Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Yikes! I was weighed at the gym today and it was up about 3lbs from the morning but I was fully dressed/ had drunk water etc so not counting that. Also Height was measured and I was once again 5 foot 6 so HA! to the pharmacist that measured me (people from previous threads know!) I had all my VO2 etc measured and it was average, blood pressure yadda yadda. But my god, doing the programme I really have no upper body strength. Trainer was chatting to me about goals and stuff and I literally blurted our "I want a medal for something" Grin so I've got a few things I'm going to check out over the next few weeks and get myself a medal. First goal to work towards is doing a park run. Anybody do these? I've never been much of a runner but reckon I could build up to this sort of distance using a treadmill?

Anyway, back to food. Just made a cheese courgette bake with pancetta and me and the dh are our for a birthday party tonight so will have a few cheeky drinks. Not going to go overboard but it'll be nice to go out. Caught myself in the changing room mirror today and I'm starting to look how I do in my head. Made me feel v happy Smile

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/09/2019 18:32

Afternoon all

@RiddleyW I hope you're all better now!

We've been to London today, so on balance probably not a great day, but I didn't go mad on food/drink and there was a lot of walking. I am now just trying to glug water to make up for not doing enough of that through the day. Fasted 18 hours, ate inside 6.

Hope the competition went well @Foreverlexicon

Just going to go and catch up with your posts now!

Knitclubchatter · 21/09/2019 20:08

i'm going to half the bechamel sauce on the moussaka.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 21/09/2019 20:41

I've maintained this week. 😕 That Prosecco last weekend really made its mark. Looked back on my week and it wasn't great tbh. Ah well. I need to lose 1.5lbs this week to hit my half stone/month target though and that feels like a stretch right now.

I've been out and walked 8000steps in the sunshine today. I had two ice creams, but I missed every sunny bank holiday we had this year due to my accident, so have really enjoyed my afternoon. Im honestly really happy. My breakfast and evening meal have been spot on though and I didn't have lunch so damage is probably quite limited. I'm aiming for a perfect week from tomorrow morning.

I hope everyone is feeling good this Saturday night.

Knitclubchatter · 22/09/2019 03:42

Good food, most likely calorie dense. Although I stayed to reasonable portion size. 7:41 pm and I’ve taken over 18,000 steps and 42 flights of stairs...

Foreverlexicon · 22/09/2019 07:53

I did okay yesterday and we just had stir fry for dinner although she suggested pudding and we found a delicious brownie with caramel sauce which was 400 calories 😳 today we’re going for a walk and she wants to make a roast and blackberry crumble.

Because of my food issues I find this very difficult to be honest - I love food and I also don’t want to be awkward and I get the impression she likes to feed people to be nice and I’m fine when I’m here but I get so anxious beforehand.

However now I’m on shifts it’s pretty rare we’ll have a full day together so I’m going to go with it this weekend and assess next weigh day if I need to cut it down I suppose - the days we only have dinner together I can make up for it during the day and if I stick to around 1200 on work days then hopefully it’ll balance out 😕

I took her food shopping yesterday as she only has a motorbike so easier with a car and it made me a bit sad seeing how other people can just browse and buy what they fancy whereas I have all these internal rules I never knew I had. I really need to get this stone off so I feel a bit more comfortable and can start dealing with my head 😔

ChipsAreLife · 22/09/2019 08:54

Oh @diva you poor thing! I would be upset too. Were the scales on carpet? That can make you weigh more? Just focus on the ones at home and how well you're doing. I always weigh a bit more at the gym and try ignore it!!

@Foreverlexicon It's tough when you have these occasions. Roasts can be ok though, just try skip the spuds and cauliflower cheese!

Weekends are so hard!! Too much temptation, in trying to just be as good as possible but he a burger yesterday lunch (no chips 😇 ) but then had salad for dinner. Currently on day two of my horrendous period where I'm always hungrier so trying not to beat myself up. It's a long game and all that!! Have weighed in at 10.9 which is only one pound less than I started but it's been a very busy month got socialising and we still have a week to go!

cheesenpickles · 22/09/2019 09:11

I crashed and burned spectacularly last night. There was a lot of picky food at the party and I was a bit bored so inhaled popcorn and pretzels before going home and ordering a McDonalds double quarter pounder and 20 nuggets. 🙈 Ooops. We didn't eat them all so there's some chicken nuggets sat in my fridge I have no idea what to do with. Obviously scales were up 0.8lbs but alcohol, crap food, it'll be water weight/salt.

