Following on from the July thread for those who wish to carry on and for new joiners alike.

Ive been inspired by the ladies who posted on the July thread. There have been some awesome losses.

Not quite the end of the month and I’ve achieved my July goal of getting below the elusive 140lbs. As of this morning I was 139.6lbs, bmi 27.3. Down from 145.9lbs, bmi 28.5.

I’m doing a lower carb Mediterranean diet. Plenty of veg, some berries, salad, olive oil, butter, cream, fish, chicken and some red meat. Occasionally I will have whole grain rice and gluten free pasta (good for my micro biome). I rarely drink alcohol. Chocolate can be my downfall Grin. I naturally only want to eat twice a day. I’ve read that intermittent fasting can be beneficial in the battle of the bulge as well as keeping blood sugars in check.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

afternoon all.

i missed the morning chat because I had a lovely coffee meet up in a favourite place with a friend. :) We had a nice chat and then a walk, to burn off a tiny bit of the lovely home baking that went with the coffee. Blush

My bounce back up in weight hasn't really gone back down again, so I am back to waiting for a whoosh. I'm not too down about it, I am feeling positive that I am getting back into better habits.

I've a day off work tomorrow, i want to try and tackle some of the clutter and toy mess while all the DC are out and not able to make other messes!

you are all doing so well, it's nice to have this feel good thread. :)

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/08/2019 13:40

Oh my goodness, I've missed lots of posts!

@bustedDreams - I'm currently on the same. Hoping it will stay that way.

Well done on all the losses - tagging not working, but carly stands out in my memory, awesome work!

I managed 15 hours fasting today, so a bit more on track. Had a small hot choc and GF brownie, chicken & pepper/tomato soup and tea will be spaghetti and meatballs.

Catch up later x

dancingmom · 22/08/2019 13:58

There's nothing like back pain from dancing to make you feel old. I am exactly the same @BustedDreams and even worse with heels!

@cheesenpickles you total legend! That's an amazing achievement! So nice when smaller clothes start to fit. I find that such a motivation to keep going.

@Cary2012 well done to you too... and everyone in fact. I do like this thread for helping keep me in the mindset.

I did a big dog walk today and cycle with kids. Ate mushroom and spinach omelette with grated mozzarella- love - for breakfast/lunch (fasted from 5pm until about 10am) and chia seed pudding made with coconut and almond milk with strained Greek yoghurt dollop on top as a snack. Will do s kind of lamb parmigiana with aubergines layered again and lots of cheese for dinner. Everyone seemed to like that.

Am really focussing on tracking ingredients and weighing like mad at the moment to make sure I'm not going over. I don't feel hungry at all really so I'm pretty sure I'm fat adapted now. But I do get the odd pang from boredom really.

cheesenpickles · 22/08/2019 14:43

Thanks @dancingmom two of my neighbours have stopped me today and asked me my secrets. GrinJust hoping to ride this crest of good vibes for a while now. I can't remember the last time I felt so happy in my own skin. When I was younger and slimmer I felt awful because I had a very bad... disfigurement, is to speak that really made me feel ugly. It's been fixed with surgery (it's super outing so can't say exactly what). I feel like I'm finally getting to look like how I "should" and the confidence is coming in droves. Def couldn't have done it without these threads though. Gin Gin for all Grin

cheesenpickles · 22/08/2019 14:45

(I'm even contemplating getting my belly button pierced, though crepey mum tum skin may put that to rest Grin)

Laura221 · 22/08/2019 20:00

@cheesenpickles you should def get a belly button piercing! What I way to make you feel great about yourself.

Sorry I haven't been back in today to reply. Busy work day. Some really great losses and to the person who fit into size 14 things (sorry forgot your name) woohoo! What a great feeling that must be :)

Also lots of yummy food, that omelette posted previously sounded great and I dont particularly like omelette

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/08/2019 20:48

Hello, I had a relatively good day. 8hr window shut at 5:30, so might have to pop off to bed soon to stop looking at cakes on my Pinterest feed Blush

Wondered if anyone is musing 2/3 of the way through August on what they've achieved/changed. Not everyone has seen a loss in lbs or inches, but maybe eating better or prioritising yourself?

