Morning all! And welcome to the December edition of lose 7lbs!

A huge to welcome to the newbies, long term followers and contributors and the lurkers!

I would dearly love to lose 7lbs in December but accepting that I'm probably going to relax things a little, have some chocolate or some cheese, mulled wine and stollen.

I will still be following ww and 16:8 most days. I'm also going to try stay mostly vegan with the exception of local eggs which I think should help me stay on track!

Stats are:
Dec starting weight: 18.13
Dec target weigh: 18.7
Loss for November: 3lbs
Loss for 2019: 6stone 5lbs

Happy December to all and let's get our festive groove on!

I might be up a pound. I’m ignoring it though! I’m going to aim for better food today. I know when DH goes back to work I’ll get a bit more focused. I’m not drinking at all at the moment so I won’t be drinking tonight.

Egghead68 · 31/12/2019 06:45

65.6kg (back to pre-Christmas weight). See you all on the January thread!

Katinka2 · 31/12/2019 06:58

Hi @queenofoversharing.

I’m doing 16:8 and for me it’s really helping me mentally track how I eat and feeling if I am hungry really or I’m wanting to eat for emotional reasons!

I eat from 11am-7pm. The stop at 7pm really helps me not eat that extra piece of toast or shortbread biscuit when DH makes a cup of tea and that is what he eats. I ride it out knowing it does make a difference as all the little extras do add up with me.

I’m eating more healthy, choosing whole meal alternatives for bread, pasta etc filling up with lots of veg with evening meal and drinking lots and lots of water.

I’ve a lot to lose for me 4 stone and it is overwhelming so I’ve broken it into weekly chunks of 2-3lbs a week minimum, which at first seemed like I would never make any headroad but when first half stone came off it clicked that it worked, if you see what I mean.

I’m definitely an emotional eater, peri menopausal!!! Which is playing havoc with my worries and anxiety and adds to my emotional eating. I’m just waking up to realising that I’ve got to deal with why I want to overeat and snack to help me to keep going. I’m going to be more stressed if I don’t lose weight so I’m really motivated to crack it for 2020.

My life needs turning around for the better and I want to be healthier for me, my family and try to find a happier me about myself.

I also meal plan for the week which has helped what I have in house food wise and cut down on food shopping bill.

Good luck, it is hard when you take the plunge I think. I’ve found posting on here makes me accountable to myself and there are great tips that other people post, so many things resonate with me.

Not happy. Just weighed and I’m back up again (+3) to post Christmas weight. Had a low cal day yesterday (1200) and a big walk. It’s so annoying to gain so quickly with just a few days. I haven’t even gone mad. Feeling disheartened but I’m not giving in as I was 1lb off my target before Christmas Angry

Egghead68 · 31/12/2019 08:51

@lilgreen it's probably just the weight of the food inside you, not genuine weight gain (you would have had to be eating an extra 10,500 calories in the last few days to gain 3lb of fat). Hopefully you will be back to normal tomorrow.

I seem to be on the trifle diet here - sticky toffee pudding trifle at every meal (including breakfast) till it has been eaten up. Getting a little sick of it now...

lilgreen · 31/12/2019 09:02

Thanks @egghead I really hope so. I’m also waiting for my period which is a bit hit and miss anyway (I’m 48) so that could be a water factor.

WoollyFoolly · 31/12/2019 09:30

@Egghead68 just throw the trifle away! Food is wasted just as much if you eat it when you don't want it as if you bin it.

Weighing in at 12.0 again this morning, so technically down 3lbs in December although in reality I've been bobbing up and down around this weight for 2 months now.
Been thinking a lot about plans for the new year, not just weight related but all sorts.

Egghead68 · 31/12/2019 10:07

@Woollyfoolly I know I should but it cost £14 and the cheapskate in me is resisting (plus I really hate chucking out food, it tastes pretty good and I am still losing weight while eating it). I probably will end up throwing out the last bit though.

Technically down 3lb in December sounds good.

I've been looking into dance classes for the new year and need to plan some holidays and trips.

cricketmum84 · 31/12/2019 10:12

Last day of December!! And the last day of eating bad food for me lol. Veganuary starts tomorrow and I am excited! Haven't managed to use up all the Christmas cheese but I know a teenager who will definitely help with that!

Still 18.13 today so the maintain for December has worked. We ordered from a gorgeous Indian restaurant last night, pea and paneer Balti with lemon rice. It was gorgeous until I popped an entire chilli in my mouth thinking it was a green bean and almost died. We are talking tears and everything. Had to drink about a litre of milk to make my mouth feel normal again and then couldn't eat anymore. 'D'H just laughed at me.

