We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Oh vickibee, that is lovely. My daughter cycles and has padded leggings. She wishes she bought the expensive ones, so maybe try that?
Will Dh cycle with you, it’s hard to motivate yourself other wise. I think I wouldn’t attempt the 1/4 mile hill, just push it, or stick it in the car!

moonlight1705 · 14/09/2019 17:18

Oh how lovely vickibee hope you get lots of use out of that.

Quite proud this week as have lost 1.5lb /0.7kg so after a few weeks of STS or putting on then this is a good result.

3dogs2cats · 15/09/2019 15:25

That is good news moonlight.. I am also registering a small loss.

vickibee · 19/09/2019 09:07

Also a small loss, just a one pound this week, currently 15 stone 3 pounds. Can't wait to break the 15 barrier.
Have used the bike a bit and it certainly does hurt your underneath, waling really weird LOL

EightToSixer · 21/09/2019 10:12

4lbs down in last 10 days which I'm very pleased about as I'm still not very mobile on crutches and I've been feeling sorry for myself and craving milk chocolate. Now lost 18 lbs in 6 weeks. Onwards and downwards.

Saltnpepper5 · 21/09/2019 12:10

Another 5lb gone since my last update so that's 32lb gone forever!

Well done everyone keep it up!

AftonGlen · 22/09/2019 21:02

I have just found this thread and want to join in please! I am currently 220lbs and seriously in need of losing weight- not quite 100lbs, would love to get to 140lb which I look my best at, I am 5ft 6.
I think I sm going to set mini goals as 80lbs just sounds horrendous and completely daunting!
My first mini goal is 180lb- the weight I was the last time I felt attractive.
Looking forward to reading through this thread for inspiration!

moonlight1705 · 23/09/2019 09:18

Wow you are all doing so well. Welcome AftonGlen to our group, you'll see all types of weight loss here with every method. How are you thinking of doing it?

I STS this week, well lost 0.1kg but it isn't really a loss. Need to up my exercise a bit now I think as well as try and go a little less carby for the week.

vickibee · 23/09/2019 09:21

I seem to have reached a plateau and don't know what to do to get back to losing. What I was doing up to now isn't working and if anypne had any suggestions (i am desperate to get through the 15 st barrier - a no 14 sounds so much better). I guess what I really need to do is eat even less

frumpety · 23/09/2019 10:08

Can I join ? I need to lose 7 stone so just shy of 100 lbs , probably 8 if I being honest. I gave up smoking and put a stone on over the last 6 months and this has really effected my ability to get down on the floor and up again ( I can still do it but it isn't pretty) which is an essential part of my job, my joints hate me !
I think I am going to try the blood sugar diet in an attempt to reset my appetite , I am also going to go sober in October to kick my wine habit into touch. I am going away at the end of October but fortunately with someone who is very supportive and enjoys healthy food and we are self catering so shouldn't be too many issues.
Here's to being able to put my socks on with ease Smile

vickibee · 23/09/2019 10:14

welcome to the newbies frumpty and moonlight.
It is overwhelming and breaking it down into mini targets is much more motivating. I am at 49 pound loss since February and stuck at the moment. My next small target is to break through 15 before i see my dietician on 18 October

frumpety · 23/09/2019 10:32

Thank you vickibee , my first goal is 17 stone something, so just over a stone weight loss , but two numbers down iyswim Smile

AftonGlen · 23/09/2019 17:39

Thanks moonlight. I am doing cico, about 1400 cal a day. I find it works best for me if I can still have a little of what I fancy.

camrose · 23/09/2019 17:59

Can I join too please? I need to loose weight for medical reasons and I also want to have more energy.
I did weigh 138kgs in July. My downfall has always been snacking in the car ( sweets etc), so I went to a hypnotherapist and have stopped that bad habit. I thought I would loose some weight from that alone but I probably just stopped putting on weight!
I have been careful since and despite a 2 week holiday in Italy I am now 132.5 kg.
Not a massive reduction ( about 1 stone) but a step in the right direction. For now I would be delighted if I reached 100kg.
I have an appointment to join the local gym on Friday but I still need to make lots more changes.
I have thought about joining weight watchers or slimming world but haven't yet.
I really need to succeed this time.

Hi everyone, hope you don't mind me joining in.

