cricketmum84 · 30/11/2019 13:00

Morning all! And welcome to the December edition of lose 7lbs!

A huge to welcome to the newbies, long term followers and contributors and the lurkers!

I would dearly love to lose 7lbs in December but accepting that I'm probably going to relax things a little, have some chocolate or some cheese, mulled wine and stollen.

I will still be following ww and 16:8 most days. I'm also going to try stay mostly vegan with the exception of local eggs which I think should help me stay on track!

Stats are:
Dec starting weight: 18.13
Dec target weigh: 18.7
Loss for November: 3lbs
Loss for 2019: 6stone 5lbs

Happy December to all and let's get our festive groove on!

Still 12.0 here, slightly stressed getting things ready for our Lapland trip tomorrow - argh it's so close to Christmas! Who's idea was this?!?!
So excited though, more excited than the kids! 4:30am start for us tomorrow and we should be home by midnight. 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻

Oh, my top tip for relieving constipation is to take regular magnesium tablets. I had a bowel prolapse repair operation a couple of years ago and it's vitally important not to get constipated afterwards as you can imagine. Regular magnesium and fybogel sachets worked for me.

lilgreen · 22/12/2019 10:43

Wow @woolly are you going for the day? That’s a long day but I’m sure it’ll be magical. Have a fabulous time!

beforeIhit30 · 22/12/2019 10:55

@Egghead68 @Ihatesundays I was going to say the same as @cricketmum84, chia seeds are good, a tablespoon is about 64kcal and just over 5g of fibre so they’re very helpful. They’re very absorbent so I always pre-soak mine at a ratio of 9:1 (so 9 tbsp of liquid to 1 tbsp of chia seeds). You can use them after 20 minutes of soaking, or just soak the night before you use them (or soak a few days’ worth at a time).

Also if you happen to be having less fat, which is common when people are dieting, that doesn’t help sometimes. You don’t need lots of fat to keep regular, as actually fat slows down digestive transit, but it does also keep your system lubricated basically. I think that’s another reason nuts and seeds can help.

And of course loads of water!

Congrats @lilgreen!

Been a bit under the weather (just run down I think) so didn’t eat much yesterday, but think I’ll have some breakfast today - funnily enough, seeds and nut-based! Or a pumpkin muffin with peanut butter... that could be good...

Tryingtwo · 22/12/2019 11:42

Just catching up, well done on the losses and maintains.
Vebrithien, it's great to hear your good news.
Ecci and Egghead68 thank you for your encouragement - it helps Smile
My comfy round the house trousers fell down this morning, several times, I had a t-shirt tucked in to them and nothing in the pockets and everytime I walked more than 3 steps down they went. They are a size 22 and were getting snug now they are retired!
Down 0.6lbs fron Wednesday.

Egghead68 · 22/12/2019 11:49

Nice one @tryingtwo.

Thanks for the chia seed suggestion @cricketmum84 and @beforeIhit30. I have a huge bag of them so will start eating a spoonful daily. I agree that lack of fat is part of the problem. I will try magnesium too - thanks @woollyfoolly.

Have a wonderful time @WoollyFoolly!

7Worfs · 22/12/2019 14:03

Woolly enjoy the magic! Xmas Smile
Tryingtwo It’s a great feeling isn’t it, clothes getting too big.

Leek & potato soup turned out fab, I also added bacon and may have had a mince pie with my afternoon coffee. 🤷🏻‍♀️

lilgreen · 22/12/2019 15:19

Jeans too big Grin

lilgreen · 22/12/2019 18:50

B:espresso, dry fried egg on toast
L: small avocado with 2 rice cakes and salad with a tbsp hummus, an apple
D: Beans on toast - craves it and it was so deliciously simple after a day of buying Christmas food.

lilgreen · 22/12/2019 18:50

*craved

Egghead68 · 22/12/2019 22:05

Went over on half a chocolate brownie & a slimline G&T.

Jeans too big as well which is a bit annoying as I bought them only last month and they were quite expensive.

DownUdderer · 22/12/2019 22:18

Drink heaps of water! That really can help being bunged up. Drink twice as much as you think you need!

Ihatesundays · 22/12/2019 23:04

I drink A LOT. I’m rarely without a drink.
Up till I skipped breakfast I was the most regular person in history.

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 04:26

66.1kg. Plan: Fruit & ready meals.

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 06:50

Now 65.6kg (thanks chia seeds) and pre-Christmas target met.

Have a good day everyone. Nearly there!

7Worfs · 23/12/2019 07:19

🥳 eggy well done!

59.3kg today, which puts me at 2.5kg loss in December so far. It was done in 2-3 overnight whooshes, one a week. Strange, but I’ll take it!

Very happy with results, but my resolve is weakening.

