Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s Septembers. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates.

The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Link to August’s Thread

I will continue to:-

  • follow a low carb Mediterranean diet as advocated by Dr Michael Mosley. It’s great for your heart health as well as keeping blood sugars in check.
  • Intermittent Fast IF
  • Calorie Count
  • Eat Mindfully and address emotional blocks as and when they arise.
  • Meal Planning
  • Use a tracker such as MFP.
  • Mantra is I’m not on a diet, nothing is banned, I do sustainable healthy eating.

How do you intend to lose/maintain?

Any tips you’d like to share?

Today has ended up being somewhat off "plan" but well deserved. I had to go to (and this super outing) the Isle of Wight today. Bloody brilliantly day for jt. Ended up in a cafe waiting for an appointment and it was a lovely indie cafe who insisted I try some of their homemade vegan gingerbread. So had to break fast early but ... free biscuits don't count right?

Then being over there made me crave fish and chips so when I finally got in (honestly, I had to wait for a bus for over an hour to go two miles but there's no pavements so couldn't walk! That took more time than crossing the Solent and getting home Grin!!!) I caved and bought me and family fish and chips. Carbs will be out of whack but I was under calories (I only ever eat a couple of chips anyway) and I've got my gym induction this week as well so that can start strong.

Anywayyyyy, just wandering the streets near my house currently to hit 10k steps then bed!

Knitclubchatter · 20/09/2019 04:28

i biked to yoga twice (as i forgot my money and went back after class), got in my 10,000+ steps mainly uphill (29 flights of stairs).
meals were uneventful so nothing extra or treats.
positive thoughts to everyone, wishing you a productive day.
i'm prepping for guests staying on saturday and sunday. moussaka worth 433 cal per serving being prepped tonight.

Foreverlexicon · 20/09/2019 04:43

I came in at 1200 calories yesterday. Rode the horse and took lots of steps.

I’m competing the horse today. Calories will be on the higher side but will get in a tonne of exercise.

I’m going to weigh in tomorrow to see where I’m at. Fully expecting a gain as I ate a lot of my week off but I need to see where I’m at or I can’t monitor it.

chutneypig · 20/09/2019 06:53

Best of luck competing today @Foreverlexicon.

That’s a active day @Knitclubchatter and fantastic weekend planning as well.

Great stuff @MrsJonesAndMe

@Mia3456 that must have been a tremendous shock, hope you managed to get some sleep and have a great day today.

You’ll need the carbs for the gym @cheesenpickles. That’s what I always tell myself.

I do a lot at home too @ChipsAreLife. I did enjoy the gym classes when I joined but found the time pressure was to stressful, and that’s without having the kids around.

Good to see you @Jollyholibobs

Wasn’t the sun glorious @BustedDreams?

I’m down another 0.6kg this morning so feeling focussed for the weekend. I came in a bit over yesterday but had a random lunch my boss had planned to contend with. There’s a good healthy choice there so I kept my head. I’ve realised I’m dippping down on carbs at the moment so my plan for next week is to rectify that. Mostly by the medium of sweet potato!

BustedDreams · 20/09/2019 09:18

Morning Lovelies

@galvantula how it’s going knocking off 200. I suppose it all depends what your previous limit was. For example if 2000 -200 doable. 1000 - 200 would be really tough. Let us know how you get on.

@Mia3456 sorry to hear about your bump. That sucks. Hope you’re all ok.

@MrsJonesAndMe good to hear you’re back in the zone! It makes such a difference.

@cheesenpickles sounds like you had a great day and hope you enjoyed your treats. It’s important to have treats sometimes. Especially if delicious cookies and f&c.

@Knitclubchatter bonus bike ride as well as yoga. Sounds like you’re in the groove and right mindset. Well done!

@Foreverlexicon Good luck for today’s competition!

@chutneypig it certainly was glorious. All day. Not a cloud. Got all washing dried. Reported some peace lilies (got 6 from 2. They make nice surprises to give to visitors). Did a bit of weeding. Lovely active day (for me)

Stayed to plan for lunch and had my home made veg & mixed bean soup. Wheels fell off later though. DH went out running errands in the afternoon. I purposely said to him I didn’t want fish & chips bringing back as he has a habit of doing that. No fish and chips but I was Kebabbed instead. Only ate some of the meat, ate the salad and 1/2 dozen chips. Didn’t eat the pitta. I can’t even say it was delish because it wasn’t. It was meh.

I’m enjoying reading all your updates. You’re a great bunch of ladies.

Have a good one.

So I’ve found out that I’m pregnant!! Still very early days but it’s looking like a real thing. This is awesome news but also puts a spanner in my weight loss works! If I can get through the nausea I’m still going to try and eat healthy and still hopefully drop a bit of weight in the early stages but we will see how it goes. Obviously my priority is to be healthy for me and the baby.

galvantula · 20/09/2019 13:00

Hi busted. My previous target was about 1470 and I'm now at 1220.

