We’re a very friendly, supportive group, and all at different stages, but we’re all seeing some real changes in ourselves and our attitudes to food. It’s a long old road, but it helps to chat along the way

We tend to weigh in on Fridays or Saturdays, but feel free to join in at any time, with whatever weight loss method you think works best for you. Some of us have lost more than others, but we're all in this together, so if you're losing, gaining or staying the same, it's nice to have some inspiration to keep going.

We’re always welcoming to newcomers, but as with the previous thread(s), I’ll add one caveat - we’re all here because we are trying to lose a LOT of weight. If you’re looking to lose the last half stone, or even two or three stone, this might not be the thread for you. Good luck with your goals, but you may find more support with in threads with people who have similar goals to you.

Went for a show-round at our local gym yesterday. Credit card statement flips today, so we'll be signing up this evening. Last year I lost about 20lbs working with a digital PT, but wasn't being realistic in terms of what I want my life to look like. This time around I'm going to be returning to the habits that have worked previously, I think. Jog to gym for warm-up, then do either strength or cardio, 4-5 days a week. Cardio at gym is cross-trainer.

No idea what my husband's plan is, but with our gym you get a workout plan, so we'll see what they give him.

I'm a creature of habit so swapping up my sleep schedule is not terribly effective for me. But consistency is, so here's hoping! :)

Ofalus · 08/08/2019 11:04

Hi, I'd love to join you all if that's ok. I've caught up on this thread this morning and all your losses are so inspiring!

Weighed on Monday and I'm up to a very horrifying 24stone 11lbs 🥺

I lost about 3 stone a few years ago and the got pregnant and have piled it on since my son was born (sleep deprivation and shortbread seem to go hand in hand for me!).

But I'm sick of being so fat. I now have a one year old to run around after and I just don't feel healthy at all. I want to be able to chase him around and go down slides with him.

So, start weigh 24.11

First goal is 20st

I think ultimately I'd be happy at 14st (I'm 5ft 9) but I'll see closer to the time.

anguauberwaldironfoundersson · 08/08/2019 11:12

Hi Ofalus

I'm 5ft 9 too and I started at 22 stone 4. I think taller ladies can get away with a bit more, at least I know I can as I'm pear shaped. People would always say "noooo you dont look 22 stone"

I actually managed to lose 3 stone during pregnancy, in fact it's the most successful weight loss of my life! PCOS can be a fucker!

My top healthy BMI weight is 12 stone but I'd also be happy at 14.

Good luck!

moonlight1705 · 08/08/2019 11:16

Its funny, I'm now down to 18st 10lb from 21st and I honestly don't feel much different, I still feel fat even though its over a 2st loss.

Does anyone get this? I think I need to be down towards the 16st mark to even feel better in myself which is possibly why I am constantly yoyo-ing around as I have no motivation.

I am sitting here resisting getting a massive bar of chocolate - really trying not to get hooked on sugar this week.

On the plus side my DD (6 months on Saturday Smile ) has had her first foods and is loving parsnip and apple puree.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 09/08/2019 19:20

Yes I'd say I needed to lose about 4 stones before really seeing an obvious difference. I did take measurements and photos so I can see it changing albeit slowly. Keep going, and if you haven't, take your measurements!!!!

It's been almost a week since I was back on it, so looking forward to weighing in and seeing what difference it's made. I started on Sunday so should weigh then but really I will do tomorrow - going on a hike tomorrow afternoon and I usually swell a bit immediately after exercise, although nowhere near as badly as I used to do.

Pissing with rain here tonight of course so going to do some aerobics when the kids are in bed I think.

Hi everyone.
So I've lost another 6lb since I joined so that's 27lb down so far.
Also that takes me under 300lb so now at 297lb I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight would like to get to 230/220lb I know I'll still be overweight but I felt happy then and that's what matters to me. I'm 5'10 so quite tall.
Hope everyone is doing OK.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 10/08/2019 16:30

Well done Salt, that's fab.

I lost 3lbs this week, so no 96lbs down.

moonlight1705 · 10/08/2019 18:29

Well done honey and Salt, really good weeks for you both.

I've STS again so really going to have to try and be better this week. It's my DSis wedding on Saturday so plenty of opportunity to stuff myself sadly.

Ofalus · 12/08/2019 17:24

First weigh in today and I'm very happy! 9lbs off, although I'm sure it's a lot of water weight and next week will be nowhere near as dramatic.

SW - 24st 11lbs
CW - 24st 2lbs
Lost - 9lbs

Ofalus · 12/08/2019 17:30

Sorry posted too soon.

Well done on the losses Honey and Salt, and enjoy the wedding Moonlight!

Saltnpepper5 · 12/08/2019 21:01

Well done on your first week. That's a brilliant loss.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 12/08/2019 22:00

Ofalus that's a great start, well done!

