We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

4 lbs down this week. Unfortunately I badly injured my knee at Zumba and I'm on crutches so can't exercise for a while. I've been fastidious about calories while I can't move so that loss is all down to diet not exercise. I'm so frustrated not to be able to exercise now but at least I'm making progress. I'm very stabby indeed because I'm hungry all the time and miss the comfort of food but I'm holding on in there.

3dogs2cats · 06/09/2019 17:19

Oh well done eighttosixer. To lose weight in those circumstances is absolutely amazing. Hope it heals ASAP.

wombatsandaplant · 06/09/2019 21:49

I’ve just started, since 17th July. Started at 170.3kg and now I’m 165.2kg, so 5kg loss so far. I’m super happy and proud of myself. I’m eating much healthier too, no crisps or chocolate for this week, gonna continue that. Going to Iceland in February and Disney next November, so lots of motivation to get fit for them.

3dogs2cats · 06/09/2019 23:27

Not my thread, but you are welcome wombatsandaplant.5 kilos in less than 2 months is terrific, and new food habits will keep it off. Cool holidays days too.

vickibee · 07/09/2019 07:33

3 dogs I know what u mean about the 100 kg it is a milestone. It won’t be long. I am currently 97.5 kg but I am old school and work in stones and pounds. It is my dietician who always uses kg

3dogs2cats · 07/09/2019 08:23

Vickibee, I checked in stones and I am 15.94 Stones currently. So I might switch back , now I’m in the 15s!. Made the mistake of looking how far it is to overweight and healthy weight last night. I am 5 ft 7. Need to lose 5.5 more stones. So depressing. My Dh said no, that I have a large frame. He found a thing online which measures frame size by placing thumb and index finger around your wrist. If they overlap, small frame, if they meet , medium frame, if they don’t meet, large frame. I have big hands and long fingers, but cannot encircle my wrist. He’s very kind.

vickibee · 07/09/2019 10:26

We are similar then, I am 5 feet 8 and my bmi is 32.5. I am aiming to get down to 13 stone eventually because I will be slimish at that weight. I also have a big frame, I can never get gloves that fit and I am a size .7.5 shoe. Am I making excuses? I have to break it down in to manageable chunks and set mini targets. So my next target is to beat the 15 stone barrier.

3dogs2cats · 07/09/2019 12:10

Yes. My feet are a 42. I would kill to be 13 stone.

vickibee · 07/09/2019 12:56

It is killing me trying to get to 13 stone ,!

You just have to keep plodding on, we are going swimming this afternoon, not really much swimming it is a fun park with slides and a wave machine.

moonlight1705 · 07/09/2019 13:57

I've weighed this week and STS which I guess I'm not surprised about but disappointed. I need a proverbial kick up the backside to stop me snacking.

When breastfeeding I got down to 117kg and now I'm up at 122kg which is very annoying. Need to really think about eating...exercise is fine and I'm definitely doing 10000 steps a day plus taekwondo Sad

Thehouseintheforest · 07/09/2019 17:24

Can I join you ? I am 6 months post gastric sleeve. Started at 120kg now 81kg. The surgery is incredibly helpful but not a magic bullet. Because it works by creating a calorie deficit between what your body needs to maintain your weight and what you actually consume ( very little as stomach reduced by 85% capacity) .. I am now at a stage where I need to be making sensible food choices.

I follow the rules, eat less than 20g of sugar a day. Never more than 5g/100g of food. BUT fatty things are still my downfall. Can't resist a spoonful of cheese /Cornish pasty etc..

Quantity is not the problem as can only eat 5 or 6 tablespoons of anything .. but those tablespoons need to be the right choices...

Have plateuted for 2 weeks ...

Hiphopopotamus · 09/09/2019 10:18

I’m still plodding along - start weight 17st7lbs, weight this morning 14st9lbs. So it’s coming off! It’s slow and a bit up and down in places but I’m doing it. I just get daunted with how far I have to go - I need to be at 11st5lbs to even get to the very top end of a healthy bmi and it just feels a bit insurmountable.

vickibee · 09/09/2019 10:34

I agree Hiphopoptamus, that is why I break it down into more manageable targets. I don't want to be a skinny minny think I would gladly settle for around 13 stone, probably be a size 14 at that weight.
It is my colleagues birthday today and she has brought in a birthday cake. I guess I will have to have a small piece !