It must be tricky @Foreverlexicon is it too early doors to have that conversation or is it a car or explaining it never gives people the full understanding of how it goes. Also, I'm a sucker for a motorbike Grin

Weather has gone blughhhhhhh here. Sad

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/09/2019 14:03

What was that about? Are you over the shock now @DrDiva? Sad

Well done for joining up and getting going @cheesenpickles Hope you've binned the left over nuggets!

Impressive steps @Knitclubchatter

You can do that @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa Two ice creams sound like my kind of day Grin Wink

@Foreverlexicon a roast is a great meal. I normally do chicken, pigs in blankets, roasties, roasted carrot and parsnip, greens (tender stem broccoli today) and corn. There will be gravy and Yorkies, but I will not have those as I'm trying to stay away from gluten.

Hormones suck @ChipsAreLife I'm the same.

Well for me today: 18 hour fast, swimming with the children. Then I had a GF brownie to give me the energy to face Tesco Blush Lunch: jacket and salad, tea roast and will have birthday brownie cake with ice cream before fasting again - so an 7 hour eating window.

Above all expectations, I hit 9Kg (nearly 20bls) down this morning when I weighed in. Thought yesterday's day out would have sent weight up! Shock Has strengthened my resolve and will be doing some core yoga with Adrienne tonight!

Happy Sunday afternoon all!

cheesenpickles · 22/09/2019 14:31

Kids ate them Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/09/2019 17:42

Good!

I've actually closed my window after 6 hours. Hoping I can get to 20lbs off this week.

Something for everyone feeling like they're not making enough progress!

I’ve jut noticed my earlier post didn’t post.

Anyways, I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s updates and about your progress. You are an inspiring bunch!

Come tomorrow we have 14 weeks left of this year 😲. Just where has it gone! In that time I’ve said good bye to quite a bit of weight and hope to say good bye to a bit more before it’s end.

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend!

chutneypig · 22/09/2019 20:15

parkrun is the best thing ever @cheesenpickles, a great goal. It started me off running and all my family. We do it every weekend, kids included. I did a C25k program outside, but you could easily do on a treadmill. Did the trainer give you anything to follow?

I can usually get away with a couple of days higher calories @Foreverlexicon as long as I watch it the other days. It slows the loss of course but overall in the right direction. I feel bad on the two days I’m at home denying everyone else.

cheesenpickles · 22/09/2019 20:21

The trainer gave me a really basic programme of cardio for 30, chest press, chest pulls and squats with TRX to get started with.

Might try and do the c25k on the treadmill tomorrow and see how that goes. Trying to fit everything all in is feeling a tad daunting though Eeek

chutneypig · 23/09/2019 05:04

Maybe you could start out with one run a week and build up? The basic programme sounds good as well.

My average is down .9kg over the previous week, although not quite such a dip if I compare Monday weigh ins. I suspect a bit of salt and water retention going on there. I’ve got a good plan for the week, food all bought and planned out. Focusing on balancing my carbs out properly as I ah e my half next Sunday,

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Foreverlexicon · 23/09/2019 05:31

Well yesterday was a carcrash. Massive delicious roast with all the trimmings followed by crumble with clotted cream and butterscotch sauce.

Although the only other food I had was rice cakes with peanut butter and a chocolate bar (ffs) so at least I only really had 2 meals. And I’ve just had crumble for breakfast but I weirdly woke up starving and I probably won’t get a chance to eat at work, she insisted on giving me a portion of crumble to take and I figure actually it’s bettrr to eat it as a meal than eat it for pudding?!

God knows. It was good fun making it all together though, it just makes me anxious beforehand. I did try and talk to her about it and I could of said I didn’t want it. I’ll be super strict on my work week and see if I get an overall loss I guess.

SunshineCake · 23/09/2019 06:58

Morning all

Foreverlexicon - don't beat yourself up about your lovely food intake. It's gone. Crumble as a meal is totally fine. I'm 1-2 lbs up and it was the weekend and I enjoyed what I had even though I did have a few more mouthfuls than I needed but I'll park it, try better now and accept I'm still down on what I was September 1st.

