Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

I've done pretty well today, although I succumbed to a teeny bit of cake leftover from yesterday.

I've started c25k, it's been so long since I did any proper running that I decided to start from scratch. Anyway, today was session 1 - according to my fitbit I burnt more calories in 25 minutes of walk/running than I normally do in half an hour of hiit Hmm I never eat my calories back so it doesn't really make much difference, but I'm definitely more sweaty and breathless after the hiit! Spinning tomorrow, that is definitely a calorie burner.

Whereareyouspot · 01/04/2019 19:30

Icebox been so much better today
Done a ten mile run and two HIIT classes and about to walk the dog four miles

Have had some yoghurt and berries and then just some quorn turkey slices and an apple for lunch (I know the apple is sugary but had to head out and couldn’t think what else I could just grab?) and nothing else yet other than a cuppa.

Weirdly not that hungry either- no doubt yesterday’s cake is still in there!

But I was still 58.4 on scales at lunchtime so hopefully 61kg won’t ever appear again!

Not far til 57kg now really.....

Well done everyone in some steady losses and some pulling it back after not such good days
Remember it’s the long game!!

sparklyglitterball · 01/04/2019 20:42

Well done to everyone, you're all doing brilliantly! I'm struggling today after a few Mother's Day treats over the weekend. Also think I'm coming down with dd's cold, which always makes me feel more hungry than usual for some reason. Probably having more carbs over the weekend has increased my appetite. So will get back on track tomorrow with low/no carb lunches to try and break that cycle. I did do a circuits class today plus a fair bit of walking, so at least the exercise side is good. Off to bed soon so I can't be tempted by the box of Thornton's in the kitchen 😐

MorrisZapp · 01/04/2019 21:16

Yes I got mothers day chocs too! Rose and Violet creams, my fave. Genuinely don't know what to do with them, I've trained myself out of evening goodies.

Thisimmortalcurl · 01/04/2019 21:26

You are all doing so great .
I’ve done okay today but honestly since last Thursday I have been on a complete binge so am very scared off the scales tomorrow.
My body gains so fast and I don’t do it any favours when I’m in that mode .
However , I’ll focus on this week and you are all being very inspiring

Thisimmortalcurl · 01/04/2019 21:29

@MorrisZapp .. I got Hotel chocolate patisserie collection for my birthday, humongous box .. there are two left !
If you can imagine cheesecakes and shortbreads and carrot cake in chocolate form they are just that.
They are my ultimate chocolates .. when I get to 8/4 .. they will be my prize

Whereareyouspot · 02/04/2019 07:04

@Thisimmortalcurl
Would it help you to weigh and know the damage and get back on it or would you be better to avoid the scales until you have had a really good week?

I got in the mindset yesterday that every single meal is a choice and bad ones over the last few days don’t dictate the ones still to come!

My period is due again soonish (long random cycle) so I can feel the bloating and that will set me off course

Does anyone else get that is they FEEL slim they eat better but if they feel bloated and bigger they start eating worse?
Also get PMT cravings so must dig deep.

MorrisZapp · 02/04/2019 08:03

How are we all approaching birthdays /nights out/special occasions?

I've had one a week since beginning my weight loss and it seems to be OK to have a (somewhat careful) once a week. Perhaps I'd be losing more if I didn't, but life just doesn't allow for it.

I'm seeing my best friends on Friday night and it's a meal out and booze. I'll just accept it and enjoy it, while trying to make reasonable choices for the sake of damage limitation.

MorrisZapp · 02/04/2019 08:03

*somewhat careful blowout

Thisimmortalcurl · 02/04/2019 09:12

@whereareyouspot ... it is always better if I weigh , plus I’m quite in the routine of weighing so it’s hard not to weirdly at the moment .
I’m back to 8/10 , not that bad , 2lb up
since last wed.
@Morriszapp , every week but I since this thread I have had one night that I’ve had a meal and drinks out. If I can keep it to that meal and not all the added extras then it seems not too bad overall . Likely is making things slower but that’s okay for me.
It’s when I do days and days .. like I just have done that it’s harder to stop !

beela · 02/04/2019 10:02

@morriszapp I think it's more sustainable if you can do that. I'd rather enjoy myself and lose weight gradually, than be skinny and miserable.

waistaway · 02/04/2019 17:13

I have a night out on Sat. and visitors over Sunday so I plan to extra strict with myself all week. I might offer to drive on Sat. night and stick to the diet coke. This would probably work out better as I wouldn't want a hangover when I'm cooking for extra people anyway.

