cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

I’m really so happy because I was really worried about his health - he has more or less given up drinking since Christmas and just looks so much better

JessJonesJumps · 28/03/2020 11:15

Onceupon that's great news! Well done your DH and you! It sounds as though your perseverance has really paid off.

Thanks for all the iron and pharmacy suggestions. In a stroke of good luck, DH's friend who is a pharmacist was working in the next village along so they dropped the prescription in the drive for me. Our local Facebook page said everyone was getting argumentative and aggressive in the Boots' pharmacy queue so I'm glad we were able to avoid it.
Tesco delivery came today so I'm just about to disinfect it and see what actually turned up.
I think I'm going to have to start meal planning since I don't when we'll get a delivery again.
Oops, almost forgot, down slightly this morning but only back to where I was earlier in the week.
Happy Saturday everyone!

KedsAndTubeSocks · 28/03/2020 12:35

Hello all, I'm still lurking. I'm going to write March off and start again for April. My weight has more or less stayed the same, so it could be worse!
Stay healthy everyone! Xx

Onceuponatimethen · 28/03/2020 20:02

@KedsAndTubeSocks I’m counting myself just staying the same as a win, given the circumstances- so big up to you just for that

Onceuponatimethen · 28/03/2020 20:03

@JessJonesJumps really glad your Tesco delivery turned up - that’s great news. Hope there was some good stuff in it

Thanks for the congrats - still so proud of dp

JessJonesJumps · 28/03/2020 21:53

@Onceuponatimethen it was great! Lots turned up that hadn't turned up last week. Still, no chicken and no mince or beef but more fruit than last week. Plus, in one little bag there was tonic for my gin, a nice candle and some chocolate. Yy I'd ordered it all but I didn't know if any of it would come so it was a nice surprise. It was like a little treat bag! Grin
The funny thing is DS doesn't really like chocolate so we've had all the chocolate from the Christmas selection boxes in a tin in the kitchen since Christmas. But this week, I've made real inroads into the Christmas chocolate!

Onceuponatimethen · 28/03/2020 22:39

That sounds great - it’s amazing how the lock down makes you value little pleasures like that!

Egghead68 · 29/03/2020 07:49

Kudos to anyone losing or maintaining in these circumstances.

I’m making an effort (starting yesterday) not to just eat everything in sight and to make sure I get my 5 a day (as far as possible). That’s about all I can do for now. Too scared to weigh myself!

Be safe and well everyone.

Onceuponatimethen · 29/03/2020 08:15

@Egghead68 that sounds like a good approach. You might find you’ve maintained as you are determined to start keeping an eye on food - I was relieved when I got on the scales!

Breakfast - fruit
lunch - veg soup
Dinner - fish fingers and veg

ploughingthrough · 29/03/2020 11:57

@Egghead68 that sounds like a good strategy for maintenance.
I am still 64.4kg - DH and I ate out last night so I've been really low food today. All this being at home is so hard on the diet - all I want to do is eat.
I want to lose 1 more kilo then happy to maintain but I've realised I've no bloody idea how to maintain...

Tryingtwo · 29/03/2020 12:20

Hello all, quick check in before I brave Tescos. 4 weeks into March, 12st 3.6lbs - down 0.8lbs from last week so 6.8lbs for the month so far and 0.6lbs from target.

cricketmum84 · 29/03/2020 13:52

Ooh you're a braver one than me @Tryingtwo! DH did the lidl shop yesterday alone, I'm so glad I didn't have to face it. Still no bloody loo rolls or fresh fruit and veg though :( I'm so thankful that I had started getting the fruit and veg deliveries before this as their delivery slots are going weeks in advance but the woman who runs it has promised me a weekly slot regardless as I'm a regular customer from when they first started out.

Just had a slice of toast as I slept very late this morning. DD (11) couldn't sleep and had me up talking until 4am, or was it 5am lol clocks going forward confuse me. She's worrying about everything so we are going to have a couple of days of keeping her away from the news and social media.

DH is doing them a roast chicken for dinner. I've got some leeks that are looking very sad so am going to make some sort of leek, broccoli and pasta bake. It will make a couple of portions so I'll be eating it for a couple of days 😂 I also need to slice and freeze my onions and peppers before fresh arrive tomorrow.

Hope everyone is coping well. You all seem to be doing a lot better than me with food choices! I am definitely comfort eating at the moment!

beforeihit30 · 29/03/2020 14:12

Brilliant @Tryingtwo!

Aww @cricketmum84 hope she’s feeling better/calmer, it is so much to take in for anyone and I think we’ll all benefit from less news and social media watching. Its constant availability makes us turn to it so often to see what else may have happened.

Weighed myself today at last, so far this month I’ve lost 5lb! Really pleased as I often feel like it’s not moving but when I look at my weight log on Fitbit I realise it is actually going down. It’s a good thing I do write it down!

JessJonesJumps · 29/03/2020 14:23

Well done Tryingtwo and beforeIhit ! They're amazing losses.
Love to mini cricket Flowers It's such a difficult balance. We have an anxious DS and I realised he was being too blase about washing his hands, etc, because we've been downplaying it so as not to worry him. Yesterday I made him watch a video aimed at DCs explaining the virus. I'm not sure if it's worked or not.
I spent this morning tracking down alternative food delivery eg a local butcher who says they will deliver chicken etc today! I couldn't believe it! Also found another company that does drinks, etc. I'm starting to feel a little happier about our options although the longer it goes on, I guess the more popular they will all become.
Down a teeny fraction today but still not reached a stone.

GetTheStartyParted · 29/03/2020 15:25

Well done @Tryingtwo Star
Hope Tesco wasn't too bad, my local group says it's quiet here today, no queue and plenty of stock apart from pasta and toilet roll.

