Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

I've weighed this morning and I appear to have lost two pounds overnight which is very encouraging. I know it will just be water weight as I ate nothing but carbs all weekend but I already feel less bloaty and more positive. Good luck at the trade fair helen - I'm sure it will be fine!
For those of you who crave something sweet in the evenings I find that raspberries really help take the edge off the craving without dong too much damage to the diet.

Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 08:19

spot three yoghurts in one go is definitely a carb/sugar craving and will just make you hungrier. As above, try raspberries - they really help. TQBD I have also factored in an evening alcoholic drink as I'm too miserable without and hate feeling deprived.

rainydogday · 26/02/2019 08:33

Ohhh I have lost 2lb overnight too Grin I do feel hungry this morning and am fighting the urge to eat a giant bowl of some sugary crap......

twobambinos · 26/02/2019 08:41

People are making great progress on this thread already.
I'm not counting calories just cutting out the junk which will be a load of calories anyway.
Also trying to increase the exercise I used to be good pre Dc3 but lost my mojo. I did manage a walk yesterday and that took me to over 10000steps so I was very pleased

Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 08:50

Well done rainydog that's great. Don't succumb after making great progress - have something healthy instead!!!
twobambinos if you've got three small children it's virtually impossible to do much exercise. If you don't have time for a long daily walk you could try doing ten minutes of HIIT which is apparently just as effective as longer periods of less strenuous exercise.

O4FS · 26/02/2019 09:13

Rainydogday - I find the best 800 days are when i’ve Logged what I intend to eat the day before.
Today it’s:
2 coffees (one too many already)
1 x med egg
50g smoked salmon
Spinach
Soup
Tandoori chicken salad
1 sq 80% choc
Black coffee/chamomile tea

I find a lot of Slimming world recipes lend themselves to this way of eating too.

I’m trying to keep carbs to 25%.

beela · 26/02/2019 09:20

Hello! Can I join please? I currently weigh 61kg, would like to get to 58kg but (apart from for 1 week back in October) am finding the 60kg barrier very hard to break!

I'm not into calorie counting but I am cutting out the snacking, sugar and alcohol, and cutting down on the carbs.

I started yesterday, going well so far but I've got a foody weekend coming up so need to be saintly this week!

Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 09:24

beela welcome! I also need to be good this weekend but I'm away staying with family and there will be lots of puddings and stodge being offered.
Sorry if I seem to be posting here a lot but the more accountable I am on here the more conscious I am of what I'm eating as I go off piste so easily!

Harumphharagh · 26/02/2019 10:45

Omfg post half term weigh in and I’m somehow 11 stone 6! The heaviest I’ve EVER been!!! (Apart from pregnancy). Okay, we’re on, I’m going to fast in the mornings and try and do limited calories/lower carbs at same time.

Hope this group keeps up as I need this and it’s so helpful reading everyone’s posts!

helenb706 · 26/02/2019 11:04

Welcome.... I pledge not to quit. Good day so far and reminding myself how miserable I was when I wasn't doing this... ie last weekend, keeps me going.

Hi all

Can I join? I have put on a stone in the past year but also 2 stone overweight in total :( tackling it one stone at a time. I started last week and have lost 1lb which is not a lot but slow and steady wins the race....apparently! I did have an afternoon tea though Hmm. I am tracking on MFP. The real eye opener is that I generally eat very clean mon-fri but my portion sizes have been far too big. I have then been awful at the weekends and undone it all plus added damage! I am trying to get to the gym 3 times per week minimum but I have always been fairly active so the focus for me is definitely on eating less. I have a holiday in 8 weeks with various weekend events along the way so I need this thread to be held accountable.

Whereareyouspot · 26/02/2019 11:12

@helenb706 hope the fair goes well!

@beela we are identical sizes and goal!
We can do it!

I started well and although wasn’t desperately hungry I sat and had breakfast as knew I was off cycling.
Had Greek yoghurt with some frozen berries and a sprinkle of Splenda (I know it’s shit but I’ve a sweet tooth I need to crack!)
At work now and had two coffees and I’m getting hunger pangs boo as I’m sat still doing some written stuff.

The busier I am the less I think about food.
I think that’s my problem in the evenings.
Most days I’m on my feet dashing about day so when I stop at night I start eating and can’t stop!

I have a banana nakd bar on me to have about midday as won’t get lunch til mid afternoon.

Whereareyouspot · 26/02/2019 11:14

I’m tracking my food in a diary but also noting my hunger level before I eat and whether I am sitting and enjoying it or rushing and eating on the move.