Easter will be a tough one but I have my work weekend the week after so plan to be strong-easy to say at the moment as no child has yet chosen an egg and the house is chocolate free.

Eattothebeat · 03/04/2019 05:16

All going well here and I am persevering with both the diet and exercise. I am trying to lift heavier weights which I hope will tone me up without making me bulky (I've read up on this and it seems to be the case).
I am trying to do little and often with weights as I lack the discipline for very long intensese sessions.
I am looking forward to getting a couple of new dresses when I hit target as for me clothes shopping is such a good experience when you are not looking for an outfit that hides your weight.
I have a meal out with friends on Saturday but I have offered to drive so I am just at risk of overeating rather than the double whammy of overeating and overdrinking. Also the place we are going has lots of really nice salads so that will help too.
Just psyching myself up to do a HIIT workout now......

Caggie09 · 03/04/2019 06:55

I was so close to getting that 9st 7, then i ruined it. Scared to step on the scales. Ive binged, and i feel awfulSad Starting over!

Eattothebeat · 03/04/2019 08:06

Don't worry Caggie - it happens to all of us. Move on - it's all part of the dieting process! If we all managed to stay on the wagon all the time then none of us would be here.

MorrisZapp · 03/04/2019 08:10

So true. If it was easy we wouldn't be in this position to begin with! Slow and steady wins the day.

In other news, I think my boobs have shrink a bit! This is very welcome as they're ridiculous :) My bra now has an empty bit at the top. Few more weeks and I'll try on a size down.

Yay! Itty bitty titty committee here I come!

Thisimmortalcurl · 03/04/2019 09:19

@Caggie09 ,I can guarantee that your binge was nothing on the scale of my 4 day eat everything in sight even when I wasn’t hungry one.
I’ve been back on it for the last few days and am only a 1lb up than before it started .
It’s getting the motivation not to say .. well bugger it I’ve mucked it up so what’s the point .. well it is for me anyway .
That’s why threads like this are helpful to keep focused.
Excellent re the boobage @MorrisZapp .. although I’m a life long member of the itty bitty no boobs party:)
I’m doing okay , weight going down again , 8/9 this morning . Hopefully it won’t take as long as usual to get rid of another lb and then I’ll be back to the same as I was last wed.

beela · 03/04/2019 09:42

I wasn't on the wagon yesterday either, but I'm back today. @immortal, I agree, it's the keeping at it that's important and I do find it so helpful to have other people to chat to about it.

I'm weighing in at exactly 60kg today, those 50s are still elusive! But I'll carry on and one day I will be consistently there.

@morris well done re the boobs! Mine are considerably smaller than they used to be but I still shop in bravissimo! Partly because nowhere else does a small back with a larger cup. Ridiculous really.

Eattothebeat · 03/04/2019 19:43

Going great guns here and not a carb has passed my lips today. Prawns stir fried in chilli oil with spring onions, ginger and spinach for dinner - bloody delicious. Lunch was crustless quiche and salad and breakfast was a boiled egg. I had a few nuts for snacks. Just enjoying a gin and slimline now and contemplating doing a bit of a HIIT workout (I find the g&t makes it easier).
I had better get that elusive whoosh this Friday otherwise I will be very disappointed. My clothes are looking much better and my confidence is growing which proves that I'm quite a shallow person and that my confidence is dependent on how I look!

Thisimmortalcurl · 03/04/2019 21:14

The 50’s will come @beela !
That’s great @Eattothebeat , I’m also having a gin and slim .. I love the Edinburgh elderflower.
I’m the exact same re if I’m feeling slim my confidence and clothes and effort that I put in is much better.

sparklyglitterball · 03/04/2019 21:17

Evening ladies, I've had a good day. Tuna salad for lunch, tagine with loads of vegetables in and a little cous cous for dinner. I'm having a couple of chocs now..........I need a little treat once kids are in bed. This thread is definitely keeping me focused. Eat, your comment about the g&t making your hit session easier made me chuckle Smile you're really good doing exercise later in the evenings.

sparklyglitterball · 03/04/2019 21:19

Also, I can really relate to the feeling slim helping with motivation and confidence etc. All of these factors seem to have a knock on effect on each other.

Eattothebeat · 04/04/2019 09:52

Good luck with your efforts today everyone. Step away from the biscuit, seek out some raw veggies and drink a big glass of water!

Eattothebeat · 04/04/2019 09:53

*biscuit tin not biscuit!

beela · 04/04/2019 16:16

Good timing on the pep talk eat... I read your post at lunchtime and then managed to decline all the biscuits at my afternoon meeting Halo
