Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

Current weight: 18st 4lbs

@Onesmallstep67 so sorry to hear about your cat, that is so sad. What horrible news for you.

I had my usual weekend of being a bit too relaxed about what I ate, however I did make it to the gym both weekend days, so feel that counteracted it a bit. Better start to the week today, and feeling confident for the week ahead. I have a gym class booked tomorrow and will do a quick cardio session afterwards as well, then an early morning class booked for Wednesday too. May make it on Friday as well, but we’ll see!

No weighing for me until Friday morning, hoping for 1.5lb this week.

I'm so sorry to hear about stepcat @Onesmallstep67 That's such sad news. Look after yourself Flowers

Onceuponatimethen · 02/03/2020 18:45

I’m so sorry @Onesmallstep67 I know how cats are part of the family Flowers

cricketmum84 · 02/03/2020 19:17

@GetTheStartyParted celeriac is a difficult one to describe. It's a little bit peppery, like celery Cos it's the celery root ball. But when you toss it in things like garlic, herbs, paprika and chilli it takes the flavour on really well. Definitely worth a try with him though!!

It also makes a BEAUTIFUL mash!

Thank you, one to add to the list then.

So sorry @Onesmallstep67 Flowers

Onesmallstep67 · 02/03/2020 20:09

Thank you everyone for all your kind messages. It's been a tough day. Just glad that we found out and have that closure.

Jan 79kg
Feb 76.5kg

Egghead68 · 02/03/2020 20:17

So sorry to hear that @onesmallstep67. Flowers

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 02/03/2020 21:02

I’m sorry OneSmallStep Sad

I weigh more than ever today, 2lbs up on yesterday... and 11 weeks away from my wedding Blush. I did 85 minutes at the gym today, a mix of cardio, weights and floor work, with the fiancé. I ate pretty well today, too, lots of protein... but I’m 70 calories over my target because I just ate some chocolate eggs Confused and I don’t usually get anywhere near my calorie target, because Team RH set it at 1700 and I’m scared that will make me bigger! I’ve been eating 1200 for months.

Now I’m resting for tomorrow’s gym session GrinConfused

Good luck all!

Tryingtwo · 03/03/2020 00:20

Just reading updates before bed, I so sorry to hear about your cat Onesmallstep67 Flowers

ploughingthrough · 03/03/2020 02:01

So sorry about your cat 😭
Weighed in at 67.05kg this morning having been plateaued at 67.55 for aaaages. It's a real game of patience to lose slowly and steadily isn't it and not lose hope when the scales don't move for a long time.

Egghead68 · 03/03/2020 06:15

63.9 Kg so same as yesterday. I’m very lucky it’s not worse after 3 days of 3000+ calories a day and no exercise. I need to get a grip. Being sick doesn’t give me carte blanche to eat what I want.
Hope everyone has a good day and that you are being very kind to yourself @Onesmallstep67.

Egghead68 · 03/03/2020 07:17

Ok. I have stir-fried veg and fruit salad to graze on instead of trifle, profiteroles, nuts and fried cheese.

Onwards and upwards.

Onceuponatimethen · 03/03/2020 07:29

That sounds good @Egghead68

I just calculated there were 1000s of calories in the dinner our friends cooked dp and me last night but have told myself it doesn’t matter as the rest of the day I had been really sensible!!

Today is going to be:

Brek - mushroom omelette
Lunch - soup
Dinner - salmon with cous cous and veg

Dp has banned shakes so we aren’t going to do them Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 03/03/2020 07:30

I'm so sorry about your cat @Onesmallstep67 :-( I have really grieved for both of my cats when they died, so I know how it is.

Had a bad day yesterday and ate two vegan brownies again. I really have to make sure that I don't have them in the house! I think it was because I had skipped lunch completely (working through) and then was unreasonable and starving. Also, I am getting worried about coronavirus, so that was the emotional trigger (probably we'll be fine overall, but I'm mostly concerned about what happens if I get ill and am unable to care for the children).

Anyway, today is another day and I can be better again and stay on track for a loss when I weigh in tomorrow.

Generally speaking I have been eating a lot more healthily. I am still not good enough at drinking water (especially at work) so that is my goal for March. I am going to start bringing a bottle with me.

MotherOfDragonite · 03/03/2020 07:32

The plan:

B: boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce!
L: vegetable soup
D: baked sweet potato, salsa, salad with chickpeas
S: loads of tea with oat milk and a latte, carrot sticks

And I'm going to drink lots of water.

cricketmum84 · 03/03/2020 07:59

Morning all!

@AnchorDownDeepBreath don't be downhearted about a little gain. That could very easily be water retention from all the hard work you are doing in the gym. I'm sure it will settle down soon.

@ploughingthrough very true! I could kick my scales sometimes!!!