Plan for today is plenty of water this AM. Probably more than usual as will be cracking open the prosecco tonight. Lunch is the last bit of mushroom pate on crusty bread. DH is doing special NYE dinner of pulled pork on bao buns with cucumber and spring onion, hoi sin pulled jackfruit for me, no duck spring rolls and homemade prawn toasts!

I'll go get shiny new January thread set up now and link them up!

Happy new year!

Last weigh in of the decade 14st 1.6lbs, down 0.8 from yesterday. Going to my parents home for New Year's eve and there will be a buffet heavy on savoury snacky things - all the things I like. I won't be drinking though except possibly a small glass to toast in the new year but hopefully not (depends on whether or not df decides to be traditional this year).
Happy New Year all Wine

7Worfs · 31/12/2019 10:50

Agh, I just lost a long message I typed!

The gist of it was:

  1. I also can’t bring myself to throw away food
  2. cricket chilli tale made my eyes water
  3. I’m down 3.2kg in December 🥳 probably due to longer fasting and moderate treats as meal replacements, also no drinking

No NYE celebrations in this house, plan for today:
B - porridge with mashed banana
L - leek & potato soup, boiled eggs
D - baked salmon with roast parsnips, orange, mince pie

Happy New Year, go us! 🤗

QueenOfOversharing · 31/12/2019 20:05

@Katinka2 thank you so much! I'm very much like you - emotional eater (10 years sober, so I transferred it all to food!) & peri-menopausal too. I lost 3.5 stone on lighter life a few years ago, and kept it off for a while, then did the Body Coach & lost 3 again. Then I just seem to hit that Fuck It Button & eat what I want.

But - would losing weight make me happier? Definitely. And it would help health issues too. No brainier, right? Hmm

I have at least 5 stone to lose. But I need to break it down into smaller amounts too.

lilgreen · 31/12/2019 21:24

I’m on the fizzy water so far tonight. Had a good day so far:
B: poached egg on toasted crumpet
L: Costa toasted mozzarella and tomato and basil panini, skinny flat white
D: 3 crispy duck pancakes with cucumber and bit of hoisin.
Got to get DD from work at 10pm but plan to have a glass of fizz after and maybe a couple of butterfly prawns. HNY, hope it’s a slimmer one for us all.

DownUdderer · 31/12/2019 23:44

I've lost 3lb for December, I'd done better than that, but this past week I've had a gain! I've been eating whatever for a few days so no surprises.

twolungs · 01/01/2020 03:14

Two blow out days. Going to be good as gold for the rest of the week Halo.

Happy losses for 2020 and thank you @cricketmum84

lilgreen · 01/01/2020 10:15

Happy slimmer new year!
I had a few nibbles with DD when I picked her up from work at 10pm and opened a bottle of fizz to discover it was low alcohol! It had been a gift so was a tad disappointing but at least I am clearheaded this morning. Looking forward to normal eating.

cobwebsoncornices · 12/01/2020 23:08

PMT hell today so fell into a large bar of chocolate and had the munchies all day. I did then stop though when sometimes I just continue stuffing anything into my mouth.
It has led me to look back on my first week of "new me" and realise how much crap I had been eating previously as I feel I have been "good" this week but there have been numerous slip ups. 2 x shortbread biscuits; a couple of roast potatoes; an offcut of cheese when making packed lunch for the DC. None of it is lethal but I know it's not something most of my skinny friends would do. Whilst a couple of my skinny friends do seem to have amazing metabolisms and eat huge amounts each day whilst remaining slim, most are very disciplined in what they eat and/ or fit in a lot of exercise. Simply not eating vast quantities of sugary snacks each day will aid my weight loss but I think it needs to be a more determined
egflt🙁

Hey @cobwebsoncornices

We are over here now :)

First weigh in and I'm really annoyed with myself. 11st6 last Mon, 11st2 on Fri and back up to 11st5 today. I must get over this weekend hurdle. Admittedly, yesterday I had hormonal related munchies and I've learned over the years that I just have to go with those but try and limit the damage (which I did) but there were some other slips, lack of exercise etc. And whilst I feel that I'm being "good"'as I'm not scoffing loads of cake & chocolate on a daily basis, looking back over MFP sees how many things like that did cross my lips last week.
@reckless I wouldn't base your impression of whether a gym is going to be busy or not based on the first weekend of the year. Give it a few weeks for the new year resolutions to lapse and it might be fine.
