Hello lovely losers!

Welcome to the January edition of "lose 7lbs or 3kgs a month" link to previous thread is here

Lose 7lbs/3kgs a month! The December instalment! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3756861-lose-7lbs-3kgs-a-month-the-december-instalment

All are welcome here, oldies, newbies, lurkers and watchers. There is a huge range of starting weights and weight loss methods.

All I ask for is the same positivity and support that we have seen on every thread so far.

My stats are:
Starting weight: 18.13
Jan target: 18.6
Loss for December: maintained
Loss so far: 6 stone 5lbs

I'll be following 16:8 and WW purple plan.

Let's get ready to smash January! (As soon as the cheese and trifles have gone 😂)

Happy new year and massive congratulations to those who've lost or maintained in December.

I was doing quite well until Christmas happened. My low for December was 195.8lbs, but put on a few since, so loss for December is a paltry 0.6 lbs.
So, on to January:
Starting weight 198.4 lbs
Target for January: 191 lbs.
Total loss since starting last August: 24 lbs

Good luck, all.

Onesmallstep67 · 01/01/2020 09:44

Morning everyone and happy new year. Let's hope it's a good one!
My weight loss started in April '19 and since then I have lost 3st 4lbs. I'm currently 15st 11lbs. No loss in December but after the amount of food and alcohol I have consumed it comes as no surprise. Happy to say no gain either which is a definite bonus.
To the new joiners I can heartily recommend sticking with us, some of the regular posters on here are full of great advice and have lots of clever diet tips and information.
I don't follow any specific diet or regime. I lost the weight simply by cutting down and being much more aware of what I was eating. I think I will struggle a little to get back on the wagon having had very little willpower throughout December - although the fundamentals have become quite ingrained and for the most part my diet doesn't feel like a diet but just more a way of eating.
Good luck everyone. My initial target is to be under 15st by my birthday on March 1st Hmm

QueenOfOversharing · 01/01/2020 09:45

I did it. I braved the scales. Did it in Kg & am refusing to check it in stones & lbs (please nobody tell me!!!!)

Starting weight (1/1/20): 104.5Kg
Goal weight: 10 stone
January goal: 100Kg

Is that reasonable??!

I've got a huge bag of Buttermist toffee popcorn here, that I was eyeing up for breakfast! That's scuppered that plan. Forgot I was fasting, and I've had coffee with milk. So I'll do a longer window today.

Feel a bit teary! Plus was woken in the night by what I suspect to be recurrence of pericarditis (had it twice).

Ok, big girl pants on.

Rshard · 01/01/2020 10:05

Happy New Year everyone, a newbie to this thread - it’s seems really welcoming and helpful, so thanks!

I’m a lapsed follower of low carb, high fat and did really well in 2017/18, less so in 2019 - but that’s done now and 2020 is a new start!

Start 01/01 - 12,4
Goal 31/01 - 11,10

Good luck Avery one!

Rshard · 01/01/2020 10:05

*everyone

7Worfs · 01/01/2020 10:07

Don’t beat yourself up, Queen, we all slip up from time to time. Dust yourself off and carry on Xmas Smile

I think a few posters use apps for the fasting, maybe that could help you?
I am using Happy Scales to log my weight daily, it made me a bit competitive and definitely helped with reining in unnecessary eating.

Ihatesundays · 01/01/2020 10:10

I drank too much last night, ate too much cheese! I’ve had breakfast to make myself feel better...
Starting WW tomorrow properly Crown Blush

StayClassySally · 01/01/2020 10:23

Hello, I'd like to join please. I have really let myself go.

Current stats:
Weight 13.8st/86.2kg
Height 5.5/1.66m
BMI 31.3
Body fat 38%
Body fat mass 32.7kg

I am determined to lose weight, gain fitness and be happy with myself.

cricketmum84 · 01/01/2020 10:30

Morning all, happy new year and welcome to Day 1!!

Very happy to report that I'm a pound down already! I get the feeling this is going to be a good month.

Back to tracking properly with ww today. Unusually for me I haven't planned food for me today although DH is making a turkey pie for him and the kids. I treated myself to a few vegan cookbooks from the works which arrived yesterday so going to have a flick through them for some inspiration :)

A very warm welcome to all the new joiners since yesterday! I can't keep up lol!

Well done queen for braving the scales. I know how much you were dreading it.

Thank you for whispering @Egghead68 my prosecco head just can't take it this morning 😂

Right let's get January smashed!!!

Hi, please can I join too. Just logged onto my fitness pal and I'm a stone up from last jan when I started because I was fat!
Previously lost 3.5 stone on sw but just couldn't get the maintain bit so kept dropping under target range and felt more judged than when I was overweight so stopped going.
2020 for me means new job (start on 6th)
Restructure of work/ home (sen ds so moving up a couple of levels and moving work place has additional considerations)
AND naked sauna in May with my daughters partners mum! Another culture where weight is judged and sauna has to be naked! If that's not a motivator what is!!!!
About 3.5 ish stone to lose (not before May!)