My mission this week is to not eat my feelings. DS has been at his grandparents this weekend, is back this morning and goes to university in two days. I'm feeling a little emotional. Have a family friend popping in to see him and normally I put on a good picnic but today it will be soup or sandwiches or something on toast. Feeling bad about that but do I need to ? Confused.

Yep, feeling stressed and upset.

Hope everyone else is doing good. We've got this.

cheesenpickles · 23/09/2019 10:25

It sounds like you had a good time @Foreverlexicon so I'd embrace that for sure Smile

I've stalled (can't say I'm surprised) and said to myself I'd use my "lunch break" to go to the gym but my work has snowballed again Envy so just having a quick coffee break to try and clear as much as possible off my to do list and get a work out in. I work flexibly but with the youngest in limited nursery hours (because of cost) and my husbands hectic work hours it makes it so tricky. I'd go tonight after the kids have gone to bed but where he's planning on going Tuesday and Thursday nights, we'd barely see each other.

Determined to get it in though so back to the grindstone now.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/09/2019 13:17

Ah @sunshineCake that is a big thing! Just do your best.

Hope things calm down at work @cheesenpickles

I'm sure fruit crumble as breakfast is fine as a one off @foreverLexicon

Hi there @busteddreams

Well I've made it to 20.5lbs down. We're all full of cold, so I need to be careful not to eat the whole world too! Just need to get passed tomorrow and then I want to focus on fruit snacks again!

Today has been 17 1/2 hours fast, jacket with bacon and cheese gulped down, a nougat and fat coke [bush] Tea is home made chilli and rice. Should limit the damage overall!

ChipsAreLife · 23/09/2019 14:55

I hear you @cheesenpickles I work for myself and try do a workout at lunchtime but somedays I just can't. I try do them later at night but I'm always knackered after bedtime and clean up! Also the nugget story really made me chuckle!!

@Foreverlexicon ah well, sometimes you just have to accept it's done and you can't be good all the time. I always think 'I've scratched that itch' for a bit now, so I'm back on healthy eating.

@SunshineCake ah I hope you're ok, I would be feeling the same way. It's such a big step for him, but you must be so proud?

@MrsJonesAndMe well done!!! Awesome work! Bloody hate colds hope the chilli kicks it out.

I was ok ish yesterday ate a huge roast but early and then fasted for 19 hours till I ate today and managed a 40 min work out. Five weeks today till we go away for half term and want to lose 7lbs. Got a few little things that may railroad me but determined to do what I can!

Hope you're all having good Mondays!

BustedDreams · 23/09/2019 15:11

Happy Monday You Lovely Lot

Just a quick post as packing to go to coast for a few days.

Lovely to read that a few of you are getting your exercise in. I feel it does really help with weight loss & weight management. Will try to catch up on replying to posts later or perhaps tomorrow. Bye for now. Have fun!

Good afternoon, just back from walking the dog. Fell in a hole again. everything hurts and I feel a bit sick. Having a few crisps. Makes me remember how when I felt out of it and r tired I'd want coke to drink as I thought it would help. Rarely drink that now but using the crisps now for the same thing. Three more then the bag is going away.

SunshineCake · 23/09/2019 16:24

Sorry, ChipsAreLife I didn't refresh. Yes, very proud. I know I'll miss him like mad but I feel I've done my job that he's able to do this. A friend of mine is a wreck at her child going.

cheesenpickles · 23/09/2019 17:54

@SunshineCake my sister is in total denial her youngest will be finishing uni this year and is talking about redecorating for him. I can't even imagine being at that point yet.

Didn't make it to the gym but my week has levelled out a bit and there's been some rearranging so should be able to head there easily now. Hoorah!

Just plodding the streets to get myself to 10k steps in the pouring rain. Going to grab some of those kind bars as an evening treat snack. I'm struggling to keep my carbs under 20g and I think it'll be more manageable at 40/50g going forward. The personal trainer who did my induction gave me a "I can't comment on nutrition legally BUT..." so trying to take things on board and keep an open mind. I'm still sticking to at least 20:4 and 16:8 at a very minimum though.

SunshineCake · 23/09/2019 20:52

I'm not doing well in losing weight and ds is taking dh and I out for lunch tomorrow but I'll keep trying.
