We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

The biscuit comment made me laugh though!

Chickenvindasaag · 22/02/2019 11:19

I've 96lb to lose to get to goal weight. Attempting a combination of calorie counting and no snacking. Had high hopes of low carb but sadly didn't work for me.
Hope it's OK to join?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 22/02/2019 18:27

Hi Chicken, welcome! 😊

"it's been a tough day, you deserve a biscuit"... 😂😂😂

Is anyone else really hungry in the evening- I know the advice is not to eat late, but I can't sleep if I'm hungry Blush, I mind it less during the day.

longhaul2019 · 23/02/2019 08:10

I am bearably hungry in the evenings Cat so a cup of non caffeine tea and a glass of water takes my mind off.

Slight name change too because the last one was too long!

SV in that I finally braved the scales and only regained half of what I thought I had done last year when I was ill. Still back in the 200s but will be out again by mid March so I'm very relieved and can focus the year on losing old weight rather than new!

longhaul2019 · 23/02/2019 10:31

And a NSV. Losing weight is part of a life relaunch. I'm just paid off my credit card. That's a good feeling too.

Jes11 · 23/02/2019 10:43

Hi. Weighed in this morning at 20st 6lb. So another loss. Still going slow and steady because it's a lifestyle change. Good luck to everyone.

moonlight1705 · 23/02/2019 12:34

Its been 2 weeks now since DD arrived so I thought I would cheer myself up by looking at the scales.

Start weight at end of pregnancy: 21st 0lb
Weight now: 19st 0lb

A massive two stone loss feels somewhat good Smile

We're having trouble with her weight though, DD keeps losing weight so we're onto breastfeeding plus a bottle of formula after every feed in the hopes of getting her weight back up. Feeling a bit deflated about this whole feeding thing....she is hungry and I'm not able to give her enough. Still, means that DH can give her a bottle and get involved that way as well.

CheshireChat · 23/02/2019 16:16

longhaul2019 Extra coffee won't help me sleep though Grin.

I'll stick to eating then so I can actually sleep and see if the results are ok.

moonlight1705 remember, however much you BF is great and there's nothing wrong with topping up if needed.

I took not being able to produce enough milk quite hard, until I realised that all the women in my family (going back to my great grandma!) have struggled as well.

longhaul2019 · 23/02/2019 16:20

I think you missed the bit about noncaffeine Cat 😉

Moonlight It'll get easier and there's nothing wrong with bottle feeding.

TheStirrer · 23/02/2019 19:08

Keep persevering with the breast feeding but don’t worry if you need to bottle feed. It’s really tough.

Chicken - I was going to low carb but Knew I probably couldn’t do it so gave just tried to limit myself to 125g of carbs - half the recommended amount. I not finding it too bad! Might low carb a bit further on ...

Well somehow I had a very good week and lost 4lbs although I seem intent to wreck it by scoffing loads today. Need to rid myself of the ‘you’ve worked hard - have a treat (or 10)’ mentality. Been fat my whole life so it’s going to take more than 5 weeks of healthy (ish) eating to break. It’s my brain I need to change!

Anyway need to focus on the positives - I feel much healthier and clothes a bit looser. I have now lost over a stone and 10% of what I need to lose.

Week 6
Starting weight 21st 11.5
Current weight 20st 9.5
Total lost 16lbs

CheshireChat · 23/02/2019 20:13

longhaul2019 I absolutely did!

I have noticed I'm drinking more at least which is good.

I'm also on lower calories than predicted and doing ok for now.

CheshireChat · 23/02/2019 20:14

Btw the ads I'm constantly getting for this thread are simply cook and McDonald's...

HoneysuckIejasmine · 23/02/2019 21:03

moonlight I bottle fed DD and breastfeed DS still, so let me know if you want to chat. I love breastfeeding and I'm happy I can do it, but I also mixed fed DD for a while and that worked really well.

Well done on losses and NSVs everyone.

