Hi all... OK the sun is shining but the summer wardrobe just doesn't fit. I know that this is a temporary blip in the weather and it will rain next week but I would love to be a stone lighter by the time summer starts for real. I feel miserable - anyone want to join me. Starting tomorrow.

curl I'm sure the losses will come if you stick with it - it just takes perseverance.
For anyone who is thinking about low carbing because they constantly crave sweet things, take a look at this thread. The OP clearly loves her carbs and some very well informed mumsnetters explain clearly how low carbing reduces your appetite and stops the cravings.

Woohoo!! Sneaky mid-week weigh in, and the scales say 59.7kg! I thought I was going to have to chop off a limb to break that 60kg barrier.

Whereareyouspot · 27/03/2019 11:41

It is ridiculously hard at times to lose weight

It’s age for me. That and being metabolically apple shaped and having PCOS means I should really be a low carber but I find it really hard.
But age primarily is what has made it feel like such a flipping battle the whole time.

I haven’t bothered weighing at all for a few days as I know I have been eating too much and evening snacking has been out of control again.

But then I don’t have much motivation given I tried proper hard for over a month and lost about a pound!!

Whereareyouspot · 27/03/2019 11:41

Well done Beela that’s a great milestone!

Caggie09 · 27/03/2019 11:58

Ive went off track. Ill be back soon🙈

Harumphharagh · 27/03/2019 12:54

So I was in at the beginning of the thread at 11st6, need to lose down to 10st3, had lost five pounds but put them all back on and am stuck at 11st4!

I can't believe how hard this is!

I don't eat gluten (coeliac) so no bread, cakes, biscuits
I've cut down massively on dairy as realised it was the factor in my eternally bad skin
I'm off chocolate for lent
I don't eat takeaways
I eat tons of veg and lots of vegan/clean recipes.

I have no idea what's going on. Going to have to go v lo carb (but not completely as it makes me feel seriously ill and spirals me into depression) and have teeny portions.

I wouldn't mind eating like a supermodel if I weighed 7.5 stone (which is what my model friend weighed when working).

Eattothebeat · 27/03/2019 16:31

Wow harumph it's hard to believe an adult woman could weigh 7.5 stone. spot sometimes I find losing weight really hard and take one step forward and two back and other times I get completely in the zone and feel really motivated. At the moment I'm in the zone but I will probably get derailed by something or someone and be back off the wagon before long!
Well done beela - I still can't get my head round kilograms but it's great that you've broken through 60!
caggie don't be hard on yourself - just draw a line under it and re-start.

beela · 27/03/2019 18:34

eattothebeat when I started losing weight I couldn't bear to know my weight in stones so I weighed in kg instead. It was a few weeks before I dared to convert it Blush but at least by that time I didn't weigh 80kg any more Blush

Then I bought some scales and they only do kg.

beela · 27/03/2019 18:35

And thank you Grin

Whereareyouspot · 27/03/2019 19:55

Don’t convert it out loud on here!!
Beela that’s why I’m working in kg Blush

luckylips · 27/03/2019 21:02

Good day today, resisted loads of food at work!!

I had:
Coffee
Fruit
Wrap with Halloumi and veg
Handful of nuts
Popcorn
Chicken and veg
Mini bag of maltesers

beela · 27/03/2019 21:41

.@whereareyouspot very wise 🦉

waistaway · 27/03/2019 22:17

I can't think in kg at all. If I get under 10 st I'll be so happy-it would seem like a big achievement to get into the single digits again. Then I'll aim for 9st 10lb-which is the top of the BMI scale for my height.

MorrisZapp · 27/03/2019 23:25

Haven't lost this week, but I'm working on increasing my calorie burn from my running workouts at the gym.

I run til I burn 600 calories, then walk on an incline for a further 100. I read somewhere that the incline walking is the exercise of choice of Biggest Loser contestants :)

So 700 calories, twice a week. And I don't eat them back.

Whereareyouspot · 28/03/2019 06:49

A 600 calorie run is about 8 miles for me Morris. I wear my Apple Watch and usually burn about 80 calories a mile. 50-60 walking mile.
My average active calorie burn (so on top of resting calories) is 1400 and has been for years. Makes zero difference to my weight so I realise how much I must be overeating without realising or how screwed up my metabolism is from some years of very restrictive dieting and then menopause.

I feel completely bloated after having toast again yesterday. If I wake feeling slim I seem to be so much more motivated that day.

