Lose 7lbs in July

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 07:41

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Missed me weigh in yesterday. Was down to 73.5kg this morning so 4.5kg down this month and 16.9kg down since 1st April so averages out at 1kg per week.

I need to get back to tracking calories and walking again. After a really bad week last week (24000 steps for the entire week as I was in bed with severe depression) I have realised that a million steps in July is still achievable

Well done to everyone so far. Let's keep going.

cheesenpickles · 24/07/2019 07:58

Down 0.8lb this morning though I think that's probably because I was so roasting last night I probably sweat that all out! Crazy thunderstorms as well. It was line a flash every three seconds and could see them even with the curtains and my eyes closed.

Tomorrow I'm away with dh for work and it's a set menu/lots of food/booze so fully expecting to gain a bit/feel bloody awful afterwards but it's a once in a lifetime trip so I'm ready to take the hit on that.

I've been going for a brisk 40 minute walk each night as well which is probably helping a bit. With the hot weather I've been burning around 200 calories a walk which is huge. It'll probably get harder as my weight goes down. Hope everybody has a good day and good news on the scales.

WhatALearningCurve · 24/07/2019 08:47

Back to Monday's weight today which I'm so happy about after this weeks binging.

I know I can shake this pound before Monday as long as I'm careful now about what I eat

BustedDreams · 24/07/2019 09:35

@Sharpkat that’s great progress!

@cheesenpickles every bit helps! Storms here about 3:00am. Spectacular lightening.

@WhatALearningCurve it’s brill when it comes off as fast as it goes on. Something I think it’s water retention due to some foods & salts encourage the body to hold onto fluid.

I’m still struggling today.
I’ve given myself a talking to and determined to knock out a good week before 1st August as I’d like to at least have a 4lb loss for the month so I’m keeping a 1lb per week average.

Foreverlexicon · 24/07/2019 20:28

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I have read the book and it is very helpful - I just forget the concept when I’m justifying to myself
Why I should eat something. Earlier in the month I was managing to at least stay in control even when I went over but that’s not been happening lately. I am overdue my time of the month so I’m hoping that will make an appearance as I do tend to want to eat everything in sight when that’s looming.

Some of you might find this article interesting.

In short it says waist size is a more important factor than bmi in calculating life expectancy.

0.4lb on this morning but had quite salty food yesterday and my cycle is all out of whack. Fully expecting to be up on Saturday when I next weigh but I'm a non-scale.., I'm not sure I'd call it victory.... my shorts just fell down on the way to the shop. Blush

WhatALearningCurve · 25/07/2019 08:56

12 st 5 today. 0.75lb down since Monday and only 0.25 to go till I lose a stone GrinGrin

butterwithtoast · 25/07/2019 09:27

Such good progress from you guys! I'm at -9lbs today. The losses have started to slow but as long as I keep at around 2lbs/week I'll be happy. And that's really interesting about waist size, might start measuring that too. I'm now back in to my pre-pregnancy jeans so definitely losing inches!

BustedDreams · 26/07/2019 07:34

@butterwithtoast that’s great progress. I agree the ladies on this thread have had some great losses and I’ve enjoyed reading about everyone’s experience. I must say it’s been a supportive thread too.

So I've put on a pound and a 1/4. But honestly I'm not surprised. I woke up this morning feeling so puffy and groggy and I think that's reflected in my weigh in. Another day of trying hard and hopefully I'll see results tomorrow

cheesenpickles · 26/07/2019 11:52

Just jumped on the scales after getting home. I've only had a coffee today but ate more than I have in ages yesterday (not to mention a few drinks) and I'm 1.3lb up. Thought I would be and I'm still down from the beginning of the week. So back on it as normal today with intermittent fasting and keto and hopefully I can carry on as was. Smile

LosingLola · 27/07/2019 10:01

I've done it!

Lost 1.5lbs this week, which takes me to 7lbs for the month and exactly 7 stone lost since I started.

I'm aiming for 2lbs next week as that would give me 100lbs overall.

cheesenpickles · 27/07/2019 11:13

Yes!!! Well done @LosingLola Smile I'm 0.6lb down this morning. Not quite back all the way down but we'll on the way. I'd love to lose 2 more lbs before July is out. Smile

BustedDreams · 27/07/2019 12:14

Hi ladies

As I’m away from Sunday I’ve already created August’s thread for those of you who wish to carry on. I’m hoping my link works!

August

When I weighed this morning I’m down to 139.6lbs and have achieved my goal of getting below 140. My bmi has reduced from 28.5 to 27.3 which I’m pleased about. This is the first Tim I been below 10 stones in years. I’m hoping it will stick. I’m being sensible, watching portion size and drinking my water.

@LosingLola fantastic! That’s awesome 👏

Change of plan. Travelling tomorrow. I’ve been batch cooking today to prep for healthy eating.

I’ve made Leek & Cauli soup for lunches and lamb curry and mini gluten free caramelised onion & cheese tarts for evening meals (with salad)

Maintaining under 10st which is good. Loss for July so far is 6.4lbs. Might get to 7lb. Might not. Nonetheless I’ve not seen under 10st for years if not over a decade. So very pleased with that alone! Still over weight but moving in the right direction.

Hoping you’ve all had a great weekend. Going to clean my kitchen now (with gusto) as looks like all the cupboards have exploded Grin

Fantastic to see how many are hitting around the 7lb mark. That 10st barrier is a milestone and a half @BustedDreams

I’m not anywhere near those losses but I wasnt expecting to be, the thread has helped enormously in seeing a downward trend. I weighed in at 61.8 kg this morning, down 0.7 from last week, also on my weekly average.

BustedDreams · 29/07/2019 08:46

@chutneypig that’s great, slow and steady is good and also seems to be more maintainable!

OP posts:
Ivy40 · 29/07/2019 08:49

I’m a bit late to the party on this one. Are you doing another thread for August?

I lost 1kg in July but would like to lose 6 or 7 kg more in total. Happy to aim for 3 kg in Aug.

BustedDreams · 29/07/2019 08:52

Good morning lovely ladies (I don’t think we have any gentlemen)

Three whole days to the end of the month. Not an insignificant amount of time. I’m continuing to be mindful about what I’m eating, watching portion sizes, staying hydrated and generally trying to move more (easier now it’s a bit cooler). Would like to lose about another half pound.

Come on ladies ... who doesn’t want to feel lighter, fresher, more energised and generally more healthy? We can do it!

Chickenitalia · 29/07/2019 09:13

Morning all, another pound off for me this week which brings me to 6lbs for July. Not sure that another pound is going to happen in 3 days, but I’m good with 6! Being realistic, losing a pound a week now is right as I don’t really have that much to lose overall, and with the kids off school I don’t think I can change much more.

On a very positive note, no alcohol since 29th June! This has made a massive difference to how I feel as well as getting rid of a huge calorie intake. We have visitors later this week and I know I will have a few glasses of wine, but I am interested to see how I feel with it. I know I cannot and do not want to go back to the way things were.

Will check in to the August thread but we are away for a few weeks of it and while I don’t want to gain loads, I’m not intending to be counting all the calories! But also likely to be walking more and busy so we will see.

Thanks for all the support and chat, well done you bunch of losers! Changing your mindset is the biggest challenge so even if losses have only been small, it’s all a step in the right direction. See you in August!
