We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Yes it has been quiet. I'm not having the best few days. My teen son is currently in hospital after taking a paracetamol overdose, thankfully all his bloods have come back ok but he's still expressing suicidal thoughts. I "slept" on a little chair bed next to him. He's got a MH assessment today.

I've just eaten for the first time since Thursday, large chai latte and a croissant. Not the best choices but it was that or start fainting and he kinda needs me with it!!

Should be a good loss this week - am expecting to hit 2 stone loss alas just not for the best of reasons x

moonlight1705 · 16/02/2019 15:21

Oh dear, sounds like you are all having an utterly crap week. How are you doing cricket? Good luck with the assessment today.

How's the car now honey? It always happens when we least need the problem doesn't it!!

Quandary its so frustrating with that one pound but go measure now and then compare in a month. I've not lost that much weight (although who knows now) but have lost half an inch off each arm, an inch off each thigh etc.

My week has been difficult getting used to having a DD. My milk took ages to come in so she's lost quite a bit of weight. Breastfeeding is such hard work but may have settled now milk is fully available. Just so exhausted but we made loads of freezer meals beforehand so had a lovely healthy few dinners at little effort. I did have pate for the first time in a year today though which was utterly delicious!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/02/2019 18:55

Oh cricket, I'm so sorry. I hope CAHMS have been helpful today. Look after yourself too.

Moonlight well done on cracking breastfeeding. It took a week or so with DS because he had a tongue tie which was very difficult to cope with.

Quandary I've gained 2lbs this week Blush I ate out on Sunday and had far too much. I felt like I was going to throw up. Awful. On Wednesday I had a picnic of houmous and pitta bread whilst waiting for the RAC in the car. (£150 repair Hmm ) and on Thursday we had a takeaway for Valentine's. I'm going to be weighing every day to make sure it disappears again. Very frustrating but that's life, isn't it? KOKO!

Gained this week: 2lbs
Total loss: 92.25lbs
To lose: 20.50lbs

So sorry to hear about your son cricketmum. I hope he gets all the help & support he needs. Make sure you look after yourself as well as him.Flowers

Well done on the breastfeeding - I really struggled. Thought having big boobs would help but it really didn’t! It just made me worry that I would suffocate my baby Grin

Going to be an odd week for me as my husband has taken the kids off skiing for half term so I am home alone. I am catching up with friends so need to try and eat sensibly when I am out for a meal...
I have also bought a filing cabinet and am planning a week of sorting out to try and keep me busy and away from the valentines chicks I have been given!

1lb off for me this week so now under 21st mark which is a really nice milestone

Week 5
Starting weight 21st 11.5
Weight now 20st 13.5
Total loss 12lbs

LosingLola · 16/02/2019 23:00

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/02/2019 11:53

Jumped on the scales this morning and the rouge 2lbs has mostly gone now, just 0.25lbs up on last week. Bloating and water retention from a few salty meals, I think. Will continue to monitor and see what happens this week.

Well done on your losses, Lola, Stirrer, Jes, and cate. Excellent progress! Onwards and downwards!

Can I join please? I started Jan 1st at 20 stone exactly. I’m 5’7 so need to lose 8 stone 8 to be a healthy weight.
Today I weighed in at 18st 13.2 so 14.8lbs lost so far.

Total to lose from start: 120lbs
Still to lose: 105.2lbs

HoneysuckIejasmine · 17/02/2019 13:55

Welcome introvert and well done on your progress so far! I'm aiming for 8 stone too, but probably more as I'm a inch shorter than you and a loss of 8 stone puts me just outside the healthy BMI range. Oh well!

HoneysuckIejasmine
Well done on almost getting rid of the 2lb.
Introvert

zebrarobot · 18/02/2019 07:06

Im 4lbs down today taking me to total loss since 6th jan of 21.8lbs and into the 18st bracket. 18st 13 down from 20st 6.8lbs. Chuffed with this!

Im also over one fifth of my way to 100lb loss. Not really sure what my end weight should be but i know i need to get at least 100lbs off.

MagicKeysToAsda · 18/02/2019 14:41

Waves to all - I fell off the last thread and have been so grumpy about gaining/losing the same 3lbs this year that I decided to spare you my sulks! I'm 70lbs down altogether (20 months duration), with probably 21lbs to an ideal goal. I've been struggling with food, but grimly continuing the exercise. I've also started reading a book about using CBT to improve diet/weight/health, which is interesting.