I've been lucky to be quite unaffected by food shortages so far. Fruit and veg has been hit and miss but we've just adapted so far. Feel very lucky when I see what others are facing.

Well done @beforeIhit30 Star and I hope your DS digests the info but didn't get anxious, sounds like you dealt with it well.

@cricketmum84 I hope your DD is feeling a little brighter today. It's hard to process as an adult so I do feel for them. And although I know you're stretching food out, your meals do sounds tasty Smile

Today's meals:
Breakfast was bacon and cheesy scrambled eggs
Lunch was cheese, chorizo and nuts
Dinner is steak with mushrooms and buttered cabbage.

Tryingtwo · 29/03/2020 18:52

Tesco wasn't bad at all, shelves generally well stocked. Lots of bread, milk, eggs and fruit and veg. Some toilet roll and cleaning products. Soups, pasta aisles were full but limited baked beans/tinned spaghetti. No uht milk. Lots of reminders about social distancing over the tannoy and distance marks on the way in and at the checkouts but it was quiet and I didn't have to queue. My dm reported that Lidl was well stocked yesterday but Aldi was hopeless. Sainsburys was better stocked yesterday than it had been since panic buying began according to dsis.

recklessgran · 29/03/2020 21:16

Evening all. Tuna mayo and cherry tomatoes for lunch. Roast chicken, roasted cauliflower and Brussels for dinner. DH and DD1 also had stuffing, roast potatoes and Yorkshires which I managed to resist. We had a whole family meeting today via Zoom for the first time. It was great to see all the DD's and DGC for the first time since our isolation began. Everyone bearing up so far. Poor DGD2 thought that everyone was at Granny and Grandads house and she was left out. The DD's had to show her round their respective homes to prove that they weren't all at Granny's. Gosh, this is so hard on the children - feeling for all of you with kids at home. It's awful for us but so much worse for them with their world turned upside down and "the fear" added to that. So sorry for all of you having tough times with your little ones.
I sent all mine a reminder yesterday about the clocks going forward and a cheery "oh well, that's one less hour of isolation". Back came the reply " thanks Mum but for the pessimists amongst us the clocks go back again on 25th October ...."
Glad they're still keeping a sense of humour!

MotherOfDragonite · 29/03/2020 22:42

I have to say, @recklessgran, I actually think my two are enjoying it!! We do so much rushing around most of the time that I think they are finding it nice to relax. And I am letting them have cartoons, which they aren't normally allowed! School has been very thorough and good about providing online and paper-based learning materials, and are staying in contact multiple times each day. The weight of it all really falls on the parent more than the child, I think, trying to juggle it all plus work! I am actually enjoying it in a way too, though. Normally we spend more than two hours a day doing the school-nursery-work-school-nursery-home run, so I'm saving time by being at home.

Good news -- I'm back on the wagon, sticking to my WW plan points (green), and it looks as if I will have lost the weight I put on last week. So I am feeling much better again. Still snacking a bit too much, and not exercising at all, but at least I am back in control.

KOKO, lovely losers :-)

recklessgran · 29/03/2020 22:51

@MotherOfDragonite that's good that your little ones are coping as it makes it easier for you too. I'm so pleased that you've managed to get back on the wagon. I'm doing O.K. too and still sticking to the keto way of eating. It's my weigh day tomorrow. I don't think I'll quite make my 5lbs which was my goal for March but I don't think I'll be far off. Under the circumstances I think that's O.K. I'm going downwards and that's all that matters. These are trying times and I do think we need to be kind - to ourselves as well as everyone else.

GetTheStartyParted · 30/03/2020 07:19

My DS is enjoying it too. Missing sports and friends but likes the slower pace and spending time with us.

Well, this weeks loss is 2lbs and that makes my March loss 10lbs Smile

Onceuponatimethen · 30/03/2020 07:25

Wow that’s good @GetTheStartyParted ,a great loss for March! Glad to hear your da is happy

@recklessgran just a quick wave and to say I think that sounds fantastic and not just ok! To manage to lose in this set up is a real achievement

@MotherOfDragonite that’s great news that you are back on the ww and also that the kids are enjoying the lockdown - my dds are too.

Onceuponatimethen · 30/03/2020 07:29

Today I’m going to do the following food:

-breakfast = grapefruit
-lunch = eggs

  • dinner = beef stir fry strips and carrots

We are very low on fresh veg now - will eat the last of it today so I’m really hoping my Ocado actually turns up today. If it doesn’t come we will have to start eating through the store cupboard which won’t be very low cal!!

GetTheStartyParted · 30/03/2020 07:44

Thanks @Onceuponatimethen

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your Ocado delivery! It must be difficult to stick to when you can't get the foods you usually have.

cricketmum84 · 30/03/2020 08:47

Down to 18.3 this morning so I've officially lost the amazing total of one whole pound for this month.

However I have made a vow to myself that I am going to start going to bed earlier and use this time of no office work or commuting to really get back in to running! I won't get far to begin with but will push it a little bit further every day.

Eldest DD is still staying with my parents (long story but she totally lost it last weekend, attacked me and smashed up a few things). She is stressed out as my mum is buying her things like men's joggers and men's deodorant (DD is trans) and she really wants some of her "fem stuff". I'm wondering if it would be ok to throw some stuff in a bag and drop it outside their house?? Or would I be breaking lockdown laws? Technically she is vulnerable due to MH issues and I really think having these things would make a difference to her.

Anyhoo plan for today:
B - satsumas and coffee
L - jackfruit chilli and cauli rice
D - leftover veg and cheese pasta bake

Happy Monday everyone!!
