Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Back from being away from my scales. Weighed to find I’ve lost but I’ll be honest it’s more to with stress rather than 100% wise food choices. It’s been really lovely catching up on posts and reading about your losses. A very inspiring group of ladies!

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I hear you! I’m not willowy tall so like you my TDEE is low. Mines about 1400 so to lose I have to stick to about 1000. In regards Net calories on mfp. I’m not sure. Is it your cal intake after exercise calories has been taken off?

@WhatALearningCurve to be on track for a stone loss in a month is frankly bloody brilliant!!! You’re a 🌟 Sleep deprivation sucks for diets. I always want to eat more stodgy foods if sleep deprived. I hope it improves for you!

@cheesenpickles that’s great progress. I’m gluten free so naturally lower carb. I also like to have moderate protein and fat, not actually keto but definitely low carb. I feel less sluggish eating this way and my insides like it.

@Jollyholibobs have an awesome time 😎 on your holidays. Please come back, there could well be an August thread.

@Foreverlexicon it’s lovely when the tapes saying the right things. 2inch of waist is marvellous. I read somewhere to be considered healthy our waists need to be half or less of our height. I’m nearly there but not quite.

@LosingLola. Did I read right? Seven stone. SEVEN STONES. Wow 😮, that is fanbloodytastic!!!!!

@Sharpkat sorry to hear you’re not feeling great at the moment. I hope your knees feel a bit better. Pain is so draining and difficult to live with. Sending a hug 🤗 You’re still making great progress even when not at your best!

I’m up on my exercise and it is helping to get the scales moving in the right direction. I’ve had some stress eating but not in excess so still losing. I’m down about 4.5lbs so far this month. Not a lot but if it sticks I’ll be very pleased. Still 8 days to go so more progress can be made.

I’m going to be concentrating on making wise choices, getting plenty of water, keeping up with moderate exercise and trying to get more sleep.

Good luck all and have a great week!!!

Morning all, Monday weigh in a 68.3, which is only .1 less than Friday morning, but considering I had boozy dinner out and a bbq, I’m happy with that.

Heading on holiday this Friday and happy that I’ve lost nearly 3kg, being on this thread has helped loads. Thank you lovelies! I haven’t posted that regularly but always have a quick read through the thread.

Will do a final weigh in on Friday morning and hoping to hit 68.0, to reach my 3kg loss.

Have a great week Smile

WhatALearningCurve · 22/07/2019 08:37

I'm am beyond happy with this weigh in!

Start Weight

13st 4 3/4
186 3/4lb
87.4kg

22/07/2019

12st 5 3/4
171 3/4 lb
77.6 kg

I only need to lose 1 lb this week to have done a stone. I'm confident I can do that. I don't have much chance for walking this week so I'm going to stick properly to my calories

cheesenpickles · 22/07/2019 08:59

Morning all! Great losses everybody. I'm 0.4lb down this morning.

01/07/2019
187.6lbs

22/07/2019
177.9lbs

Total loss for July so far is 9.7lbs (just shy of 4.4kg) which I'm chuffed to bits at. I don't think I'll hit a whole stone but if I can get 2lbs more I'll be over the moon. I'm no longer in the obese BMI either and just overweight, hopefully I'll be in the acceptable range before too long. Woohoo!

This has been such a great thread. Definitely up for an August one. Smile

cheesenpickles · 22/07/2019 09:21

Also, measures my height at home three times now and I'm definitely over 5 foot 6!

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 22/07/2019 09:24

Amazing losses everyone! High fives all round for the dedication!

I weighed in at 122.8 (8st 10.8) down from 125.8 (8st 13.8) at the beginning of the thread. 3lbs seems such a small amount compared to others amazing losses but I also measured and I’m down 2” on my waist, 1” on my tummy and 1” from my bum. I’m so pleased with that because really I’m not bothered by my weight per se, it’s more about how my clothes fit and how comfortable i feel.

Being small, the waist measurement is particularly pleasing: I think the NHS has a generic “below 32 inches is healthy” for women but I know I could really tell the difference between 26” and 28” for me. I’m close to menopause and I’d rather go into it on lower end of normal than right at the top!

Anyway, I’m rambling. But congratulations to all those achieving brilliant losses, big or small. Star

BustedDreams · 22/07/2019 09:40

@WhatALearningCurve congrats on nearly becoming a stoner!! There has been a few this month. I’m in awe 😮

@cheesenpickles yes I agree. I would find an August thread very helpful. A no rules, no one size fits all, free style diet thread! For me it’s the collective group that I find inspiring and there is so much support. You’re a great height btw.

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt enviable waist size! It is so much better for you to be on it before the dreaded M strikes. Much easier before rather than post M.

I didn’t do very well over the weekend but got back on track yesterday. I’m feeling a bit frustrated as I feel like I’m working very hard but the odd off track day is still making my progress very slow.

cheesenpickles · 23/07/2019 06:59

Stepped on the scale this morning and was absolutely shocked. I've lost around 2lb overnight. I weighed myself three times just to check as well. I did just finish my TOTM and I went for a long walk yesterday/have upped my exercise a lot as well but considering that I'm losing pretty steadily anyway it actually seems a little bit... too much for one day? I feel absolutely fine and I'm drinking enough water, taking supplements and trying to stick to between 1000 - 1200 a day. Do you think I should try and eat a few more calories? It may go back on tomorrow but I want to make sure this is sustainable.