I bought some new jeans last week, same size as before, because the others were getting saggy. To my surprise the new pair were a bit loose. So today I bought the next size down, as a "goal garment" because absolutely never in my adult life have I worn size 12 jeans. I tried them on to see how many inches I still needed to lose for them...and they buttoned. Shock So, er, this is weird! I was probably a generous size 20 at the beginning. In some ways I am more conscious of "feeling" fat now than I was then. My old winter coat looks vast now but I didn't realise it when I was filling it. My head is messed up!
But anyway: NSV and day marked in red on the calendar, size 12 jeans.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 18/02/2019 18:36

So proud of you Magic! ❤️

Zebra congratulations on the next stone bracket, I love that feeling. My next one will be "11" which is just insane.

Another 4lbs off for me this week so hit the 2 stone mark!

HoneysuckIejasmine · 19/02/2019 09:29

Well done cricket. Hope your DS is doing ok.

We're going to do some painting a decorating today. Mostly this evening though, when the kids aren't around to interfere! Grin

MonoClue · 19/02/2019 12:25

Can I join please?
I’ve put on nearly 5 stone over the last year. Mainly due to being less active as I gave up my full time, very active job to be my daughter’s carer. I was also on antidepressants for anxiety which gave me an undefeatable appetite.
At the start of the year I weighed 14 stone 6. (I’m 5’7”)
I’m not taking the antidepressants now. I weighed myself yesterday and I’m now 13 stone 12. So I’ve lost 8 pounds so far.
I want to get back to around 10 stone as the extra weight is putting a lot of pressure on my joints and the pain in my knees can actually cause me to cry. (I’m having tests for arthritis/ fibromyalgia and have been taking vitamin D and B12 for a few weeks to see if it will help)
I’m not doing anything diet oriented, just cutting out all the crap that I was eating and going for more healthy options where possible.
Fingers crossed I’d like to be healthy for Christmas.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 21/02/2019 08:28

Hi all! Hope you're all well. I've been ill these last two days. Managed a whole 1700 steps all day yesterday. Eugh!

Two tough weeks in the row for Honey koko

Hope cricket and her son are also OK.

Welcome to the new people

Food still all fine here. Not active enough though. Really need to work on that.

Quandary2018 · 21/02/2019 16:48

I’ve been ill too honey, totally the worst week for it! I was fine on Monday and took my kids to an inflatable play place- nsv as in November I was over the maximum weight and now I’m a good stone under it!
We had great fun, running around and jumping etc but Monday night I started to feel sick and ever since I’ve been chilly and achy- think I’ve done about the same as you step wise
Trying to eat badly but don’t have the energy to cook properly so foods not been the best

Hope you feel better soon! Been a right couple of weeks for you!

Cricket i do hope your DS is improving and getting the help he needs

AnotherOriginalUsername · 21/02/2019 21:02

Week 1: fail.

I can't seem to get on top of it. It's frustrating because I know I can do it, I've done it before!
I just don't know what to do in order to get things moving. Still not made it back to the gym yet, that'll be Saturday morning, no excuses then has husband is home to look after baby. Hoping maybe that'll get me back on track food wise.

MagicKeysToAsda · 21/02/2019 21:24

I'm reading a book just now (in 5 minute bursts!) that reckons we need to see ourselves as people who CAN do this, rather than people who "fail" at weight management. It suggests keeping a log of every positive choice or habit you make in a day, and giving yourself credit for those. Didn't snack with morning coffee? 1 credit in your notebook. Made a good choice at supper time? 1 credit. Drank water? Sat down to eat? Packed a healthy lunch for work? Credits all round! It's not to earn anything (although I don't see why not if it helps) it's to remind your brain that you have the capability and resilience to do this.

I'd be very interested to know what you guys make of this?

CheshireChat · 21/02/2019 22:11

I'm back! And finally got my arse in gear, partially because I need new jeans, but the ones I like have disappeared in a size 18, but they still do them in a 16 so I want to just buy a size down. That bit shouldn't be terribly difficult as I'm in between sizes ATM so fingers crossed.

MagicKeysToAsda I've got the wrong sort of brain for that as I can't stop thinking 'well, this is silly' and feeling like I'm treating myself a bit like how you train a dog 🐕...

MagicKeysToAsda · 21/02/2019 22:36

You make a good point Grin Can't help wondering though if I'm treating myself like a dog more by all the "it's been a tough day, you deserve a biscuit"...

CheshireChat · 21/02/2019 23:39

TBF my cat is a bit plump (DS calls her Santa cat!) so I've been weighing her food to make sure we're not overfeeding her- I'd love someone to do that for me, bet I'd lose weight then.
