Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

@mutley I really struggle with portions. I have a huge appetite and it’s so hard to reset it when you are used to a big plateful and then seconds.

Angeladelight · 25/02/2019 13:15

Good start today, I am trying to only eat between 12pm and 8pm daily, and will have a go at doing the 800 cals/day twice a week. Had a lovely salad and bread for lunch that DP made me, but I am out for an event tonight so need to navigate how to eat reasonably healthily! Confused

Needmorewine · 25/02/2019 13:57

Please can I join ? Last stone off baby weight here to lose. Currently 9.9 and would love to be 8.9. Need to commit to exercise x4 a week and cut out the sugary stuff / white carbs . Need some accountability !

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 25/02/2019 14:03

I’d also like to join. Gained 2 stone with DD2, lost one stone and need to get the last one off to fit in all my nice summery clothes. I either find it really easy and lose weight very quickly when I’m in the zone, or I just can’t get in the right mind set and nothing comes off for months. I don’t put on weight thankfully I just stay the same.

Eattothebeat · 25/02/2019 17:49

I'm the same thewinehasgone - I'm either totally in the zone and being super good or I am being horrendous and hoovering up all the bad stuff. Day 1 has been pretty good and I've avoided all carbs all day apart from about a third of a slice of brown bread and butter which I allowed myself as if I hadn't I think I'd have fallen headfirst into a six pack of Walker's crisps so it was a preventative measure. I know from previously that after a day or two the craving for carbs starts to get less so I just need to ride out the next couple of days and I should be totally in the zone.

rainydogday · 25/02/2019 18:44

So..... have been using MyFitnessPal to add up my calories. Had my breakfast at about 10. I made the fast800 spiced stewed plums with yogurt and toasted flakes almonds....they were delicious! I would never normally eat that for breakfast but will do now. The pea & mint soup was nice, I had 100g of cherry tomatoes and a Diet Coke for my 3.30pm snack (my usual sugar fix time). Chicken and udon noodles for tea. Calories= 450! 😱 Olives for tv snack to be added 😳 Feel saintly! 😇

Whereareyouspot · 25/02/2019 20:08

Day went well- stuck to meals and one post exercise snack- sat down to eat every meal and savoured it. Didn’t snack in car.

Healthy tea.

Went downhill after tea when I stood at the freezer eating ice cream and then hoovered up some leftover cake from kids supper and a load of yoghurt. Bah! Going to stop eating now (mainly as I feel bloated and full tbh) but 80%of the day went well so just got to crack these evening cravings. It’s like I have tea and then just go in search of more food even tho I’m not really hungry. I don’t feel satisfied until I’m totally stuffed.

Whereareyouspot · 25/02/2019 20:09

@rainydogday so is that 800 calories all day? How do you feel? Other than saintly! I mean are you full?

helenb706 · 25/02/2019 20:28

Well done all... I guess we knew this wouldn't be easy. I am more motivated than ever after spending over a hour trying to find something I feel good in for a work trade show tomorrow. I lack confidence anyway but I have even less when this size. Real motivation to get my act together. Food all good today and a dog walk/spin class. Husband drinking wine... I am not!

Whereareyouspot · 25/02/2019 20:57

Well done Helen!

rainydogday · 25/02/2019 21:27

I ate 700 apparently Confused I even added the left over pulled pork the kids left! I didn't feel hungry, I must admit I could do with a cuppa and biscuits now - but have had a satsuma Shock I think I don't actually eat very big portions but am terrible at snacking. Well done everyone! Roll on tomorrow. Are you doing daily weigh ins?

maloofhoof · 25/02/2019 22:00

I'm ending today on 955 calories. I'd be happy with that if I hadn't succumbed to a kitkat and a slice of white bread. Was so good and careful all day then sabotage myself with sugar and carbs. This is where I fail every time.

Whereareyouspot · 25/02/2019 22:21

Oh wow you lot are really low calories. Will you do that every day?
I feel worse now.
Thought I’d been good but actually altho I haven’t calories counted I’d easily be 1300 maybe more.
Have done a tonne of exercise but even so.

Feel like I have no willpower and just can’t manage tiny portions Sad

Sigh. Might need to go this alone

rainydogday · 25/02/2019 23:12

Try MyFitnessPal it just helps you decide if you do really 'need' to eat 5 wagon wheels 😳 yes I have done that before and entered it..... i do it on & off and is just a little reality check. I really didn't know how many calories were in certain things. I think doing it full time is hard work. I am doing the limited calories for a week just to kick start things. Remember they say it's 80% food 20% exercise Wink

Harumphharagh · 25/02/2019 23:16

Joining in at 11st2! Am very tall so 10st 2 would be like heaven. Starting tomorrow, you’re all very motivating!

