Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

Oh dear @spot Sad try not to worry too much. Could you try to limit damage by following no-s principles? No snacks, no seconds, no sweets (desserts)? Eating to appetite sounds a good plan too.

I had a weekend full of pick & mix, chocolate, fish & chips and cider (not all at the same time). I got in some hiit and some long walks as well to slightly balance it out.

Back on plan today. I am trying out the pinch of nom cookbook this week; ds helped me make a meal plan, he is most excited about the diet coke chicken he has chosen for tonight (it sounds disgusting! But you have to try these things, right?)

Whereareyouspot · 08/04/2019 08:49

I’ve got that cookbook @beela
Got to be honest I’ve been a bit underwhelmed with some of them- not enough flavour for us

The pork and lentils was good
The faux doner kebab was dry and flavourless.
The balti wasn’t great either and a LOT of work for a supposedly easy after work meal. I make a healthy curry that has much more flavour.
The baked lemon oats went down well for breakfast tho.
Haven’t tried the Diet Coke chicken yet so let me know!

sparklyglitterball · 08/04/2019 20:20

Well done everyone. Spot, I feel your pain. It's tricky when you're staying with family/friends and can control your diet. Although I often find eating richer food such as the buttery mash etc you mentioned, means that I eat smaller portions. Maybe that could help with damage limitation? My weekend wasn't too bad diet wise. I made a slimming world Thai green curry from their fakeaway recipes that always feels like a treat. Did go out for lunch yesterday which was Mexican, but tried not to overdo it. I've done 16 thousand steps today plus a circuits work out class.

Eattothebeat · 09/04/2019 06:40

Sounds like life has challenged a few of us (me included) over the last few days. Never mind - all we can do is keep fighting the good fight and eventually we will see some results.
It's me who is 5'7" by the way.
Yesterday wasn't great as I'd allowed myself a few more carbs than usual at the weekend and was rewarded with a big appetite yesterday. Normally because I avoid carbs I never get really hungry but as soon as I have them I get the most enormous appetite. Although I realise this is carb addiction it's still impossible to ignore.
I'm back to it today and avoiding those pesky hunger inducing carbs again.

MorrisZapp · 09/04/2019 08:16

I've made a few changes. Bought the weighted hula hoop, have very tender hips today! Also found a lovely YouTuber called fabulous 50s, I have done her five minute arm workout and intend to do it every day.

Walked 20000 steps yesterday (and I will walk 20000 more :)) and my gym running is ramping up too.

Managed to eat a tesco sandwich yesterday without having crisps with it, first time in my life! I survived.

No further loss but my jeans are looser and I feel a good new loss coming. Sunshine helps!

MorrisZapp · 09/04/2019 08:17

FYI I'm 47, 5 foot 3, and at Christmas I weighed 11 stone 6.

Currently 10 stone 10, aiming for 10 stone.

waistaway · 09/04/2019 08:51

I was still 10st 3lbs this morning despite overindulging at the weekend. I felt terrible yesterday so I didn't bother weighing in. Had fish and chips for dinner on Sunday and that was about the healthiest thing I ate all weekend. I had a few Heineken 0s on Sat. night and I was bloated like a balloon until yesterday evening.

I have a Davina McCall weighted hoop from Argos and I love it. It took me ages to get the hang of it but I can easily do 15 minutes without stopping now.

Eattothebeat · 09/04/2019 09:44

It's all sounding a bit more positive this morning which is good. I am going to aim to do a HIIT session tonight to get things moving. I managed a run last night too so hopefully I will soon have reversed the weekend damage! Let's keep this momentum up as we head to Easter.

Eattothebeat · 10/04/2019 08:19

Morning all! I did my HIIT last night and again just now and hoping to get a run and HIIT in this evening. I know it sounds like I'm doing loads but the HIIT is very easy to fit in as I have some weights at home so I just do it when I get chance. I often change in to my workout gear when I get in from work and put my weights out so that when I manage to psyche myself into the right frame of mind I'm all ready to go with no excuse not to do it.
Feeling motivated again food wise after I ate too many carbs at the weekend. My appetite has shrunk back to normal again which is good as I was like a woman possessed on Monday. How is everyone else getting on? Hope you're all doing ok? If not, draw a line under it and jump back up on the wagon.

beela · 10/04/2019 08:35

Morning! Hiit is great to fit in but it's all the showering and gym clothes washing that takes the time for me!

I did a tough spin class yesterday, found it quite hard but registered more calories than normal, plus i have since come down with a cold so that explains that.