WhatALearningCurve · 23/07/2019 07:20

@cheesenpickles I seem to have put on 2 lb this morning so maybe I've taken yours ha.

Went to see family yesterday and despite starting the day with best intentions I ate far too much and I ate far too much stodge.

Going to try extra hard to combat this gain. Hoping it's just bloating and it'll be gone tomorrow

BustedDreams · 23/07/2019 07:22

Morning all 😊

@Foreverlexicon yes it is very frustrating!! I read a calculation about how much weight you could put on by just having 100 calories a day over your TDEE. 100!! It went something like this-

100 x 7 days = 700 cal per week extra
700 x 4 weeks = 2800 cal per month extra
2800 x 12 months = 33,600 cals per year extra

3500cals = 1lb fat

Therefore you could gain 10lbs in 1 year just having 1 biscuit over TDEE

It takes a deficit of 3500 to lose 1lb.

@cheesenpickles Are you hungry? What’s your BMI? How do you look? How do you feel? Plenty of energy? If all those aspects are ok carry on 👍 and well done you 👏

OP posts:
cheesenpickles · 23/07/2019 07:28

@BustedDreams Nope, not hungry and because I'm aiming for fatty satiated foods I'm effectively having to force myself to eat more. If I had just ate till I was full yesterday and didn't have a graze later on before bed I would have been on about 500 calories. I feel really good. Lots of energy. I went on my walk last night and kept wanting to run (wasn't dressed for it though). Sleeping great and mentally very clear. I think I'm so conditioned by the whole starvation mode/bad for your metabolism/organs thing.

My BMI is currently 27.9 (started at 32.6).

BustedDreams · 23/07/2019 07:47

@cheesenpickles are you lchf? Sounds like you could be in ketosis whereby your burning body fat for energy rather than glucose . But from your numbers you sound low in body fat. Idk.

OP posts:
BustedDreams · 23/07/2019 07:55

Sorry @cheesenpickles in misread your bmi ... yup I’d say in ketosis. Works for a lot of people and it’s reported your appetite naturally reduces with that way of eating.

OP posts:
cheesenpickles · 23/07/2019 07:59

@BustedDreams yep, I' doing One Meal A Day and sub 20g of carbs. I'm definitely in ketosis and think I'm fat adapted now as well.

BustedDreams · 23/07/2019 08:06

@cheesenpickles 👍

Stayed the same this week. At least I haven't put on. Struggling to get out in this heat though, desperately want to walk but it's too hot for the baby Sad

LosingLola · 23/07/2019 17:15

@BustedDreams yup, I am nearly 7 stone down in total. I just started one day and kept going.

@Thismummyruns the heat is problematic. You just have to try to do the best you can and make the best choices. If you can't walk outside, could you maybe walk inside or go later when it's cooler? If you're really crazy you could even get up early and walk before it's hot!

Foreverlexicon · 23/07/2019 17:51

My day to day meals are fine and I’ve never had an issue with maintaining my weight.

My problems stem from years of all types of disordered eating - binge eating over the winter made me put on this weight and i can’t seem to quite knock it on the head. Counting calories makes it worse but just trying to eat healthy means I justify far more treats than I should!

Been so hungry today and had a magnum as well so looking at 1800-1900 for the day. Not ideal but could be worse I suppose.

Lucked · 23/07/2019 19:06

I have been hiding from this thread, because I spent the later half of last week stuffing my face with anything I could get my hands on. Blaming it on a combination of a cold and PMT.

Anyway 2lbs back on this week so only 3lbs off since beginning of July.

Plan to get back on track this week

WhatALearningCurve · 23/07/2019 20:21

So I'd stopped posting my end of day numbers but I think I need to start again as my calorie intake is just creeping up and up.

I'm lucky in that there's still a deficit (albeit a tiny one) but I'm supposed to be sticking to 1200 cals. So in theory I could have easily had a 500 deficit and not gone 500 over what I want

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 23/07/2019 20:31

@Foreverlexicon have you ever listened to the Brain Over Binge podcasts? I’ve found them really useful.

@Lucked sorry for your cold Flowers I’m also just on 3lbs down. But it’s still 3lbs isn’t it?! Progress, not perfection.

@Thismummyruns hope you managed to get out for some fresh air

@WhatALearningCurve that’s an impression amount of exercise today!

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 23/07/2019 20:32

I’m finishing today on 1030 which I’m really pleased with

Chickenitalia · 23/07/2019 21:08

Busy weekend with work and the kids, I was another pound down this week so 5lbs off since the start of the month so far. I can’t help but feel a bit dejected somehow, I’ve been tracking everything and not cheating at all, it feels like more should be coming off! Trying to think positive tho. Still no alcohol for the month either, which I am pleased about. There is also a little bit of holiday dread creeping in, I’m worried I might go all out on the food for a fortnight and then be back to square one.

Well done on all the losses. This heat doesn’t help anyone I think!