Drizzlehair · 25/02/2019 23:24

Can I lurk and semi join you?

I could really do with losing two stones, but half a stone by Easter and another half by summer would be a nice start. I have always been about a stone over, plus another stone I haven't quite lost from babies.

I'm starting late as I just ate a huge bag of crisps, but tomorrow onwards I'll be good.

Any advice on an easy calorie tracker app much appreciated. I don't do much exercise except martial arts once a week but I don't drive so manage 10,000 steps easily most days, fairly often double that.

I am trying to get into the habit of some pilates types exercises in front of the TV in the evening, I can't eat crisps whike I do exercises, so any good eg YouTube vids for those appreciated too!

Oh and I did park run on Sunday and feel about 95 as a result. Need to go weekly, not once a quarter...

maloofhoof · 25/02/2019 23:33

I'm aiming for 1100 calories or less a day. My main focus is cutting right back on all obvious carbs. I literally do no exercise, I barely manage 2500 steps a day, so need to fix that.

maloofhoof · 25/02/2019 23:35

Drizzlehair i use a tracking app called Lose it, I get on with it better than my fitness pal.

Hellomumsne · 25/02/2019 23:43

Ooh I'll join you! I'm also 10.7 and want to be 9.7. I started off well by skipping dinners and lost a bit of weight but fell off the wagon when I started a new job three weeks ago. My only workout time now is before work but it's still dark and I can't get my head round the gym before work and when to shower etc.

helenb706 · 26/02/2019 04:02

Whereareyouspot... others may count calories and be going really low. I'm not doing either - by cutting out snacks and keeping carbs low you will by default cut your calories and thus lose weight. Some
will go fast some will take longer but ultimately a stone makes a huge difference but is very achievable by summer. Those who want to get rid of a second stone will be 50 per cent there so great motivation. Don't beat yourself up or give up... stay with us.
Rainydogday. I am going to weigh in every day as I need this discipline but recognise the important one is weekly as there will be ups and downs. I am aiming on a Monday to keep me straight over the weekend.

OP posts:
Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 06:46

Feeling motivated this morning!
I am not counting calories either - I'm just cutting out carbs which in turn will reduce my appetite so I naturally eat less. I will probably weigh every three or four days as weighing daily can demotivate me if I think I'm doing well and find out I've gained!

I'm going to do an hour of exercise tonight but not sure what yet but will try and really make it count whatever I decide on!
Going to have boiled eggs for brekkie again as they seem to fill me up well.
Have a great day everyone and drink loads of water!

Eattothebeat · 26/02/2019 06:52

whereareyouspot 1300 is absolutely fine for losing weight so don't feel despondent. I probably ate more than that yesterday whilst low carbing but I still feel good and motivated this morning and my tummy has deflated.
Re eating smaller portions, I would suggest if you have a big appetite that you just add loads of veg to your plate so you still feel like you've had a good meal. You can do this!

Whereareyouspot · 26/02/2019 07:10

I eat absolutely loads of veg! Seriously I could eat about six portions of it in one go I love it.
Eat pulses and the like too. I really do tend to want really healthy food.
I don’t like pasta, limit rice and potatoes.
Haven’t had a roast potatoe for ten years!

It’s the other bits and the volumes in general. I can have three yoghurts in one go.
I eat very little meat and a youth of hearing from rosemary Conley et al means I struggle with fats even tho I know the science tells me I need them. Maybe I need to work on that.

I was pleased yesterday with eating very mindfully and sitting for each meal and enjoying it not picking as I move.
But I still fell down after my evening meal.

New day today.
My Tuesday work commute involves a 25 mile cycle and I’ll walk about 4 miles this evening too. Usually manage a body pump class whilst littlest kid swims.

Got to distract myself after evening meal that’s the key.
I just feel like a huge glutton as I know I would obsess about food all day if I only ate 800 calories. Even if I was full I would seek out extra food as I would know I could have more iyswim.
The psychology is so complex to me.

Good Luck today everyone.

TQBD · 26/02/2019 07:14

Oh me too please. I’m just tipping over 10st and would like to be around 8.5-9st.

Good day yesterday, came in under 1300 calories and still squeezed a glass of wine in. Current food plan for today is 1109 so space for a slip and still being under 1300.

Good luck!

helenb706 · 26/02/2019 07:42

Whereareyouspot... we are so similar! I have been veggie since 6, love healthy food but graze after tea. I am going to get myself into a box set ... episode every night around 9pm to have something to look forward to and take my mind off grazing. One more day of sunshine to inspire then a few weeks of layering(hiding) preparing to emerge as a beautiful (maybe pushing it) butterfly when the weather returns. Wish me luck... trade fair without confidence (hence middle of night insomnia) and evening curry...