Are you feeling a bit better now @Egghead68

Haha your DP is sensible @Onceuponatimethen! Every time I've done a shake diet I've piled it all back in again and been miserable..

@MotherOfDragonite ah we all have bad days, your plan for today sounds good though! And yes I also need to up the water intake!

I did good yesterday and avoided the quality street littlest DD kept offering me and then the Thornton's birthday chocs that DH kept offering. I'm just in a family of feeders!! I filled my chilli out with loads of veg to reduce calories and make 4 portions instead of 2. Newly vegetarian eldest DD loved it so I'm counting that as a win!

Plan for today is:
B - raspberries and blackberries with a little alpro yoghurt
L - carrot sticks and hummous
D - chickpea, courgette and pepper curry with green rice

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

TheOnlyMrsW · 03/03/2020 08:04

Yesterday was yoghurt & granola for breakfast, halloumi salad for lunch and spicy chicken trayback for dinner, looking back at the last thread not enough water is my downfall as well along with a very sedentary job - it's not unknown for me to only move from my desk for a bathroom stop Blush. I'm not a fan of still water and prefer sparkling but feel bad about the plastic wastage - does anyone else have the same? I do drink a lot of herbal tea but can't see getting through 2 litres of the stuff tbh........

TheOnlyMrsW · 03/03/2020 08:05

Trayback = traybake opps.

Also meant to say am in awe of some of the losses on here - there is hope for me after all!

Newyearnewarse · 03/03/2020 08:27

Yesterday was ok but I really need to do something about my witching hour. Between 4 and 6 I really want to eat rubbish.

I did go to the gym but I failed on the 5k . I managed 2.5 which was mostly at a fast walk . It actually shocked me how tricky I found it. But I now have a baseline and hopefully the next time will be better.
@Onesmallstep67 I am really sorry to hear about your cat. It sucks !

WingDefence · 03/03/2020 09:17

Morning all. B was porridge with strawberries, L will be veg soup and not sure about D yet Hmm

I work from home and I'm also very sedentary @TheOnlyMrsW! My watch tells me an average day for me is probably less than 2,000 steps. I bought myself one of those tracker water bottles and It actually has helped me up my water intake but all liquid counts. I read somewhere (can't find the link I'm afraid) that tea, coffee, all that counts as the diuretic effect of those doesn't wipe out the liquid intake. Or something Grin

Egghead68 · 03/03/2020 10:41

Yes thanks @cricketmum84. Hope you are too.

Just documenting to try to stop myself going totally over the top:
3 profiteroles (300 cals), 1 piece fruit cake (250), 1 pack nuts (450), 1 pack noodles (450), stir fried veg (250). Going to add in fruit salad (140) and options hot choc (50) later on and try to get out for a walk.

Onesmallstep67 · 03/03/2020 11:06

Thank you again everyone for all your lovely, thoughtful comments yesterday. More proof, if any were needed, that this is a wonderful supportive corner of Mumsnet which I for one value greatly.
Will weigh tomorrow as the last few days have not been the best food wise. Have a good day KOKO

recklessgran · 03/03/2020 11:06

@Onesmallstep67 I'm so sorry about @stepcat - that is so horrible for you but glad someone found her and did the right thing.
We've got the theatre tonight so going to the carvery for dinner beforehand. I will try to avoid Yorkshire/roasties and carby veg. if I am strong willed enough. Fingers crossed.
I haven't been doing very well with water either. Need to up my game - I can see how hard it is to maintain all these good habits in the long term - I'm only in week 10 and although I truly haven't cheated food wise the water and exercise really are quite a struggle. Kudos to you @CricketMum84 and the rest of you that have been on the wagon for months. I intend to stay here for the long term as I'm taking a once and for all attitude but have the greatest admiration for those losing stone after stone on here.
Have a good day all.

fractionated · 03/03/2020 11:30

Hi everyone, I'd like to join to try to get some motivation. I have two stone to lose after having a baby and I'm finding it incredibly difficult. I am using MFP to try to track calories, and to try to cut right back on carbs. I'm aiming for approx 1500 calories a day, but I spend all day (and night!) feeling absolutely starving on this amount! Am I doing something wrong? People seem to manage on a lot less than that 😕 will it get easier/will I get less hungry?

Starting weight: 12 stone 5
Goal: 10 stone 5

Here's what I ate yesterday, according to MFP:

Porridge with raisins: 500kcal
Two teas with milk: 50

Chicken breast 100g: 110
Tomato salsa: 40

Lightly breaded cod: 240
Lettuce: 20
Tomatoes: 20
New potatoes: 240

Snacks (at various times in day)
Banana: 100
Slice ham x2: 100
20 Cashews: 200
10 raspberries: 20
Greek yoghurt portion: 200
Apple: 100
Breadstick: 70
100g sweetcorn: 80

For various reasons I am not very active so I need to do mostly diet.