3dogs2cats · 10/09/2019 19:47

Well it is encouraging to me that so many have made progress. I had a bit of a blow out today, had lunch with a friend and thought to skip dinner but Dh had made a chilli, would have been rude not to have some and seconds. Oh well.

moonlight1705 · 11/09/2019 09:26

I made a flipping lovely chicken katsu curry last night so have that as leftovers for lunch with a big thai salad.

Just trying not to pop to the shops to buy chocolate. Please help me to not do that somehow Confused

vickibee · 11/09/2019 09:59

I love curry but the creamy ones that are high in calories :( and poppadoms and nan bread and onion bhaji
that is why my local takeaway is off limits for now. I have never tried making my own curry , maybe I should

moonlight1705 · 11/09/2019 10:24

You should totally try - I have my spice cupboard nicely stocked and generally try a variety of chicken ones. This one did have coconut milk in but used the lighter version and other than that, it is all vegetables and spices for the sauce. Katsu is breaded chicken but used a cornflour mix to stick breadcrumbs on and then grilled them rather than fried which is much better.

I do tend to go for boiled rice as a side now instead of the lovely poppadoms and naans.

wombatsandaplant · 11/09/2019 16:17

I lost 1.9 kg this week, woo, super happy.

3dogs2cats · 11/09/2019 23:48

1.9 kg in a week. That is insane. I am really hoping for some tiny overall loss this week. I bought new clothes for yoga today, and then was caught in traffic and got there too late. Sometimes the Gods aren’t on my side. Wore baggy harem pants last week which twisted under my knees and hurt so bad, thought the new clothes would cement my commitment.sick of being the fat woman in the non standard exercise clothes.
Came home and ate chocolate and commiserated with teen dramas instead.

vickibee · 12/09/2019 09:04

1.9 kg is wow! well done Wombat :)
I am an emotional eater and will eat for any reason but particularly when I am anxious or stressed. I think it is an addiction but not really recognised as such, others just think you are super greedy. I am getting better though.
3 dogs Yoga sounds amazing - I haven't the confidence to try these things, it takes all my courage to go swimming

3dogs2cats · 12/09/2019 14:37

Vickibee. Yoga is lovely. I am very bad at it but it. Isn’t competitive,so I am sad to have missed it. I am also trying to use the gym. I have a personal trainer because I have no clue what to do, but I practice in between sessions. . Previous experiences of gym and yoga were not positive, lots of sneers and eye rolling, but that culture seems to have changed, people are nice. I love swimming and would rather do that , but it is good to mix it up, I think. I keep swimming as my reward!
Still fat though, sadly.

vickibee · 13/09/2019 09:50

I am thinking about getting a bike but I remember from past times that it hurts your undercarriage ! I reckon I would enjoy it though . The trans Pennine trail is close to our house and is flat and goes on for miles and is safe (no traffic). It was the old Sheffield to Mcr railway line that closed

Anyone else does cycling?

moonlight1705 · 13/09/2019 10:17

I used to cycle and then tried again and could not walk for a week after Grin - if you have a lovely quiet trail then its worth a go.

Now I'm walking to and from work (up a big hill at the end of the day) then my thighs are like steel - unfortunately still massive but really solid now. Sadly I don't think exercise is going to shift this weight but I'm getting a lot fitter slowly.

3dogs2cats · 13/09/2019 21:35

I would cycle if I had the Trans Pennine trail, but roads are scary. I know I am much fitter, but it is not impacting on my weight. I had the awful thought today that if I stopped all this exercise I would gain weight and be a wobbly mess so I’m stuck with it now. I keep self sabotaging, ice cream yesterday and fish and chips tonight. Still I have changed lots of bad habits so change will surely come.

vickibee · 14/09/2019 07:39

Wow a surprise gift from hubby, got home from work and he had got me a ladies vintage bike. It is 💖 lovely. Whether I can ride it or not is another matter lol. I live in a hilly area and even though it is only 1/4 mile to the trail it is up a really steep hill. Can’t wait to try it out
I also self sabotaged last night had some galaxy caramel chocolate 🍫. Move on quickly, and don’t be too hard on ourselves
