cricketmum84 · 29/02/2020 12:03

Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)
Target for March: 10lbs so 17st 8lbs

We can do this people!!! Who's with me???

@recklessgran Happy Mother’s Day to you too and all. Great news about the weight slowly going off - I think there is so much determination on this thread!

Have a good day everyone

JessJonesJumps · 22/03/2020 10:40

Thanks for all the get well wishes. And Happy Mother's Day everyone!

I remembered DS always has strepsils in his bag - the school nurse has convinced him they're a magic elixir - so between the strepsils and the lemsips my throat feels a bit better.

If my scales are working (no error messages today but who knows?) then I'm 0.4lbs away from having lost a stone! I guess that's the upside of lying around feeling miserable and having a DH who forgets to eat so doesn't really think of cooking for other people Hmm

cricketmum84 · 22/03/2020 13:44

Happy Mother's Day and happy Sunday!

Feeling a bit sad that I can't visit my mum or nana today :( although I know it's sensible.

Weight STS which is a positive. Although I would really like to see a loss soon! I'm definitely not trying hard enough and keep stress eating. Also way too sedentary.

Plan for today is a portion of lentil chilli with whatever veg needs using up first in the fridge! Also need to rejig the meal plan a little to make sure fresh things are used up before they go off. I have been bought a little box of chocolates from the DC so will be indulging in a small amount this evening.

Hope everyone is healthy and safe!

@recklessgran have you had a look at the more national fruit and veg deliveries? Abel and Cole etc? Our local one is mega busy but I managed to get a confirmed order in for tomorrow and next Monday and am pretty sure I'll need to get in quick for the Monday after!

Afternoon all and Happy Mother's Day. I visited my Mum and just stood outside the porch and handed over her card and present as I have a lousy cold and cough like many on here.
3 weeks into March and I have lost 4.4lbs, my target was 7.4lbs so I don't think I'm going to make it this month.

GetTheStartyParted · 22/03/2020 16:51

Happy Mother's Day everyone! A strange one this year isn't it. Only have my youngest at home as adult DD is at her boyfriends, and eldest DS (he's only 17) is in the army, posted abroad and I have no idea when he will be home. He's been fine since January so was due a break last week. Really missing him. Spent the day playing board games and baking keto brownies. Drove to my mum's and threw her gift over the fence Grin

Diet is going alright, feeling more optimistic about a loss than last week.

We will all celebrate together when it's safe to.
Hope you're all ok.

GetTheStartyParted · 22/03/2020 16:52

Fine = gone Hmm

KedsAndTubeSocks · 22/03/2020 19:27

@JessJonesJumps I've been feeling terrible too, and have found good old-fashioned honey & lemon is really helping, plus some proper Jewish chicken soup! Get well soon!

JessJonesJumps · 22/03/2020 21:24

Sending you get well wishes keds Flowers We have no chicken for chicken soup! I feel like I'm living in one of those re-enactment programmes - I'll be buying spam by the end of the week Grin if preppers haven't already stockpiled it

@GetTheStartyParted it must be hard with DS being away Flowers

I just called my DM. I was hoping for my cough to suddenly disappear so I could at least go and wave outside her window. I have lots of siblings and this is the first year in over 60 years that she hasn't seen anyone on Mother's Day. But she is fiercely independent and refuses to live with any of us even for the next few months (since all of us have a spare room she could self-isolate in). I'm wondering if one of us should just have kidnapped her Smile

beforeihit30 · 22/03/2020 22:21

Hope everyone with a cough is feeling better soon, and hope isolation flies by (assuming in U.K., I don’t know if rules are different elsewhere). We’ve had quite a few isolations because of coughs around us in the area, before the school closed it seemed like half of DCs’ classmates weren’t in.

