Lose 7lbs in July

Anyone else want to? I’d love some company.

I’ve been yoyoing the same 7lb for a while. I’d like it gone for good and then some.

I base my food intake around low carb, moderate fat & moderate protein. Think Mediterranean diet. I do watch my calorie intake too. I have the occasional tipple of alcohol. I generally don’t have processed foods and make meals from scratch. Although sometimes life gets in the way and needs must.

How do you intend to lose?

Any tips you’d like to share?

My tips are drink plenty of water and be mindful of portion sizes.

Brilliant loss @Lucked and I wish I had that level of discipline @Foreverlexicon.

Scales say I'm 0.7lbs down this morning which, with my adjusted height (Hmm) means I'm bang on a BMI is 30. Just a smidge more and I'm no longer in the obese category which is fantastic.

I did a bit purge of my wardrobe yesterday and got rid of my maternity wear, old clothes etc. Tried a few things on and was surprised at things that fit again. I've got a lot of old clothes I bought while I was at university that were from a celebrity's clothing brand at the time (my poor student loan) and I'm shocked at how tiny I used to be. The thing is because I've always been large chested I always saw myself as bigger. I think I was about an 8/10 but had to wear size 14/16 tops. I doubt I'll ever been that slim again but really puts into perspective how much I gained over a ten year period.

Hope everybody has a good day today. Smile

Morning all checking in.

1.4lbs down for me today 8.8lbs since 1st of July. So feel like the target I set myself of 9lbs before I go on holiday on Friday is achievable, maybe even a bit more.
The plan for today
Breakfast porridge with half a banana
Lunch M&S salad travelling back from meeting.
Dinner miso soup, poached egg and courgette with 0% Greek yogurt for pudding

Have a gym session this evening and will get quite a few steps in as I am going to London.

Jollyholibobs · 17/07/2019 06:52

Have a good day everyone

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 17/07/2019 07:47

Quick check in, lovely to hear everyone’s progress.

Yesterday I had just over 1400, previous 2 days 844 and 1124.
Chugging along Smile

WhatALearningCurve · 17/07/2019 08:31

12st 8 3/4 today which means I've lost the 3/4 of a lb I put on yesterday and extra 1/4 lb from Monday Grin

MorrisZapp · 17/07/2019 08:36

Do you lot have really good bathroom scales? I just have the ikea ones, they're crap. I notice you're on top of half pound gains and losses, do tell?

WhatALearningCurve · 17/07/2019 08:59

@MorrisZapp I have these ones www.argos.co.uk/product/8154776

cheesenpickles · 17/07/2019 09:10

We've got the Fitbit Aria 2 scales which I've been really pleased with. I was a bit nervous about switching to an Apple Watch because obviously it's linked to the Fitbit app and not compatible with Apple Health but because I use My Fitness Pal it automatically updates on that and feeds through to Apple Health. It does all the fat percentages etc but as far as I'm aware those aren't really accurate. There are cheaper WiFi enabled scales though.

Lucked · 17/07/2019 09:43

cheesenpickles being on the cusp of two BMI ranges can be both motivational and frustrating. I hope you get past it this week.

My fast day today is partly off as going out for a meal tonight but i will jus have the one meal today.

cheesenpickles · 17/07/2019 09:50

I know what you mean @Lucked. I thought I'd already hit it but at my health check they said I was 5 foot 5.5 or something rather than 5 foot 6 I've always been so it knocked me out of the lower BMI. Few more days and I should be good though and then just another 30lbs to be in the healthy range. I've not weighed this amount since I was about 25 though so already happy with that!

Thismummyruns · 17/07/2019 13:27

Place marking for accountability- I'm officially in the 14st bracket! Woohoo.

I've wanted this for weeks and is such a milestone for me.

14st 12lbs midweek unofficial weigh in. To celebrate I've been out for a 2 mile brisk walk to try and get the babe to sleep in the pram!

cheesenpickles · 17/07/2019 14:40

Struggling a bit today. Not eaten anything bad but of my job involves food and I'm being faced with the most incredible food porn images on Instagram and feeling a bit sorry for myself. Envy I know it'll all be worth it in the end but a picture of a new place's loaded fries topped with oodles of mozzarella and candied bacon is killing me. Confused

Thismummyruns · 17/07/2019 15:00

@cheesenpickles your job sounds amazing!
You had me at mozzarella

cheesenpickles · 17/07/2019 15:08

Haha. It's good fun but doesn't help my waistline much. Grin

Foreverlexicon · 17/07/2019 20:36

I had a different dinner to what I said; marinated chicken with cauliflower rice and stir fry rice.

And a penguin instead of chocolate mousse as getting sick of them but I like a little chocolate treat in the evenings! I don’t usually trust myself to keep anything chocolate in the house apart from mousse so let’s see if it’s a mistake...

