Hello everyone and welcome to the March edition! The plan is to lose 7lbs or 3kg this month!

All are welcome whether you are a regular, newbie, lurker, returning member... all I ask for is the amazing positivity and encouragement I have seen on every thread so far. You guys have been incredible!

I am following ww blue plan and very low carbing. There's a good mix of different methods on here though :)

Previous thread here is anyone wants to look back: Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! The February edition! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3810787-lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month-the-february-edition

My stats are:
Starting weight (Dec 18) 25st 2lbs
Current weight: 18st 4lbs
Loss so far: 6st 12lbs
Loss for Feb: 6lbs (just missed target 😢)

Good morning all, hope everyone is okay. I'm still full of cold and coughing and spluttering but I maintained yesterday's loss.
Glad your dd enjoyed her birthday cricketmum84 but am somewhat bemused at the idea of leftover pizza that is something we have never had in our house Smile

GetTheStartyParted · 24/03/2020 14:21

Good afternoon, belated happy birthday to little cricket Cake

I agree about the myth of leftover pizza though!

Ooo, love jacket potatoes, can't eat them though. Tuna salad was lunch here, have not decided on dinner yet. Just having a cup of tea in peace. It's been another busy day so far.

recklessgran · 24/03/2020 15:15

Afternoon all - I agree @CricketMum84 this thread is definitely a lifeline and a little haven of sanity for me. It's been very quiet here for the last couple of days so I'm hoping that it's because everyone's busy adjusting to the new normal. Thoughts with all those who are unwell at the moment.
Back later when I've worked out some kind of food plan.

Onceuponatimethen · 24/03/2020 15:39

Same with meal planning as you guys - keeping my veg soups back so sometimes end up with something random. My low cal effort is now mostly about portion size!!

Breakfast- grapefruit
Lunch - eggs and half slice bread plus carrot sticks
Dinner - cold lamb (left overs) and broccoli

MotherOfDragonite · 24/03/2020 17:41

I'm doing really badly. Emotionally and practically! Got really stressed about the prospect of being all by myself with the children for possibly months and months (my main babysitter is 70 and my main support is my mum who is in her mid 70s and has lung problems and is now very sensibly self-isolating). Anyway, I've fallen badly back into my old ways of over eating and eating things that aren't good for me.

Not sure what I want to do. I will weigh in tomorrow to assess the damage and decide if I want to just maintain for a while, or go back to trying to lose weight.

Onceuponatimethen · 24/03/2020 19:12

@MotherOfDragonite sending some koko vibes to you at this really tough time. You have a lot on your plate and I’m guessing the old advice of fitting your own oxygen mask first is probably going to be especially important. Whatever you need to get through this will be the right thing to do

Onesmallstep67 · 24/03/2020 19:36

@MotherOfDragonite, I am not doing terribly well either and after 11 months of persevering with a weight loss plan I have been derailed. I assumed most of my bad eating habits had been conquered. I haven't been posting because I really haven't been trying , let alone succeeding in any weight loss.
But sometimes other things take over or get in the way. And we are in a deeply difficult and unprecedented period in our lifetime.
I fully intend to emerge out of this with a renewed determination ( to lose weight ). But in the meantime my energy and focus is elsewhere. Flowers

Onceuponatimethen · 24/03/2020 19:48

Well said @Onesmallstep67 what matters is just getting through this.

Egghead68 · 24/03/2020 19:56

Happy birthday mini cricket and solidarity with everyone getting derailed. I think we need to cut ourselves a lot of slack.

JessJonesJumps · 24/03/2020 20:29

Honestly, today I am eating whatever is easy to cook or doesn't need cooking which so far has meant hot dogs and chocolate. I have no energy at all. And DS keeps hovering 6ft away telling me how awful I look.
One of my old friends from where I grew up was rushed into hospital and diagnosed at the weekend. It's made it all a bit closer and real.

Egghead68 · 24/03/2020 21:05

Today was Tesco delivery day and I am under the weather (dread to think what with) so I have eaten chocolate (lots) cheese, crackers and wine. Wishing your friend better @JessJonesJumps.