Had a terrible scale related shock today, I knew I'd put a bit of weight on my already huge bulk but I weighed myself for the first time in ages and I'm nearly 21 stone. I always promised myself I'd never let myself go past 20, but here I am. Everything hurts, everything is an effort, walking on a flat pavement leaves me breathless and I'm genuinely scared.

The very most I 'should' be is 10 stone 10, but I'd be happy if I could achieve 12.

I've re-registered on MFP (for what feels like the billionth time), with my new start weight, I have a glass of wine left in a bottle in the kitchen (my weakness) which will be finished tonight, then tomorrow is a fresh new start.

3dogs2cats · 03/10/2019 16:02

Hello @HoobleDooble, and welcome. It’s sad that not much is happening on this thread, as a lot of u# desperately need a space where we can give our weight accurately and our struggles honestly without anyone telling us we are gross. Too many people on other threads agreeing that a size 12 can be obese, and that makes me feel awful. Maybe we should commit to a weekly update. I’m quite new to Mumsnet and I didn’t initiate this, don’t want to seem pushy or rude, but I need help.Ive just been to stay with a friend who is really slim, and on a low carb dietbecause she is diabetic. She clearly thought I was letting go and eating more than usual, but actually I was eating less, oh dear, the embarrassment, The weight is creeping up again.
So what do think @HoneysuckIejasmine, @moonlight1705*,*@frumpety@camrose@vickibee@AftonGlen@Saltnpepper5,@EightToSixer

camrose · 03/10/2019 18:49

3digs2cats - I think it's a very good idea to report back weekly. I think I need that to keep me focussed (and I don't want to go to a weekly meeting). I have slipped a bit this week and am happy to do anything to keep me on track!

HoobleDooble · 03/10/2019 23:33

Thanks for replying. Checking in once a week (or more if we're struggling) sounds great. I need all the support I can get (and not just in a brassiere type of way).

AftonGlen · 04/10/2019 07:17

Hi @3dogs2cats I will make sure I report back weekly as well. My first week last week was a disaster so I was just lurking trying to get in to a better mindset. I was having disgusting binges of takeaway food and chocolate - it's like self sabotage and I don't know why I do it to myself.
After feeling rotten all weekend I decided to start the bsd 800 diet on Monday and so far I have stuck rigidly to it- I haven't felt that hungry and I have just started my period so I think this is my time!
I have lost weight before doing cico so I know I can do it- we all can.
I am going to weigh in next Friday when I am sure my period bloat is away- started on Monday at 219.

camrose · 04/10/2019 08:02

Ok ( deep breath), shall I start. My weight this morning is 132.0kg. I have lost 6kg in the last 2 months but I think my weight remained the same this week - I did slip a few times this week eating things I shouldn't (eg Apple crumble at work yesterday which was delicious).

This is not going to be easy but I have to find a way to loose weight.

Should we have targets? At the moment I would be delighted to be under 100kg.

3dogs2cats · 04/10/2019 08:40

Wow brilliant. I am 102.6 kgs today. I lost 5 kilos in June, but since then have flip flopped between 100 and 103. My first goal is also the 100 kg barrier, and at this rate camrose will get there first.
I am calorie counting and exercising, entering it all on MFP, but clearly lacking accuracy as I should be well down in the 90s by now. Portion control.

vickibee · 04/10/2019 09:01

Hey I am sharing a milestone, reached 50 Lb loss today, start 158st 9 and 3/4 today 15 st 1 and 3/4. I am desperate to break thru 15 but seems to have stalled recently. Think I am eating more in the cold weather
I had porridge oats for breakfast today and though that would keep me full until lunch but someone has brought homemade cakes in , lurking in the kitchen. Willpower needed

3 dogs, size 12 obese ? I haven't been that size since I was about 14 ! I would be happy at a size 14 and would prob look quite slim (by my standards at least) at that, I have a big frame and my BMI says 11 1/2 max, I would be skin and bones. I have another 28 lb I would like to lose.

vickibee · 04/10/2019 09:02

should be 18 stone 9 not 158 stone,Grin

moonlight1705 · 04/10/2019 15:29

Oh thank goodness, I thought I was going to have to drop off this thread, It used to be such a support but its no good if people will not talk about their successes and failures.

At the moment I'm on such a plateau as I'm doing loads of exercise (yey) but craving chocolate all the time (boo).

I am now 122kg (was 132kg at the top) and my target is to get below 100kg within a year so I can try for number 2 baby. That way my BMI will be below 35 and I might have some alternative options.
