely after gaining a bit post Easter. I did better with food and exercise yesterday - 8.5k steps and no snacks at all finally!!

Today’s plan is:

Small bowl sugar free cereal and fruit for breakfast

Lunch = veg soup

Dinner will have to be spag Bol as that’s what we have to use up date wise. I’m going to go very light on the spag

No snacks!

Exercise- I’m going to try to get up to 10k steps with joining in with kids workouts, walking round on the phone to dbro and doing some silly dance routines with dds

MotherOfDragonite · 15/04/2020 09:55

Weigh in this morning and I have actually lost half a pound. It's not what I'd hope for most weeks, but this week I'm delighted!

Starting weight: 17 st 8.5 lb
Last week's weight: 16 st 2.5 lb
Current weight: 16 st 2 lb (-0.5 lb)
Total weight lost: 20.5 lb
Still to lose: 52 lb

This week I am going to focus on drinking lots of water consistently, not eating too much of the bread I'm baking, and maybe trying to change my evening snack strategy...

Tryingtwo · 15/04/2020 10:38

Good morning all and welcome to jamrollyolly and Jollyholibobs
Weighed in this morning at 12st 1.2lbs which is up from Saturday but down from Monday - I can't remember what I weighed last Wednesday.Smile

Tryingtwo · 15/04/2020 10:43

I checked back and I was 12st 1.8lbs last week, so a loss of 0.6lbs for the week.

JessJonesJumps · 15/04/2020 11:21

Slightly down again today. We have (fingers crossed) a delivery coming today so if it does, we will be having salmon for dinner. I think I'll make onion soup for lunch.

No yoga yet today as DS is playing with his friend online and he doesn't often get the chance to play with her.

However, I've come up with a new plan to make me exercise. I have to wear my gym clothes until I've exercised! My gym clothes don't suit me at all so I'm hoping that will spur me on to exercise - fitness through vanity 🙈
Official WI day tomorrow for me.

FraserBear · 15/04/2020 16:19

Hello everyone! Had a difficult couple of weeks with a death in the family (not Covid) but hoping to get back on track tomorrow. New goal for 1st May is to be below where I was on 1st April (75.4)! Congratulations to everyone doing better than me Smile

recklessgran · 15/04/2020 22:09

Evening all. Ridiculous work day so still at my desk. I've been bad and eaten a large slice of the Victoria sandwich I made this afternoon. Sigh.
Anyway, welcome to our new ones and well done to all those who are managing to lose anything at the moment. I need a kick as not feeling it at all and seem to have totally lost my motivation.New day tomorrow.

JessJonesJumps · 15/04/2020 23:41

Fraser sorry for your loss Flowers Be gentle on yourself and take time to grieve.

reckless no wonder you're not feeling motivated when work is so busy and your days are so long. I find it impossible to eat healthily in those circumstances.

ploughingthrough · 16/04/2020 01:04

recklessgran you're not bad for eating one slice of cake (large or not!). You didn't eat the whole cake, and you don't eat it every day. So, it's fine. Everyone needs a sugary pick-me-up now and again and one little snaccident isn't going to undo all your hard work. Sending you motivational vibes for tomorrow.

FraserBear I'm sorry to hear that - be kind to yourself.

cricketmum84 · 16/04/2020 06:06

Morning all. Sorry I was absent yesterday! Work is really taking it out of me, 14 hours of just pure fire fighting and then promptly fell asleep after a naughty takeaway! I did only eat half though and apart from half of DDs crumpet it was my only food for the day.

On the plus side I've really got my water intake up, I have been bringing my brita jug into the living room and constantly topping up my glass.

@ShesGotBetteDavisEyes I have the ww digital scales. They do all sorts of clever things like recording weigh, body fat percentage etc that I've never even attempted to do with them but probably good if you like that kind of thing 😂 mine are from Argos and weren't very expensive.

Hi @jamrollyolly and welcome :) ooh I might join you with the spinach and eggs today! Do you wilt the spinach with the scrambled eggs or do it separately?

@Tryingtwo what on Earth did you do in the shower to lose 2lbs? 😂

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that's an impressive exercise log!

Welcome back @Jollyholibobs lovely to see you again!

Well done on the loss @MotherOfDragonite :) it's so hard to lose during this lockdown!

