Lose 7lbs in July

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 07:41

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

@Chickenitalia Yes we all can do it with a little bit of preparation & planning.

I’ve done great with my water intake today and not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips for over a week ☺️

Joining too, joined slimming world 2 weeks ago and 5lbs down, hurtling towards the week 3 weigh in and struggling a bit so need extra accountability. If I can shift 2 lbs by Wednesday I will get my 1/2 stone award!

timeforgin1 · 30/06/2019 17:46

I need this! I've lost just over 2 stone since October but my weight loss has pretty much stopped (I've been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid this year, and add to that my lack of willpower once the weekend arrives Blush). I'm now at 152 pounds so 7lbs in July would get me down to 145 lbs by our holiday at the beginning of August. Not where I'd like to be, but my bmi would be 'healthy' at last (and I'm desperate to get into the 140s!).

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 17:53

@YorkshireGoldFanClub well done you! Fingers crossed you get your award on Wednesday 👍, although I’m sure you’ll do it!

@timeforgin1 Great user name! What fantastic progress. Welcome to our little collective 😊

I've posted on the other lose 7bs in July thread (well, it's half a stone but that's the same) and don't really understand the difference. But this thread seems to be busier, so I hope you don't mind if I join you too!

I want to lose 49lbs in total, so 7lbs will be a seventh of that. I've already lost 91lbs in a year. But I'm feeling a bit fed up that I've worked so hard for so long and still have ages to go, so I could do with some motivation and accountability.

My weigh in day is Saturday.

Nishky · 30/06/2019 17:57

Can I join. Lost 3lb in May, 6lb in June and go on holiday on the 2nd August. 7lbs in July would be great.

Need to lose about another 3stones I total -am calorie counting and cutting out snacks by eating breakfast later

Steala · 30/06/2019 18:28

@LosingLola what an amazing weight loss! Well done! You can give us all tips as it's clearly working and we'll keep you company and keep you motivated. What method have you been following?

VeThings · 30/06/2019 18:40

I’d like to join too. I’ve been yo-yo dieting for the past year, never managing to take off the last 7lbs (I want to lose (already lost 1st the previous year).

I’m trying 5:2, limiting myself to one treat a day on normal calorie days, plus no food after 7pm on my low-cal/fasting days.

Need to start brushing teeth when I put DC to bed as that would stop me raiding the cupboards afterwards.

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 18:43

@LosingLola Crumbs Nearly 7stones!!! That is bloody fantastic. You’re an inspiration you are! 🌟

@Nishky that sounds like a plan! I usually only eat twice a day as can’t face food in the am. I know, I know it’s not recommended but needs must.

Anyways I thought I’d post a photo of my journey in numbers taken from an app I’m using. Let me warn you it isn’t a pretty linear line. It’s as chaotic as I am Grin. Time frame about 18 months. Slow going but downwards trend again.

@steala I was initially following SW, but now I have started calorie counting whilst mainly following SW principles. The SW diet is designed around eating lots of fruit and veg, with other "free" foods to make it into a meal. It gets a bad reputation due to some people's obsession with Mullerlights and the lack of portion control, but actually it's not a bad diet.

I've also started running (or Body Magic as SW call it). I've finished the Couch 2 5k plan and can now run for 30 minutes, but haven't done 5k yet. I'm currently building my distance up slowly. I did 2 miles in 30 minutes, then lengthened to 2.25 miles and now I run 2.5 miles each time. Next week I'll be increasing to 2.75 miles!

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 18:48

@VeThings I think you’re my twin too! I lost good and slow the first 10 months then yoyoing up to present day. This has got to change!

I’m planning and prepping tonight for this week, glugging my water and watching Kylie on the telly box at Glasto 😬

Thanks @busteddreams for the kind enthusiasm! And thanks for this thread, how lovely to see everyone here. I hope we can inspire each other.
@LosingLola you are an inspiration. Wow! As a pp said, tell us how you have stuck to it so far.
I may actually tomorrow morning find when I weigh that I have 9lbs to target not 7 Blush given my incessant picking this weekend. Oh well, I know I can do it with you lot cheering everyone on!

WhatALearningCurve · 30/06/2019 18:53

Same as @LosingLola I posted on the other thread but it's definitely quieter than this one

I'd like to join please. I have a 16 week old baby and I was very lucky in that I got down to pre pregnancy weight within a week or two.

