Hello lovely losers!

Welcome to the January edition of "lose 7lbs or 3kgs a month" link to previous thread is here

All are welcome here, oldies, newbies, lurkers and watchers. There is a huge range of starting weights and weight loss methods.

All I ask for is the same positivity and support that we have seen on every thread so far.

My stats are:
Starting weight: 18.13
Jan target: 18.6
Loss for December: maintained
Loss so far: 6 stone 5lbs

I'll be following 16:8 and WW purple plan.

Let's get ready to smash January! (As soon as the cheese and trifles have gone 😂)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.

Queen, I started off in shock at a MMC at 12 weeks, in April, and the first week, whilst waiting for surgery, I think I only ate soup and toast. 111kg as I went in for surgery.
After the surgery, I felt so lost, that I didn't really have the heart to cook convoluted food, so as a family we ate simply for a couple of weeks. I had no snacks, biscuits and didn't start drinking alcohol again.
After I physically started to feel recovered, I realised my trousers were loose, and I'd lost 5kg in about a month.
Since then (mid May) I found one of Cricket's threads, and joined in. I wanted to have something positive to come out of the MMC. I used low carb, with good results until I became pregnant again in June. Then, I switched to walking everyday, portion control and at least half the plate bring filled with veg.

Sadly, at the end of July, I had another missed miscarriage, followed by more surgery. I've carried on with no alcohol (am vegetarian anyway), limited snacks and usually soup for lunch.
November, got a BFP, then mid December had a big bleed and thought it was all over again. 4 scans and one subchorronic haematoma later, and I'm 10 weeks!

For once, anxiety has put me off fatty snacks and chocolate, and I've been using the cash I've saved for new clothes. I've dropped 2 sizes on my top and 3 sizes on my bottoms, down from a 22 and a 24. The NSV and support from here has helped when I've felt tempted.

Sorry that was so long!

Crochetnanigans · 02/01/2020 20:27

Evening all. Decent enough day today. About to have tea and have approx 600 calories left.

Went for a lunchtime walk at work then to the gym for 45 mins after work. Knees are screaming 😳

Egghead68 · 02/01/2020 20:51

Going to attempt to post starting and current pictures.
Bottom one was taken after 5 weeks dieting, others today. Getting there slowly but still got a tummy.

Newbie Alert! Completely inspired by your weight loss stories. I always start the year with a diet plan but never move past a 7lbs loss before everything goes awry. You might all keep me motivated and accountable!

Stats:

Start weight - 10st 13lbs
End of Jan goal - 10st 6lbs
End target- 9st 7lbs

Plan is to stop snacking, cut out all the sweet stuff and eat smaller portions. Cutting out all carbs turns me into a crazed sugar addict so I will moderate rather than eliminate. I exercise a lot, which makes me ravenous but I will try offset by drinking more water.

What are your recommendations on weighing, daily, weekly or monthly?

Egghead68 · 02/01/2020 20:56

I weigh daily but I think some people weigh weekly.

Ihatesundays · 02/01/2020 21:15

I weigh daily. My weight fluctuates a lot so I only record the lowest weight (whenever it comes).

I’ve started a 5 day fitness challenge. Day 1 done. My legs are jelly!
New exercise bike arrives next week to replace my really old one, it has lots of programmes and you can connect it to apps to do workouts. Hopefully this will shrink my legs (my problem area) as I need to tone my inner thighs.

QueenOfOversharing · 02/01/2020 21:17

@Vebrithien I'm so sorry hearing what you've been through, but in such awe of you moving forward so incredibly. Your weight loss is so inspiring. Hope your pregnancy progresses brilliantly! And looking forward to your updates.

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2020 21:29

@Vebrithien that is absolutely wonderful news! I'm so so pleased for you. You stay in my thoughts and I will keep everything crossed that the positive news continues! You're almost to second trimester!

Welcome to all the new joiners from today. The thread has moved so fast! I'm going to scroll back through and catch up properly as it's been a bit of a busy day here.

Done good though, was on the move at lunchtime so had a pack of watermelon and then a few strawberries from DDs fruit pack. DSis had served up pizzas and wedges and wine... the benefits of veganuary means I couldn't have any of them and also was driving! Added a little avocado to my bean chilli and brown rice but I had loads of points left so still under for the day. Having a gin and wondering if I fancy 2 chocolates.

God I'm craving one of these fake steak bakes though!!

Just caught up with your wonderful news @Vebrithien. So pleased for you!

Egghead68 · 02/01/2020 21:51

@cricketmum84 I thought of you when I saw Greggs had launched a vegan steak bake!

7Worfs · 02/01/2020 22:00

eggy you look great! In today’s shots your body looks so young, you’ve shed years as well as kg.
@beforeIhit30 Where I’m from, we stuff sweet green peppers (the pale ones) with feta cheese and tomato slices, it’s a summer staple is Southern Europe.

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2020 22:22

Haha @Egghead68 :)

Unfortunately all the new vegan offerings do not fit in very well to dieting!!

Greggs fake steak bake
Kfc fake chicken burger
Pizza Hut pepperoni pizza
Subway meat free meatball marinara
McDonald's veggie dippers

Help!!

Hi. Can I join please? I'm 6 months into my new way of life not diet! and had 2 days off at Xmas and 2 more at NY plus a week of "maintenance" calories. I need some accountability to make sure this isnt the start of a slippery slope. This is the 5th time I've lost a lot of weight in my life and I need it to be the last time!