So sorry for your loss @FraserBear

@recklessgran I feel your pain on the work side of things. It's just relentless here! I'm feeling very lucky that eldest DD is back home with us as she is an excellent cook and loves to experiment on me with vegan concoctions. Otherwise I could see 2 weeks of sandwiches and toast coming!! One slice of cake isn't going to undo all the hard work you have put in over the last few months!

Plan for today is:
Water water water
Brunch - eggs and spinach :) maybe some chopped up quorn bacon?
Dinner - leftover takeaway from past night

Not expecting a loss this week!

Jollyholibobs · 16/04/2020 09:03

Good couple of days for me so far. Plan for today is porridge with banana for breakfast, rice salad for lunch, apple snack and no plan yet for dinner.

Dinner is the difficult bit as we have a house full during lockdown and every one is taking a turn of cooking. I hate it when people don’t just eat what I make so I fell obligated to do the same. Yesterday was bolangnese but I went very light on the pasta. Have a good day everyone.

Tryingtwo · 16/04/2020 12:50

Good morning all, my weight is slightly down today but it's dgs2's birthday today and dd is making his cake as I type. She has 3 blocks of chocolate, 3 boxes of Cadbury's fingers and 4 tubes of smarties for decorating! Obviously no party but as he's only 3 he doesn't really understand - dgs1 is more disappointed.
cricketmum84 I tend to zone out in the shower, but if I ever work out how I did it I promise I'll share my miraculous lose 2lb per day eat what you like with no exercise wash it away plan 😂

JessJonesJumps · 16/04/2020 13:06

WI day today - Apr loss: 3.6lbs
Total loss since Jan : 1st 3.8lbs
I couldn't have done it without these threads (and lockdown restricted shopping! 😂 ) but mainly these threads!
I have salmon to use today so either salmon, apple and brie salad for lunch or salmon gratin for dinner.

recklessgran · 16/04/2020 13:35

Afternoon all. Thank you all for your encouraging messages further to cakegate. Also thank you @TryingTwo for making me properly laugh - I won't be able to have a shower ever again without wondering how much weight I'm washing away! Hope DGS has a lovely birthday regardless and that you all enjoy the chocfest.
@CricketMum84 I'm glad DD is back home with you and enjoying her cooking - would you like to send her here - I'd be thrilled to have my own built in chef.
Food plan for today. OMAD. Gammon and egg for dinner followed by sugar free jelly and blackberries.
I have lost a woeful quarter of a pound in the last week. Better than a gain. [I'm trying to imagine a quarter of sweets from the old fashioned sweet shop and thinking that's actually not a bad loss.]

MotherOfDragonite · 16/04/2020 19:09

Well done @JessJonesJumps! I am finding the lockdown restrictions on shopping make it harder rather than easier (can't find my favourite low-point go-to snacks!) so you much also be doing something right...

@recklessgran -- a loss is a loss! Well done!

I have had a couple of good days. I also made a stunningly good veggie bean chilli, which we've had for supper on both days. It's this one, which I highly recommend: cookieandkate.com/vegetarian-chili-recipe/ (I added an extra onion and carrots, and some sweetcorn and soya chunks to bulk it up more and it made a good 8 portions)

Jollyholibobs · 17/04/2020 08:47

Good start so far. Scales are down each day but that’s hardy surprising as I was full of hot cross buns at the start of the week. Didn’t sleep wey as I woke up hungry quite a bit. Not sure how to remedy that as I ate about 1400 calories yesterday and at 5’3 I won’t lose on less. Hopping I just need to get used to it.
Plan for today is
B _porridge made with water +chia seeds and banana
L - salad
D - veg ragu and wholewheat pasta.
Apple for snack
Workout with PT via zoom

GetTheStartyParted · 17/04/2020 09:40

Morning all.

Sounds good @Jollyholibobs For the hunger, could you push all your meals to slightly later in the day? Or failing that, make sure you're drinking plenty of water?

All going fine here. Not expecting to lose this week as it's TOTM and I lost 3lbs last week but still managed to stick to the keto WOE despite a large Easter egg staring at me everyday. I haven't decided if I'm going to eat it or give it to the DC.

I have just given my daughter her first lockdown haircut Grin she's 24 and starts a new job in 2 weeks so wanted to look a bit tidier. She's happy enough with it. I don't think I found my vocation though!