I actually pretty much nailed it yesterday as we had a healthy ish dinner of cous cous and carrot and chick pea tagine. And NO evening snacks 😅

This weekend might be more of a challenge as it's my oldest's birthday with celebrations over 2 days plus my usual weekend 🍷...

It really does just mean I have to focus on better choices and swap snacks for an apple or something. I think once I'm at a weight I'm comfortable with I'll be ok in maintenance calories... But with better habits.

Plus I need to drink more water. I'm a bit ahem uncomfortably bunged up this week so hopefully that will resolve itself soon. Blush

hope you're having a good Friday. :)

cheesenpickles · 20/09/2019 13:39

Eeek! Congratulations @Hiphopopotamus!! Amazing news Smile

I'm just heading home after a work appointment. Praying my train isn't delayed as I've had to schedule an Uber to take me to my daughter's school from the train station so I'm not late to collect her. Eeeeek 🙈 train gets in at 3, school kicks out at 3:15 and it's about a 5/10 min drive. Fingers crossed.

In other news I'm down 0.1lb today and a mere 4lbs from a healthy BMI. Would not have believed that three/four months ago.

I've got to pop out for work tonight and completely forgot to tell my husband. Woops.

Have no idea what to make us all for dinner. I've not even unloaded the dishwasher yet/done last night's dishes. It's been a mad mad week. If I actually wrote down what I've done/where I've been/who I spoke to this week (but it's super outing so won't Grin) I think most people would think I was insane/lying.

Hope everybody is having a good one!

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/09/2019 14:22

Wow, that's great news @Hiphopopotamus I found pregnancy great for weight loss as I was so sick up to 12 weeks Blush

Back in the zone for sure! Woke up at 4 and then 5 for the day, so was starving! Waited as long as I could before breaking fast with a slither of birthday cake and tea mug of hot choc. Lunch jacket with ham/cheese and salad. Tea: stir fry with rice noodles. Scales was back down so 19.5lb in total - 7lbs of those in September.

Dress was this one: www.next.co.uk/style/esr06900#r06900
but sat funny on my bum, so returning it and wearing one I've got which fits so much better now I've lost some weight @BustedDreams

Good luck with the tight school run @cheesenpickles

Have a lovely day all, will be back to check in again later/tomorrow.

galvantula · 20/09/2019 14:29

Congratulations @Hiphopopotamus Flowers

BustedDreams · 20/09/2019 14:29

@Hiphopopotamus Congratulations! Awesome news! Continuing to eat healthily will benefit both you and your baby as long as you pack the nutrients, vitamins and minerals in. You’ll do great!

@galvantula that sounds very doable. My target is 1000 - 1200 per day. Nearer 1000 if I can. I am petite frame and not very tall. If I eat more than those amounts I gain. Let us know how you go.

@cheesenpickles 4lbs will be gone soon enough. You have done so well. You’ve been consistent and in the right head space. Winning formula. Hope your train is on time!

Just had a late lunch as was playing dress up & sorting wardrobe out. 2 large bags sorted for the charity shop. In a firm 10 jeans now which I’m pleased about.

On another note TMI warning ... since I had some pain killers earlier this week I’ve been unable to ‘go’. Was feeling really uncomfortable and my suspected upper abdominal hernia was giving me grief (due to the fullness and pressure). So I made a fat flush shot (2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp acv, lemon water, ground flax seed, hemp protein, pinch of turmeric & black pepper, shaken up to mix in a lidded container). Within 15 minutes I was in poophoria Grin. Such a relief and my pain and discomfort has gone.

Hello! I’ve been a bit absent, actually been in hospital since Saturday, home today. Weighed myself and I’ve lost 3lbs while admitted - would not recommend this as a strategy! All pretty much well now I hope.

Knitclubchatter · 20/09/2019 15:43

Congrats Hippo!
Oh Riddley I hope your feeling fully recovered, 3lbs down is nice.
Busted, your elixir sounds interesting...for the first time in my life I found myself in a real state after a recent surgery. Hoping to never go down that road again.

Knitclubchatter · 20/09/2019 17:00

So 151.4 up .9 although increased muscle mass and body water. Down from the beginning of the month and I’ve done well over the year. No reason to veer off plan today; steps and bike sensible meals. Oatmeal for beaky, soup for lunch, chicken and rice for supper.