Unfortunately my pre pregnancy weight was the heaviest I'd ever been and I was about to start a diet when I found out I was pregnant.

I keep fluctuating between 13 and 13 and a half stone and don't seem to be able to drop below 13 (admittedly I haven't tried very hard)

I've just weighed myself and I'm at 13st 4 / 186lb / 84kg but I'll weigh myself in the morning for a true starting weight (currently slightly hungover so eaten a lot of stodgy food today).

I lost nearly 3 stone two years ago and was under 11 stone. I'd love to do that again, i have major food issues in the form of ARFID so I struggle to make healthy choices but I find that Protein World meal replacement shakes work best for me however the motivation is sometimes lacking when I'm bored on maternity leave, it was much easier to not snack / eat loads when I was rammed off my feet at work!

In terms of exercise - has anyone used Kayla Itsines or Results With Lucy?

I plan on calorie counting using MFP and sticking to 1200 and under a day

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 19:07

@WhatALearningCurve Congratulations on your new baby 👶. How lovely! Well done on getting back to your pre pregnancy weight, that’s no easy feat. You’ve lost before and it’s in you to do it again. Get your brain in the zone and the rest will follow.

I’ve not used Kayla or Lucy sorry. I don’t do much exercise, it’s something I need to work on.

I started with Leslie Sansone Walk At Home - I initially did the videos on YouTube, and then I got bored of the selection and subscribed to her website at about £5 a month. She has videos of different lengths and intensities, but they're based around 4 basic steps so they're not difficult. I highly recommend them, but I've not tried Kayla or Lucy.

Rshard · 30/06/2019 19:22

I’d love to join in please!

I low carb and am on the boot camps but the current one is due to end 3rd week of July. The thread continues but is a bit quieter, so this thread should help keep me on track! We’re on holiday on 22 August, so I’ll hang around into an August thread too!

Good luck all!!

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 19:26

Hi @Rshard welcome aboard, its a friendly free style thread with one theme in common - to inspire & motivate each other in our goals.

Lovely ladies this lot.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 30/06/2019 21:23

Wow! Loads of new people! I can’t name check as I’m on my phone but how fab that we’re all supporting each other.

I started yesterday as my head just seems to be in the zone! Have eaten a little more than planned today as I was just hungry! Sensible choices and just bigger meals so I’m not bothered by finishing on 1374. I’ve walked miles today too.

Hope everyone’s feeling motivated for tomorrow - new month, new focus Star Star Star

Furble · 30/06/2019 21:36

@WhatALearningCurve Hello! I’m another new mum with a very similar starting weight to you! Welcome and good luck!

ShintyFartMuscle · 30/06/2019 22:18

Morning all

I’ve done my first weigh in, not as bad as. Thought it was going to be.

Today’s menu
Bircher muesli
Egg beetroot and hummus sandwich ConfusedConfusedEnvyConfused
Fish and roast veggies

Principle is protein in all meals carb at breakfast and lunch and loads of fruit and veg

Sharpkat · 30/06/2019 22:35

I am in. Have lost 13kg since the start of April but completely plateaued these last three weeks and still want to lose another 7kg.

Off we all go tomorrow!

FiveShelties · 30/06/2019 23:43

@BustedDreams
Thank you for the welcome and the links - going to read those after I walk the dog.

Have weighed in this morning (am in NZ) and the scales told me what I expected, 10 stone 9.4 pounds, so half a stone would be excellent. Am going to weigh every Monday which hopefully will keep me on the straight and narrower over the week-end.

chutneypig · 01/07/2019 05:04

Morning all. I’ve weighed in this morning at 63.1 kg. Yesterday was one of those days that could have gone better so here goes with the accountability.

I’ll be in need of that later, so will definitely check in. Planning for today is out of the window, normally in the week I plan everything.

I’m up early for my trip to work, a three hour drive. I’m In work this morning then off to France before lunch so I’ll have to make do with what I can buy on the trip. I aim for 1600 calories a day,. This thread will keep be focussed on making the best of that and I’ve also packed some healthy snacks. I should get plenty of steps in at least.

Foreverlexicon · 01/07/2019 05:24

Morning!
I haven’t weighed this morning as I weigh at weekends but I was 167.8 this morning.

Aiming for 160 on the 1st August!
I have a busy day ahead; got up early so I can take the horse for a ride before work and I have physical training at work today (basically a day of wrestling Confused) so it will be calories burnt galore!