Mixed one for me today. I'm 1lb down on last week's weigh in, but I am still heavier than I was before the 2lb gain. If you recall, it mostly all came off again last Sunday but it seems to have gone on again during the week. I did a lot of walking yesterday (14km) so I think it's a fluid thing from that.

Today was day 1 of family visits for DD's birthday. We had nachos for lunch (600 cals), a slice of chocolate cake (approx 250 - ordered from a professional so unsure of recipe) and a chippie supper Blush (580 cals). However, with breakfast it's only 1800 cals total and I've done lots of walking so I'm only about 20 cals over on MFP today. Might do a exercise dvd later.

Sorry love, I'm not going to visit your blog. It's clear from the title that it's not going to be appropriate for us here.

Thank you Admin. Stupid spammers think we were born yesterday.

I've set a mini goal of 17x pounds by the end of May. The top end should be near achievable.

Gothamgirl1970 · 24/02/2019 11:58

Hi all

If possible and not too late I’d love to join in. Start 16.1 now 15.8. Age 48 (almost 49! Sad) and 5’5.5 so goal weight is 9.9.

I’m on a very reduced carb and no sugar plan but thinking to switch to SW for support/accountability but keep up no sugar. My body just doesn’t like it!

Quandary2018 · 24/02/2019 13:56

I’m not weighing this week for a number of reasons namely not being too well earlier in the week and being all out of routine with it being half term. I feel heavier but next week I’m going to be back in the zone. Since the second week of January things just haven’t been working the way I’d like so, from tomorrow, I will be making sure I drink plenty of water- I’ve been guzzling Diet Coke recently because I’ve been so tired- im going to address said tiredness by making sure I go to bed at a decent time, no phone the hour before bed, no caffeine after 7 and finally I’m going to start weight training. I do plenty of cardio but not enough muscle building. I will continue to log everything via mfp, continue hitting my steps and continue with 1200-1300 calories per day and hopefully the weight will resume coming off!!

marcopront · 24/02/2019 14:05

I'm not weighing this week. It was my birthday on Wednesday so I've been out for a couple of meals. I was given a box of biscuits and some chocolate, so I have eaten those. The people who gave me them have been the most supportive, so I think they decided I deserved a treat. I had gone six weeks without chocolate. I'll cut it out again from tomorrow.
I've still swum six days and managed 10 000 steps yesterday.

Quandary2018 · 24/02/2019 14:27

Moonlight i had to give my son formula as he was a ganite and I simply couldn’t keep
up with him! Pretty much everyone I know mix fed their kids as breastfeeding is such hard work- with my daughter I felt like a dairy cow, boobs seemed to be permanently out!
Fed is fed it doesn’t matter where it comes from so don’t be too hard on yourself

moonlight1705 · 24/02/2019 16:07

Thanks all, its so hard to work out what's best when its your first! She is a proper guzzler so my poor boobs just cannot keep up with demand. Combination feeding does sound easier in a lot of ways.

Well done on your losses as well, I'm hoping to get back into it soon and have lots of nice healthy meals raring to go.

I was thinking about the point of rewarding / credit yourself when you do a good task and kinda like that idea. May try it out sometime.

CheshireChat · 24/02/2019 22:10

In hindsight, I made both myself and DS miserable for not topping up sooner, he was starving and I was at my wit's end, he wanted to have two big feeds in quick succession and then nothing for a while, unfortunately kid, boobs don't work like that!

Hope it gets sorted for you.

categed · 24/02/2019 23:35

Well done on all the loses this week.
Re feeding, do what works for you and your baby. You've done a great job even considering and trying breast feeding, well done.
I had a rubbish week, inspectors in school and feeling lousy have resulted in me using this as an excuse to eat too much and not exercise enough. The result is 1lb gain. So from Monday it's back to tge grindstone no excuses.
Week 4
starting weigh 9st 1 3/4 oz
Weight today 19st 2 3/4oz
gain this week 1lb
To lose 134lb
Lost. 20lb 1/2oz
To go 113lb 1/2oz