JessJonesJumps · 24/03/2020 21:08

Thanks Egghead I hope you feel better too. Cheese, crackers and wine sounds lovely. That might be my meal planning for tomorrow Smile

SconNotScone · 24/03/2020 21:31

I disappeared off the thread for a while. As soon as the initial social distancing measures were announced 2 weeks ago, and I stopped going to the gym, it hasn't been going great! I have completely lost motivation to exercise at home, and have been wanting to eat all the sweet stuff! Last Friday I stayed the same, which wasn't too bad (10st 7, just a tad over).

Today I have tried to get back to it and eat well, but no exercise for me. My husband is working from home, I am lucky enough that I am at home in order to do schooling with my daughter (6). I work in a boarding school, we shut a week early, Easter break was due to start this coming Friday for 3 weeks, so I don't need to worry about childcare for at least the next 4 weeks. But there is a chance we will need to go back in some capacity (if allowed!) after the Easter break. Will cross that bridge when it comes! Anyway, I would normally weigh at work on a Friday morning, I have no scales at home, so I'm not going to be able to weigh for at least a month! Which could be amazing if I stick to the diet and exercise, or could leave me with a nasty surprise!

Good luck everyone, be kind to yourselves, I hope those of you that are ill or have ill family members are on the mend soon, and that everyone else keeps well.

lboogy · 25/03/2020 00:48

Happy birthday little cricket.

After a good day of eating and exercise I woke up thinking about work. I've just scoffed a 103g bag of giant milky bar buttons.
Tomorrow / today is another day I guess

cricketmum84 · 25/03/2020 08:18

Morning all!

Little cricket says thank you for the birthday wishes ❤️

@Tryingtwo we ordered 3 pizzas and I can only manage 2 slices at a time or I start to feel a bit sick 😂 we wouldn't normally order that much lol but I was worried all the takeaways might close!!

@MotherOfDragonite at least you know that you and the kids are safe long as we follow the lockdown rules. How old are yours? Are they going stir crazy yet? Don't put too much pressure on yourself for weight loss. I think we are all under enough stress and pressure as it is!

Well said @Onesmallstep67. I think you have got it spot on.

@JessJonesJumps sending get well wishes to your friend.

@SconNotScone I don't think I could cope with not weighing for a month! Lovely to see you back ❤️

Right plan for today:
L - last slice of leftover pizza
D - mushroom stroganoff and rice

Trying not to snack out of boredom!

Much love!

Morning all. I'm still losing weight but that's got nothing to do with the diet I'm afraid but everything to do with DD4's tearful phone calls. I think we all just have to be kind - to ourselves as well as everyone else. Lets all just stay here, do our best and take any losses as a bonus for now.
DD1 is like a ray of sunshine - she's a cheery soul and very good housemate I must say. DH is trying to keep busy in the garden - lots of weeding to do.
From my point of view, work is pretty dead now so I'm going to try to do some proper spring cleaning and tidying out. Thinking of all of you with children at home - I can imagine how hard it is. Feeling fortunate here by comparison.
Hope everyone is well and has as good a day as possible.

Onceuponatimethen · 25/03/2020 11:34

@recklessgran sorry to hear about dd4 and thinking of you Flowers

@cricketmum84 I’m glad your mini person had a lovely birthday! Could really fancy some of your mushroom stroganoff.

Dp and I had a big talk about weight stuff this morning. He really doesn’t want to completely stop, as he’s come so far so I will keep going too to support him. We won’t be putting any pressure on ourselves though and will accept the limitations around the food situation

Breakfast today - small bowl yoghurt and fruit
Lunch - veg soup
Dinner - fish and veg

Tryingtwo · 25/03/2020 12:48

Afternoon all, just a quick check in as today is my weigh in. Down to 12st 4.4lbs, a 6lb loss for March so far. I had an unexpected whoosh on Monday which has helped.

JessJonesJumps · 25/03/2020 14:35

@recklessgran unMNy hugs for you and DD4 Flowers

My weight is up this morning but since I ate nearly an entire large bar of chocolate yesterday, I'm not surprised.