I have:
-not had Coke for 24 days
-taken my medication daily

  • done yoga or pilates each day, bar one
  • eaten a lot less overall, but especially snacking

Anyone else?

Foreverlexicon · 22/08/2019 21:15

I’ve been ticking along just doing my thing. Can’t believe how well meal replacements are working for me.

I’ve literally been eating whatever for dinner so I’m prepared to cut back on that if necessary but I’m hoping that as my daytime calories are so low that it’ll be enough to lose a pound or so a week at least.

Weighing in tomorrow which is a bit early and may not be the best as I’m up very early but I have a busy weekend planned so not sure if I’ll get a chance to weigh as in a bit all over the place!

galvantula · 23/08/2019 00:05

MrsJones I am trying to prioritise myself a bit. I hate being overtired, stressed shouty mum. Blush

I have actually bought myself a self care journal, it has some nice chat every few pages and a bit to record if you are getting enough sleep and how well hydrated you are keeping yourself. Also what you have done for self care each day etc.

if my weight continues to hover, I might have to try to reduce calories a bit, i'll give it a couple of weeks though.

Foreverlexicon · 23/08/2019 04:57

My weigh in is down 1.2 from last Friday but up 0.2 from last Saturday evening although I was quite dehydrated and hadn’t eaten all day when I weighed. I don’t think it’s that accurate today though as I’ve had a beyond terrible night sleep.

Also some non-scale victories this week- belt has gone up another hole and my collarbones are looking more defined so I’m just gonna stick with it. If I don’t lose much over the next week then I’ll start being more careful with my dinners.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/08/2019 06:25

Great stuff @Foreverlexicon and @galvantula

Have a good day all!

SunshineCake · 23/08/2019 06:30

I've stopped snacking between meals and last night I really wanted toast but didn't have it. Dh would normally make it but we were watching something and then it finished I felt too late to eat, he didn't offer and I was fine. This is good as I'm not allowed normal bread and I have serious food issues and normally get upset and panicky when I think I'm not being allowed to eat.

Cary2012 · 23/08/2019 06:46

Morning all! Thankyou @BustedDreams aka gorgeous hair, and @dancingmom. It is good to no longer be in the bmi overweight catogory, but I am still, in my mind quite overweight. I was a size 16/18 at 13 st 11lb when I started this journey late May (am 5'8"), and today I'm a size 14 @ 11st 9lb. I want to be a size 12, so think I'll need to lose at least another stone to get there. And I'll be honest, I'm getting bored. I will stick to it, because I'm a stubborn old goat, but I feel flat. It's all a bit samey. I don't snack, I don't exceed my cal allowance, it's fine. It's the new norm I suppose. And I think it's dawning on me that this is long term now. I've always lost well, then regained and I can't deal with the thought of that. Just got to give my head a wobble and get positive again. Sorry to be grumpy, you're all doing amazing, and @cheesenpickles you're awesome. You all inspire me so much. @MrsJonesAndMe, I haven't had crisps, cakes, chocolate, sweets etc, or refined carbs for 12 weeks. I'm drinking more water, watching portions, and don't snack. Am eating loads of veg and fruit. Must be doing me some good. Well done on your achievements. Have a great day all.

Cary2012 · 23/08/2019 06:51

@SunshineCake, well done on resisting the toast and stopping the snacks!

dancingmom · 23/08/2019 07:38

@Cary2012 that's so good!! We are same height and I am 12st 4 and have been for ages it feels like. Being so GOOD and desperate to get under 12 like you... I think getting into exercise helps my brain focus on task at hand and not so food focussed. Am doing spinning, walking, weights and that's about it... 🤪🤪 Weird thing is I am not tired and waking up naturally at dawn. Now that IS weird for me. Trying to do 16:8 too. I mean if the weight doesn't come off soon I'm not sure I can do much else!