Pleased I stayed on track today - had a horrible afternoon where my abusive ex decided to waltz back into life to attempt (but ultimately fail) to cause some major issues but I actually lost my appetite rather than comfort ate!

cheesenpickles · 17/07/2019 21:25

Well done on standing firm @Foreverlexicon and I definitely think a penguin was deserved!

Went off plan yesterday as my lovely DS decided to cook s meal for everyone. I arrived home from the gym to find her saved me some prawn curry. Delicious and no way was I going to discourage him by not eating it. It was a joe wickes recipe I think. Not sure on calories but scales are up 0.2 this morning.

Anyway back on the plan today.
As yesterday should have been today. No exercise except for walking involved in a meeting on site where I will go by train and walk at the end.
Have a lovely day everyone

chutneypig · 18/07/2019 06:37

I’ve been on plan all week and not a shift on the scales at all. I think I’m just feeling generally grumpy, I had planned a run this morning and it’s tipping down. Sometimes I’d just get out but I’m feeling a bit stiff and meh in general. More coffee and I might do an online body combat class. But definitely coffee first.

cheesenpickles · 18/07/2019 07:10

I'm 0.1lb down this morning so still moving in the right direction. Did have a cheeky takeaway last night as our living room is being redecorates and the downstairs is a bomb site. Desperate to start getting some exercise in but I'm either working or watching the kids at the moment. When the tv is back up I might try some of those 7 minute work outs I saw mentioned. Tempted to give c25k a go again but I need new headphones as I've got new piercings in my ear so I can't wear in-ear ones anymore. Hope everybody has a good day. X

WhatALearningCurve · 18/07/2019 08:50

12st 6 3/4 today.

HOWEVER didn't eat much yesterday as I was going for dinner and drinks with a few friends so I'm taking that weight loss with a massive pinch of salt because of the alcohol.

Not going to be able to yet many steps in today so going to try to be as strict as possible with my food so that the scales don't jump too far back up tomorrow

MikeHannigansStripyShirt · 18/07/2019 21:30

Bear with me, this might be a long one....!

I was 123.2 this morning, so down about 2.5lbs since start of thread, and I felt really disappointed. I’ve been under 1200 most days, with the odd sub 800 fast day chucked in, along with a couple of social or pms induced blow outs of 2500/3000. It feels like I should have lost lots more. But this morning I did some sums. My TDEE is only about 1600. So whereas I feel like I should be losing 3lbs a week, realistically I can only lose 1/2 to 1lb a week unless I stick to a drastic (ie 800) calorie limit every day. This might be really obvious to other people but it’s a revelation to me!! I half decided to just do 800 per day until our holiday but then DD made biscuits tonight and I didn’t want to hurt her feelings (plus they looked delicious, and were!) so I had a few and I’ve finished on 1186.

Is anyone else a short arse like me? I feel very thick for not realising up until now that I’m going to lose slowly due to a) being short b) being within normal bmi.

Chickenitalia · 18/07/2019 23:46

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt I know what you mean about it being a revelation regarding amounts to lose! I think this is why I’ve always preferred the online support groups. I’m a bit heavier than you at the moment but within normal for my height, which is not that tall 😁 and to lose any weight at all I have to stay under 1200 daily, with no alcohol. It can be immensely depressing to hear about weekly losses of 7lbs plus even when you know full well those people have a long journey ahead, also I have found no one ever really takes me seriously when I say I’m trying to lose weight, because I didn’t really look overweight even when I was (good clothes and I carry weight on my limbs, so body still looks slim).

Anyway. At my lightest I hovered around 9st, absolutely could not lose any more weight without starving and that felt like something of a slippery slope. I think your body does find its range and that’s where you stick, just depends if that’s where your head wants to be.

Foreverlexicon · 19/07/2019 05:47

Morning all

@MikeHannigansStripyShirt not entirely the same but I do sympathise - I used to work a manual labour job and all I needed to do to lose weight was eat vaguely normal meals without snacking on multiple cakes/muffins/100g chocolate bars etc and I’d lose 3lb a week. So I feel like I’m working very hard compared to the rate it’s coming off.

HOWEVER, it’s a marathon not a sprint and the time would pass anyway so I may as well lose weight whilst it does, it’ll just take longer.

Yesterday was a good day., Today will be a good day too.

I’ve been on target all week so hoping the scales will be kind to me tomorrow!

chutneypig · 19/07/2019 06:13

That’s a very good insightful @MikeHannigansStripyShirt. I’ve been stuck at 62.3 kg all week. I’m training for a half marathon so I’m trying to adjust to keep a daily deficit, from a base of 1600, but it’s a fine balance which I clearly haven’t trodden this week. I said to some friends yesterday that I was still trying to lose the baby weight even though they’re in secondary now. They did look a little startled but I’ve got a lot of fat on my stomach and I just don’t feel it’s healthy. Also lots of skin as they were twins and on the large side too.

Wise words though Foreverlexicon on the marathon! Hope the scales were kind this morning.
