Lose 7lbs in July

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 07:41

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Hi all. I’d like to join this. Going on holiday 19th July. Have left it too late really but needs a quick fix so that I can fit in clothes and wet suit comfortably. Will be using mfp to track calories. Will be aiming for 1000 cals a day. Vegetarian low carb. Hoping for a bit of mutual support and accountability on here. Good luck everyone.

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 19:18

@Lucked, @Chickenitalia & @Jollyholibobs welcome.

7lbs isn’t that much but it makes such a difference to silhouettes and how you feel.

If I am successful it will take me under 140lbs which is proving very illusive. For me to be in midrange bmi I need to get to about 125lbs Shock

Please! I also say I'll join and never stick to it. Am back up to my heaviest weight Blush

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 19:48

@GandalfTheGoat bless ya. You can but try. Have you asked yourself what is actually sabotaging your previous efforts? Comfort eating, low self esteem, self fulfilling prophecy, poor planning etc.

OP posts:
GandalfTheGoat · 29/06/2019 20:38

@BustedDreams all of the above! Haha. I do well for a while but i think i take it too seriously and then sabotage entirely.

I'm going to try and follow the SW plan but not sabotage myself if I have a bad day (ie turn it into a bad week).

I went through a break up a couple of months ago and hoped I would be able to do the 'new me' losing lots of weight but it's had the opposite effect so far! Will weigh on Monday and try and stay on track using this thread for support.

Foreverlexicon · 29/06/2019 20:50

@GandalfTheGoat I feel you on the break up! That lead to my weight gain but I finally started my dream job 3 weeks ago (it’s been a long wait) and that finally gave me the boost I needed to get cracking with this as I’m so much happier. It’s hard when your head isn’t in the right place.

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 29/06/2019 21:09

This is why I am carrying a few extra pounds of lard: someone brought cake into work and a little evil voice inside me kept whispering “you’re not overweight..... you’ll look churlish if you don’t eat birthday cake.... one small piece won’t hurt...”

I always cave and eat the cakes/treats/whatever unplanned crap arrives in front of my face and demands to be eaten.

Anyway. Inspired by this thread tonight I have WRAPPED UP THE CAKE and BROUGHT IT HOME. I might even just put it in the bin. I want a flat tummy more than I want cheap cake.

I feel triumphant Halo

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 29/06/2019 21:11

Finishing today on 1218.

125.8lbs this morning. I plan to get down to 119 by the end of July.

Chickenitalia · 29/06/2019 21:21

Oh well done @MikeHannigansStripyShirt throw that cake out for the birds!
I have ordered a load of Exante meal bars which will come tomorrow. I always struggle with what to have for lunch and am often busy so eat rubbish. Hoping these won’t be too grim and at least have some nutritional value. I do tend to just grab a creamy sarnie and the calories are stupid for what it is.

BustedDreams · 29/06/2019 22:44

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt bloody well done!

I’m going to use my Monday weigh in as my starting weight. Not had any alcohol or naughty treats so far this weekend.

Tomorrow - Chicken & salad main meal. Mushroom omelette lunch.

Coffee & cream in the am Grin

Can I join please? I’m going away 1st August and will be seeing lots of people who I haven’t seen for years so want to look much better than I do now. I’m at my heaviest I’ve ever been and have been promising myself for about a year that I’ll lose 1.5 stone before we go away. Now less than 5 weeks to go and I haven’t lost a single pound. Every Monday I tell myself “this week I’ll be good” but something always gets in the way and I’m too tired to exercise / too stressed to eat properly / too rushed to cook from scratch. All excuses i know, but it’s what keeps happening. I feel fat and wobbly and bleurgh.

I would love to lose 7lb before we go but I fear based on my track record, it just feels impossible.