DrDiva · 23/08/2019 07:40

@MrsJonesAndMe that’s a really nice idea. I have to say that I need to think about doing stuff for me much more. Actually easier after summer I think - I have been off with DS who is recovering from the effects of some serious and sustained bullying (we had no idea how bad it was Sad ) and it hasn’t been easy. I feel like I’ve got lost in the middle of it all. But you have inspired me to think of some small changes I can make for me. @galvantula what self care journal do you use? I do like a good journal!

@SunshineCake that’s a definite win. Flowers

SunshineCake · 23/08/2019 07:51

Thank you all.

Just a quick note, sorry again, but about to take doggy for her walk as I have an appointment but I wanted to tell you I've lost another pound. Even if I can't quite believe it.

galvantula · 23/08/2019 08:09

@DrDiva it's this one

365 Days of Self-Care: A Journal www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1409183432/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nc5xDbYTPFHK9?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

"365 days of self care" I managed to get an Amazon Warehouse copy slightly cheaper as well. 😆

cheesenpickles · 23/08/2019 08:25

0.2lb off for me this morning and the weekend of chaos/fun begins. Thanks so much for all your kind words and I'm seriously considering the piercing though may just get a double helix in my ear if I'm not brave enough to flash my tummy in the future. Lol

It's definitely a mindset change and realising we can never go back to eating how we did. You're doing so well @Cary2012.

That's horrible @DrDiva and you can't pour from an empty cup so definitely make sure to allocate some time to yourself.

@Foreverlexicon taking entire meals out of the thinking equation helps so much. I used to faff and get bored of organising three meals a day that were healthy that by dinner I was "fuck this". IF works for me as I can autopilot the kids food and just concentrate on one decent healthy meal without really restricting.

Hope everybody has a good day!

SunshineCake · 23/08/2019 09:16

Thank you very much Cary2012 and well done to you for the realisation that this is a new way of life and being determined not to slip back.

Thank you DrDiva and I'm so sorry to hear your child has been bullied. Two of mine were, badly physically. We moved all the kids then the youngest two moved again as school wasn't meeting their needs then the youngest had to move again due to physical assault and shit care. They opted to keep the bully and his brother as two sets of fees rather than one. The bully has since had broken bones at the new school and his mum is less than impressed.

BustedDreams · 23/08/2019 09:34

Good Morning you lovely lot.

Just a quick post as have work people in. I have my food planned for today and fully intend to stick to plan. Hopefully will get my 10k steps in too. 9 days left, hope to lose at least another 1.5 lb.

Hey evwetone! Great progress! Sorry I've been a bit quiet. Very sleepless nights with my baby but I've been disciplined. No bad snacks. Had a biscuit after baby yoga but I think thats allowed!

Think im only 1 or 2 lbs down this week... I'm exercising as much as I can, really want to see a bit more toning. I'm 9lbs away from a healthy BMI but I think a stone would be better for me.

I always crave something sweet after dinner and I've been enjoying the M&S raspberry sorbet with a little coconut on. Very yummy and low calorie.

Happy Friday!

Good morning everyone. I've had a real wobble over the last couple of days. I gained at weigh in on Monday and it was undeserved, truly, then had news that I'm going to have to have more surgery which will put me back yet again - particularly when I was starting to get back into exercise.

I gave myself till last night to wallow, ordered a takeaway for me and my girls and am back on track this morning.

I saw this on Instagram yesterday which I've found really useful and am going to put into practise over the coming weeks.

Have a great day all.

9st 2lb on today’s weigh in.

Plan is to introduce a second Huel meal next week so breakfast and lunch, and then a ‘normal’ evening meal. If nothing else it will save me some money 💰

REALLY motivated to end the month at 9st or less. And then there’ll only be another 7lb to go before I’m in my normal weight range.