I've fallen into a bit of a sugar pit this week, I maybe just need to go cold turkey again to get out of the habit. But it is so delicious Blush

Eattothebeat · 10/04/2019 17:34

I try to do mine before I shower on a morning so I don't have to have another shower beela

Sugar is the work of the devil and best avoided as for me, once I have a little bit I can't control the urge to eat more.

beela · 10/04/2019 18:01

Hmm. Same. I need to wean myself off it again. Savory all the way for me for a few days.

sparklyglitterball · 10/04/2019 20:42

I'm a sugar/chocolate fiend. But when I'm being good/focused I allow myself a little treat for the evening once kids are in bed, and avoid for the rest of the day apart from fruit. Seems to work most of the time!

MorrisZapp · 10/04/2019 21:50

I'm on a two day mini break with DP and DS, so it's very much damage limitation but I've surprised myself how easy it's been.

I've had my normal breakfast (all bran!), a sandwich for lunch with no crisps (insert angel emoji here) and tonight at Pizza Express I had the one with the hole in the middle and a light ginger beer.

So not exactly rabbit food, but I don't think I'll regain. Oh and loads and loads of steps! UK breaks are good for that :)

beela · 10/04/2019 21:58

I was on a slippery slope with the sugar / carbs earlier, and was half way to convincing myself that a hot cross bun would be a sensible evening meal choice Hmm I managed a u-turn on that one and had an omelette with lots of veg and a salad instead. Phew. Feel like I've caught myself in time! I will be back on the case tomorrow.

Eattothebeat · 11/04/2019 06:27

Another day another diet (well same one but you know what I mean). Managed 45 mins of exercise last night and hoping to do some more shortly.

Well done on the holiday restraint morris and the hot cross bun beela
Someone had brought loads of creme eggs into work that I managed to resist although I noticed my colleague who I share a bin with had indulged liberally.

waistaway · 11/04/2019 09:37

I was 10st2lb this morning. I just looked back and I joined the thread on March 19th and I was 10st 7lbs then. There's no doubt it was the snacking that was my problem. I haven't eaten a cracker since I joined the thread. I'm also not constantly grazing on fruit during the day. I know weight loss will probably slow down a bit now but if I could see a weight under 10st i'd be so happy.

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2019 13:11

Omg 10.8 today!! I'm over the moon as I'm still on holiday, ducked into boots this morning and apparently I've lost two pounds since yesterday? I know it's smoke and mirrors but bloody hell ill take it.

One more pound and that's a stone since Christmas! Destination ten on the nose.

This thread (and the hot young whippersnapper in the office) is such an inspiration!

Gonna do a long run this evening. I am ON IT.

beela · 11/04/2019 14:07

Amazing @morris!

I'm still caught in a sugar trap. I blame the easter egg that dd won on in a raffle at the weekend, we ate it and it's sent me down a baaaad path! I feel really bloated and I daren't weigh myself Sad

MorrisZapp · 11/04/2019 16:04

I eat chocolate every day. Lots less than I used to, but I still have some. Usually a curly wurly. If I had to cut that out I'd weep.

Eattothebeat · 11/04/2019 17:52

I don't eat sugar at all and don't miss it - all it does is make you hungry for more sugar (in my experience). I do however have a large bowl of raspberries with extra thick double cream every day and if I had to cut that out then I'd probably weep as well.

beela · 11/04/2019 19:55

Raspberries and cream might work actually...

Pinch of Nom update: we have tried the campfire stew, diet coke chicken, and the beef fettuccine. All pretty tasty but a bit samey. Good for family meals (if your dc are a bit lazy like mine and cba to chew!). I tried the baked oats too, preferred them cold the next day. I didn't use sweetener though, I put in some maple syrup instead.

Overall... It's OK. I prefer the Joe Wicks recipe books on the whole. But I'll keep experimenting.

MorrisZapp · 12/04/2019 08:10

Eattothebeat, are you doing low carb? I'm doing calories so no cream for me but I do put a sprinkle of brown sugar on my rasps, and let them macerate before munching.

sparklyglitterball · 12/04/2019 14:18

Well done 👍 you're all doing so well. I've been pretty good all week but having one of those times when the weight just won't shift and I'm feeling bloated. My 5 month old dd is currently teething and not sleeping well, so I'm really sleep deprived 😔 already had two of my Mother's Day chocs today..........craving sugar for the energy! Hopefully redeeming myself by making a slow cooker ratatouille which we'll have with some fish and baked gnocchi tonight.

beela · 13/04/2019 06:43

I'm feeling more positive as I managed a very sensible and sugar free day yesterday, despite working from home with open packets of chocolate and half a cake in the kitchen Shock
