Hi all, I've been out of the loop what with everything that has been going on but wanted to check in. Unfortunately I've put back on a pound so now teetering around 12 stone. It's just very hard not to eat when stuck at home and feeling stressed and anxious isn't it. Well done to everyone who is managing to keep losing! I will keep trying.

Tryingtwo · 26/03/2020 17:00

Hello all, MotherofDragonite my dgc are 6.5 and 3 (next month) and there are 3 adults to wrangle them and they are taken out once each day for a walk/play in the park - on your own and isolating you have my sincere sympathies respect WineGinFlowers

Tryingtwo · 26/03/2020 17:03

Tried to strikethrough sympathies not put it in italics [headdesk]

MotherOfDragonite · 26/03/2020 17:29

Thank you @SconNotScone and @recklessgran for the sympathy and suggestions! I live in a 'grocery black spot' so there are no local butchers, green grocers etc who will deliver. But I've found a company that previously supplied restaurants and are now doing veg boxes, and I've ordered one to start with!

I feel a bit let down by Ocado as I have been a weekly customer since 2008 and now cannot even get a slot! I would have thought they would prioritise loyal long-term customers a bit more to be honest and I'm a bit shocked that I can't seem to get a slot to order any groceries from them beyond this week.

On the plus side, I've lost 1lb of my 2.5lb gain. So I'm 1.5lb up and need to get rid of it this week!

MotherOfDragonite · 26/03/2020 17:30

@Fractionated I feel your pain! Hang in there! I'm recovering from my bad week last week and hoping to get more on track as I feel better when I'm more in control...

MotherOfDragonite · 26/03/2020 17:32

Thank you @Tryingtwo Wine Grin Brew

recklessgran · 26/03/2020 17:50

Afternoon all. O.K. here and weight now stable after losing a pound a day for 3 days running whilst not eating and worrying myself sick about all the DD's and DD4 in particular. I'm trying to be frugal foodwise to minimise waste. I'm a bit fed up with salad but trying to eat it before it goes off - so salad it is for me tonight. I had 4 chipolatas for lunch as I had 8 on their date. The other 4 went into a lovely thickly buttered roll for DD1. [Drool] DH had the veg soup left over from yesterday. Ashamed to admit that before all this one or both would have gone in the bin if we didn't fancy them. I am a reformed character.
@MotherOfDragonite I feel a bit hacked off with Ocado too. It remains to be seen whether or not I get my delivery on 8th April and like you I haven't been able to get any more slots. It's difficult times so trying to be reasonable even though I don't feel like being so!
Hope everyone is bearing up under the strain. KOKO

FraserBear · 26/03/2020 17:55

Hello everyone Smile
I’m struggling to lose at the moment- baking too many biscuits! At least I’m not putting any on. Going to try intermittent fasting for the first time - see if that kick starts anything Grin

Ecci · 26/03/2020 20:23

Hi All, not been on here for a bit due to a nasty ear infection. 2 lots of antibiotics later, I'm finally on the mend. It's looking like my March loss will only be 3 or 4 lbs, but that's better than a gain, and my size 16 jeans are now comfortable instead of a squeeze.
I've been having some fairly random meals, to use up things, and also due to shortages. I had cabbage cooked in Hoisin sauce with an egg for lunch, then DH got in a strop because I spoke to some neighbours from a distance of 4 metres. He annoyed me so much that I had a bacon and beetroot sandwich for dinner. It was delicious though. Hope all are keeping safe and sane in these weird times. Looking forward to reading about all your end of month successes in a few days.

ploughingthrough · 27/03/2020 02:04

Hi everyone . Well done for keeping going everyone during these tough times.
I am a teacher and was in school yesterday recording loads of demo videos and preparing lots of work for home learning. Our senior team ordered in pizza for the whole staff so I succumbed and ate 4 sliced plus 2 cookies. So greedy but I was knackered and it was good.
I expect I'll pay for it on the scales some time soon but this morning 64.4kg . I'm planning a very low food day while I attempt to educate my own children ...

Onceuponatimethen · 27/03/2020 06:57

Morning all!

Trying to keep the food thing going with limited fridge options today and almost nothing low carb. Ocado due Monday but who knows if it will come?! I totally get your Ocado anger @MotherOfDragonite - I’ve been shopping with them weekly since 2010 and had the delivery saying Ocado reserved is cancelled. We have a food cupboard and I had ordered a back up food box from a box scheme for today, so I’m just really hoping that comes.

Breakfast - small bowl yoghurt with fruit
Lunch - bread, hummus and carrot sticks (3 carrots for all four of us!)