I used to really like hot honey and lemon for coughs and colds, until I drank too much of it (when pregnant, so couldn’t take usual medications) and ended up with a sore tongue from too much lemon... Confused

Carried on with some garden clearing today and some spraying as well - top time of year for some bugs but got some tips online for how to help manage them. Garden looks weirdly clear now. As I said it’s a very small garden (can’t run around in it for instance) but it’s getting there!

ploughingthrough · 22/03/2020 22:45

Sending all my love to you all in the UK while you take on isolations and school closures. Singapore are still hanging on in there with drastically modified schools open so we're just on our way in. Holding at 64.6kg today and heading to work in my new size 12 skirt and shirt 🎉. I'm only now aiming for 1kg more then I'll be 10 stone exactly and happy to maintain. I don't think I'd look great much slimmer than that as my face gets all bony. My DH, whilst very supportive from the start, is worried that I'll lose boob too 😂.
Good luck on keeping the diets steady through these tough times

JessJonesJumps · 23/03/2020 00:13

@ploughingthrough congratulations on your size 12 and your amazing losses! That's so inspiring Star

Onceuponatimethen · 23/03/2020 07:12

@ploughingthrough that really is great and no wonder you are proud! Hope you are having a good day so far and have a nice end of the afternoon.

Onceuponatimethen · 23/03/2020 07:13

@KedsAndTubeSocks get well soon - your soup sounded delicious

Onceuponatimethen · 23/03/2020 07:14

@Tryingtwo I hope you feel better soon too

Onceuponatimethen · 23/03/2020 07:16

@GetTheStartyParted I bet you are very proud of your ds but I I’m sure it’s hard being apart right now. Thinking of you Flowers

Onceuponatimethen · 23/03/2020 07:23

My update for today - I did around 4 hours cleaning yesterday as I felt the need to keep our little word feeling cosy! We are all having to stay in 14 days self isolation and things everywhere were getting more than a bit sticky and grubby with the kids in 24 hours. I’m hoping all that scrubbing will have shifted some calories Grin

I still have more to do - want to clean all the windows but have to concentrate on the kids school work today that’s been sent home while somehow I have to do while dp and I also work....Hmm

Have a good day everyone!

Having the following food today (at least in theory!):

Breakfast - half slice toast and fruit
Lunch - veg soup
Dinner - lamb and veg (lamb was the last meat we could get and it is nearly at its best before date)

GetTheStartyParted · 23/03/2020 08:16

Thank you everyone, I am proud of him. If only his leave had been slightly earlier, he may have ended up stuck at home with us instead.

Well done @ploughingthrough Star

All of you feeling ill, I hope you all feel well soon too. And good luck to any fellow mums, attempting to home school today!

My loss this leek is 4lbs. I'm so pleased after last week. I'm 1lb off a 2 stone loss overall and have lost 8lbs so far in March.

recklessgran · 23/03/2020 10:19

Morning all. Today is my weigh day.
Last week 12st 12lbs [post holiday weight actually recorded on Tuesday]
Today 12 st 8.25lbs
I'm surprised to have had such a good loss but I know I'm really stressed and probably haven't eaten that much. I'm so worried about DD4 who is on the front line and has CV on her ward but they have no protective gear for the doctors and even ran out of hand gel. She is terrified. I'm praying for her to stay safe and am sending her a kiss in the palm of her hand every day in case she needs it. Silly little thing I used to do when the DD's were little. I would kiss the palm of their hand and then close their fingers over it and tell them "don't worry, there's a kiss for later in case you need it." It got them through any little separation from me that they might have been nervous about e.g going into school / extra curricular test/ friends party etc.
Anyway, enough of my miseries! I'm still completely committed to the weight loss and continue to be inspired by you guys. Some amazing losses and cameraderie here.
@GetTheStartyParted you must be so proud of your DS - I hope he gets home to you asap. Sorry to all those who are feeling poorly and also thinking of all those who are trying to home ed and wfh at the same time - that is REALLY crazy.
I am also having a cleaning frenzy in order to keep myself busy - sparkly skirtings are here at last!
Have as good a day as you can all.

JessJonesJumps · 23/03/2020 12:19

Reckless that's a brilliant loss - well done! Thank your DD4 for us. We owe so much to the medical staff on the front line of this Flowers

I didn't even bother weighing this morning. Wfh and home schooling is going as well as can be expected ie abysmally Confused I was comfort eating mini eggs by twenty minutes in. .

