We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Meant to say welcome to HoobleDooble and well done to you all for those lovely big losses.

The only thing I would add is that its great to have big losses but sometimes just the half pound here and there is also great since its down and it means that you are making those changes.

3dogs2cats · 04/10/2019 20:18

Vickibee , you are doing so well. So important to know that people do lose 50 pounds. Just creep into the 14s when no ones looking.
Moonlight 10 kilos is fantastic. Sure your target is achievable..
Even though I just had McDonald’s, I feel much more hopeful of getting back on track with you lot!

vickibee · 07/10/2019 13:10

Thanks 3 dogs, keep plodding
My 12 yo goes to Macdonalds and I have a grilled chicken wrap if I go there about 340 Kcal I think plus a PG tips. Rather have a burger but hey ho
I had not a great weekend I was our for the day and ended up having a large sausage roll because I was hungry and couldn't find anything else..
Wanted to ask if anyone had experience of those airfry thing and whether they are worth getting. What can you cook in them etc?

3dogs2cats · 07/10/2019 14:56

Never had an air fry, no. I will try the chicken wrap if I fetch up at Macd again. We have a very difficult to feed teen, so I probably will. Lots of family around this weekend so we ate a lot of comfort food, casserole and roast and crumble, nice but ultimately unhelpful. I will try to keep things tighter this week.

moonlight1705 · 07/10/2019 14:59

I've had an awful week, put on 0.5kg and have had an ill DD. We've been cuddled up on the sofa with frankly loads of rubbish eaten.

I'm back to work tomorrow but really craving sweet things. What does everyone have to help that? I've tried not taking anything and just go to the shops and buy it anyway so need a small hit of sweetness to go with a cuppa in the afternoon.

vickibee · 07/10/2019 15:48

I buy meringue nests for a sweet treat, fill with fruit and creme fraiche. It’s very nice now and again. I had two ginger nuts earlier to dunk in my tea

3dogs2cats · 07/10/2019 17:24

I’ve got a serious Digestive biscuit habit. But now generally restricted to 2 a day. Or a mini flake.

moonlight1705 · 08/10/2019 11:51

Amazing thought vickibee, I've had two ginger nut biscuits with my morning tea and squandered 98 calories but they were totally worth it.

Now I've just got to have my nice healthy lunch and go from there.

K1ngmarbs · 08/10/2019 17:40

Hi ladies please can I join you? Weighed in at 16’10 today- starting weight was 17’4 at start of September. I have 54lbs to get off as I need to get down to at least 13 stone for fertility treatment so really need the support of a weekly check in Smile

HoobleDooble · 09/10/2019 07:38

Hi K1ngmarbs, welcome to our little corner.

I'm back with the first weigh in and it's a big one ... 7 lbs off. I still have another 2 lb to shed to get back under 20 stone, and I know the first week is always (as my dad puts it) mainly piss and wind, and it'll be back to the 1lb a week slog now. But I did a little dance anyway.

I counted calories all week on MFP, didn't bother logging exercise because a) I didn't do much except a walk to see the Knife Angel in Derby and the walk to work, and b) I'd only eat the calories burned. I did turn down a free cheesy garlic bread that DH brought home with my chicken kebab, very proud of that! 😁

HoobleDooble · 09/10/2019 07:41

I have an air fryer @vickibee, to be honest it only really gets used for oven chips, but my work colleague swears by hers, she does real chips, frittatas and all sorts in it.

K1ngmarbs · 09/10/2019 09:22

@HoobleDooble wow that’s a fab loss well done! And also well done for saying no to free garlic bread that takes some will power Smile

vickibee · 09/10/2019 09:55

@HoobleDooble agree a great loss! and @K1ngmarbs 8 pounds also a great loss. I seem stuck at the minute.

I am undecided about the airfyer can you use it for say chicken breasts or fish fillets?

HoobleDooble · 09/10/2019 22:07

@vickibee yes you can, there are loads of actifry/air fryer recipes on the internet. I should really use mine more so will be doing some experiments.

moonlight1705 · 10/10/2019 15:20

Hooble - how does it work exactly? Sounds rather intriguing.

I'm terrible for getting kitchen gadgets and never using them though, think I need to fish out my slow cooker again for the winter.

vickibee · 10/10/2019 16:43

We use our slow cooker a lot make hearty stews, I have even used it to make rice pudding. I put it on before I go out to work and there is a wholesome meal when you get in .

K1ngmarbs · 10/10/2019 18:52

Ooh yes definitely slow cooker season! I love rice pudding done in one Smile

AftonGlen · 11/10/2019 07:05

Good morning, I have just done my weigh in - 214lb - down from 219lb 11 days ago.
I actually weighed myself yesterday and was 211; I am trying hard not to be disheartened as I know weight fluctuates but still it's annoying!

I have been doing the BSD and feel great on it, the only time I have really deviated from plan when I was at the pictures and went unprepared and ended up buying an ice cream milkshake Hmm
Oh and I had a slice of birthday cake one day but other than that I haven't snacked, my down fall is bread and butter and chocolate, especially in afternoons and evenings.
I think going low carb has helped curbed my appetite, wish I had tried it years ago.

K1ngmarbs · 11/10/2019 08:12

Well done @AftonGlen that’s brilliant! I’ve found the same that reduction in carbs/filling up on protein first has meant I’m less hungry or more satisfied. As for the cake and ice cream sundae yum! We have to still live and have the odd thing like that or we’ll go off the wagon completely. I always try and think ‘progress not perfection’ Smile

3dogs2cats · 11/10/2019 16:15

Im up a kilo from my last weigh in which was about 3 weeks ago. I’m not going to beat myself up about, I am trying again and that is good. So tempted to continue but I missed my swim today and ate banana bread, but really, so what. I am much more Mindful than I was before, and that’s how it is.

moonlight1705 · 11/10/2019 16:23

3dogs what a lovely attitude, I am really trying to get there and not beat myself up about it.

Has anyone ever looked into emotional overeating? I'm this down to a tee (t? tea?) and wondered if I ought to look at some therapy sessions to try and get to the bottom of it. www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/types/emotional-overeating

moonlight1705 · 12/10/2019 08:44

Just weighed and lost the 0.5kg I put on last week so that's good.

K1ngmarbs · 13/10/2019 16:17

Well done @moonlight1705 that’s fab! How’s everyone else getting on?

3dogs2cats · 14/10/2019 10:05

Had another busy weekend with family visitors, and thought it would be bad, because of a meal out, proper Sunday dinner etc. but I’ve been up all night with a very upset tummy, and that is worse. I think I need to learn from this, I don’t think I can tolerate higher fat foods any more, I need to find some way to stay consistent with smaller meals and less fat and sugar. Because once I get Ill, everything falls apart, can’t gym or swim and live on biscuits.

HoobleDooble · 15/10/2019 17:41

We'll done on your loss @moonlight . Weigh day for me in the morning, been full of cold since Friday so have tried to count but I think I've had an extra day's calories in whisky. Less than 2 weeks to my friend's wedding, I had 18 months to lose loads of weight for and I'm half a stone up! Could kick myself.