Dinner - I think bacon is the only protein left in the fridge! Might have to be bacon & baked beans

Onceuponatimethen · 27/03/2020 06:59

Sorry I meant the delivery related email saying Reserved is cancelled

cricketmum84 · 27/03/2020 09:46

Morning all!

Using up some veggies that aren't looking great and I'm going to make a gorgeously rich and tasty roasted veg pasta sauce to freeze in individual batches today.

Am back up to March starting weight today! Really must do better with food options and stop boredom snacking.

In other news my beautiful silent peacefulness has been shattered by bloody workmen digging up the road outside! I was really enjoying taking my coffee outside and listening to the birds. It got so quiet here (we are semi rural) that the buzzards were out circling!

Plan for today is:
B - coffee and lots of it
L - omelette
D - wholewheat spaghetti with the roasted veg sauce

No snacks and no wine.

KOKO my lovelies

MotherOfDragonite · 27/03/2020 10:17

KOKO, @cricketmum84! I am also not far below my March starting weight, but counting it as an achievement if I can keep below it!

Have stayed on plan for the first two days of this week and seem to be on track to lose what I put on last week.

Also, my sister's wedding is no longer going to be this summer, so in fact I can take inspiration from the delay to imagine that I might actually be at goal weight by the time it happens (the following summer).

The plan for today is DRINK MORE WATER.

B: boiled egg on half a bagel with Tabasco sauce
L: vegetable soup
D: left overs? I made a lovely veg cous cous with courgette, onion, carrot, chickpeas and two finely chopped dates in it last night.

Loving my new Anna Jones cookbook! I don't have half the ingredients but it is still really good as inspiration and has lots of healthy veggie options (especially if you reduce the oil).

JessJonesJumps · 27/03/2020 12:08

Well, necessity is making me drink more water because we have no fizzy juice left and I can only drink so much squash Envy so it's sparkling water until it runs out and then just tap water for me.
Inspired by you all, I ordered a fruit and veg box from a local company. My Tesco order comes tomorrow but I can't get one after that. All slots gone as far as the eye can see or as far as we can book in advance

GP called yesterday to say they'd missed one of my blood results and actually my iron stores are super low so I need to collect a prescription. Now, I'm weighing up the risk of going to the pharmacy against the fact I am constantly falling asleep. I slept for 13 hours last night plus 3 hours in the afternoon.

Weight is STS. If I can lose one pound by the end of the month, I'll finally have reached a stone but I feel I keep typing those words and am getting no closer to making them reality.

Sending you all strength and wellness and miraculous sudden weight losses you amazing MNers Flowers

recklessgran · 27/03/2020 12:30

Bacon and fried egg for brunch. Not sure about dinner yet. Have beef stew in slow cooker for DH and DD later. Will add dumplings to it. They also have apple and rhubarb crumble left over from yesterday for dessert. I'm SO tempted to have one of the 2 remaining hot cross buns which are past their best. Trying to talk myself down! So far I'm likely to make my March target of 5lbs off but won't if I eat the bun. So. KOKO everyone.

GetTheStartyParted · 27/03/2020 14:21

Hi all, today marks two months since I started my diet and I have lost exactly two stone Smile I have another 3.5 to 4 before I'm done but I'm getting there!

Brunch was cloud bread bacon and cheese sandwich and nuts.

Dinner is possibly chicken in a mushroom and boursin sauce with broccoli, haven't quite decided.

Glad you're all still checking in at this stressful time, the weight loss journey isn't the be all and end all at this time is it. Stay safe Flowers

Oh and DS is stuck in an isolation block now as he came into contact with someone showing symptoms shortly after. He's in good spirits, he says they put his food at the door and run away as fast as they can Grin Wish he was home but glad he seems ok.

Fractionated · 27/03/2020 16:48

That's amazing @GetTheStartyParted !

MotherOfDragonite · 27/03/2020 16:59

@Onceuponatimethen and @recklessgran so sorry you are having Ocado woes too.

@ploughingthrough it sounds like you deserved it! I take my hat off to all the teachers working in new ways and rushing to get started with new online learning at such short notice.

@GetTheStartyParted wow, what an incredible result! Very well done to you!!!

@JessJonesJumps keep on keeping on! If it's iron supplements, might it be worth ordering online and paying for it yourself rather than risk going in to collect a prescription? I remember I could buy Spatone on Amazon when I was pregnant and iron deficient...

GetTheStartyParted · 27/03/2020 19:36

Thank you, it's the lightest I've been for around 5 years so I'm very happy.

cricketmum84 · 28/03/2020 08:20

@MotherOfDragonite sad for your sister that her wedding is postponed but it does take some pressure off for the weight loss. How are you coping with the little ones? I also really need to up water intake!