In the end, I sent DC to bed where they promptly fell asleep so they were obviously too tired to concentrate. DH woke up feeling lousy this morning. We're all on different floors and I'm checking on them at intervals. On the plus side, I haven't coughed since yesterday. Smile

Tryingtwo · 23/03/2020 12:36

Good afternoon all, thank you onceuponatimethen. Great losses recklessgran and GetTheStartyParted. Congrats on the size 12 skirt and only being a kg off your goal weight ploughingthrough.
I didn't get to bed until 5.30am as I kept having bouts of coughing every time I tried to lie down, which was unfair to dh so I stayed up. I am prone to coughs/chest infections and this staying awake thing happens nearly every time. However this time, as dh is working from home and dd was told not to go into work due to her cough/cold I didn't need to look after the dgc so was able to stay in bed until 12.00, which was amazing. I weighed myself out of habit and was down 1.4lbs, but as this was about 5 hours after my usual time I am somewhat skeptical but secretly hopeful of the numbers.

Tryingtwo · 23/03/2020 12:43

Also, a hug to recklessgran and her dd4. I teared up a little about the kiss in the palm of your hand and I too am hoping she stays safe and well.

cricketmum84 · 23/03/2020 14:39

Hello my lovelies :) how are we all holding up?

Littlest DDs birthday today. Obviously all our original plans are cancelled but we are doing a nice little pamper afternoon and a nice film and then ordering pizza tonight. Debating whether I get a nice veggie pizza or go for something a bit healthier. Difficult decision in an apocalyptic world where this may be the last takeaway for quite some time!

Really hope it clears up soon @Tryingtwo that doesn't sound good! Well done on the loss though!

Excellent loss @recklessgran! Please thank your DD on behalf of all of us for the amazing work she is doing. Those on the frontline are so brave. And same for your DS @GetTheStartyParted. You should both be so proud (even though you are scared for them).

KOKO everyone, hope all of us with coughs and germs shake them off soon. I'm feeling very inspired by so many of you still doing so well when everything is so stressful. I feel like a little ball of anxiety and really struggling to stay on the straight and narrow.

Ah, Happy Birthday to @Cricketmum84's littlest DD. Bless her, I hope she has a lovely day even though it might not be what she had hoped for in terms of freedom! It sounds as though you've got lovely things lined up for her @Cricketmum84 anyway.
We have moved DD1 in with us and we are now officially locked down. I'm struggling already with the idea of not being able to go out. DD4 not even keen on us going for a walk round our cul-de-sac let alone anywhere else. I understand how terribly anxious she is about us so think I will be selective about what I tell her. I am taking it all very seriously though and have bleached and dettoled everywhere I can. Our outdoor coats are in the washing machine and I've organised the towels so there's no chance of sharing. I'm following instructions! Bit of a turnaround for us as it's usually us leading the girls not the other way round. DH is mowing the back lawn for something to do.
I need to make a food plan of some sort. It shouldn't be too bad - DD1 will eat the same as DH and I will do my own thing as usual. So, pizza, salad and jacket potatoes for them, ham and egg mayo salad for me tonight. They will undoubtably have steamed pudding and custard for dessert. I'll stick with my sugar free jelly and some raspberries. I've already had tuna mayo and some cherry tomatoes for lunch.
Thank you all for your lovely kind messages to me and DD4. I will certainly pass them on.

cricketmum84 · 24/03/2020 11:35

Morning all. I think you lot might be a bit of a lifeline while we are on lockdown!

DD had a lovely birthday thanks, pizza and chocolate cake will always help!

I definitely feel like the meal planning is more about what needs using rather than what is healthiest! I would rather avoid the supermarket wherever possible so just trying to live off what we have got at the moment.

Plan for today is:
L - slice leftover pizza
D - veg chilli on a jacket potato (need to get them used up before they sprout!)

Hope everyone is ok ❤️