Cary2012 · 20/09/2019 17:19

Hi all. Need to catch up with thread. Have lost 2lb over 7 days, so delighted with that. Nothing different diet wise, I think it could be the extra running around at work and the stress of teaching! 4lb lost so far in September, so will be delighted if I can shift a couple of more pounds before the end of the month. Take care, off to read the last few pages and catch up with you all Flowers

cheesenpickles · 20/09/2019 19:13

I managed to make it on time... just! Heading out now for an evening thing and dh isn't happy. We're trying to ditch our youngest's dummy and tonight is the night she's kicked off, after I've left the house and he's pissed off. Envy
Had a beef and broccoli stir fry type thing. 20ish carbs but really good. Slightly obsessed with broccoli at the moment, which makes a nice change from cake. Lol

galvantula · 20/09/2019 21:23

My food today... Breakfast - mini fry up, dinner McDonald's as we were there for part of birthday boy evening out. Lunch.. um, none. 😅

That sounded stressful cheese !

@busteddreams I'm hoping I don't have to resort to your fat flush out. It may come to that though. Blush

Having a glass of 🍷 now. Still quite close to target...💪

SunshineCake · 21/09/2019 06:37

Morning all

Congrats on the baby, H and welcome, M. Have you organised a new car seat for the baby ?

I am still in shock that I seem to be less hungry and not wanting snacks then last night dh made me some chocolates and I must have had six along with a few crisps. Of course I'm up a pound from the day before but I'm not feeling bad, was last day of period, was what I wanted or needed and it is fine. Just checked chart and even with one pound up today from the last two days I'm 5.4lbs down for September. Probably less than everyone else but I'm still very happy.

Up early as 16 year old dd has gone to a university open day. Bit sad that ds is going to in-laws today until Monday morning as he goes to uni on Wednesday so I'll lose half the time I have left with him but I don't begrudge my in-laws the time. Would just like to have been told!

Have a good day all.

BustedDreams · 21/09/2019 10:08

Good morning all

What another glorious September day. It’s just perfect for me. I’m definitely a Spring & Autumn girl. The climates perfect at those times, cool, crisp, just lovely.

Stayed on plan yesterday even though I did bakes for my dh to take to his hobby today. I DID NOT LICK ONE BOWL. I’ve also remained alcohol free this September (and most of August, I don’t drink much any way).

Today it’s homemade soup for lunch and tray bake with chicken and vegetables later. Baby bell, celery and chopped apple. Water, coffee with cream and white tea.

I’m hoping to see a true loss on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Hope you’re all outside making the most of the Autumn sunshine.

Congratulations @Hiphopopotamus

That’s great news!

Yesterday wasn’t the best day foodwise; it was a very long day and frankly I was hungry. I had about 2200 calories I think but it wasn’t binging - just a very long day up at 4.30 and 4 hours driving!

I’ve weighed myelf and it’s depressing how fast I gain weight when I go into fuck it mode! I’m spending this evening and tomorrow with the person I’ve been seeing which in the past have always meant a lot of food. I’ve explained I have some issues around food and that I’m trying to lose a bit of weight but she’s already talking about making a roast tomorrow... I will just try and make good choices and not have pudding? I struggle around her because I end up thinking fuck it, it’s a one off but then my weightloss dried up. However I’m eating a lot less on work days now so maybe if I just have reasonable portions, it will cancel itself out? It’s hard because my head is in a better place with food again now and trying too hard makes it worse but I really do want to lose weight.

DrDiva · 21/09/2019 14:09

Oh god, I just had a medical for insurance purposes and it weighed me at a while stone more than my home scales. I know mynscales are accurate because we weigh luggage for the airport on it, and it’s always dead on. But what do I do!! And I was distressed and agitated because those kind of things always bring in terrible childhood crap, so the bp readings were through the roof and she couldn’t calm me down enough. So crap all round really Sad

I am having a gin and tonic. Grin

DrDiva · 21/09/2019 14:51

I’m still so agitated! Deep breaths... and no face first into the ice cream tub, right?? Grin

My 7yo DS bless him has realised I am not quite right and has briskly decided that a cycle ride is what I need. Funny how that’s exactly what he wants, but he’s probably not wrong!

RiddleyW · 21/09/2019 15:55

Oh god I know what I meant to post to here. Diva your post made me remember!

So I was admitted to hospital on Saturday about midnight. As part of the paperwork they ask what you weigh. I said 190lbs which I was pretty sure about.

Couple of days later a nurse on my ward did this thing where she looked at me, at my notes, back at me. Then said, hang on I’m going to weigh you. Turns out my weight had been recorded as 190 kg instead of lbs. Giving me a BMI of 81. 😣

RiddleyW · 21/09/2019 15:56

I do really feel for you Diva, good job not eating those feelings!

Knitclubchatter · 21/09/2019 16:18

Oh Diva that makes NO sense! Honestly, was it shoes clothing and rocks in your pocket? 1 stone is 14 lbs??
I’d be marching back with my scale.
I’m retaining water from my double exercise day so back over 153, maybe some hidden salt in last nights meal?? Which was a large baked potato with 1/4 portion of chicken vindaloo (very spicy).
Forever it’s very hard making good food choices consistently with shiftwork alone forget about adding in dates!
