Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Oh my ladies, lots of good stuff on here as always

DD and I had a girly outing so I've had quite a lot of pop corn, a small amount of katsu curry and rice and a mini magnum.

Tea is a salmon and spinach fish cake, sweet potato wedges and peas & corn. Not the best, but not the worst day either and I did 17 hours before eating so hopefully a good section of time fat burning Grin

Tomorrow is school shoe shopping shoot me now and we are ordering chinese Blush and Sunday might be cinema with other DC - sensing a theme here!? Hoping we might get to go swimming Monday to burn off some of the lard Smile

Have a wonderful long weekend all of you! Hugs to @DrDiva and @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa

Just back from festival #1 and actually managed to find something low carb friendly with a pork gyros bowl and handing the bread over to the sprockets. Dh has a big fuss he didn't know what to have and threw a strop. Just got home now and he's said he's "fat too hungry to choose something to eat". So I told him i was going to have a snack (we picked up some biltong at the foodie tent) and he's having a huff Confused

Had a good time but the music wasn't really my cup of tea. Off to my favourite festival tomorrow and the next day (which is also ten minutes from my house conveniently) so I'll just roll with it tomorrow. Much better music too Grin

Also did 17.5k steps today so think I've earned a snack. Grin

Good Morning 😊

Lovely reading about your progress ladies! Me myself and I had a spectacular fall from grace last night right into a plate of Thai Chilli Sweet & Sour King Prawn 🍤. I regret nothing Grin.

Back on it today. Planning scrambled egg & salmon for lunch. Chicken and veg/salad later.

I will catch up with posts later today and respond as required.

Have a fun day!

Dd has just weighed herself as she's in to fitness. I weighed myself and I'm a pound up from yesterday and the nhs thing says I should weigh a little more than my 16 year old daughter. Says I'm over weight. Feel crap. Too embarrassed to post my weight. Hate myself. Tried so hard to get over food issues from not being fed as a child and called greedy when asking for seconds at the one meal a week I knew I would get. Going to walk doggy for ages today. That should help, yes?

BustedDreams · 24/08/2019 09:54

@SunshineCake a big hug for you Flowers Sorry to hear you’re struggling. Please don’t be so hard on yourself. Don’t self hate. We need to be kind to ourselves, as you would show towards a friend. Be your own friend.

Walking does help in our journeys. I always notice a positive change, especially mood, when I exercise. Here are some tips, I hope they help.

Morning. Quick one. 0.4lbs up but definitely water weight from all that walking and not drinking enough. Not too worried though. Planning on a few drinks this evening so looking forward to that. Have a good one guys!

doadeer · 24/08/2019 10:39

@SunshineCake ohhh 😔 you've done so amazing don't give up, yes a walk will definitely help. Every day is a new day. Sending hugs! You sound like a lovely mum x

I had the most unhealthy Dinner - did homemade nachos with spicy chicken and loads of guacamole, sour cream.and cheese. It was delicious. No regrets 🙈

Back to health focus today. Breakfast pic below.

@SunshineCake that sounds like an abusive childhood (((hugs))) No wonder you had food issues/struggle with food. Just carry on doing your best to look after yourself.

16 1/2hr fast here, but broke the fast with a 99 Blush Catch up with you all later x

DrDiva · 24/08/2019 12:48

@SunshineCake Flowers Brew that sounds bloody hard to deal with. And it’s surprising just how much parenting can uncover the hurt that is still there. Give yourself some love and attention and let us give you some too! (And I hope you have a cuddly dog... Smile )

SunshineCake · 24/08/2019 15:03

Thank you BustedDreams. I've saved that page as I'm sure it will help me to keep rereading the tips. I was out with my dog for nearly two hours having a lovely walk and I'm glad as it's too hot to go out again at the moment.

Thank you everyone. I'm embarrassed at how kind you all are to a useless stranger. Thankfully doggy is very cuddly. She is a golden retriever and I am her favourite human by a mile. She never turns down a cuddle, ear scrunch or stroke

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/08/2019 18:12

Oh my goodness, you're not useless @SunshineCake. You've managed to raise your DD (and possibly other children) and presumably managed to give her everything that you were denied as a child. And now you're working on yourself.

If I'm not speaking out of turn, have you ever accessed counselling? It might be worth looking at - even just CBT to help you break the thought processes.

Glad you had a great walk.

Ladies, today has been a very enjoyable but epic fail. Not only did I have a 99, but I had bread with my soup (in my defence DD chose boring tomato) while I waited for DD to have her tutoring I had a fat coke and millionaire shortbread and we just had Chinese for tea!