Eattothebeat · 28/03/2019 07:52

Morning all! Just done 40 minutes of HIIT to get the day going with a bang although now I'm having to have a little lie down before the school run.
spot I tend to have low carb high protein bread if I want toast and it's very dense and filling but doesn't bloat me. If you're interested I'll send a link. It's expensive but good.
I'm quietly confident for my weigh in tomorrow although who knows what today could bring in terms of food shaped obstacles. I'm away from the office at a work event later so will be fed stuff that's probably not ideal.
Anyway well done everyone for keeping going this far and it looks as though most of us are very gradually edging in the right direction. Reading about other peoples' exercise on here makes me more inclined to exercise so that's got to be a good thing!

Harumphharagh · 28/03/2019 09:21

eat I know she was like a very beautiful little fragile bird (she seemed so small even at 5’10).

11st3 today so at least inching in the right direction again.

Thisimmortalcurl · 28/03/2019 09:33

You are absolutely right @Eattothebeat.. perseverance and this thread is a really brilliant check in point for me to do that.
Brilliant @beela , lovely to go into new numbers !
I’m a bit to hungover to tag others but reading how hard it is for everyone makes it seem slightly less frustrating.
I wonder what the average age of us is on this thread ?
It’s my birthday today 😁
Yesterday I had a lovely spa day then went out for various drinks and cocktails with me husband.
I was pretty good food wise .. had the soup ( vegetable ) and brown roll without butter then cal counted meal at night .
In one pub I was drooling over the snack menu .. skinny fries with garlic finish etc etc etc but the only thing I had very late on was a few wasabi peas .
Drinks wise I had prosecco / wine / gin / cocktail and am very hungover.
The scales are the same though today 8/8 .
I’m going to be mostly in bed today and then my birthday Chinese’s meal tonight .
My husband has laughed lots at my written down long list of what we are having 😂
Have a great day everyone .

Harumphharagh · 28/03/2019 09:53

Happy birthday! Ooh what a lovely lot of drinks, I hardly get out at the moment and so I love the ‘one of each’ approach, ie a cocktail then a glass of wine and a digestif rather than just glass after glass of wine.

beela · 28/03/2019 11:07

@Thisimmortalcurl happy birthday! Flowers Definitely a day not to worry about the diet.

I'm trying my best to stay on track, I've got some baking to do for a cake sale at the weekend (I'm taking inspiration from the protestant traybake thread) so need to avoid too much sampling as I go along.

eat 40 minutes of hiit is impressive! I've taken Joe Wicks at his word when he says that 15 minutes is enough Grin I'm planning on starting c25k next week. I used to do a lot of running but haven't for years, I need to start from scratch again. Looking forward to some outdoor exercising.

sparklyglitterball · 28/03/2019 19:36

Good evening, hope you're all having a good day. Happy birthday mortalcurl! Hope you're able to let your hair down a bit Smile

Well done eat on the exercise and beela on the loss. Sorry if I've forgotten anyone.

I went a little crazy yesterday and had a chocolate twist pastry thing instead of lunch........my excuse was it was given to me so would be rude not to!

Back into focused mode today. Had porridge and blueberries for breakfast, omelette with spinach, tomatoes, halloumi and salad for lunch and homemade vegetable curry for dinner. Will have a little chocolate treat of some sort later too.

I made banana bread with my three year old earlier.........I use half the sugar that the recipe suggests, but it's still a high calorie treat that I should avoid!

Thisimmortalcurl · 28/03/2019 21:00

Thank you for the lovely b day wishes , I’ll attach a pic for you to laugh at.. i def over ordered and was full after one plate .. I have obviously eaten what I wanted and am on the prosecco. I was given really lovely gifts from my husband and family with the help of an Amazon wish list 😂
Back on it tomorrow though .

Happy birthday curl and I am so jealous of your chinese banquet - I would be having the rest of that for breakfast if it was in my house.
Sounds like you've had a lovely couple of days.
sparkly what's protestant tray bake - I'm intrigued.
Done ok today despite there being a buffet at the work event - I didn't over indulge so I'm hoping to see some numbers I like on the scales tomorrow but if I don't I will just keep on keeping on until I get there.

I remember when I was in my early twenties and I could drop half a stone off so easily - now it takes forever.

beela · 28/03/2019 21:39

Here you go eat:

(but don't read it if you are craving cake, it's not going to help!)

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3527870-Which-is-the-tastiest-Protestant-traybake

I went a bit wrong today, it all got a bit snacky. But I've had a healthy tea, and packed up the leftovers for lunch tomorrow, I will aim not to leave it at home this time Blush

beela · 28/03/2019 21:40

Ps curl that takeaway looks epic!