I might weight daily actually as then it’s less shocking. I hadn’t weighed for months before I got on the scales recently and it was a horrible shock even tho I knew I’d gained.

OhHelp0hNo · 26/02/2019 11:17

Hi everyone, can I join in too?
I'm an embarrassing 16st 11lb, so I need to lose a total of 5.5 stone Shock
I lost 2.5 stone last year but all but 1lb of that has gone back on Sad
I started back on weightwatchers yesterday, hoping to lose a stone before my holiday in 7 weeks time. It's going to be tough but it's possible!

beela · 26/02/2019 12:02

Right, I've been spinning and now I am eating a healthy beetroot and quinoa salad for lunch. So far so good.

@whereareyouspot we so can! Bring it on! I've just found your posts up thread and it looks as though we are following the same plan too - I need to eat mindfully as well. No more snacking on the ingredients whilst I am cooking, or eating up the kids' leftovers.

A 25 mile cycle to work though Shock how long does that take?

Whereareyouspot · 26/02/2019 12:05

It’s actually about 14- 16 miles each way depending on route my maths is off!
Takes just over an hour depending on traffic so it’s fine.

O4FS · 26/02/2019 12:15

OhHelpOhNo, don’t be embarrassed! I’m just greedy, and I treat myself with food. My eating since Xmas has been out of control. I’ve still got tons of Xmas chocolates left and after a sterling attempt to ‘clean them up’ (which resulted in a stone on) it’s about drawing a line, and looking ahead.

Eating mindlessly is also a problem for me. I graze while I cook dinner. I work at home so am always around food and I know what’s in. The Cadbury’s caramel buttons were bothering me last night so I ate them. 🤦🏻‍♀️ After a really good day too. But I didn’t have my dinner ready so I ate what I was cooking the DCs (chicken tikka masala with rice) as I was cold, tired, hungry and I still had DCs to pick up from activities.

Planning, recording, control and mindfulness. I need to treat this like a project.

beela · 26/02/2019 12:16

Interesting - my work is a similar distance but I've never had the guts to cycle it. Maybe I should give it a go now its getting lighter. I would love to combine exercising with achieving stuff (like getting to work).

beela · 26/02/2019 12:19

@O4FS I do much better if I have planned what I am going to eat for each meal. Fail to plan = plan to fail, etc etc.

OhHelp0hNo · 26/02/2019 14:45

O4FS, yep greediness is my downfall! My biggest weaknesses are snacking on chocolate in the evenings (I say snacking, I mean binging!) and leaving it too late to cook dinner so I'm tired and order a takeaway or get co-op pizzas instead.

I think being organised will really help with the second issue, and allowing myself a small treat in the evening will help with the first one.

I also really need to do some exercise, I work from home too so I just sit on my arse most of the day. I've done a HIIT workout today for the first time in months and the scales say 2lb off in 24 hours Grin

How's everyone else getting on?

TQBD · 26/02/2019 15:24

Managed to stay on track so far which is boding well...

2 slices whole meal toast with full fat cream cheese
2x cups of tea
Hummus and mini breadsticks
Cup of coffee
Cup of tea
Leftover pasta bake from last nights dinner

I’m gonna grab some after on the way back home and then fish pie for dinner.

Feels VERY carby but I live for pasta, toast and potatoes so if I can track calories instead I think it might suit better.

TQBD · 26/02/2019 15:25

Ohhelpohno - I feel your pain, I’m in the car or at a desk all day so rarely get above 3k steps.
I dragged my dogs out for a quick walk round the park last night and got to just below 6k which helped!

notevenamum1 · 26/02/2019 15:53

Good day here too.

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled with soy sauce (yum!)
Lunch: Half bag uncle bens mexican rice, tin of tuna and veg
Dinner: Going to be a boring one today of pan fried chicken breast, baby potatoes and broccoli
Snacks: Small plate of mixed fruit (this was from a lunchtime meeting where sandwiches and crisps were also on offer but I managed to avoid!)
Drinks: 2 coffees and 2 teas

Calories for all of the above come to 1,300.

I walk 40 mins to work and back each day and going to the gym tonight too even though I did not sleep well and I am ever so tired :(

twobambinos · 26/02/2019 16:07

Got the long walk in again today so I'm very happy.
Having no junk in the house is the way to go if it's not there I can't eat it Blush

Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 16:07

This is so motivating! Having a good day so far and snacks have been mainly nuts. Trying to drink as much water as possible which always helps keep my appetite in check and has the added benefit of making me look less tired. Will exercise tonight.