Just packing ready for the wedding tomorrow babies need a lot so decided to weigh one day early.

Thanks to cutting out additional cars at meals then I've lost 1.2kg Grin very happy with that.

moonlight1705 · 16/08/2019 10:47

Carbs even.... I don't eat cars Wink

vickibee · 19/08/2019 10:19

Hi Guys, checking back in after my Greek holiday
I got a shock on my first day back scales saying I had gained a whopping 9 Lb. However a few days later I have stabalised and only gained 2 Lb. I am guessing it was water retention or something. I did overeat but not to that extent, had ice creams and a few desserts and some mocktails which are prob really sugary. So I have still lost 2 stone 13 lbs and will plod on

moonlight1705 · 25/08/2019 08:11

Well done Vickie for not giving up. It's so hard after a holiday to get back to normal eating.

The wedding went well but I've put on 1kg sadly, it was full of lovely food though so did splurge a bit on that and the wine Wine

Back to a nice healthy meal plan and lots of gardening to try and exercise it all off.

Hiphopopotamus · 25/08/2019 17:13

Can I rejoin this thread? I started my weighloss journey at 17st 7lbs - weighed in this morning at 14 st 12! Getting below 15 stone was a big barrier for me - I was hovering around it for ages! The weight has been fairly slow in coming off but I haven’t been doing anything drastic - just counting calories and trying to move more. My eventual goal is 11 stone so I’ve still got a long way to go! It would be good to have somewhere to be accountable and maybe start to get this weight off a bit quicker

EightToSixer · 26/08/2019 19:42

Hello. May I join. I think I was in earlier thread many years ago with older user name.
Massively overweight all my life. I manage to lose 1.5 stones every 3 years or so but it goes back on.
Currently 22st 12.2lbs. On August 2nd I was 23st 7lbs. Biggest I've ever been. I swam 1 mile today. I've set myself the challenge of swimming the channel in my pool bit by bit. I started today and did 82 lengths, just over 1 mile in 72 minutes. I'm slow but I did it. 20 miles left to go.
There are so many health reasons for my renewed attempt massive weight loss. I sweat all the time, my knees, ankles and hips hurt whenever I walk and I'm very short of breath. I was in California on holiday last month and I forgot my blood pressure meds so I swelled up massively and found all exercise exhausting. I feel like I'm missing out on my kids life now. I can't fit in all fairground rides with them, can't do a lot of other activities due to weight. I want to drop 11 stone to be around 12 stones. I want to look better in clothes and I want to not miss out on my kids lives.

I need to be part of a group so I'm hoping this virtual one will be positive to be part of.

moonlight1705 · 28/08/2019 15:08

Welcome back Hiphop and Eight how are you doing this week? I've done quite a few meals without carbs this week to try and fill up on the veg - will see how it goes.

vickibee · 30/08/2019 10:05

Thanks Moonlight, I have lost my holiday weight and a little extra so I am feeling glad about that. My weight loss journey began mid February at 18 st 9 lb - I now weigh 15 st 6.5 Lb so just over three stone and finally a few people have commented that I have lost weight. I am a private person and no one outside the house knows. I have managed to buy a couple of size 16 but they are stretchy items

Well done on the swimming, I can only manage a few lengths, trying to do 10,000 steps daily because I have a sedentary job

vickibee · 06/09/2019 09:46

Just wondered how everyone was getting on as no one has posted for a while ?

moonlight1705 · 06/09/2019 09:52

I wasn't sure either as it seems to be you and me posting at the moment so didn't want to bore everyone.

Not much to report on the weight front, I'm in a bit of a plateau at the moment but have been tempted by chocolate lately so that's probably why.

How is your step count going vickibee ?

vickibee · 06/09/2019 10:20

i managed 10000 steps at the weekend and on Tuesday and Thursday so that is an improvement. I am also on a plateau at the moment and it definitely gets harder. I have an appointment with a dietician from change for life next week so maybe she can give me a few tips.I am currently 15 stone 5lb 1/2 as of this morning.
I ate some of my sons chocolate last night big mistake because I cannot stop at a few and ended up eating far too many.

3dogs2cats · 06/09/2019 13:04

Hi. Think I may be finally moving off the plateau, desperate to get under 100 kilos. I have been swimming 3 times a week and learning gym stuff with a personal trainer. Dh says my shape has changed, I seem more solid, don’t have to pour myself into clothes anymore. But portion sizes had started to creep up, but I have noticed now , just weighed my estimated ounce of cheese and it was actually 2 ounces.
I can’t believe how long it took me to shift the 2 kilos I put on during a very active week awayearly in August. Holidays are the work of the devil.
Well done to everyone , I think moonlight and

3dogs2cats · 06/09/2019 13:06

Oops sent too soon. vickybee, you are about half a stone ahead of me.