Katinka2 · 23/12/2019 07:41

Morning all.
Put on half a pound, so 14.8 and a HALF. Had a couple of meals out, bacon sandwich breakfast as well as DC’s breaking into Christmas Food in Christmas cupboard! Once packets and tub lids removed my resolve has weakened. Compared to last year though I have noticed a difference as though I’ve weakened a bit I’ve stopped before loosing count, if you see what I mean.

I’ve too found since I’ve started that constipation is a bit of a problem.
I’ve been eating 7 prunes on a evening as I watch telly. Tried dried apricots but didn’t like them as much. Prunes are from dried fruit section in supermarket so semi dried, nice and soft not tinned ones.

Originally started eating them for peri menopause as supposed to help with vit D uptake and something else beneficial but can’t remember.
Bonus as well is they are something to eat in the evening that is healthy. Anyway I’ve found they have helped as well too as drinking lots of water.

Plan today is fast till evening meal of scampi and big salad and same for tomorrow as can feel myself weakening a bit and need to keep on track. Lots of food prep today, making stuffing, veggie sausage rolls and going to try Jamie Oliver gravy recipe.

Am focused to keep going as best I can.

Ihatesundays · 23/12/2019 09:26

Still 72kg on the button! Busy day today...

cricketmum84 · 23/12/2019 10:51

Morning all and happy Christmas Eve Eve!

I'm a pound up but not sure how as yesterday I had a handful of pringles, 2 veggie sausages and about 8 potato wedges?? Not a mince pie or a chocolate in sight!

@Egghead68 glad the chia seeds worked!

Working from home today with the kids at home and they are nagging for McDonald's for lunch. I've checked the menu and if I get a fillet of fish and salad it's only 347 calories which isn't too bad.

Dinner is pesto pasta and salad. No sneaky G&T for me today either!

Trying to drink lots of water!

Good job all!

For those who are finding it harder to keep on, losing motivation or finding temptation harder to fight. You can do this! I read a blog some time ago about why we overeat, as I was feeling rubbish and started Googling something like ‘how to stop emotional eating’. What I remember and took from it was, being very kind to yourself and really thinking about why you want to eat, and what you really want to it. When you really think about it, sometimes you can surprise yourself.

For instance one day I was feeling rubbish, and I have always been an emotional eater, so I wanted to ‘treat’ myself with chocolate etc to feel better. I had just read this thing, and I was trying to lose weight too so I felt bad about wanting to eat all the treats. I stopped to really think about it - why do I feel rubbish? I was tired and I felt down about my appearance. Will chocolate help that? Not really, no. What do I really want to eat, if I think about it properly? Actually, I really wanted smoked salmon, strawberries and yoghurt (no idea why). So I had a shower, used proper skincare and perfume (looking after myself), then went to the shops to buy the food I wanted (and some stuff for family!), and that was what I had. And it really helped to break the association of making myself feel better through food or seeing certain foods as treats or ‘remedies’. Anyway it’s now something I’ve done for a while, whenever I feel a bit rubbish and think, “Pah, I just want a sugary hot chocolate” I go through that process again. Sounds a bit convoluted the way I’ve written it but hope it makes sense!

Still feeling rundown, DH is lovely as usual and has left me in bed but I’m still achey Sad will probably do what I did yesterday (which again was about really thinking what I wanted and looking after myself!) - pumpkin muffins and peanut butter for breakfast with coffee, and I’m going to wear my nice perfume and pick up some bits from the shops to top up for the kids. It’s sunny at the moment and I think heading outside for a little walk might do me good.

lilgreen · 23/12/2019 12:36

Had a lovely sunny dog walk this morning. Got friends for dinner tonight. Making a chicken curry so won’t be too bad. Really not fancying any Christmas food at the moment apart from the odd mini mince pie so that’s good.
B: 2 weetabix with skimmed milk
L: rye bread with small tin spicy tomato mackerel, an apple, satsuma
D: will be chicken curry and rice.

lilgreen · 23/12/2019 12:38

@cricketmum84 I always thought a hamburger at McDonald’s was the best option- no batter. I’m sure it has less cals than the fish burger. Still , that’s good at 347, will bear that in mind.

cricketmum84 · 23/12/2019 12:42

@lilgreen I don't eat meat so hamburger would have been no good for me :)

Hi everyone, mightily impressed with the self control some are managing to exert. I'm not doing too badly, had a few mince pies and a lot of alcohol at the weekend but I danced like an idiot for about 3 hours so figured I burned some of those calories off. Still fluctuating between 15 9/ 15 10 so aim is to maintain and keep the treats to a reasonable amount rather than going overboard.
Mother nature has seen fit to give my perimenopausal body a second period in 2 weeks ( after 8 weeks without any). Hoping this isn't a new trend for me, definitely one I could do without.
Hope everyone's Christmas plans are coming together. We're almost sorted here.Xmas Wink

Ihatesundays · 24/12/2019 00:21

I had some clothes delivered today.
A size 12 top and a size 14 skirt. Both fit very comfortably.
At the start of the year I was bursting out of a 14 top and 16 bottom.