Rest assured that I did the food shop this afternoon with berries, meat and salad ingredients. We as grownups are not going anywhere tomorrow apart from me playing Mum's taxi all day in different directions, so there'll be no ice cream, cake or hot chocolates.

Hope everyone else did better than I did Blush Have a good evening!

SunshineCake · 24/08/2019 19:59

MrsJones - I have had EMDR & DBT and for a few weeks now I have been having a different type of therapy. It is really really hard and affects me quite badly but I do feel it is working and helping.

Adollop · 24/08/2019 20:11

Can I join in? Ideally I need to lose about 2 stone, but want to take it slowly and in a way I can stick to.

My downfall is chocolate, but also crisps and cake, so I'm cutting them out. I'm aiming for 1300 kcal per day and tracking on MFP. I don't want to cut out any food groups, because I have a lot of digestive problems and don't want to cause problems and make myself ill. I don't exercise, I can't run or even walk far for medical reasons and swimming is a problem too, but I intend to take up yoga again, and maybe join a pilates class.

Today was my first day, I've had

B: 2 slices of sourdough rye bread, one with just thin butter, one with butter and cheese (because dp made it and didn't realise)

D: cold roasted chicken breast with a small jacket potato and lots of salad with a little dressing

S: a few strawberries and blueberries

I need to drink more water, I don't drink much alcohol, mainly drink black decaf coffee.

I haven't weighed myself yet, because I don't know where my scales are!

DrDiva · 24/08/2019 20:34

@SunshineCake you are definitely not useless, and hardly a stranger now, given that we are all sharing quite fragile parts of ourselves! Smile
Thank you for everyone's well wishes about DS. So sorry to hear about your DC going through this, Sunshine - it’s bloody horrible, isn’t it? And when you find out that teachers knew about it, but just shrugged it off... DS has been in his new school for a year, but he has had a lot to deal with so it drags on. He was 9 weeks prem, due September but born July so a summer born going into year 3 rather than an autumn born year 2. He had a speech delay and was bullied mercilessly for this, including being blamed for everything that went wrong because the kids knew he couldn’t argue back. And the teachers always believed the other kids. There was also physical bullying.
He is improving massively but slowly! It’s been a loooong summer Blush Smile
I did better on food today. Including a roast dinner. I may finally have cracked how to roast beef properly. For a good cook, I was terrible at beef!

BustedDreams · 24/08/2019 21:03

@SunshineCake you are most welcome you lovely human 😊. Reading your post about your dog and walk was heart warming. Keep going, keep breathing, step by step, one day at a time. There’s no rush ❤️

Thank you all.

I've realised why this support means so much to me.

It's a reminder of when I have felt so crap about the fact that I had to rely on strangers to look after me as a kid as even my own parents didn't want me.

I feel alone in the world even now and again, I have to rely on strangers to get me through. My therapist, my doggies friends, you guys..

cheesenpickles · 24/08/2019 23:52

At least 5 pints. No food. Oops. Blush I'm going to feel like shit tomorrow, aren't I? I Grin

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/08/2019 06:42

Welcome @Adollop

Whoops @cheesenpickles

Hope this helps more though it sounds like tough going @SunshineCake

I'm feeling rather bluergh after yesterday's indulgence, so straight and narrow for me!

Laura221 · 25/08/2019 07:03

I've had a couple of indulgences these past couple of days and the scales are showing it. So back on the straight and narrow for me today

Enjoy the sunshine everyone x x

cheesenpickles · 25/08/2019 09:19

I'm vaguely ok. I've not dared to get on the scales this morning though. Grinhope everybody has a good day.

doadeer · 25/08/2019 10:55

Eeek I'm 2lbs up and same place I was two weeks ago 🙄🙄🙄 tomorrow's a new day

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/08/2019 11:06

Morning All,

I was out yesterday for pride and we had Hard Rock Cafe for food, it was fantastic. Food heavy, but actually good choices were made. 😊

I'm having a holiday week from SW due to yesterday and it being my daughters birthday this week. I will still be making all the right choices in between though.

Today -

B - weetabix

L - roast chicken leftovers salad

D - Gallo Porcini Mushroom risotto with added leftover chicken.

Have a great sunny Sunday everyone.

SunshineCake · 25/08/2019 15:31

Afternoon everyone

Has anyone lost weight through exercise as I am finding it makes no discernible difference. I did the shred for a month and lost nothing and for the last 2 3/4 years I've done at least one hours walk a day with my dog and most days I have done this twice. Yesterday I started using my exercise bike and already I can see myself getting obsessed with cycling further or burning more calories as I did with my walking and was trying to beat my step count each day but wasn't eating enough so felt faint a lot