Somesortofzilla · 01/01/2020 10:36

Morning all!

Checking in and ready to go, got the scales back up and working, turns out I was being VERY generous with my estimate, so I'll up date my stats. The shame!

Starting weight: 102.1kg
January goal: 99kg
Total loss: 0kg

This time next year I'll have a loss worth remembering! I'm tired of feeling out of breath just going upstairs. Baby steps, long term changes.

Happy new year everyone!

recklessgran · 01/01/2020 10:41

@QueenOfOversharing I'm new here too and understand exactly how you feel [I've read your other thread.] Just wanted to offer another handhold as I'm disgusted with myself too but have been lurking on this thread for a few days before I was brave enough to out myself.
I'm sure there's a lot of friendly support here so I'm expecting great things of myself with the help of this thread. Baby steps and all that.
So far so good. I'm trying low carb as I have a massive bread baby and it needs to go!

NerrSnerr · 01/01/2020 10:42

Hello. I'd love to join too please. Have been yo-yo dieting the last couple of years and managed to end the year the heaviest I have ever been. I will be getting back to exercise and counting calories and I ultimately want to lose 3 stone.

Start weight 1/1/20- 11s 12
Goal weight 30/1/20- 11s 6

QueenOfOversharing · 01/01/2020 10:53

Thank you @7Worfs - I'm going to look at Happy Scales now!

@recklessgran thank you! Glad you're posting here too - I definitely think having the support here will be invaluable. Handhold back!

We're taking action. That's a great baby step!

Bye bread baby!!

beforeIhit30 · 01/01/2020 11:19

@tibni naked sauna?! Shock

CalmConfident · 01/01/2020 11:25

Going to weigh in tomorrow, register the December news and get started. This thread was a real motivator in 2019 Wink

tibni · 01/01/2020 11:26

@beforehit30 I know!!!! Apparently it's offensive not to and all the females go in together then jump in the lake (which is a whole other issue as I'm frightened of water!)
If naked sauna can't keep me motivated nothing will!

cricketmum84 · 01/01/2020 11:32

@tibni imagine if you walked in the sauna naked and they were all in swimwear and it was all a joke.....

Sorry I have a cruel imagination 😂

Lindy2 · 01/01/2020 11:33

Can I join in please.

I'm 11 stone 13lb. I should really be about 10 stone 7lb.

I've just had my 49th birthday and I want to be slimmer and healthier before I hit age 50.

The way I've lost weight previously is calorie counting using my fitness pal, so I've just signed up again today. I'm also encouraged my DH to sign up with me.

Good luck everyone.

beforeIhit30 · 01/01/2020 11:36

@cricketmum84 that had me laughing Grin

Well good luck @tibni!

LarryUnderwood · 01/01/2020 11:51

Joining today, happy new year everyone! I've decided to just plain old calorie count. Used the James smith academy to calculate my target daily allowance and protein goal. And will be targeting loss one pound at a time rather than overwhelming myself with a large target. I have years of form of trying atkins/keto/intermittent fasting/weight watchers and never sticking. So this is a new and hopefully more straightforward approach.

Start weight 11st 2
Target calories 1568
Target protein 106g
1st target loss - 1lb

Aiming to run 2-3 x per week and do weights/boxing 2 x per week.

KnucklesMcGinty · 01/01/2020 12:23

Start weight - 77 kg
Target weight 31/01 - 74kg
Waist 87 cm
Target waist ?84cm

Method 18:6 & training or running every day - when the DC are back at school!

WoollyFoolly · 01/01/2020 12:52

Good start today, no breakfast and delicious hot sour miso soup loaded with green vegetables and kimchi for lunch. Plan is to eat up loads of cheese for tea! 😆

Tryingtwo · 01/01/2020 12:59

Down 0.4lb from yesterday so as my official weigh in day is Wednesday, I will count 14st 1.4 lbs as my weight for the start of the decade.
A person on a different thread said her goal was 52lbs for the year. A lb per week over a year sounds good and as I know I will plateau soon and my current loss of 2lbs per week will slow I worked out targets which will hopefully keep me on track. Splitting the year into 4 x 13wks ( and rounding down to 14st 1 lb ) :

1st April: 13st 2lbs
1st July: 12st 3 lbs (which moves me from obese to overweight)
30th September: 11st 4lbs
30th December: 10st 5lbs (still 2lbs into overweight ffs)

cricketmum84 · 01/01/2020 13:14

Ooh I like mini goals @Tryingtwo that's a fab idea!! Going by my monthly target of 7lbs my mini targets should be:

Start 18.13
End March 17.6
End June 15.13
End Sept 14.6
End Dec 12.13 which is my final target!

That would give me a 12.5 stone loss in total. Which sounds like an absolute mountain to climb but I've already lost half that in 12 months so surely I can do it again.

It looks really doable broken down like that!