@JessJonesJumps can you order the iron supplement online? Or failing that we have a loca company that collects and delivers prescriptions. Is there anything like that near you? I know it's easy to say but look at food sources too, if you can get hold of broccoli, kale, nuts and seeds they are good iron sources - spinach not so much though!

@recklessgran how is DD4 doing? I'm also going to make apple crumble today. Had some absolutely huge Bradley apples in my fruit and veg box this week and it's littlest DDs favourite dessert so thought I could freeze in individual portions so she has a hot pudding when she wants one :) you are doing so well, 5lbs off this month in these testing times is just amazing!

@GetTheStartyParted 🎉 that's amazing progress! Huge well done!!!

Plan for today is:
B - water and an apple
L - tomato and red pepper soup
D - waiting on to see what DH manages to get from the supermarket! He's currently in lidl and the shelves are pretty bare.

It's hard as in normal life I always do a full meal plan for the week, do my list from the meal plan and then shop from the list. I'm now having to make a list of essentials, see what was available when he gets back and then meal plan based on what we can get. Luckily my usual fruit and veg delivery place have promised a weekly delivery to their regular customers so I've got a big box coming Monday again. I've never been happier to be vegetarian as I certainly won't starve! Veg hating DH and DD May end up living on pasta only though Grin

beforeihit30 · 28/03/2020 08:49

Oh @cricketmum84 apple crumble sounds lovely, I don’t usually crave sweet things but I’m feeling sorry for myself! And custard... Grin

I seem to have tonsillitis again Sad Woke up with a sore throat yesterday and by the afternoon was shivering and really sore, just like it was a couple of weeks ago. Managed to get a GP phone appointment for this morning (AMAZING), waiting for the call now whilst gingerly sipping tea. I only finished antibiotics a week ago! I’ve not had this before so it’s really weird (and not the best timing but I don’t suppose there ever is good timing for recurring infections!). DH has told me not to worry if they ask me to go in, I’m hoping they can do it all over the phone and send my prescription to the pharmacy direct (which they usually do) and I’ll see if I can get someone to drop it in for us. We’re isolating as DH is on the vulnerable 12 weeks shielding list.

Haven’t weighed yet...

recklessgran · 28/03/2020 09:02

Morning all. Thanks for all your support it means a lot especially as we are isolated in real life. I don't think that I've ever spent so much time on the phone.
@CricketMum84 DD4 has 4 days off [A/L] starting today so some breathing space here thank God. I've never ever been anxious in my whole life but I am now. She's finding it hard not being able to see any of us or her non medic friends due to the risk that no matter how careful she is she feels that she is probably inadvertently spreading wherever she goes. She is staying indoors with her ukelele, colouring books and Netflix for company when not at work. She phoned me in tears after going to the supermarket saying people kept coming near her and not keeping 2 meters away. She said she felt like screaming at them "I'm a doctor and I'm probably covered in CV!" to try to get people to get away from her. I know most shops are doing NHS hours but they don't fit with DD's shifts I think one of the supermarkets should set up a delivery service JUST for NHS workers. Sorry for rant and derailing thread.

Dinner for today is cooked chicken breasts. DD and DH will have them with chips and peas and I'll have mine with roast or stir fry veg depending on what our DGS manages to find in Tesco. He's doing a weekly fresh stuff shop for us to leave on the doorstep.

Will have tuna mayo for lunch with some salad.
KOKO everyone and try to squeeze some joy out of the weekend.

Tryingtwo · 28/03/2020 10:43

Good morning all, I typed a post yesterday, got sidetracked and refreshed the page not realising that the post hadn't sent. I'm taking the dgc out for a walk after dinner/before bedtime when it is quiet as I still have this cough (nearly 3 weeks now so not Covid-19 presumably) Ironically I am now doing more exercise than usual as I am also half-heartedly joining in with Joe Wicks PE thing. I was pleased that when we walked up a short but quite steep hill on the way back, I managed it at the same speed and wasn't out of breath, which is a drastic improvement compared to 6 months ago.
Weight is down slightly from Wednesday. Hope you are all well.

Onceuponatimethen · 28/03/2020 10:59

Quick wave to everyone! Will catch up on posts later but just snatching some minutes between dds’ Lego kits that I had in garage for birthdays etc and have now broken into!

Very excited today when dp got on scales! His weight is now only 85.8 kg - I am so proud of him and think he must have lost well over 10 kg since December. He wouldn’t do weighing for a few months as he was worried about what it would show, so we don’t know exactly where he started out weight-wise. He is really determined to keep going so he has agreed to do a low cal veg soup for lunch, rather than the massive lunch he would have had a few months back.

Just makes all the koko worth it when I see what he has achieved.

I’m 79.9 so I’m not losing anything but not gaining either - very happy with that in the circumstances