Starting weight: 16 stone 12 pounds (June 19)
Current weight: 12 stone 3 pounds
(Was 11 stone 12 pounds before Xmas!)
End Jan target: 11 stone 10 pounds
Ultimate goal: 10 stone 1 pound ideally by end-April

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2020 23:06

@Piixxiiee sorry I don't know anything about thyroid or keto. Was just going to say if evening crisps and chocolates are an issue then prep some healthy evening snacks instead. I like apple slices dipped in yoghurt, nuts, carrot sticks and before veganuary sliced hard boiled eggs. Although these are daytime snacks as I do 16:8

@WoollyFoolly you look amazing!!!

@Cream123 I've thrown the rest of the mince pies!

@Fizzypoo welcome :) and brave doing dry jan... it's a loooooooong month 😂

@KnucklesMcGinty I don't drink tea or coffee anymore - just green tea with a slice of fresh lemon. However I do like a gin and slim on an evening and alcohol breaks the fast so I'm not as strict in that sense.

Hi @sophieg345 and welcome! While that seems a lot to lose we find it so much easier to split it up into smaller goals. I've lost 89lbs in a year with another 80ish to go in the next 12 months. Slow and steady 7lbs a month is doable. We got this!!

@JessJonesJumps welcome :) personally I prefer ww. I didn't like the emphasis of big portions on sw and constantly felt like I was overeating. Happy to give any advice on ww though, I think there's a few of us following it on here now.

Hey @BloodyCats love the username!! Pretty much all I have said since the tree went up!! Bloody Cat!!!

Hugs @QueenOfOversharing depression is a bitch and has such an effect on eating patterns. Can you get out for a walk in the morning? Obviously not at this time of night... but a good long walk can get Thor endorphins flowing

@Egghead68 you look fab! Amazing body shape

@HRHPrincessMegan welcome :) I'm usually a daily weigher as I find it keeps me on track.

Think I'm all caught up now :)

@cricketmum84 thankyou great idea as I dont seem to be able to have nothing - dont know how people doing fasting 🤔

sazzle27 · 03/01/2020 00:17

It shipped a few months on these threads. A mixture of moving house and fed up of seeing the scales go up!

However.

We are now settled. We have facilities for cooking food. I am at breaking point in terms of clothes not fitting but not wanting to buy a new wardrobe.

I disagree with resolutions as a general thing.. mostly because you should aim to do what you want all year, not just because it's the first of January.. however it does provide a good start point and a date to set in stone.
So here i am again, ready to lose that weight!

Stsrt weight: 96.2 kg

(Bonus being that DP wants to lose weight as well so now there's two of us doing it rather than just me. We have both joined the gym, and even though he is bitching complaining loudly about the hassle of weighing food.. he appears to be totally on board)

sazzle27 · 03/01/2020 00:18

I skipoed**

Darn autocorrect

beforeIhit30 · 03/01/2020 01:12

Ooh feta @7Worfs that’s a tasty idea! The crispness of the pepper just worked so well, and very quick to make, so I think this will become a regular one for me.

I also saw courgette ‘boats’, honestly I must just be a child really, that also caught my attention Grin

cricketmum84 · 03/01/2020 01:17

@beforeIhit30 I absolutely love things that you would normall our in a flour tortilla in crunchy little gem leaves instead. The texture is amazing and you save loads of calories or points by not having the tortillas.

Amazing with chilli or pulled jackfruit!

Hello everyone!

My part of NSW is safe from fires at the moment, we’re grateful for that. We have a haze of smoke in the sky. Reading our news each day is very sobering. We’re keeping busy for the sake of the kids, they’re too young to really understand it all. Tomorrow is going to be a bad day for the fires due to the weather. It’s heartening that lots of people from the uk have been following the news from here.

I have found a lot of support here for the last few months. Honestly I would have given up ages ago without the camaraderie here.

DownUdderer · 03/01/2020 03:16

@Egghead68 amazing photos! You’re looking fab!

DownUdderer · 03/01/2020 03:19

@WoollyFoolly the photo shows how many inches you’ve dropped! I think you will feel good letting go of your old clothes now they are too big. Can you eBay them if they’re nice dresses etc? I’ve been happy with some new clothes in the sales.

Egghead68 · 03/01/2020 05:26

Morning. 65.0kg.

Thanks so much for all your kind words. My motivation is really flagging at the moment and they have given me a boost.

So much temptation @cricketmum84! It’s great that vegans are being catered for so well though.

Stay safe @DownUdderer. The news is so concerning.

beforeIhit30 · 03/01/2020 06:20

Ooh yes @cricketmum84 little gem! It’s surprising really how good swapping out the usual versions (buns, tortillas) can be with veggies, it can taste much better IMO.

Not sure what to have for breakfast today but think it will involve yoghurt and some flaked almonds! Should have soaked some chia last night but can do a quick 20min soak this morning. Got loads of strawberries as DC1 wanted to buy a big box in the store yesterday and I went along with it as it was reduced (and pleased he was making some good choices and not asking for sweets!).

beforeIhit30 · 03/01/2020 06:22

@DownUdderer we have just been looking at aerial footage, it really is so concerning Flowers wishing you and your family very well.