ShintyFartMuscle · 30/06/2019 00:00

@Furble kind of jealous, nice to have the newborn snuggles, I also lost heaps with babies and probably at my lightest in the year after my second. Don’t stress look after you so that you can look after the baby

I can’t do the fasting, I get so hangry, but it seems to work so well for others not fair stampy foot emoji

@Chickenitalia I need the accountability too, I plan to pop in every morning and every night (and do the same with a new diary I bought Bridget Jones style)

Alcohol is also my downfall, the csiro diet allows for indulgence and so a glass of vino twice a week or so is my plan

@Wenchelda that sounds like me, I’m very jealous of you all going on holidays but this time I’m giving myself four or five months of this before hitting the beach

I’m an Englisher in Oz, so when I update how my days been you’ll be getting up and visa versa.

csiro is a scientific research department, they do everything space industry, fascinating if you’re a geek like me www.csiro.au

Their diet is what we’re all trying to do anyway sensible and cooked from scratch I find it a bit bland, but put in garlic ginger and chilli. There’s books so no need to join, but I have for the tracker and increased accountability. They also have cakes, I’ll post any good recipes

ShintyFartMuscle · 30/06/2019 00:08

Ha, just realised how late at night it is!!!!

coefficientquery · 30/06/2019 07:06

Hi all, may I join?

I loitered in the background on the June thread, started 1st June in a v similar position as @Chickenitalia. Managed to lose 8lbs in June, but have really stuck to it, and I can really tell the difference around my middle, feel loads better already about wearing summery clothes.

I am going on holiday in 3 weeks, so needed to get it off by then, I am hoping for another 3lbs over these 3 weeks, but no hope whilst I am away, it's all inclusive Grin.

I am in the zone though, so will keep at it with you guys if that is ok? Started at 11st, now 10st 6, need to be 10st 3lb pre holiday ideally.

chutneypig · 30/06/2019 07:21

Can I join too? I’m so pleased to have seen this pop up. I’m using MFP and balancing macros, which is resulting in a slow steady decline. But I’d like to be a bit more focussed. My biggest challenge is weekends, I work away in the week so can keep things on track normally, but it’s always tempting to eat more at the weekends. I’m also travelling a lot for work this month and that always throws things. Accountability will help!

DrDiva · 30/06/2019 09:17

I would love to join too, please! Have lost 2.5 stone and just the last half stone to go. A little friendly encouragement would be awesome. Smile
Alcohol also my downfall. Going to go for none during the week. Also trying to keep the Shred going - have managed a week so far, with one day off because I was ill.

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 11:12

@Wenchelda of course you can join us. Welcome :)

@ShintyFartMuscle thank you for the link, I will have a read.

@coefficientquery @chutneypig @DrDiva welcome aboard.

I’m envious of you all going on lovely sunny holidays ☀️. It’s very motivating to have a goal in sight.

I’m going to a wedding reception in August (not shopped for outfit as yet). Hoping to have lost the elusive 7lbs by beginning of that month! Fingers crossed.

Good luck lovelies 👍

Wow @DrDiva just reread your previous post. Well bloody done ✅ That’s awesome. You can do it!!!

FiveShelties · 30/06/2019 11:31

May I join too please? I have just got back home after a month away, I feel the weigh in tomorrow will be painful. Eating out virtually every night has taken its toll - I dread trying on my jeans tomorrow! So back to WW for me, dramatic reduction in alcohol - more water than wine Grin

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 13:32

@FiveShelties hop on board. Yes I agree our waistlines don’t appreciate it when we eat out too much. A few days of mindful eating will help get rid of any bloat and ‘false weight’ (fluid retention from too much salt and carby bloating). Water rather wine is a good start Grin

OP posts:
BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 13:40

This Might be helpful if you want to lose a bit of bloat quickly.

And This

OP posts:
Furble · 30/06/2019 14:12

Is everyone weighing in for the first time tomorrow morning? I’m thinking of trying to post menu plan for the day in the morning to hold me accountable and then report back later in the day on food diary and any exercise done.

BustedDreams · 30/06/2019 14:23

@Furble whatever suits you. I’m weighing in tomorrow (although I did have a sneaky peek today Grin)

OP posts:
Chickenitalia · 30/06/2019 17:00

I’m intending to do an ‘official’ start weight tomorrow. I like Monday’s as a weigh in day.
So far today I have consumed 400 calories. I was at work and dodged all the cakes and biscuits that seem to appear as if by magic.
Dinner is planned to be spag bol and I am weighing the pasta, I find 60g dry works as a portion for me.
No alcohol in the house so I can’t drink it!
My Exante bars have arrived so I will report back each day as to how they work out. There are a lot of offers finishing on their website at midnight tonight for anyone else interested.
I’m doing the food shop tomorrow so intend to sit tonight and plan it all out, a hectic week ahead with different things going on for the kids so I need to feel in control or it will all go to pot.
Good luck to all those weighing in tomorrow, we can do this! Xxx