Home-made broccoli and cauliflower soup for lunch; either risotto or pasta for dinner.

beforeihit30 · 25/03/2020 15:34

Hi @SconNotScone I think it’s great to keep going regardless of having a scale! Do you have a tape measure? Measurement changes are slower/more subtle sometimes but they can be really encouraging (and sometimes change a lot even when weight changes less). If you can do exercise at home, I recommend the Fitness Blender videos. Lots of different capability levels catered for and lots of no equipment required videos too. And no shouting/dance music etc which is a plus for me Grin

Congrats @Tryingtwo! Star

Haven’t weighed myself for a few days but so far so good. Not weighing myself at least until the weekend as I’m ovulating, and I always fluctuate then. I get super hungry for 2-3 days (I’m currently on day 2 so we’ll see if that sticks around tomorrow!), I don’t go to junk thankfully since I went keto but I do just eat more of my usual food (which, being high fat, could be quite the increase in calories!). However I’ve done this for years now and it hasn’t halted weight loss in the long run, just means I avoid the scales for a few days!

KOKO Smile

SconNotScone · 25/03/2020 17:07

@beforeIhit30 I do have a tape measure, but to be honest, I think it's not going to show massive changes now! I had about 2 stone to lose, and I've lost just under 1.5 stone already, so I'm pretty close to my goal weight. I might do some measurements just out of interest though!

Previously I have quite enjoyed fitness videos on youtube - Fitness Blender, Pop Sugar, etc, I just don't seem to be feeling it at the mo! Having said that, I did Joe Wicks PE with my daughter this morning, and then did 30 mins on my husband's static bike, so I feel like I have got back in control a bit more. Plus the eating has been better over the past couple of days (probably because we only have bare essentials at the mo!!). Good luck to you for a decent loss this weekend!

MotherOfDragonite · 25/03/2020 22:20

Ok, so, when I weighed in this morning I had put back on 2.5lb :-(

But in better news, I stayed on track today. I'm really, really going to try to stay on track as much as I can.

It's going to be very difficult over the coming months, both because of the availability of food and also being in a situation where I feel stressed and anxious. @cricketmum84, I think you asked how old my littles were -- they're 2.5 and 6.5. We're in a one bedroom flat with no outdoor space, and we're also self-isolating completely (eg no going out) as we want to be safe to go and visit my mum if there is an opportunity. Maybe we will stay a few weeks with her! I am holding on to that possibility!

Finding it really hard to order groceries, and unsure of how I will manage to get fresh food. Luckily though I have some tinned veg and we drink oat milk and have a good stash as it doesn't have to be refrigerated so I buy in bulk. But I do rely on the fresh food for my diet, so I'm worried about its availablity.

recklessgran · 26/03/2020 00:11

@MotherofDragonite have you heard about the Morrisons food boxes? That might be an option for you if you're worried about how to get food. I think they're struggling at the moment but it might be worth keeping an eye on them as they're trying to do more. I believe they are next day delivery by DPD.
www.morrisons.com/food-boxes/boxes

SconNotScone · 26/03/2020 08:20

@MotherOfDragonite do you use Facebook? In my local area (a small village) there are a ton of places offering delivery of fresh fruit/veg, meat, bread/milk/eggs/essentials, all boxed up. Two local pubs are offering delivery of these, plus a few restaurants in the closest town, as well as a couple of companies that would normally supply the catering trades. Two butchers in nearby towns have also offered delivery of their products. I had a meat box and a fruit/veg box delivered yesterday, and both seem good quality. Alternatively, do you have any friends/family close by who would be willing to add some items on to their weekly shop for you, and drop on your doorstep? Again, with Facebook, there are local pages round here where people are able to request support with shopping, etc, and the responses all seem really helpful and positive.

I appreciate all of this relies upon the availability of services, friends, access to Facebook, etc, so I’m sorry if none of this is helpful. I do feel for you being inside with two little ones. I saw a suggestion from someone about putting the littlest in an empty bath with a few pots of water that’s been coloured with food dye, a pot of glitter, etc. Messy, but could keep them occupied enough to do something with the older one (in sight of the little one of course!). Good luck!

cricketmum84 · 26/03/2020 08:29

That must be hard @MotherOfDragonite. Not sure I would cope on my own with 2 of that age. We have a few local farm shops, greengrocers and butchers who are offering delivery - definitely have a look online for them. Also make the most of being able to get out once a day for exercise. I missed a few days but I felt like it made such a difference yesterday to get out in the sunshine for a bit.

My plan for today:
B - crumpet
L - mushroom omelette
D - LM sausage, butternut squash chips and griddled pak choy

Hope all are safe and healthy ❤️
